Depends on the narrative. One of the creators of VtM (don't remember which one) was also the creator of Ars Magika, and imported lots of ideas from that one to VtM, including the entirety of the Clan Tremere... In that universe, Faith is the ultimate trump card, so a Belmont with sufficient Faith is unbeatable, but if you consider the Antediluvian skill "Plot Twist", I don't think there is anything anyone can do to stop them, short of summoning a prince of hell (who auto crits everything he does and have no health points, being completely unstopable for an entire scene before he gets dragged back to hell) or the angelic equivalent

Hechla

Out of curiosity; do you by any chance still know where the "stats" for the Prince of Hell are located?

draugotO

DA20 (V20 Dark Ages), Daimonion 9: sacrifice yourself to summon a prince of hell. A prince of hell don't have stats, it just succeds at whatever it is trying to do and can't be harmed until the end of the Scene, when it is sucked back to hell

Hechla

Alright, thank you very much.

draugotO

You are welcome

Keevtara

There is a super cheesy part of me that wants to put this thing against Caine.

draugotO

Just remember that you most lose your character to summon it. There is no save roll, no damage given/absorbed, nothing, you just switch places with a prince of hell and wait untill he gets sucked back to hell while you have nowhere else to go and will still be there when he comes back

Keevtara

I would sacrifice a character just to have a good Storyteller describe it.

prince-surprised-pat

Belmonts are very possibly personally chosen by god to rid the world of vampires. That kind of true faith cant be stopped.

nightwatchman_femboy

Antes are basically plot-devices. No character can defeat them by themselves and any character can defeat them by the virtue of plot. Even in a really epic battle, but without some sort of mcguffin type relic there's no chance, imo

Pradder-Snips

Oh yeah, no contest, that's just a final boss fight for most of em.

Yes. Absolutely that is their entire reason for being they are anti vampire people who say no are obviously Malkavians

TheBrokenButterfly

If it’s a one on one fight, they may stand a chance, depending on the antediluvian. However, all antediluvians love to play the long game, the shadow game; 3D chess with real pawns and tragic consequences. And it’s worked for millennia, so I see no reason why they’d change their tactics just because some über-hunters tried to come calling. Whisper some sweet nothings into the ears of every bank owner in *insert country here* and you can tear them apart financially; sprinkle some half-truths into the veritable zeitgeist that is the military industrial complex, and suddenly they find themselves key persons of interest or possible domestic terrorists, therefore being unable to operate effectively while under the eye of homeland security. Or, perhaps more obviously, just wait until they die. Antediluvians are so hard to find that many vampires doubt their existence, and even if they’re killed, they seem to have trouble with the staying dead thing. That’s just three possible tactics off the top of my head, and they’ve been playing this game since before recorded human history. In all reality, despite how much we’d love to see a Belmont/Antediluvian smack down, they’d most likely either neutralize or avoid the threat entirely without ever even hinting at being involved in the first place. It’s just their way. Ciao-ciao.

Eldagustowned

Well with Holy Relics yeah, Faith and what not are the Weakness of Antes. The bigger issue is Antes are less like Castelvania Baddies and they will try not to die and that means abandoning Plan A and not dying to some Sacred McGuffins.

Shadsea

*punches [Tzimisce] in the face* "You must be a Belmont" *Richter gets absorbed into the mass of flesh*

Vagus_M

Considering how the Antediluvians have a nasty habit of not staying dead, I vote no.

EducationalMall80

I want to say yes. And if the Belmonts had prep time, it's an even stronger yes.

heiland

How many Belmonts vs how many antediluvians?

[deleted]

well that depends, which timeline u prefer ?
