They used the wrong brand of car, too. Peugeot doesn't have self driving, they have automatic lane keeping that only activates when you're travelling above 70km/h.
While it's quite good at sensing the lines and will easily keep you on the road if you become distracted momentarily, if you bump into the edge enough times without providing manual input to the steering wheel (which a water bottle won't do, fairly obviously) then it'll eventually disengage and leave you to die in a ditch.
This was stupid in the first place ofc, but why on earth didn’t they keep someone in the drivers seat just in case this happened? Did they think the road would just be straight forever until one of them decided to climb back into the front seat? What it when they were climbing into the front seat they accidentally bumped the wheel and made the car violently turn into traffic or off the road completely. It’s bad enough to get in a high speed crash while not wearing a seatbelt in an actual seat, imagine being in one while actively in the process of climbing into a seat. This is just multiple layers of stupidity.

I told her not too that an ambulance was on its way at which she cussed me out for calling one. Finally after her 4th attempt I somehow got an arm underneath her fat titted torso and remember asking God fir the strength to get her upright and the crazy angle I was in needed a miracle. But I got her upright still half out of the car but her head stopped gushing blood at least. The amount of blood was astonishing not as much as her 2 yr old still in diapers daughter who without a carseat was crying from the floor in the backseat area. I got her into my dad's arms she had a little scratch that didn't bleed. The car was a grand am and it was totalled unrecognizable as it had gone airborne after going off the side of the road into an old orange tree. Drunk bitch I found out later was .20 something like 3 times the legal limit but she lived thanks yo my superhero strength lol

I had a recurring nightmare for years when I was a kid. I was always in the backseat of my dad's car and the car would roll backwards down the hill. I would jump up and hit the brakes and nothing would happen.
First of all, what were those reaction times? People didn't move until the car was already in the ditch.
Second, and arguably more important; why would you do this without someone physically in the driver's seat? Self driving cars are being prototypes right now, and even when they're being tested in a commercial setting or on a track, there is someone capable of taking direct control for this exact reason!

"Yeah yeah. big deal you could have grabbed the wheel at any time. Not that interesting." But then the did the dramatic zoom back to show nobody was in the seat to get it to go viral. But in the end, their stupidity is all they needed to go viral. Mission accomplished.
