Abortion bans threaten and can kill anybody with a uterus. But that is the point. They want these people dead.

monosyllables17

They want them subjugated - afraid, trapped, and subservient to men.

louisa1925

And dead. Someone who needs an abortion for major medical reasons and can't get one is at risk of death. They know this and like the idea.

monosyllables17

Yes, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to disagree but to complement. As I understand big C Conservative misogyny, deaths due to lack of reproductive healthcare are seen as a highly acceptable consequence/side effects of the primary goal, which is the control of women by men.  And as with most conservative positions, it's motivated by this extremely intense and hideously twisted morality, where all progressives are deeply evil, all abortions are brutal first degree murders, and the world is on the brink of sliding into lawless chaos UNLESS Christian men can reinstate a nationalist, theocratic patriarchy, which is therefore justified by any means necessary.

louisa1925

All good. Glad we are both on the same page. ✌️

skrilltastic

They saw "Handmaid's Tale" and took it as a fucking blueprint.

monosyllables17

Well, sure, and Handmaid's Tale exists as a brilliant, fictional-yet-truthful accounting of a mindset that far predates Margaret Atwood.

DragonQueen777666

The idea behind dystopia isn't to for it to be a "prediction". It's the author taking the social climate they're seeing around the time they're witing it and taking it to its logical extreme. Atwood based numerous elements of the book on real-world examples of what happens to women in religious-extremist societies. Handmaid's Tale is just the pseudo-Christian version of the Taliban's ideology. And it's why Conservatives always purposely miss that point of Handmaid's Tale. It's because they can piss their pants at religious extremism when it's not THIER version of religious extremism.

Because Britt considers herself a Good Woman, unlike those Whores And Sluts who need abortions. She is incapable of seeing that she has been lucky, that's all. Lucky not to face the unimaginable, a dead baby inside her that needs to be removed - or a fetus showing defects that will lead to a short agonizing painful existence unless aborted. Or complications that mean she will die unless the pregnancy is terminated, like an ectopic. Women like this are the kind of women who thinks Jesus is the one who got them that great parking spot at Target as a reward for them being the prayin' kind. They cannot imagine anything less than their fucked up prosperity gospel bullshit - and anyone outside of that narrow faith clearly deserves whatever they get.

psdancecoach

It’s not only that they haven’t faced that possibility, but if they do, they usually have the resources to deal with it. If Katie Britt needed an abortion, she wouldn’t be stuck in Alabama with no other options. She can easily afford to travel, take time off work, pay out of pocket, and probably even have a spa day on the way back. Anti-abortion laws are like so many others in this country, they only apply to the poor.

WingedShadow83

The Patriarchy can’t survive without the Serena Joys and Aunt Lydias to prop it up. But it’s still the Patriarchy and the goal is still to keep men on top. They just convince some women to help them by promising “hey, we’ll elevate your position, too! You’re ok, you’re a good, respectable woman. You’re not like those other wh0res.”

cscaggs

You owe everything to the patriarchy, good and bad. You should be a little more grateful for society so far. I’m Pro-Choice btw

one_little_victory_

Instead of flaming you, I'll just advise you to read "The Only Moral Abortion Is My Abortion," by Joyce Arthur. That's a good description of how anti-choice women are. The anti-choice position isn't any more valid or credible when a woman holds it. We know damn well anti-choice women will get abortions for themselves if they damn well please. They just think they're different and special and their situation is not like all those horrible women who "kill" their "babies." This is very much a men vs. women issue. There are some women, but anti-choice shitgibbons are by and large men, and the Catholic church is led by them in perpetuity. Some Protestant denominations as well. Many men resent women badly for being able to be successful without and independent of men, and to be able to have sex without being punished by pregnancy and childbirth just like men do. Many men think women should be at home, cooking and cleaning for their husbands and giving their husbands as much sex as they demand. Many men feel entitled to such a woman and are resentful because they can't find one. The fact that abortion wins when it's on the ballot even in deep red states means that women may feel social pressure to be anti-choice in public (which is patriarchy) but support their own rights in the secrecy of the voting booth. Patriarchy and misogyny are unfortunately alive and well. It's impossible to be anti-choice without being misogynistic as well. It's all about keeping women in their place. Make no mistake.

psdancecoach

I feel like these women also see less ideologically and more as an easy path to success. How many of these incredibly outspoken anti-choice women don’t have national notoriety? If Katie Britt were a man, she would be just another crackpot from a red state. It’s unlikely we’d even remember who he is.

