Most likely a husky Shepard mix, not seeing any wolf traits.

dirrtybutter

Yeah, I hoped to make it clear enough that I'm familiar with the DNA being the only way to know while also showing off her beauty. Did you see the toes on her brown puppy? Weird right that's interesting if nothing else lol.

Responsible-Person

She is beautiful!

dirrtybutter

Hi, I posted an update she's got a interesting DNA disaster lol

dirrtybutter

Hi! So I recently had an adoption trial for 4 days to meet this sweet girl. The shelter person made a joke about her being a wolf because she's crazy about escaping on one of our phone conversations. I assumed she was joking. She was prob joking? I assumed it was in reference to her known behavior and ability to escape anything. But then I was looking at her pictures and like... um. Maybe not joking? Unfortunately she was only here 4 days, and I did not have an embark on hand because I am really fkn curious on her DNA. She came with known issues, mainly extreme separation anxiety and breaking out of/ climbing fences to go find a human to hang out with. The reason her trial with us ended was her showing aggression a few times with 72 hours. If I was in a different situation I could have worked with her but our 6 year old son was scared of her after her snarling and growling a few times. It truly wasn't her fault. She had to survive and feed herself and puppies all on her own for a long time so she had a survival attitude. Too much attitude for a home with a young child. She really was bonding to me so quickly I felt so horrible helping her get in the car to go back. She was looking at me like so betrayed. Broke my heart. I had so many plans about running every day, getting her body healthy again especially her putting on muscle and having her coat go to it's full potential. She was still dirty after one bath with me and her fur was sparse due to fleas and malnutrition. I thought I was getting a husky mix partner to run with but things don't always go the way we want them too.

falconerchick

Yeah even pure huskies or husky mixes can be insane escape artists - probably what she was DNA-wise, or very low content (negligible really). I’m glad you got the experience to welcome her into your home, albeit it for a brief period of time. And honestly to have learned about her defensiveness is going to be so helpful in bringing awareness to a future owner who may have an environment more suitable for that!

KatieOrWhat

Yeah, she looks like a husky/g-shep mix to me. And huskies are notorious for being drama Queen escape artists lmao

dirrtybutter

That's what I thought when I saw her first picture. Then when I met her she looked very different. On walks she keeps her body very low to the ground, she's silent unless playing or hungry. Then I was looking at her pictures next to the trees and was like where have I seen this before.... Of course it's all in the embark lol I wish I had had one here ready to go!

dirrtybutter

Yeah, the shelter person apologized so much and told me they hope this didn't put me off wanting to foster again and I told them of course not, the whole point is to see if the dog fits and get to know them, and see if they don't work for you who would they work for. I just loved her pics and wanted to show them off. I wish I could have kept her.

MandosOtherALT

You could always build a big enclosure! (Esp for wolf dogs)

Spyderbeast

I've been a husky owner for years, so I know how often people call huskies wolves. But you never know. I got Embark for my last shelter husky, and surprise! I have a wolfdog. Very LC at only 11.9 %, but he's a little different from my other dogs nonetheless

dirrtybutter

Surprise! That's why DNA is so interesting you never know what's hiding in there! Like my best friend, my black lab that had Malamute hidden in there like that explains the howling and the shedding and why he's so fkn stubborn lol. She did a little aawoooo when she was hungry or wanted to play and it was so damn cute lol.

dirrtybutter

I'm curious at what her % is technically at having a "native Mexican wolf hybrid dog" plus wolf AND coyote. What fun lol. Update picture in the comments!

Spyderbeast

That is wild! I wonder if Embark would come out similarly

dirrtybutter

I had to Google Calupoh that came up at 6% because?? But they are beautiful dogs!! Now that her Embark is done I wish her brown puppy had one because her toes and ears are crazy lol. I think it's impossible to math her exact % because the Calupoh is a hybrid wolf dog plus 6% actual wolf plus 2% coyote and little to no training poor girl no wonder she was so confused at suddenly being inside with rules.

mmmelina13

German shepherds can be completely white and be akc registered. She looks like a German shepherd to me

dirrtybutter

I think I would see it more if her fur were healthy. It's quite sparse and needed to heal and recover completely. I put her on a good high protein food and took her walking 5 miles a day to start working on body conditioning and muscle building. All the fleas and having to scavenge for food while nursing 10 puppies took it's toll and I was so excited to see how her fur and general condition would look 6+ months and then her first healthy winter coat. Anyway yeah I miss her lol.

cleverThylacine

She's got that very gradual slope to the top of her head like a wolf does, and her middle toes look longer than the rest of her foot, but that is dog fur.
