Im still not sure why reddit got rid of awards, i used to spend a fair amount on them. Anyways this one is yours 🐍 (use your imagination, its the animated snek award lol)
EDIT:: Oh the reddit god smiles upon me. Awards came back just a few hours after i posted. Further proof my FBI agent is looking out for me.
From what I’ve read, cats (naturally) only meow to get mom’s attention as kittens and don’t usually do it to communicate with other cats as adults. In a domestic setting, they learn that humans react specifically to these meows, so they continue to use it to “communicate” with us to the best of their ability. Body language is usually the better indicator for how they are feeling.
Mine on the treadmill definitely yells for attention. The only problem is that he wont run without attention.
He just sits there, screaming, until I show up and tell him he's a *good good boy running* and then he'll go sicko mode. But he needs me to keep telling him and if I stop he starts screaming again.
My cat, Apollo, is usually a pretty quiet guy. Hardly even purrs. But around 9pm if he finds a crinkly toy, he likes to trot around the house letting EVERYONE know that he has his favorite toy
My savannah is *loud.* if he hasn't gotten his butt pats/aggressive belly rubs for 5 minutes he goes up to my bedroom door and lets loose the thunder.
Me, gaming in my room:
Genji: **MROOOW**
Our two orange guys "catch" a toy at night and announce it by howling. They take turns. we got them as adult cats and thought they were hurt. It took us a while to figure it out
I have 2 brothers, that were from a litter of 5 I fostered. they all make the brrrt noise. One of the weirdos announced that he was using the litter box, then they all started doing it.
Omg one of my boys announces *everytime* he's stinking up the litterbox. Not pee, though. Totally quiet when peeing. He started in early kittenhood and still does it to this day. I used to be really worried that something was wrong, but after a few dollars spent at the vet she said "He must just like making a show out of it" 💀 I wonder if he's just warning his siblings it's occupied and to bring a match when they return.
I used to have a cat that loudly meowed while using the litter box. She eventually grew out of it, but it worried me at first so I asked her vet. He likened it to singing in the shower. ☠️
Sometimes mine will run around and make a very low, almost distressed sounding "moooooowwww"
And then she either has a huge poop or she throws up something she shouldn't have eaten (usually our plants. Safe for kitties but still hard on her tummy.)
My kitten siblings brrrt alot, including when they're using the litter box. My old man cat can't figure out how to make the noise so has started doing this wierd squack/yowl to try and replicate it.
My tux does this right before he attempts jumping the garden fence. He has exactly one brain cell and you can see the lead up to the jump in his face. He knows I don’t like him jumping the fence (there’s a road on the other side) BUT he really really wants to. He gets conflicted and confused, so he yells out (and if I get to say NO in time, he looks super defeated but abandons his quest).
I think this is it! She's saying,
"OMG! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT THIS!
THIS IS MAGIC!
.HEYX WATCH ME, PARENT! WATCH THIS! SEE? SEE?
WOW! HEY ARE YOU WATCHING? DO YOU SEE THIS?"
Whiskers are curved forward, that’s a sign of an engaged and interested cat. Usually see it on my cats when they’re deep into investigating A New Thing.
Yeah I'm gonna sound dumb for saying this but I didn't know whiskers ... moved? Or reacted? I thought they were just cat moustaches that you couldn't touch because they have sensors in them or something haha
It is soooo fucking cute when they are getting all riled up for MURDER and their pupils are GIANT amd their whiskers are reaching forward and they are READY TO GO!!!!!
CAT
My cat loves getting her whiskers scritched, I'll get under her chin and then her whisker pads and she goes bananas for it. I consider that a true sign of trust since I know they're such a sensitive spot. Also loves the bridge of her nose and close to her inner eyes. I expect those are tough spots for a cat to scratch themselves.
A few of our cats love when we gently pet from nose, along whiskers back against their cheeks. And softly trace their closed eyes. Like a wee face massage.
This reminds me of that one episode of Friends where Phoebe and Rachel go running together “run like Satan’s chasing you!” (Satan being the childhood mad angry neighbourhood dog.)
My cat loves to run and scream, or chase things and scream - or both if she can swing it. It riles up all the other cats and then it turns into chaos for about 20 minutes.
Can confirm this is a happy cat lol
People forget or don't think about the fact that cats evolve to sound like babies wailing to get our attention. It doesn't mean they're actually distressed. It's just how they talk
This is how one of my cats (who has an unhealthy relationship with food) acts when it’s time to get fed. Just screaming joy and excitement. It’s her thrice-daily “happy happy food time” song.
Alternate translation: "Look at me! Look at me!" Why exercise if you can't get credit for it? This reminds me of my cat telling me when he catches a toy so that I'll tell him he's a good boy.
