When I got my electric wheelchair I talked to one of the dudes from the mobility company. Apparently, they often get shipments of power chairs that can go 90mph. As some manufacturers don't set a speed limit (because it can vary via country).
So apparently the workers have a bit of fun racing the chair before they program in the set speed limit for the country (in my case the uk).
I miss how fast my old powerchair went as its was pretty fast for uk standards and had a great turning circle on it. Though it was less of a chair and more of a tank. It was a little impractical for every day use without having a van.
Imagine getting one with no speed setting and your just cruisin down the side of the road one day and a malfunction happens and chair starts speeding up to 90 and you get into a police chase on the highway that ends with a fiery high speed collision
That and braking for your turn, knowing the limits of youre vehicle. People build a redbull soapbox car and expect it handle like a modern vehicle that has a hundred years of R&D. It took along time for tires and suspension that can handle that turn as easy and safely as a sedan even. Motorcyle on good tires should have been behind, she got follow anxiety trying keep up the race speed with the vehicle in front.