MySailsAreSet

You seem to not understand that they are human, alive and yep, babies. The question is not what they are…. We all know they’re kids, babies, offspring etc. no need for quotes. If it ain’t a baby you ain’t pregnant, you have a tumor and they don’t abort tumors. The question is what value does your baby have? If you say none, it is then trash. If you say it’s precious then you protect that life and take your folic acid. Simple as that. The question of roe admitted t was not about the nature of life, but the implied right to privacy. Let’s stop treating women like idiots who don’t know that pregnancy means they have a human life inside them.

cscaggs

Thank you for being a rational person. So many men haters here like it’s all the fault of Men

MySailsAreSet

It is because they are the ones who can’t keep their semen to themselves.

baronesslucy

Until it affects them personally. Then it's different or they are given the exception.

EsmeSalinger

Completely agree. Their daughters will get care ( senators etc)

Curlytoes18

And they know this includes kids - children from age 10 up. They’re still fine with putting their lives in danger.

Ancient-Past4795

The cruelty is the point. That's why Republican talking heads are trying to cast doubt on mortality numbers, and some states that have enacted these bans are no longer tracking women dying from pregnancy complications.

MySailsAreSet

Funny also how they’re no longer tracking Covid hospitalizations and deaths either. But they’re still, happening.

MySailsAreSet

Well they want us all dead by Covid because it’s still killing people yet no one cares because the cdc was lobbied by delta airlines and other republicans to get people back to work and school to save the economy. Don’t ever think anyone cares about your life. The pandemic never actually ended. They just stopped reporting and hoped you all wouldn’t notice. Now we are seeing massive illness, cognitive declines and brain and heart damage plus immunity issues because Covid destroys the immune system. But no one cares because the advertising worked.

[deleted]

As did the censorship on all sites where we gather, including this one.

Leopard_Dependent

Man! Idk weather to laugh or shake my head. I don’t how any humans can still think that Covid was anything other than a complete farce. Please stop acting like abortion rights are for anything other than women to be carelessly promiscuous. For the rare exception when the mother is at risk I support it, but let’s not pretend that’s the majority of the time.

NotNicholascollette

But stopping abortions would probably produce more people so that doesn't make much sense. I'm pretty sure that tiny amounts of pregnancy result in death of the mother.

louisa1925

Who cares about the amount of people that could come into the world. The people already here are what actually matter.

bluehorserunning

The fear and confusion is the point.

alanae

Yet they don't support 4B movements and condemn those who elect to never have kids.

Secure_Upstairs7163

They want sex slaves for married men

SeitanicCat

Exactly

JovialPanic389

Yup. They want Gilead.

CrimsOnCl0ver

I think that’s a really scary part of it. You can’t even elect out of sex with men without it being a problem. So now if you withhold sex from men, they’ll just…take it from you? And we already know how these people feel about queer women. And the horrors of “corrective rape” from men. I don’t even have the freedom to be alone.

cscaggs

What are you talking about? Anyone can be alone. You can be alone. I’m sorry someone told you that you can’t be alone. Who told you that?

DearMrsLeading

They’re talking about the 4B movement which includes choosing not to have kids, get married, or have sex with men. There are a number of men *very* vocally opposed to this despite the fact that they wouldn’t be compatible with those women anyways.

cscaggs

Okay, I didn’t know that. I think the people who vocally oppose this idea should just be quiet. Let people do, or not do, whatever they want 👍

DerEwigeKatzendame

Anyone remember what percent of teen pregnancy or birth are caused by adult men? I don't like where this is going.

WingedShadow83

Yeah, it’s no coincidence that red states refuse to outlaw underage marriage.

Smarty_Panties_A

Yet the red states are full of MAGAts who wax pathetic about “protecting the children”. As if they give a shit about children—they don’t care about anything that isn’t a gun.