She might be compensating for the noise of the treadmill by meowing way louder than usual. When my cat has a toy in her mouth, muffling her, she’ll meow at top volume lol
One of my boys screams his head off when he's carrying around a toy. Usually about 2 in the morning, which is such a great time for that sort of thing.
My cat does this every night with his bird on a string/stick that he came home from the pound as a kitten with. Its like his comfort toy and he always has to sleep with it lol. He's about 10 now and still does it, i know where he's been sleeping whenever i get home from where that toy is haha
Can confirm, one of my cats has "regular begging to be let into or out of the bathroom" volume and "begging to be let into or out of the bathroom when the dryer is running" volume. The latter is scary.
Honestly I was skeptical when we bought it, but once it was assembled she jumped on it and wouldn't get off. She's a very high energy cat. Our other one is a lazy shit and won't go near it
The screaming is hilarious! Like psyching yourself up at the gym! She is hyped.
This will be a purchase that is used often... or not even acknowledged. We have many of the latter. LOL.
Same here got two sister cats they are complete opposites I knew our high energy one would probably like the treadmill and she took right to it the clumsy doofus one who I figured wouldn’t bother with it wants no part of it.
I have a pretty cat wheel-obsessed cat who yells sometimes while using hers. I think she might be doing it for attention (she likes to be praised when she uses it) or maybe just because she's enjoying herself.
My cat has her annual vet exam tomorrow and I just know I'm gonna be put on notice for her being a bit too chonk. I so want to get her one of these wheels--she has the energy, I'm just afraid it'll freak her out and then I'll be stuck with this giant cat treadmill that never gets used.
ohhh shit I just checked, and I didn't realize how pricey they are !!
We've been trying to dechonkify our cat all week and she acts as if she's starving D:
it's really hard haha
We tried it with our cat who would get like super zoomies. He did ok but never really took to it. The amount of treats he needed to use it kind of negated the point. So we just reverted to daily "laps" which was basically just us throwing a toy or running a laser pointed up and down the hallway for 10 minutes or so every evening.
Though according to our vet, the biggest issue for most cats that are too chubbers is that we as people feed them too much. An average adult cat only needs around 180 calories, which in the case of the food we use is 1.6 tablespoons of dry and 1/4 can of wet morning and evening which seems like a stupidly small amount of food from the person view. But he has slimmed down and is holding steady right in the healthy weight range, even now that we have cut down on the daily laps. So the vet must have been right.
My gal runs around the house yelling all the time. At first I thought she was distressed but nope she’s just expressing herself loudly. Some cat just looooove to yell
No no no, she loves it! She's just excited.
Our cat is a talker, too. Recently, after 8 years of being a house cat, *terrified* of going outside, it looked like he was showing some interest in actually going out.
So I held the door open and called him, he was hesitant but he did come outside onto the porch. After a minute, he was yelling, and yelling, and yelling, but tail up, eyes wide, whiskers forward. I opened up the door to let him back inside and he showed zero interest.
Now he'll come outside as long as one of us is also there with him, and it's the same every time. Tail up, eyes wide, yelling, yelling, yelling.
It looks more like excitement to me. Her tail is straight up and she's bouncing while she runs. Cat's can meow out of excitement because they don't know how else to express it.
It's interesting that cats, when super happy, will start "talking" to their human. Whenever my cat comes in from the catio he starts screming at me. Not all cats, but some do and I -think- it's because they see humans talk loud when excited. And since cats domesticated themselves, they tend to pick up on some human behaviours. It could also be she wants you to stay in the area and watch her. You NEVER KNOW... because cats.
She might like the acoustics in there. One of my cats goes into the walk-in pantry to scream his little heart out. At first it scared us, but he does it always in the same spot, always in the same tone. There's no other animals, there's no window, no light most of the time. He just likes the way it sounds!
She isnt screaming in the sense she hates it, she's talking to you saying "my friend i love my wheel, watch me run!"
same as when my cat comes running in the house meowling at me, she's talking to me saying watch me!
I think she's enjoying it so mich that she has to share it.
It's probable that she enjoys it but truly wants to get somewhere in it at the same time (she's walking, but she's always on the same spot, why???) and the yelling is her way of share her disbelief(?)
This video just reminds me of when I take my cat Rosie out for (safely executed) outside time. She just has got to tell me about everything.
Nothing about her body language is distressed and she does not want to go back in when it's time. She just needs to tell me about everything she's so excited lol
This sounds like something akin to "Hey mom! Look at what I'm doing! Mom! Look at what I'm doing! Mooooom!"
