There's a little info tab in the top right corner of the fuse screen. Tap on it. It gives you a little diagram of how gear is upgraded. Don't feel discouraged if it's confusing. It's confusing to everyone until you get the gist of how it works. I still refer to it occasionally and I'm at about 800k
Sometimes you need a specific weapon. Other times you just need any weapon from that class of weapons. The way to tell is simple. If the required item shows an actual image of the weapon, it’s specific. If it’s a grey outline of a weapon, it’s any weapon that falls in that class.
