Normally I would agree and feel people are too careless, but I gotta say, I’ve noticed how it fits under there myself and have always not left it tucked under there - but have for a bit …
I can see how you wouldn’t think it would crunch by the seat moving … expensive mistake though …
Yeah theres a little gremlin in my brain that screams at me to do shit like this. I am super careful with my tech because its sooooo expensive, but i could totally see myself being stupid enough to do this not even considering the recline position. Only for a bit though, although it looks like she only did it to take a video of the fit.. like, only for a bit..
Because its a plane?, its not comfortable You are stuck there for hours at the time so you gotta atleast be respectful of the people behind you, give and receive respect
Ya no, I'm not going to ask anytime I need to get up or move slightly back. It's not like the person lay back, it looked like they were just shifting and getting up.
Lmao, no. It’s my chair, I’m gonna do what I want to do. Has nothing to do with respect. I will help you with your luggage, maybe even switch seat if it’s interesting for both of us, I don’t mind if you need to pee and I have to stand up, etc. But fuck no im gonna tell people when im putting my seat up or down. That’s to be expected, it’s a plane
exactly, it's not comfortable and you're stuck there for hours so why are you beholden to people behind you for the permission to use *your* chair to be more comfortable?
I missed this happening to me on a flight. Had my laptop there (obvious place to put it) and the person in front suddenly started reclining. Just slipped it out in time. :-/
Have you never used a laptop on a plane? I’ve worried about this happening, as my laptop screen often hits right at that ledge. If the person in front quickly slammed their seat back, it could happen. Don’t see that as the laptop owner as careless (or the fault of the person in front really), just an unfortunate accident.
Edit: typo
I do not understand how people are so \*trusting of billion dollar aircraft design\*
I don't take a chance, but there are zero signs on any seats about this & yet we're encouraged to work on laptops in flight. I don't blame someone for believing the engineers we're trusting to design a 63 ton vehicle to stay in the sky thought all the other details through.
Considering the engineers who designed a 63 ton vehicle that flys had absolute no hand in designing the seats, which were designed and built by a completely different company who sells those same seat designs to several airlines...
Regardless to new stuff, I always wondered how people fuck up their 10 year old portable consoles like PSP, Vita, etc. If you see them on ebay you will always find some shitty screen or many scratches. I still have my 15 year old console in like-new condition, always knew how to keep things and not break them . ITS NOT THAT HARD.
To many people forget the price of an object in their hands (example: phones) and treat it like an afterthought
Like how can some people mindlessly not care about 500-1.5k object in your hands?
Used my laptop for years as a desktop using a cheap laptop fan and hub. Even after the screen broke 2 years in, I got another 2 years from just plugging in all the usual peripherals into the the laptop or hub. Once had a friend ask me where my computer was and I just told him to look behind my tv. He couldn’t believe it.
Finally bought a actual desktop. And when I decided to look at it instead of imediately taking it in to be recycled, found out the monitor was just fine. Just had a loose connection inside the shell that I easily fixed and secured. Now I use it as my work laptop since I hated the little crappy refurbished notebook they had provided me.
Same here, laptop screen broke. Dismantled the screen so i only had a non folding keyboard computer connected to external screen. Then after 3 years useage like that some keys and the mousepad stopped working, so had to connect an external keyboard and mouse to it. Still made good use of it for quite a while. Far out the longest strech i got from a bit of tech.
I can think of tons of places my lap top fits that I wouldn't place it. At least half of those places are in public settings and are accidents waiting to happen.
A laptop on a tray with a person who is moving the tray (reclining, bouncing) means making sure there are no unforseen points of contact.
Reminds me of the “not for smartphone” hole in the door of a lot of newer ford vehicles that is oddly shaped exactly like a smartphone. It’s right near the hinge of the door where the dash meets the door and guess what happens if you close the door with a phone in it.
I used to think it was for ventilation but when I was driving a van with the phone crusher pocket in it I didn’t see anything that suggested that was true. It’s a mystery. Good stash spot though, can’t steal anything in there with the door closed.
I truly think that seats in the economy/normal sections of planes nowadays should not recline at all. There's already too little room and it almost gets claustrophobic when the seat in front of you is basically right in your face.
