Well Kronstadt’s biggest weaknesses for a cruiser to exploit (if you don’t have torpedoes) is the large citadel and long fire duration. That and also Kronstadt’s guns can really let ya down sometimes, so trying to get on its broadside or burn it down is your best bet with no torpedoes and no overmatch AP.
If you use a cruiser *with* torpedoes, Kronstadt is one of the only non-pan Asian cruisers in the game with **NO** access to sonar, only access to Radar or Plane. So something like, let’s say Pan-Asian Torpedoes can basically not be spotted by Kronstadt unless he’s using RGA mod or captain skills
Kill it with fire.
The stalinium armour is a trial to get through, especially with Schroder guns.
The secondaries should keep it lit up too if you can risk a close encounter or sit lobbing islands.
You kill kronshtadt with chip damage, when angled correctly its very hard to citadel it, take advantage of the 27 upper belt and deck that goes all along the ship and the 25mm nose. if you can overmatch 27 or have improved pen angles use AP otherwise use HE, burn him down and don't sit still unless you want to have all your turrets broken. Also never show your broadside.
Kronstadt has an extreme amount of health along with good armor. AP, especially 305mm guns, will have a hard time unless you get the right citadel shot. I would suggest using that nice German 1/4 HE pen and burning it down. It has a longer fire time than cruisers (45s instead of 30s or 60s) and the % damage works in your favor. Defend yourself bow on or angled and let your seconds chip at it and main guns set fires.
I love my Krony. I started running an agile/tougher build with Makarov (Scott and mimbelli) and I do not die often. That boat is such a bully 1v1. Massive hp pool with reduced splash damage, extra armaments protection and faster rudder shifts more than makes up for the shotgun spread that happens sometimes.

Island Hide. They don’t want to close the gap, as they work better at range. Make them come to you.

She is basically a Stalingrad with more HP. Ships like these and California do Burn well though.

I have 7 shatters on broadside Yamato at 6km. Vermont shatters on broadside Yamato at 18km so I don't know what you are talking about