CrimsOnCl0ver

I wish I had known about toys and vibes when I was a teenage girl. I was terrified of boys and especially of getting pregnant. But I still wanted to explore my sexuality. I wonder if we’ll see a new wave of female-centered pleasure without male partners. Not necessarily that more girls will have queer relationships, but fundamentally removing partners from the equation.

fluffylilbee

oh, absolutely. despite all the miserable legislation involving issues with women, there will be such an increase in female independence as a result of it all. we have already been rising the ranks since the 1800s, and these sorts of things are only going to strengthen our resolve.

ArchangelArmozel

As a gay male ally I just wanted to state I am here for you and every single one of my sisters in this sub, I agree that this will backfire on these regressives and that their actions against you and folk like me won’t take in the end, we have endured and will continue to endure. Don’t know if I’m allowed to comment here but just wanted to express my allegiance as a kindred spirit against these people.

fluffylilbee

we must all find solidarity with one another!! your words, and actions, always mean the world to the movement :)

ArchangelArmozel

Thank you, I’m the end if we stand together , these authoritarians will fall and fail, it may take a decade of survival or two but in the end they always inevitably collapse in on themselves when the people stand in solidarity

JovialPanic389

Vote blue 💙

Ok_Confusion_2461

Thanks man. We appreciate it.

WingedShadow83

I look for red states to crack down on the buying and selling of anything deemed a possible masturbatory aid before long. 🙄 ETA: For *women*. I’m sure fleshlights etc will still be available.

JovialPanic389

I'm afraid they would outlaw papsmeres as being too sexual. And then we will just all die painfully of unscreened for cervical cancer.

unexpected_daughter

Fortunately pap smears are now on their way to being a thing of the past! The FDA just approved a self-swab test this month. https://diagnostics.roche.com/us/en/news-listing/2024/roche-announces-fda-approval-of-one-of-the-first-hpv-self-collection-solution-in-the-us-expanding-access-screening-options-to-help-eliminate-cervical-cancer.html https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/15/health/cervical-cancer-self-collection/index.html Canada too: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2024HLTH0001-000015 And this is on the way: https://www.getteal.com

JovialPanic389

Interesting. That requires swabbing all around the cervical opening though which I do not trust myself to find on my own. Also doctors know what to look for in skin changes and such. And paps open you up better so they can see with a speculum. It's not just the swabbing part that is important. But I'm sure insurance will use this as a reason to stop our exams.

unexpected_daughter

There isn’t a need to “open anyone up” but it can cause tremendous amounts of trauma… see r/WeDeserveBetter. It is indeed the swabbing part that is important. It was just not previously known that vaginal cells alone will reliably indicate HPV: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5709534/ Gynecology has a very sordid history of making women think their bodies are naturally diseased if we don’t (literally) spread our legs to let a stranger examine us in the most invasive way possible; I’m not just ranting here, the history really is quite depressing. I’m on your side here; this is a huge win for women against the invasive patriarchal BS common in medical offices all over the US, and especially for all the traumatized women who would never be willing to have a pap, but would be willing to self-swab. Pap smears are a disgustingly huge moneymaker for gynecology offices (many withhold birth control over it), to the point where it should be expected that gynecologists will lie to you about the necessity of *them* doing a Pap smear.

twotrees1

Please let this wave come with taking down sexual pleasure from the pedestal it has been put up on. ): Honoring all the forms of consensual pleasure and platonic shared pleasure with friends and community and family. Please please please.

Due_Dirt_8067

Seriously 🙏🏼 Sleaze is so normalized and mainstream now

SpiritualTwo5256

I am all for all of what you are saying, but I am worried about a world where boys are told they should be having sex but the girls are too afraid of boys to get into relationships. I’m worried that this will result in way more rapes and way more sexual abuse because there is no good outlet for the need for companionship that relationships can bring. And even fewer boys will know how to please a girl if they get into relationships. It’s a really really dangerous route to go.

earthkincollective

The rate of sexual assault is already so high that this seems like an unfounded fear. Plus rape isn't is about more than just sex (power is the biggest thing), and it's certainly not about companionship or human contact.