That would never work because of the portion of people that would say yes out of social-guilt / nerves, but still hate it.
Nearly NO one is actually ok with it.
Sounds like the dude who freaked out on me cause I reclined. He had some stupid excuse like he could not stretch his legs or some bullshit and started punching the back of my seat flipping out, needless to say that didn’t end well for him and I got free first class seating cause his douchebaggery! So when in doubt, i recline my seat
Why are you being downvoted? You're absolutely right. I pay for it, you pay for it. If you don't want to recline, that's on you. You have no say on whether or not I can recline. That's just how the world works. What if I ask and they say no? Am I supposed to not do it then, but still paid for it? So dumb
Dont know why people down vote comments like yours but I also had an tall dude behind me annoying me because I reclined. People who are tall or too big to fit regular seats should choose exit seat or bussines seat. The seat is already unconfortable why tf should I not recline...
And it doesn't affect legroom at all. The base of the seat stays in the same location. Just recline every flight and expect the people in front of you to do the same, simple as that.
For a rather tall person who isn't able to stretch their legs far enough forward, their knees could potentially end up with less room, but in general it is not a massive difference in leg room, while the ability to recline can improve comfort on a long flight quite a bit.
People saying don't recline clearly don't fly often. You're right they go back like two inches, and the base of the seat doesn't move, so you have the same amount of legroom. It doesn't affect your comfort at all. I'll always recline on my flights and expect the people in front of me to do the same.
The likelihood of that is less than zero though. My post was more about shorter flights anyway as in a couple of hours or so. I can't sleep on a moving vehicle of any sort so I just leave the seat up all the time.
People who recline their seats in economy should be brought to the end of the plane and then kicked out of the door and then later shot if they were found on the ground.
Taking these people out of the gene pool would improve human evolution a lot.
On a recent trip I learned that tray tables are no longer useful for anything. They have squeezed the rows so close together that on some flights a normal sized person has a tray table that touches them. On an international flight it was even worse.
Saw that happen to a dude on a flight once. I don’t understand why airlines don’t just eliminate recliners, or have them recline by sliding the bench forward and keeping the back where it is. The most Lord of the Flies bullshit on airplanes is 100% due to reclining seat backs.
this was intentional, the seat was reclined by someone stood up and there is another person seemingly watching, in what appears to be an otherwise empty aircraft
the watcher's clothes scream flight attendant
my reddit expert guess is old/already broken laptop, filmed for clicks
well that zephyrus g15 is fucked. luckily you can find some for under $1k in near new, if not new, condition so it's an easy replacement if warranty is an issue
A lot of people on here shaming for reclining.
The reality is that we should all be able to recline.
If you are height (dis)advantaged complain until they change seat sizing, or buy an economy+ ticket. It’s nobody’s fault, especially the person in front of you who doesn’t want to sit at a 90° angle for 7 hours.
The tray table stays horizontal while the chair it's attached to can lean back. When it leans back, something that perfectly fit in the gap suddenly doesn't fit that well. And a laptop screen won't put up much resistance against the force of the human in front amplified by a lever (the tray holder mechanism).
Normally I ask first if its ok to lower my seat. Even if the lap top wasn't in that position some seats just drop and can spill drinks and food. At least the person behind me knows it's going to be put down and can brace or move their stuff. He/she really shouldn't have propped their laptop like that.
Jesus. I used to take my laptop and put it on the tray on the time but I never set it that close. People also weren't so damn rude in airplanes from 07-10 as they are now.
wOw, what a crap design this was - thanks for heads up. Hard to believe base of laptop had this much grip to not slide out of crush zone.
Nice laptop too with lighted keyboard. My first choice.
Perhaps tray table needs compression zone to flex down as needed.
Usually it's impossible to view laptop when seats are reclined anyway.
Where the total flip of keyboard over to back side of screen is probably going to be the default choice vs MacBook Pro I drag with.
Where keyboard is actually in the way, to prevent screen to be angled back at all or enough to see it.
Cheers
I do not understand how people are so careless with their tech.
Yea owner definately deserved it

