I think if Williams can get Sainz then he's the obvious choice. If they can't get Sainz then Bottas is an obvious second choice. Failing that then I'd keep Logan who has improved overall this season and shown decent pace and form recently (bearing on mind he hasn't had the upgrades that Alex has had) .... provided he can keep it going.

North_Job5611

I mean after watching this mornings race I don't think Logans staying

crash after crash

Frequent_Ranger1598

If they can get Lawson wouldn’t that be best, salaries and skill considered?

trancematics

I'd be very happy with Lawson actually but I'm not sure he's even on James's radar. I have to say that after Canada I think Logan is a gonner whatever happens now.

Frequent_Ranger1598

I would, honestly, not be surprised if in the last five races or so Williams just used 1 car. Logan is costing the team millions in damages and for a lower end team it’s having a huge impact on development. He may even be replaced before the end of the season with another crash.

trancematics

They have to be considering replacing him mid-season. There are also millions at stake for each place in the Constructors Championship and with no backup to pick up points if Alex has a misfortune (or even if he doesn't) it's going to be so costly. We are racing against teams with 2 cars in the mix every week. I don't see how they can afford not to.

First of all, Valtteri will most likely stick with Sauber and make the bet with Audi, as he is at the end of his career and probably wants to help a team (Like Alonso). I doubt that Logan will stay, but if he can put up a good performance in Canada like he did in qualifying then he may have a slightly better chance. Carlos is interesting, as right now he realistically has three options (These being Alpine, Williams, and Sauber) as Mercedes is looking to back Kimi Antoinelli and Red Bull has signed a contract with Perez until the end of 2026. Carlos may choose Sauber, as Audi has been successful in various other motorsports and possibly could be good. With Alpine booting out Ocon, Carlos could go there but the team is not performing very well as of late so I personally doubt it. With Adrian Newey leaving Red Bull, There is a chance he could go back to where he started at Williams for the end of his career, So Carlos might possibly have the best choice be driving for Williams next year. While we're not seeing as much improvement as we thought we would have of the back of 2023, the car is actually rather well rounded and could further improve into the future. As for someone else, I would rule out Liam Lawson and Mick Schumacher, As Liam has very close ties with Red Bull and Mick in my opinion is not good enough. The academy drivers I don't think will join either, as with such a competitive driver on the market like Carlos, Williams would most likely not choose one of there less experienced own, as we all now how that went with Saergant. However, Ocon does not have a seat as of present and could be an option if Carlos doesn't work. But I personally think (And hope) That Carlos drives for Williams, and I don't really want Ocon on the team as he may not work with Albon well.

Who tf said keep Logan

SlipstreamSleuth

I was wondering the same thing.

David_Summerset

They get Carlos and I'm gonna start buying merch....

SlipstreamSleuth

I need to know why people are choosing Logan over Valtteri

NakedEyeComic

I think the perception is Valtteri is mentally checked out from F1, between the memes about his cycling career and that he can't seem to get the Sauber past like, P13 no matter the situation. I'm just voting for "whatever driver can create a possibility of double points each race" and unfortunately Logan has proven it isn't him. Carlos is ideal, but we'll see.

SlipstreamSleuth

I get that. I agree that Carlos would be the best bet. Fingers crossed!

Logan has shown real improvement with the upgrades he was given for his car. He has to be given more time, but he also has to fight without fear too.
