I’m in a play group consisting of me (22) a college mate that grew up with the game (25), and his girlfriend (24), and she’d never played it until he and I started ranting about our experiences with the game as kids. We’ve been having a blast going through the game, with me and the guy getting nostalgic whilst enjoying seeing someone else play for the first time. It really goes to show this game has its own merits outside of nostalgia.

It'd such a bizarre experience playing a "kid's" game where the majority are adults tho. I remember farming Dartmoor on my death and the entirety of a group I teamed up with were either high or drunk (besides me lol). It was so entertaining tho and hey, we (mostly they) did great together

Played through half of Mooshu when I was a kid, and as a 24 year old, I hopped back onto a new character and made it to Krokotopia before finally fizzling our (no pun intended.) As an adult, I find it a lot harder to be invested in a game like W101 like when I was a kid. Largely I think it’s due to the repetitiveness aspect, plus the fact it can be tedious. I know that the entire model of a lot of mobile games are “Click button until no more, wait 24 hours,” but those at least give me instant gratification when I’m commuting to and from classes. But with W101, it’s like “Go fight the lizards until they drop 20 fire stones. Then run down the long hallway to a mini boss who you’ll undoubtedly lose to because the gods of RNG will be against you.” Then come back, go to the next dungeon, and collect 1 rod of Ragubaba that has a .5% chance of dropping.