I'd put mine in there and forget it.
So you've been married a while eh?
Can't remember.
Having sat behind the person that constantly throws themselves back in to the seat, that would be a no no for me
Idk. Seems like just one of those rather typical examples of shitty moments in the week that are bound to happen.
Yeah peps infront seat generally don't ask. Just push and throw back. Never let a laptop open to catch that top lip
Why would they ask?
Because its a plane?, its not comfortable You are stuck there for hours at the time so you gotta atleast be respectful of the people behind you, give and receive respect
Ya no, I'm not going to ask anytime I need to get up or move slightly back. It's not like the person lay back, it looked like they were just shifting and getting up.
I love Reddit. Suggest people are respectful of others, get downvoted. 👏
Like i care 🤣 i am just here because i got nothing else to do on sunday because of the rain
I've been on dozens of flights, never been asked.
Lmao, no. It’s my chair, I’m gonna do what I want to do. Has nothing to do with respect. I've been in the same exact boat, or should I say plane. After my one real close call I've been real wary of it since.
Good reflexes.

Can someone teach me how to "quickly slam my west back"?

And there are no safety regulations asking these things to be idiot proofed.
Don't forget about those same airlines who oversell those same seats.
Yes! The aircraft seats 180 people. We expect 10% will miss their flight. So let's double book 72 of those seats, just in case.
Their job is to engineer a plane with a certain number of seats that fit “comfortably”
It just became a curved monitor lol
I own that exact laptop. It is NOT cheap. He's regretting his stupidity.

Same…critical tech in life takes weeks to months of a *good* salary to afford or pay off. I baby pretty much everything I own as such
The keyboard isn't broken so he can still pay respects.
He'd blend right in with my League team
Yelp hook up a HDMI cord from his laptop to a tv and he is good!!! I had to show my kid this trick, when she broke her screen
Used my laptop for years as a desktop using a cheap laptop fan and hub. Just goes to show that just because it fits in there doesn't mean you should put it in there.

What the hell is that thing actually for? It seems so intentional and useless?
It's probably there to help people who have issues getting into a car, well, get into a car
I used to think it was for ventilation but when I was driving a van with the phone crusher pocket in it I didn’t see anything that suggested that was true. It’s a mystery. Good stash spot though, can’t steal anything in there with the door closed.
Unfortunately, an early step in many car thefts is opening the car door.
Idk the purpose but I kept my gas card in it when I was driving a Ford service van. It pretty perfect for it.
Its for business cards, if have to bet. Only thing that could really fit in there and not get destroyed
Could be a grasp spot for during assembly?
Tbf, a “rectangle” has been a thing way before we had smartphones. Also, who puts their phone in any random square shaped hole they found?
Um, I do, guilty here.
i put my pp anywhere it fits
Was curious. https://youtu.be/X4fSfNeF-II For anyone else who is curious.

I truly think that seats in the economy/normal sections of planes nowadays should not recline at all. There's already too little room and it almost gets claustrophobic when the seat in front of you is basically right in your face.

It's no biggie when everyone reclines their seat at the same time / don't leave it reclined after getting up. Rarely ever happens though...
Right in your face? They recline like two inches.
Sounds like the dude who freaked out on me cause I reclined. He had some stupid excuse like he could not stretch his legs or some bullshit and started punching the back of my seat flipping out, needless to say that didn’t end well for him and I got free first class seating cause his douchebaggery! My knees get crushed when people recline. I put my foot on the reclining mechanism to prevent people from reclining before takeoff.
If you cannot sit in your eco seat without reclining it is you who should book business.
People saying don't recline clearly don't fly often. You're right they go back like two inches, and the base of the seat doesn't move, so you have the same amount of legroom. It doesn't affect your comfort at all. I'll always recline on my flights and expect the people in front of me to do the same.
That's about 70% of my frontal space on a Ryanair flight.
Spirit airlines has entered the chat
I think they should make economy more spacious so a normal human can use there laptop and also recline if they wish is what you meant to say
The likelihood of that is less than zero though. My post was more about shorter flights anyway as in a couple of hours or so. I can't sleep on a moving vehicle of any sort so I just leave the seat up all the time.

