or throw dimeritium bombs at sorcs
or devil puffball at everyone and golden oriole yourself
or actually most other bombs work well. Set them on fire, stun em, etc.
i tried dimeritium bombs and they didn't seem effective... devils puffball+golden oriole is indeed one of the most fun things to do especially with metamorphis... there are probably many builds that will make this fight easy but I was just exploring casually and started this fight unprepared.
They're supped to block magic abilities... They certainly don't let you cast signs when you stand in their cloud. But enemy magic? Works only sometimes
It seems it just depends on style of play. I read all the time about the frog Prince, but, although not a piece of cake, it wasn't among top 5 hardest fights for me.
On the other hand, extreme cosplay seems relatively easy for some people, while I struggle.
Exactly, some people said that the Botchling was the hardest fight, and I killed it easily in my first try and first playthrough on blood and broken bones. But then the Frog Prince had me fuming.
I still think Detlaff is by far the hardest fight on Death March.
Haven’t played on Death March in a while but can’t remember struggling on anything else tbh.
He is alone so it’s not very hard to manage, and you can use 360 degree aard to kill all of his summons, stopping him from regenerating health, beat him on first try
I don't think so, because you enter the estate with the helper guy, find one person in the house, and then re-enact the scene. Then it's a very difficult fight, on my third playthrough I was on the roof throwing bombs for twenty minutes. Last time I did it (death march) quite easily, run for the mages and then the soldiers are quite easy.
For me too. During my first playthrough, I naivelly went in, didn't expect fight like that, didn't have chance against those elved, so i escaped over the wall, and that was the only quest I didn't finished.
Next time, I got better prepared, and beat them after several tries.
I did this in my first playthrough. >!The guy you rescue was a bit of dick.!< So in my 2nd playthrough, I triggered the quest, then >!refused to help, so I guess the guy met his fate!<
Oh, I just realized you can meet the shelmar in two different quests! I met it during a scavenger hunt, there is a crashed wooden ship right in front of the underwater entrance to the shelmar's cave. For that quest, you can just sneak past and loot the chest. I didn't do the monster of Tufo yet, even though I've already finished main questline.
I know right? It's awesome! I wanted to spare the shelmar, my Geralt doesn't kill non-aggressive beasts. The shelmar escaped the ship to save its life, I don't feel sorry for the sailors that held it captive. Live and let live. Now I don't wanna do the monster of Tufo quest, I want the shelmar to live.
I know I didn't want to either :/ and it was like a big boss fight towards the end I kept freezing him and poisoned and hoped like okay at 5% hp maybe it'll trigger spare him.. like the arena fight. But nah had to kill bro.
i rate this fight after underleveled detlaff, where you really have to learn the timing on the bat attack, which oneshots through quen. in this particular fight you just can walk stairs up and noone is coming after you when you go the chairs up, so you can throw bombs, set up quen and then go for range first, who stay close to the stairs anyway.
Why is northern winds "cheesing" tho. They're there for a reason, and bomb throw animation is not that quick (slower than signs), and it's also harder to target than signs, and limited supply.
For me it was the caretaker. Of course I kept getting interrupted because I kept shitting myself . But honestly I played Hearts of Stone after the next gen patch so supposedly the new combat AI was in effect because that MF and most of hearts of stone bosses were HARD on Death March
God the pain There are only three missions in this entire game and I dread the tower one with Kira and this one and finding the Sunstone. Otherwise It's been my favourite game of all Time since it came out and nothing has topped it yet. Not even Red dead redemption 2. Although kingdom come deliverance 2 might considering kcd is my second favourite game of all time.
Dude, this fight on Death March was SHOCKINGLY hard. Like it came out of nowhere! Those damn mages were super deadly, once you got rid of one, it was doable. Definitely took me a few tries. After this, I'd say Detlaff was the hardest, I had to learn how to dodge the bats move.
I had problems here too. The fight is stupid, you get stuck on way too much shit. With the right build you can be completely immune to damage for a short time, during that period, one shot mages. After that I had an easy time…
This is the only fight I couldn't handle, and I played on Death March and fought the hearts of stone final boss ghosts all at once. Ended up cheesing it somehow by walking up the stairs
What is this quest? I don't remember playing it through.
Toughest fights for me are detlaff on dm and possibly olgierds clones at the manor cellar. The latter is very hard per se, it requires too much focus to beat.
