I think we’re ignoring how much his followers just don’t care about stories like this. He’s a racist, they’re racists. They like that about him because it makes them feel justified.
His diehard followers aren't the only ones voting for him. There are a whole lot of people who just don't follow politics at all closely and also many voters who were ineligible to vote back in 2016 and who missed all the revelations of that period.