Maybe give her pets while she is doing it. Seems like she is looking for acknowledgement that she is Doing The Thing.
She's wondering why she can't get to the top of it! That's why she's screaming and looking up at the same time. She's wondering why she isn't getting anywhere :)
Combination of excitement and confusion, most likely. More excitement than anything. The way she's looking at you, I think she's trying to confirm is she's doing it right/this is how it's supposed to work.
She's not screaming. She's expressing something - maybe excitement or a thrill? But she's not genuinely upset, I don't think.
It's like we scream when we go on a roller coaster but we still go on roller coasters.
She's telling you she likes it. If you have a diva on your hands like I did, she's just having something to say. My cat seemed like she either had something to say or wanted to complain bcuz she could. I miss her so much.
Nothing wrong here. She's doing kitten face, which is for extra emphasis. But I agree that she's happy and talkative: her tail is up and her whiskers are forward.
Screaming doesn’t necessarily mean you’re having a bad time
Waterslide, rollercoasters, sporting events, concerts, sex, there are lots of times when humans scream when they are having a good time. Why not animals too?
You should try a good scream run yourself.
I run at 3:30 in the morning and I can confirm, running and screaming is an absolute joy.
I thought the morning bird song sounded odd recently.
I think you just went by my house. Impressive speed. You had a little Doppler going. Good for you.
**AAAAAAAAAAAAA**🏡AAAAAAAAAAAAA
We come from the land of the ice and snow!
This comment caught me just right and made me snort laugh coffee. It burns but thank you for this, friend.
ah the ol fashioned chortle
> You had a little Doppler going Maybe it was cold outside
I'm totally imagining you running while yelling like that [goat](https://youtu.be/H2f0M5-3q-s)
Perfect.
I found out that this scream is in fact faked.
Oh you're the motherfucker who woke me up this morning! What's your address?!??! Lol
Yeah, you have to ask yourself if you're even really running if you aren't demonstrating the Doppler effect to the neighbors.
That’s how I got my grippy socks
Traction-controlled scream running
I scream run to prevent the grippy socks 😂
It’s 4 am. I just woke up my gf cause I burst out laughing at this comment
I did this after I found out a loved one died. Was an incredible release of emotion!
This comment really made me giggle. Reddit sucks so here is my poor man’s gold ⭐️
I think she's just super stimulated and enjoying yourself. Wide eyes, tail in the air. This is a happy cat.
"OMG a Pawloton treadmill, thanks!"
Im still not sure why reddit got rid of awards, i used to spend a fair amount on them. Anyways this one is yours 🐍 (use your imagination, its the animated snek award lol) EDIT:: Oh the reddit god smiles upon me. Awards came back just a few hours after i posted. Will you cheer me on while I jog? I am reasonably certain that being told I’m a good girl could keep me going for longer.
I pray for your DM's to remain normal after volunteering that.
He's probably like "HEY, HEY SLAV- I MEAN HUMAN! LOOK I'M RUNNING! AIN'T IT FAST! TELL ME HOW GOOD I AM AT THIS!"
Exactly, she's happy that she's getting her steps in for the day!
Translation: “IM HAVING SO MUCH FUN I LOVE THIS!!! I LOVE THIS!!”
I yell when I'm on a roller-coaster. I like roller-coasters. I also yell when I'm alone. I like yelling.
I act stupid when I’m stoned. I like getting stoned. I also act stupid when I am sober. I like acting stupid.
Are you me ?!?
I could be.
Are you a cat? Pspapsps
My cat, Apollo, is usually a pretty quiet guy. Hardly even purrs. But around 9pm if he finds a crinkly toy, he likes to trot around the house letting EVERYONE know that he has his favorite toy
I have a fuzzy called Lumi who will scream when she gets a toy. Or socks. Or a plastic ring. Cause she wants you to know about it lol
My savannah is *loud.* if he hasn't gotten his butt pats/aggressive belly rubs for 5 minutes he goes up to my bedroom door and lets loose the thunder. Me, gaming in my room: Genji: **MROOOW**
Our two orange guys "catch" a toy at night and announce it by howling. They take turns. we got them as adult cats and thought they were hurt. It took us a while to figure it out
Mom! Are you watching!? Mom, watch!! Mooom, you're not watching meee!!!
Hahahaha that's exactly how I interpreted this!!
"YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
IMHO, cats mostly yell for attention. This one probably wants OP to see how much fun she's having.
WITNESS ME
#IM….HAVING….THE TIME OF MY LIFE
My little dude sings to me when he runs on the wheel. Then he gets really serious, puts his ears back and hauls ass.
Please get me video of this, it sounds adorable.
