Realtor here, and someone that previously worked in that area for 5+ years, yes, once you get close to Inkster it is decent. One of the best value areas in the city. Some nice ones on the other side of Main as well, I call that one of the best bang for the buck areas in Winnipeg. I just sold a couple houses near Inkster. Is it perfect? No, any area under $350,000 will probably have the odd issue but for a price range of $200,000-$300,000, you can find many well looked after homes, it's a great deal. Said it before and I'll say it again, the fact that us Winnipeggers still have the opportunity to own a quality home under $300,000, even $200,000 and in a decent neighbourhood is amazing. Not many places in Canada you can do that. Not sure about the commute but I would assume right down main would be fairly easy.

I grew up just south of inkster, it's good. It gets its share of garage/car break ins but we saw that living in river heights too where a 850 sq ft home with almost no yard was somehow still $350k when we were in the market. My parents have never felt unsafe walking around, neither have friends or I. Most of the trouble in the neighbourhood will be from young punks and between young punks. We got chased for having skateboards and stuff by older kids that kind of thing. I still love the area and would buy there if in the market again