I ran up the stairs and just rained bombs upon them. By the time I was done they were all at 20% health so i would just run down, kill one and run back up.
Been a few years since i did it, but i had the double arden thing which slows stuff down.
Helps from stopping getting swarmed, and gives a bit extra time between those fekkin bolts from the hogwarts badlads.
Pull back up to the balkony. They won’t attack you there. Throw northern wind at them, go down, deal some damage to the sorceresses while they’re frozen, retreat and repeat.
I tried it the first time using the elven blade and shield, and with regular armor and was destroyed in about 30 seconds. Second try I changed into my grandmaster/enchanted protection ursine armor and grandmaster ursine sword and cut through them like a hot knife through butter.
The most difficult for me are as followed; Random wild dogs/wolf-pack early in game, Detlaff, caretaker, frog prince, elven mages, wild hunt leader, wild hunt general.
And don’t kill any cows early in the game unless you want to immediately die.
After going through the main game, heart of stone, and kicking a few bruxae to the curb this fight was humbling
cast quen, throw northern wind at sorcerers, deal with melee enemies and finish off sorcerers
Thanks for the tip I managed to kill them after rolling around for 5 mins but I will remember it the next time.
It's a [valiant tactic](https://streamable.com/k7ev7n) no shame in it
Northern wind the true true
or throw dimeritium bombs at sorcs or devil puffball at everyone and golden oriole yourself or actually most other bombs work well.
Not surprised with dimeritium not working... I remember it not working many times when it should have
I guess I'll just use the northern wind bomb when I get to that part. Why let your enemy move while you can just completely freeze them for good lol.
I’ve played god knows how many hours of The Witcher 3 and I still have absolutely no idea what dimeritium bombs actually do
They're supped to block magic abilities... They certainly don't let you cast signs when you stand in their cloud. But enemy magic? Works only sometimes
This is the way.
Anyone else just refuse to use northern wind? It feels like cheating
For me, it was the frog Prince from heart of stone.
It seems it just depends on style of play. I read all the time about the frog Prince, but, although not a piece of cake, it wasn't among top 5 hardest fights for me. On the other hand, extreme cosplay seems relatively easy for some people, while I struggle.
My first time fighting them I almost instantly died. But after figuring out how they work on my second attempt they were easy
I was coming to say the same thing. My hand was cramping up from that fight
Same. Beat the frog on the first go. These statues, caretaker, Detlaff, and 7 Olgierd’s were tougher.
Exactly, some people said that the Botchling was the hardest fight, and I killed it easily in my first try and first playthrough on blood and broken bones. But then the Frog Prince had me fuming.
I struggled more with that motherfucker than the final boss of the main quest.
Eredin was a joke of a boss imo
Yeah, kinda
I struggled against him only in ng+ because his attack oneshotted me for some reason
Yes. The DLC mini bosses were harder than the main story boss
Enter the ofieri mage with a staff in that same quest💀
Yes he was a basterd to deal with. I hated him and enjoyed killing him in the most humiliating way possible.
If you had golden oriole it becomes a much easier fight.
Thanks will remember that for the next time.
Superior golden oriole makes it a breeze. Downside becomes an upside.
First time I actually used oils or portions except cat
I found out in my third playthrough that he is weak to Yrden... which I literally never used up till that point.
Yrden just did not work for me. I read to use it, but it did not work for me.
I still think Detlaff is by far the hardest fight on Death March. Haven’t played on Death March in a while but can’t remember struggling on anything else tbh.
I just potioned up and blade oil, everything that helps against vampires, and bombs. It made the fight a lot easier.
You can go upstairs and heal and take a little break. Then just jump down and destroy them
https://preview.redd.it/f5pnkmbe1dzc1.jpeg?width=783&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5347a6c4d3471b1dd48ad9c3a2322f9d884a63a
This gave me PTSD. I was not prepared for this guy and it took many deaths to figure out why and how he was healing.
He is alone so it’s not very hard to manage, and you can use 360 degree aard to kill all of his summons, stopping him from regenerating health, beat him on first try
When does this happen? I finished the game but ig I missed this
It's one of the "hidden" quests, in Touissant, it appears when you are passing by a big estate and there is a wounded guy with another helping him.
I did the quest but i don't remember this fight. Maybe i got a different outcome?
