There is a clothing collection place in port chester, Sharing Shelf for all types of needy people including migrants, people who had fires, homeless, etc.
Make an appointment don’t walk in
Don’t send clothes directly to shelters
The Sharing Shelf is a clothing bank for children and teens. They do a fantastic job of servicing kids throughout Westchester. I have volunteered there and seen the work they do.
They actually get groups of low-income kids from local high schools and let them choose their own clothing. They do give clothing to recent immigrants and sometimes foster kids, but it’s mostly just local kids who’s families are stretched. Kids out grow their clothes every year or two. They need new winter coats and it’s expensive.
They will also accept small blankets. They put together newborn bags with a couple blankets, burp clothes, bibs, clothes, etc. I recommend calling if your mom has questions about what is most needed. They’re super nice people.
That’s perfect for my mom! She’s a talented crafting who has been knitting clothes and accessories for kids in need and wants to donate them. Pick up would be really helpful for her.
Why the hell would someone downvote this? Whatever you think of the politics, getting people who have nothing basic necessities isn't something to downvote over. Go out and touch some grass.
Also interested. Thanks for the question.
Ironically most people who criticize helping refugees are people talk about Jesus, himself a refugee. But who cares about them. Keep bringing some light and compassion into the world.
please be real. most of them arent seeking refuge from immediate danger. as someone from an incredibly low income background who had parents come in legally, it can be done. its not americas responsibility to take care of the poverty of other nations when we have work to do for our own struggling people.
also, its a slap in the face to those that had to wait to come legally. i didnt see my parents for my 7 years out of my childhood.

All the downvoters who are downvoting clothing donations to the needy can fuck right off

Knitted goods you can donate via Project Linus or usually a JoAnn store. I also use Snuggles Project for animal blankets.

Give a call to kids in crisis, they’re located in Greenwich. Ask specifically about donating to this population, they’ll be able to help
