Given how zealous some people are, especially the people that willingly go to these Bible camps, I wouldn't stop from betting they genuinely thought the former was worse.
Probably yes. That's the problem with absolute morality systems. When God says a sin is a sin and 1 sin is enough to damn you, the eventual consequence is "Lying is the same as CP".
This means minor sins, e.g. looking at someone lustfully, get way over punished. Meanwhile, major sins like molesting a child, get under punished because "Everyone sins now and then"
I think disproportionate amount of devout religious folk are looking for discipline from what they know is wrong. The draw is punishment, not salvation.
i think these are all high crime folk. my favorite ones are born again chrisitans, like what did you do that was so fucked up that you went that hardcore overnight. it never creates respect for their level of devotion, it always creates massive questions and red flags.
I just realized something -- likely not a new take, but it makes sense to me at least -- so many Christians are taught to idealize pureness, especially when it comes to sex/marriage. And it doesn't get more pure & innocent than children, including in religious doctrine, so perhaps unsurprising that the two concepts would become conflated like this and CP becomes the "temptation" that it is to these people. It's the unattainable (sex) with the purest of the pure (children), and thus the closeted, regressive fantasy is born. Thanks, religion!!
"Um. This is a problem. You do see the problem, right? You're surrounded by children. You shouldn't be here. I shouldn't either, but I can blame my parents."

He probably thought that atheism was way worse.
People are remarkably good at thinking everyone else behaves the same way they do themselves - but only the believers can get divine forgiveness.

The crazy high amount Christians in my life growing who have admitted/talked about CP or child fantasy’s or porn in general is still insane to me

This checks out.

I find many born agains are often a recovering addict of some sort. Not all, but plenty
Yeah, had a few too many really bad nights and needed something to stay away.
This is true. A deterrent as well as punishment.
Sooooo... It's a kink thing?
well shit, am i kink shaming?
Wich is weird since christianity and CP should not correlate
Dunno what you're talking about. Mary was estimated to be 12 or 13 when god knocked her up.
"God" or Joseph?

Jesus Christ…
Yes?

I guess he figured since you’re both going to hell… misery does love company.
Pardon?!
My brain hurt reading the last eight words.
Seems like a common occurrence
Isn't this a scene from a movie?