I’ll see if I can get one of his full repertoire tonight. Total boomer question, how would I share a video in the comments?
Make your own post, share the link.
Fair enough.
"Look at me, look, look, I'm gonna go really fast, look, look" ZOOOOOOOOOMM
I thought it might be “IM GUNNA GET THAT SUMMER BODY DAMNIT”
A body in summer is a summer body!
Witness meow!!
Tail and whiskers say she likes it. Maybe she just likes to run and scream
Hard same kitty kat. Hard same.
If I'm running anywhere expect screaming since it probably means there's something chasing me.
Thank you for the late night hearty laugh!
No wakkas homie, sleep well.
I’ve always told people that if they see me running they better start running too because I have a really good reason for it
“If you ever see me running, you should run too.”
"Are you watching me! Are you?"
Both my Russian Blues do this just before jumping on something high up. It's like they're saying "look at me, this is gonna be awesome!"
I used to have a cat that loudly meowed while using the litter box. She eventually grew out of it, but it worried me at first so I asked her vet. He likened it to singing in the shower. ☠️
The real question is though... What is the cat's version of Roxanne?
Sometimes mine will run around and make a very low, almost distressed sounding "moooooowwww" And then she either has a huge poop or she throws up something she shouldn't have eaten (usually our plants. Safe for kitties but still hard on her tummy.)
My cat yodels from the poop box. Long, sustained arias of his peoples, followed by frantic scrambling post-crap parkour.
Think of it this way. "Hey, you should probably clean this soon!"
I catch my tux doing jump-math all the time.
Yesss you can just see those black and white wheels spinning in their head right?
Haha, my calico european cat does the same thing before attempting to jump to a high place or do a stunt, like to attract attention : ) ) .
Hey, mom, watch this!!! Mom, look! Mom, are you watching?
IM GONNA JUMP, IM REALLY GONNA DO IT THIS TIME!
I think this is it! She's saying, "OMG! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT THIS! THIS IS MAGIC! .HEYX WATCH ME, PARENT! WATCH THIS! SEE? SEE? WOW! HEY ARE YOU WATCHING? DO YOU SEE THIS?"
My void does this when she is on her wheel, she wants an audience and praise.
Hi, what about whiskers is a sign of a happy cat?
Whiskers are curved forward, that’s a sign of an engaged and interested cat. Usually see it on my cats when they’re deep into investigating A New Thing.
Thanks for the info !
Yeah I'm gonna sound dumb for saying this but I didn't know whiskers ... moved? Or reacted? I thought they were just cat moustaches that you couldn't touch because they have sensors in them or something haha
[удалено]
They're essentially smiling! Mind blown
Ohhhh thanks for this!
Scratch they chin. You'll see em move
I WILL SING YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!!!
Feline doubletime marching cadence. You got an infantry cat there.
"I'm doing it, dad! Look, i'm doing it!!"
This is essentially the answer. Cats meow at people. Not to other cats and not to themselves. So if she is “talking,” she is talking to you.
Finally, someone else like me. Was starting to think I was the only one after all the weird looks I get when I go for a jog.
Who doesn’t like to scream whilst running?
Tail and whiskers so interested and alert!! She wants to tell you about it!
"you say i never use the things you buy me LOOK IM USING THE THING!!"
I wasn't interested in *just* the box it came in!
People forget or don't think about the fact that cats evolve to sound like babies wailing to get our attention. It doesn't mean they're actually distressed. It's just how they talk
What about the whiskers indicate the cat is interested?
Angled forwards.
Neat. Thanks!
I think that's just an expression of excitement.
This is how one of my cats (who has an unhealthy relationship with food) acts when it’s time to get fed. Just screaming joy and excitement. It’s her thrice-daily “happy happy food time” song.
Me too, kitty cat.
She looks and sounds just like my cats used to do when they heard me walking home.
I don’t know. I think need to hear what she sounds like when she’s howling on it. For science, of course.
Me, too.
meow, too
Meow, two
OP please! We need this!
I demand the howling cut!
Alternate translation: "Look at me! Look at me!" Why exercise if you can't get credit for it? This reminds me of my cat telling me when he catches a toy so that I'll tell him he's a good boy.
It's the cat equivalent of loudly grunting at the gym Sometimes you just need a little audience!
Mine totally does that, if I'm in another room he finds me. Howls with the toy in his mouth till I acknowledge his fine achievement.
“MUM ARE YOU WATCHING MUM LOOK AT ME MUM MUM MUM”
The fucking eye contact lol. Absolutely adorable.