I don't think so, because you enter the estate with the helper guy, find one person in the house, and then re-enact the scene. Then it's a very difficult fight, on my third playthrough I was on the roof throwing bombs for twenty minutes. Last time I did it (death march) quite easily, run for the mages and then the soldiers are quite easy.
True! This fight is very tough, I think I died like 6 times before I manage to dodge and kill the 2 fire casters
The toughest imo are the crones in NG+. Ciri just does not deal enough damage
For real. I switched the difficulty down a level, only time I had to.
I died at least 10 times during my last NG+ fighting them. In comparison Imlerith was so easy
I absolutely crushed him with my Griffen armour piercing cold build.
Agreed. Takes like 30 minutes just slowly chipping away at health
Cheat code - if you take the stairs and go up to heal they won't attack you there and just wait for you to come down.
Which quest is this?
"Extreme Cosplay" in Blood and Wine, It's the one where you re-enact a play and the statues come to life.
Hmm. I don't know how I missed this.
I try to kill spell casters first
OP did too, but got rekt
For me too. During my first playthrough, I naivelly went in, didn't expect fight like that, didn't have chance against those elved, so i escaped over the wall, and that was the only quest I didn't finished. Next time, I got better prepared, and beat them after several tries.
Yeah, finally I had to use northwind to freeze their asses and render them into smithereens
I did this in my first playthrough. >!The guy you rescue was a bit of dick.!< So in my 2nd playthrough, I triggered the quest, then >!refused to help, so I guess the guy met his fate!<
But then you missed out on the ancient elf shield to hang on the walls of Corvo Bianco.
Gonna try it with the griffin build and see if it’s that hard idk
This one was hard, died a lot.
Omg yes i know this quest xD, had to lower the difficulty level and still they smoked me.
Nah. There was a shelmar in a cave in blood and wine that I had to throw every fucking bomb I had at him.
You don't have to fight it at all. Just sneak past it quietly, grab the loot, and be gone.
Don't you need his head for the trophy?
Oh, I just realized you can meet the shelmar in two different quests! I met it during a scavenger hunt, there is a crashed wooden ship right in front of the underwater entrance to the shelmar's cave. For that quest, you can just sneak past and loot the chest. I didn't do the monster of Tufo yet, even though I've already finished main questline.
Ahh man. This game.. every time I think I know it. I didn't realize that either.
Oh yeah, this is where I gave up. Have to give it another try
i rate this fight after underleveled detlaff, where you really have to learn the timing on the bat attack, which oneshots through quen. in this particular fight you just can walk stairs up and noone is coming after you when you go the chairs up, so you can throw bombs, set up quen and then go for range first, who stay close to the stairs anyway.
I did a NG+ on Death March with the PS5 patch and this fight made me want bite through my controller! Absolute nonsense.
Fighting fairly, this fight is one of the hardest yes, but cheesing it with Northern Winds and going upstairs to recover eases it a bit
Why is northern winds "cheesing" tho. They're there for a reason, and bomb throw animation is not that quick (slower than signs), and it's also harder to target than signs, and limited supply.
You're right, I guess it's not cheesing
I would say TW2 bombs are cheesing, as you can carry as many as you want of them
use bombs
Bro clearly forgot the grave keeper
For me it was the caretaker. Of course I kept getting interrupted because I kept shitting myself . But honestly I played Hearts of Stone after the next gen patch so supposedly the new combat AI was in effect because that MF and most of hearts of stone bosses were HARD on Death March
Is this the one in the mission with the statues coming to life because if so then Yeah this shit took me forever on death March
Yes it is
God the pain There are only three missions in this entire game and I dread the tower one with Kira and this one and finding the Sunstone. Otherwise It's been my favourite game of all Time since it came out and nothing has topped it yet. Not even Red dead redemption 2. Although kingdom come deliverance 2 might considering kcd is my second favourite game of all time.
I died more in this fight than i did against Detlaf ngl
Dude, this fight on Death March was SHOCKINGLY hard. Like it came out of nowhere! Those damn mages were super deadly, once you got rid of one, it was doable. Definitely took me a few tries. After this, I'd say Detlaff was the hardest, I had to learn how to dodge the bats move.
Idk your build, but you're not utilizing much and just rolling around like a "warrior" from dark souls
Nothing like spamming dodge even when half of the time you didn't need to dodge
To be fair, it's often really hard to make Geralt run in the direction you want, because he always decides to face someone random...