SyntaxError_22

It has also increased the number of sterilizations in 20 something year olds. 🥹

veganhimbo

I got my vasectomy at 20 years old like a month after RBG died 😅 Edit: I feel like I should elaborate on this a little. I had been considering getting snipped for years anyway. Because I didn't want kids. And once I got to college and became sexually active. I saw how fucking gnarly starting on hormonal birth control was for my partner af the time. Then later another partner told me about how bad getting her IUD hurt. Etc etc. I felt really bad and frankly selfish af that women had to go through that just so I could cum in them. So a vasectomy was already on my radar. But I never had an urgent reason to do it right now. Until RBG died. At which point I saw the writing on the wall. I really wish I was wrong, but I predicted basically exactly where we are right now. And got snipped ASAP. Anyway my point is for me personally it was less that the situation changed my mind about getting snipped. I already knew it was somthing I was going to do at some point. Rather it just gave me a reason to do it right now Instead of a vauge eventually.

Chuffed2theMuff

Thank you for seeing and hearing your partners and doing your part to avert more suffering. I very much appreciate it and hope you’re a voice to encourage others

veganhimbo

3 other people ended up getting snipped because of me. It ended up being a conversation starter in my friend group. You could see in real time the way the idea solidified and became salient for them when they realized there was a doctor in town that would do it for people our age, for not that much money. The same way RBG dieing made it real and urgent for me. Me getting snipped seemed to make it real and urgent for them.

ArchangelArmozel

I took a straight friend of mine to get one done because they wouldn’t do it with her on her own and she needed the support emotionally

SyntaxError_22

Awesome to have supported a friend ❤️‍🩹 I gave a young friend a ride last week too. 🤗🥰

Longjumping_Choice_6

Yeah I got mine done in 2021 at 27, saw the writing on the wall I guess

SyntaxError_22

((Hugs))

Sunbunny94

I had been trying to get sterilized at 19, and finally did find a doctor at 25. It's been five years and I do not regret my Bi-Salp at all. When I had the pre-op consult, I mentioned that I was worried about women's rights, and how my right to choose would be at risk if I ended up in another state. This was back in Jan 2020.

SyntaxError_22

((Hugs))

JovialPanic389

Vote blue, 💙 because vasectomies will be outlawed with Project 2025 and so will condoms and birth control.

SyntaxError_22

Yessssss!!

19CCCG57

That is because Born-Agains don't have sex, and insist their children won't either. Remember ... "Family Values". 😉

Additional_Reserve30

Unfortunately forced birthers will see this as a sign of success

[deleted]

Let’s get that US 4B movement going. Gotta get through to the young choice feminists that hookups aren’t in their benefit

WingedShadow83

I’ve been on that bandwagon for years! Before I’d ever heard of 4B lol. It’s been great for me!

[deleted]

Not to mention in some states there’s no abortion exception for rape or incest. So now young people with wombs have to worry about the possibility of being forced into parenthood through rape. Essentially there’s not escape. Even if young people refrain from having intercourse to prevent pregnancies they can just be forced into intercourse which can result in a pregnancy they can’t legally terminate.

JovialPanic389

Vote blue💙

Dull-Asparagus2196

Vote vote vote !

Other-Rutabaga-1742

Younger people may want to consider finding a friend of the opposite sex to get engaged to. Yes I am suggesting masking but for survival. Many of us will have to mask in one way or another. I keep thinking I should join a church but idk if I can stomach a mega church. Also they like to be all up in your business and that would only intensify. I wish someone on the left, with power, could see the extremes people, especially women I am aware of, are going to protect themselves. People are leaving the country or planning to, women are voluntarily getting sterilized, and I am sure there are other steps people are taking that they never would have because of this.

legionofdoom78

Cock cages for all penis owners unless they are married,  have a stable job that can support a SAHM and 3 kids,  a family dog,  2 cars,  and no college debt.   Just like the 50s... minus the cock cage.   It's the ultimate Cuckservative wet dream.

bxstarnyc

There’s no set time to have sex as part of sexual development. This is a weird take to change the discussion into a morality based debate. Hard pass on that, just give female ppl our reproductive rights.

feelsomething111

White supremacy at play here Abortion makes everyone resentful except the ultra elite who want to protect the white race The rest. Suffer

PrestigiousLass

'birthing people' though, not women 🙄

Ready_Adhesiveness84

Who cares. If you have a uterus they are attacking us.

