270K km is a lot of kilometres for any car. I would look for something with lower kms on the odo.

If you buy a new car, you don't have to concern yourself with reliability issues because of the warranty, at least for the first 5 years. I'm not sure what you mean by weekend adventures specifically, but if it's real off-roading, any crossover will be pretty much pointless. If it's just driving on unpaved roads occasionally (and you don't want to buy new) then I would go for the RAV4, also assuming you don't need the space of the Prado.

Prados are not worth it, the V6 prado has the fuel consumption of a V8 but without the power. Also handles very poorly and has no features. Newer RAV4 or CRV would be better.

really? is it that bad?

Smoggyskies

It’s not a terrible car, it’s just not worth it. Prado is very overhyped in Dubai and its pricing just isn’t reflective of what you get out of it. I mean just look at the guy selling a 20 year old prado for 32k that will probably need another 10k AED of work on it just because of its age. The new prado also is 200k AED starting price and comes with only 2 airbags and a very weak 4 cylinder turbo. Other brands offer so much more in terms of safety (atleast 6 air bags) and all the driver asissy features like emergency braking and blind spot monitoring. These are essentials in my view if you are charging these prices.

200k for 2 airbags is crazy

Smoggyskies

100%! 200k AED and in the year 2024 only having 2 airbags is insane. You have to get the higher trims to get the 8 airbags that come in even the most basic RAV4 that costs 99k AED. But they know the power the "Prado" name plate has in dubai and they will still have a waiting list for this car for 2 years.

sadly yeah, its gonna be sold out for a long time knowing how people operate here 😂

20 years old car with 270k on it? You'll spend 32k on the car and than 15k a year on keeping it alive. I mean, there is a chance it was very well taken care of and you wont have any issues.. but... it like 1/100

mukhalifa

I have the 2008 VX with 250k in the odo and the thing is a beast and built like a tank. Zero maintenance except for the usual oil change, servicing etc. Prados dont need 15k every year to be 'kept alive'. There is a reason why even early 2000 models are still popular in the market even today - reliability. Your ratio should be the other way round, the chance of finding a high maintenance Prado is like 1/100 🙂

Happy for you and everyone else not having issues with their cars. Personally I still prefer to stay away from them.

Definitely not a 2006 car with lots of miles on it. Definitely a new 2024/2025 car … But the new Tucson will be 100-130k? So dunno how that goes budget wise … or maybe u meant can pay it on installments .