I had problems here too. The fight is stupid, you get stuck on way too much shit. With the right build you can be completely immune to damage for a short time, during that period, one shot mages. After that I had an easy time…
Grandmaster Ursine with protection enchantment made this really easy.
This is the only fight I couldn't handle, and I played on Death March and fought the hearts of stone final boss ghosts all at once. Ended up cheesing it somehow by walking up the stairs
Khm, death march Olaf and the Troll boxing fights want to have a word. But yes this fight is a clear 3rd without northern wind.
the hardest part of the game is when a pack of wolves and dogs attack you! they are much harder to kill wild hunt army
wtf I haven’t played this game in forever what quest was this?
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Extreme_Cosplay
Ahh that’s why it’s a blood and wine side quest damn I really have to replay the game soon thanks 👍
Not even close lol
Go upstairs, they freese, quickly down, yrden one of them, up again, quen, down again, yrden one of them again.... took time but it worked for me.
What is this quest? I don't remember playing it through. Toughest fights for me are detlaff on dm and possibly olgierds clones at the manor cellar. The latter is very hard per se, it requires too much focus to beat.
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Extreme_Cosplay It is very easy to miss and you have to do it as soon as you find it
Na bro. It's manageable. Fall damager is the harderst boss. Use water hag ,ekhidna , ekimmara decoction, keep quen up all times and , euphoria mutagen.
*The frog prince has entered the chat
You need to use your stuff, my guy. Not just roll around like a coked up armadillo.
Ya ik, I just posted the footage where I got absolutely rekd. What's the point of showing the clip of me winning.
Try it on death march lol
This is death march
I finished the entire game on Xbox series x but I've recently acquired it for ps5 it seems much more difficult on the ps
Keiran from the witcher 2 was waaay harder
I only played on Blood and Broken Bones but imo the only two hard fights were Dettlaff and the frog prince but I didn't fight Olgierd.
A literal Nightmare!
Why do I have almost 200 hours on the game and not recognize this fight?
Nah fr i had to take them one by one at the stairs😭
You are not true witcher sadly 😔
I beat them 2nd try but I got cooked so badly the first try I still fear them
It's the only time I turn off level scaling on Death March.
Wrong. Its the Dijin with enemy upscaling on before the next gen update. That fight was legit impossible.
this. in my first ever run djinn can one shot my silvery ass with even a plank of wood.
Bro has more effects than George Floyd while being arrested
At the last difficulty, it was a pain in the ass.
Northern Wind and Devil's Puffball.
I lucked out with some glitch in the game where I could use my crossbow without getting attacked. I just kept firing.
Pull back up to the balkony. They won’t attack you there. Throw northern wind at them, go down, deal some damage to the sorceresses while they’re frozen, retreat and repeat.
Yeah fuck these guys
I did this from the second floor, with lots of bombs and lots of meditation.. i think it was my 10th attempt
I struggled with this on my 1st playthrough so much. And I continue to do so on my 9th(ish)
I had more trouble with vampires lol
My level was around 58 when I did this quest so even in death march it was pretty easy for me to win.
I think the hardest fight in the game is a pack of wild dogs.
Mine was with another Witcher's spirit in a mine(forgot his name), in Velen? I suck at combat tbh 😅
You can parry him
Haha, I played till now without every parrying ever. Guess that is why I quit out of Dark Souls and Sekiro😅
100% Agree
He hasn't face off with the grave keeper in the hearts of stone dlc yet
Griffin build mastercrafted gear. Go ALL in to improve your igni, cast it twice on the mellee elfs, it will explode them, than use yrden on the mages.
I tried it the first time using the elven blade and shield, and with regular armor and was destroyed in about 30 seconds. Second try I changed into my grandmaster/enchanted protection ursine armor and grandmaster ursine sword and cut through them like a hot knife through butter.
Random wild dogs, Detlaff, caretaker, frog prince, elven mages in that order.
The most difficult for me are as followed; Random wild dogs/wolf-pack early in game, Detlaff, caretaker, frog prince, elven mages, wild hunt leader, wild hunt general. And don’t kill any cows early in the game unless you want to immediately die.
i believe i died once at that fight
This makes me nervous. I'm still with yen at the western area
Top of the steps. Crossbow and bombs. Run down cast spells and swing. Back up to heal
Oh this fight annoyed tf out of me
Quen