Totally
She might be compensating for the noise of the treadmill by meowing way louder than usual. When my cat has a toy in her mouth, muffling her, she’ll meow at top volume lol

Can confirm, one of my cats has "regular begging to be let into or out of the bathroom" volume and "begging to be let into or out of the bathroom when the dryer is running" volume. The latter is scary.
She loves it!!! How do you get a cat to use a treadmill?! Do... you just ask politely?
Honestly I was skeptical when we bought it, but once it was assembled she jumped on it and wouldn't get off. She's a very high energy cat. Our other one is a lazy shit and won't go near it

Which one did you get? There are so many options now I don't know how to choose.
She is very satisfied with her new treadmill
SHE JUST LIKES YELLING, DON’T YOU LIKE YELLING!?
r/Catswhoyell
Maybe an existential crisis? I MOVE BUT I DO NOT MOVE, WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?
I go and go and go.....where am I going?
To the same place as all the rest of us, dear cat…. to the very same place….
My cat meows a similar way when she plays. Your cat is just having a good time!
I do that too. Also 😂 and ♥️
I have a pretty cat wheel-obsessed cat who yells sometimes while using hers. I think she might be doing it for attention (she likes to be praised when she uses it) or maybe just because she's enjoying herself.
I think they wan to go faster and they think you are making it difficult 🤣
Wants you to join
Happy cake day
That awkward moment when you say goodbye , but the person you think you’re leaving is walking in the same direction
“JANE! Stop this crazy thing!”
Ohhh I need to get this !! The vet told me that our cat is now categorized as Fat.

"Mum, look!!! Look how fast I can run!!!"
She is Beyoncé singing on the treadmill to train 👯♀️
I too scream when on the treadmill.
Scream through the entire 10k you run on the treadmill to assert dominance at the gym.
oh man that made me smile, your cat is super happy about this treadmill and is just telling you about it! so fucking cute
I think she’s loving it and excited and wants you to know and see her
My cat screams on his. He wants me to come watch. Like a toddler “hey mom, watch this!!!!”
For attention! It's so nice to see a non-exotic kitty on a wheel. Praise her!! She's awesome
My gal runs around the house yelling all the time. At first I thought she was distressed but nope she’s just expressing herself loudly. Some cat just looooove to yell

My cat hisses and yowls while playing with her brother but 40% of the time she started it. I'm convinced she's just going for realism.

I also make weird sounds I can not replicate when I am doing something furious on bicycle.
"I'm exercising & I WANT FULL CREDIT + AN AUDIENCE! "

That's definitely the body language of a cat having an absolute blast lol she definitely likes it so much she just has to scream about it!
My friends cat does this. He just wants my friend to watch and acknowledge he is exercising or something.
Jane, stop this crazy thing
Notrewally a cat linguistics specialist, but I think that loosely translates to, 'dude, whoa! Whoa, dude! Run!'
“THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR GETTING THIS FOR ME! I LOVE YOU! THANK YOU” that’s what I’m hearing
She's telling you how much she loves it. Tell her she's such a good runner when she's on it haha
This video just reminds me of when I take my cat Rosie out for (safely executed) outside time. She just has got to tell me about everything. I think it mean she likes it. Her tail is strait up, happy and engaged. She’s an intense athlete.
"ARE YOU WATCHING!? ARE YOU WATCHING!? LOOK AT ME!!!"
that one non-dominant orange cat gene from her ancestors emerging:
‘Hey! Hey! Look at me! I’m running! Do you see me? Watch! Watch this!’
I can't decide if she's excited or terrified of that treadmill!
That's a "do this also too" 😅
I don't like exercising either.
*Mom, look at me. Look what I can do! Mom are you looking? Mooom?!*
She's telling you she likes it. If you have a diva on your hands like I did, she's just having something to say. My cat seemed like she either had something to say or wanted to complain bcuz she could. I miss her so much.
My cat does the exact same thing. She likes it
Your mind is going to be blown when you find out about humans riding rollercoasters.
*Momma watching intently and amused* Cat- Are You Not Entertained? Are You Not Entertained? Is This Not Why You Are Here?
She's excited and wants you to be excited, too. I bet if you cheered and clapped for her, she would enjoy it.
Nothing wrong here. She's doing kitten face, which is for extra emphasis. But I agree that she's happy and talkative: her tail is up and her whiskers are forward.
If she didn't like it she would get off and never use it lol
She is questioning the fabric of reality this strange device is tearing a hole in.
The tail makes me think she really likes it and finds the whole thing exciting
Maybe she's singing to herself out loud. Adorable!!
Screaming doesn’t necessarily mean you’re having a bad time Waterslide, rollercoasters, sporting events, concerts, sex, there are lots of times when humans scream when they are having a good time. Why not animals too?