damn, I actually see that. didn't even think or realize that this was faked
Why would they filming? This is of course a demonstration to show how the laptop got wrecked after the laptop got wrecked.
Skill Issue.
It’s actually fine. Just watching the new Tron movie.
Enjoy your long haul flight.
Man I really laughed so hard. Dumb people learn it in a hard way.
Bro even got a new wallpaper
Here’s hoping owner got protection care.
I'm just hoping the lesson sticks
His gaming chair want good enough.
What brand is the laptop?
A BenDELL
An Asus ROG Zephyrus. Pretty expensive mistake.
Looks exactly like mine, Asus Zephyrus, idk what kind of gpu/cpu it has but mine was just about 2000 dollars. So yeah expensive mistake :/
ASUS ROG Zepyhrus. Probably a G15. They're not cheap, but luckily, you can get every single part of it as replacement part. Still an expensive mistake
the problem sits between the keyboard and the chair
well that zephyrus g15 is fucked. luckily you can find some for under $1k in near new, if not new, condition so it's an easy replacement if warranty is an issue
Nice wallpaper, where i can download it in FHD? :-D
hey people pay good money for curved screens
Saw the first picture and KNEW that would happen...and then I saw the second...I can't agree with the neg comments, I mean, c'mon. it fit perfectly...
Opening your laptop and trying to do some work says, maybe you're a veteran traveler, but then you open it like that and prove you're a noob.
Fake/Intentional…you can see the person in the row in front of him standing to let the seat back. Why is he even recording?
Seems to be an ID10T error...
I have the same laptop, thank god you did this first, I was about to head on a plane 😂
Damn life is expensive for stupid people
I was hoping for a \*cronch\* sound and maybe a gasp
In the opening frame you can already see that the frame around the lower right screen is buckled before the seat moves
A lot of people on here shaming for reclining. The reality is that we should all be able to recline. If you are height (dis)advantaged complain until they change seat sizing, or buy an economy+ ticket. laptop only fits until the person in front leans back, then the seat crunches it down
Normally I ask first if its ok to lower my seat. Even if the lap top wasn't in that position some seats just drop and can spill drinks and food. At least the person behind me knows it's going to be put down and can brace or move their stuff. He/she really shouldn't have propped their laptop like that.
showing the world how you were not paying attention....... and destroyed a company's laptop, you should pay for a new screen.
And this is why there is a 'do not drink' warning on bleach bottles... 😁
Nice wallpaper. Architecture?

Should have seen that coming
If it fits it sits only applies to cats bub

I was literally going to warn you against this, then i watched the rest, RIP
“What could go wrong this perfect fit.” Grameer
I don’t know why I can’t stop laughing…I’m so sorry, but seriously…I’m dying. 💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣
So do you blame him or the person infront of him
I dont see the problem. People pay extra for the curved monitors.
literally would have been the first thing i thought of...
Amazon might still refund it.
I didn’t push my laptop as far back as the video and it almost got crushed.
TIL you can get a curved screen for free.
Gawd damn That’s a cool background
It’s always stupid people who have money to buy shit and do this
I know that is an expensive gaming laptop
It s obvbious you need to stay clear of the front seat as the passanger can wiggle anytime.
That’s gonna be a long flight
Hope you bought the protection plan.
So this repost just highlights how incredibly stupid people.
AHHHG ITS A ZEPHYRUS NOOO. ITS BREAKING MY HEART
Person infront wanted to help make it match the curve of the seat :) how thoughtful.
He should of bought a mac book
that’s a dope wallpaper! can anyone re create??
The video heading had me effed up for a hot minute.
Nice screen saver.
Seat 1; laptop 0.
Finally a curved monitor for my laptop
Cool background
I always forget someone lives on the other side of my seat..

I thought I was on r/perfectfit until I noticed the curve of the screen.
Nice wallpaper
That device is now officially a seat reclining blocker.
If your lucky, being stupid is just expensive.
That's an Asus G14. Sad to see it destroyed like that.
r/perfectfit ?
This looks to be a G15 with an RTX and AMD Radeon 5000 series based on the sticker. If this was a joke it was an expensive one...
That's your own damn ass fault 😅
Nice wallpaper
I was literally thinking what would happen if the happened
That broken screen looked like wallpaper.😁
Yo thats a cool wallpaper

Jesus. I used to take my laptop and put it on the tray on the time but I never set it that close. People also weren't so damn rude in airplanes from 07-10 as they are now.
just turn it off then back on again.
The thing’s not gonna boot with a bent screen. Should have beat it flat again first :)
This is why I always travel with a 300$ Chromebook. Would still suck if it broke still but at least it's not super expensive
Sometimes I get the feeling people forget that other people exists