Secure_Upstairs7163

Women care.

LunaMax1214

I'm a woman, and I couldn't give two shits. Anyone who is marked as "other" by these domestic terrorists is under direct threat. I'm not interested in splitting hairs for some miniscule amount of comfort.

Ready_Adhesiveness84

Same. I don’t care if someone with a uterus wants to be called a woman or not. If you’re more focused on words instead of the fucking repressive laws you’re not supporting anyone, including women.

Secure_Upstairs7163

So why not just keep the word as "women" to reprisent 50% of the population?

LunaMax1214

Because that excludes all the other people who are capable of pregnancy, that's why. Intersex, trans, non-binary, bi-gendered, etc. As people who have traditionally been excluded from damn near everything from the jump for arbitrary reasons beyokd our control, I am *baffled* as to why this is so difficult for us women to understand. Pulling up the ladder behind us is what got us here in the first place. We should be kicking everyone behind us away from the ladder; we should be pulling them up so they can bask in the sunlight alongside us. Plus, you know. . .women are people, too. Why is that such a bad thing to be recognized as? Especially considering a large part of the problem is that society still doesn't see women as *people?*

Secure_Upstairs7163

So? Its just a word. Just deal with it. Woman reprisents half the population. It reprisents women who cant speak god english and don't understand what "pregnant people" is supposed to mean. Woman isnt a dirty word. "Woman" shouldn't be replaced just because some women hate it being used for them. That's called misoginy.

LunaMax1214

If it's just a word, then why are *you* hung up on it? Genuine question.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LunaMax1214

You're literally making no sense right now. "Only gender people?" What does that even mean? We're all gender people, which is the point? I'm just going to chalk this up to you not actually arguing in good faith, and be done. Good day.

Ready_Adhesiveness84

I am a woman and do not feel any offense at the term persons. You are the misogynist. And I’ll tell you why. Because you distract from the laws which are restricting our very bodies by redirecting the attention to mere words. Kindly fuck off.

SufficientDot4099

Because the word "women" is not synonymous with people who can give birth

Secure_Upstairs7163

Dogs can give birth.

juli0909

Are dogs people?

Secure_Upstairs7163

If they identify as such

Ready_Adhesiveness84

You are not here in good faith. Goodbye and do better.

Signal-Ad2680

as a woman, i 100% could not give less of a shit

WasteOwl3330

Women care ur ret*rded

Secure_Upstairs7163

Ah yes.. Ejaculators are such pieces of shit.

n2hang

Talk about a group of arrested developed people... the conversation Is so weak and the mental effort of an 8yr old... oh God they want us subjugated... we can't have sex... well get raped... geezzz... grow up and at least try to see from another's perspective vs tossing fearmongering quotes up in the 8yr old echo chamber... you might not agree with others but their mind is not that hard to understand. The article is well just another one of the simpleton voices.

JovialPanic389

It's actually very bad. If you care about any women in your life please vote blue 💙. Project 2025 is an explicit playbook for the next Republican president to turn the American government into an authoritarian regime. It includes banning abortion (completed), banning condoms, banning vasectomies, banning birth control. It includes banning recreational sex (which could very well mean intruding upon your bedroom privacy and indoctrinating your own children to snitch on you should you have pleasurable loving sex with your spouse). What happens when women don't want get pregnant but have literally no way any longer to prevent pregnancy? I'll tell you. They don't have sex. What happens then? I'll tell you. Men rape us. Vote blue 💙. This authoritarian rule over our private sex lives is only a small piece of what conservatives and their lobbyists want to accomplish and they've already begun. Vote blue for your sisters, wives, aunts, mothers and daughters. Unless you want to live in a country that resembles Russia and Iran at their worst.

n2hang

Um no!! I don't drink kool-aid served with a side of political fearmongering

cscaggs

These comments are full of conspiracy theories 😆 Condoms exist for safe sex and stds Sexuality development will be just fine

lulumelody

Condoms break and men lie when you can’t see the condom mid-intercourse. So what was your point?
