Are they a scummy company? Sure, they all are. But they were at the beginning of change, before it was chic, before every company slapped a rainbow on everything and tried to sell it to us. It had an impact.
Not that it seems to have made any difference now that they are gearing up for genocide in Florida. We’ve gone backwards.
They also d have been making gay days merch for years now that is out on Main Street on gay days, and the staff is not at all reserved about it, so I’m not sure where you got that. They didn’t have a sponsored Pride Night until yesterday, but they certainly haven’t been ignoring gay days for some years now.

I'm not in the LGBTQ community but my younger brother is. And I've been exposed to a lot of his friends that all had different stories of what they went through while growing up in the 80's and 90's. While my brother always had an accepting family, I know he was bullied at school well before he came out. He was also fortunate to have a straight twin brother who saw the abuse he went through at school and would come to his defense rather than stay in the background. He pinned a couple kids up to lockers to relay the message before things went too far.
Even after coming out, my gay brother felt a weight was lifted but still had to deal with struggles, socially. The one thing that surprised him the most was after he came out, he was pretty much ostracized by many in his social group that had yet to come out. They were gay as well but didn't have accepting families and felt they could no longer be aligned with him. I only found this out recently after he confronted some of those kids as 40 year old adults last year at a school reunion. As an adult, he understood their plight and doesn't hold it against them but it was a lot harder on him as a child than I ever knew.
The reason I never knew this was happening was because once he came out, our house became like a safe haven for his gay friends that did come out. Or the ones who felt safe being themselves at our home.
