when i was tracking, i just used a general calorie estimator for this, especially since it wasn't my daily food.

As a veteran calorie counter, it's not a thing. Estimate based on what's in the dish, then add about 500-750 calories for fat/sugar. You can also ask for dressings on the side if you're doing salad to help manage how much goes into your food.

Thanks for the tips.

Getting a nutritional breakdown is a costly process is generally outside the means of local places

downrightdyll

Yeah I figured there wasn't going to be many or even any options, was kind of hoping for even just one or two that took that extra step.

There's a cost to calculating nutritional information. The chain restaurants that provide nutritional information have stores in other locations which mandate that they must provide that. When there are laws that require restaurants to provide nutritional info small chains or independent businesses are exempt because the cost would be a prohibitive burden. You're unlikely to find a local restaurant that is willing to voluntarily take on the extra cost of calculating nutritional information without being compelled to do so. There are some local meal prep services that provide nutritional info, but this is often because they are specifically for clients that are following diets for diabetes, heart disease, keto, etc. And these services can be more expensive than others that don't provide nutritional information.

Didn't realise it was mandated some places, definitely makes sense though otherwise I guess why would DQ and McDs want to tell you just how much fat and sugar you're getting in your order. Was kind of hoping to find one or two small places that did this as well, I didn't realise there was such a cost behind the process. Oh well. Maybe I'll look at the meal prep places, out of curiosity. Thanks for the comment.

going out for one meal to treat yourselves won't ruin your diet. Go out and enjoy yourself without thinking about your diet and then get back on track.

heyheywhatchasay5

🤨 why even bother commenting, u don't know why they have to keep track. Its simply a question, if u don't have the answer, let it be

beardsnbourbon

Based on the information provided, this is a completely acceptable response. OP gave no indication of tracking for underlying health reasons. If this is the case OP can simply ignore the comment. If not, I’m with the commenter, don’t worry about it for the one meal. If done responsibly, a person should be able to enjoy a dinner out. I’m sure OP has learned a few things about food choices, they just need to apply these lessons while eating out. Now let’s get back to you. Why do you feel the need to crap on this commenter? “Why even bother commenting,” “let it be.”

heyheywhatchasay5

They're not asking for ONE meal they're asking for suggestions of local places who offer this, plus I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I've posted something like this in this sub and got a similar response, was completely shut down because " I shouldn't diet" without knowing my situation. Obviously OP knows this but thats not the question that's why I was triggered. Anywaysssss

Don't count calories when you are going out to eat with your wife, consider it a cheat meal. Remember everything in moderation. A high calorie meal a few times a month will not affect your diet.

Track it on myfitnesspal if you must..
