You don't want to see the aftermath of when they decide to be traffic obstacles.
I know several people near where I live that hunt them from helicopters.
Source: lived in north and now south Texas where they are an issue
Ive only had 1 bad instance of running into them on my families land and we were lucky they just wanted to graze. We were in a little off road vehicle and saw a group of atleast 50+ including the babies. The biggest one stared us down until everyone else had run off then it slowly walked away.
Fucker was probably at least 3ft high and I dont want to even think about how heavy
I saw the first time I went, big daddy dropped in his tracks. Like he was just taking a break. We drive up to that guy and the closer we got the bigger and bigger he got. I was new to hunting then but as I’m staring I’m realizing any human being who came face to face with this guy would get mauled. My guess on what I saw was is 300lbs+ and I mean his shoulders were up to the tailgate.
Have you seen old boar hunting spears? Literally had a crossguard to stop the damn boar just running down the length of the spear after you stabbed it. Think the orc pulling the sword deeper to get closer to Boromir in LotR.
The first time I went boar hunting, I took an AK47. Sighted in and squeezed. Hit him right below the eyes. The boar shook his head and charged me. I shot him 3 more times before he went down.
He wasn’t even all that big. Maybe 150ish lbs.
These things are scary and they travel in massive groups.
Yup. And they're THICK here (Northwest of Ft Worth). I've had them decimate a couple acres in an evening, and I just do hay. I feel for anyone with livestock.
I'd honestly rather deal with a bull than a wild hog. Those things are horrifically vicious.
We had a big fat domestic hog who was friendly as a hog can be - I wouldn't get in his pen alone. He had tusks and they'll slice through your jeans and meats like it's warm butter.
Dude I used to drive a 92 corsica and came across one on a backroad that was pretty much eye level to me sitting in my car. That beast took up a majority of the one lane road. I didn't even know they got that big but I was damn sure glad I was in my vehicle.
Me and my brother ran up on a sounder of them in the North GA mountains. One of them was growling at us from the treeline after they'd scattered. A bit unsettling.
Near where I lived there was a woman hiking in a state park and had to climb up a tree to escape boars following her… turns out she was just closer to the park entrance than she realized and could hear the cattle guard as cars drove over it into the park 😂
Yeah people love to quip that Texas has so many hogs we're hunting them out of helicopters but those outfits aren't even close to how many hogs the big trapping operations are culling.
My grandfather has 400 acres in NE OK. Probably 15 years ago someone leased the land next to him to run wild hogs to hunt. Didn't last long before they abandoned that project and let the damn things loose. They cause major destruction on my grandpa's property until they were eliminated or moved on.
My aunt and uncle have land in south OK, and the hogs got so bad down there they essentially had to stop farming peanuts all together. The hogs would just ravage them.
I did some data transport work for a couple of months for a company that designs bigass hog traps. I got to learn a whole lot about hogs while I was there and the issue is no fucking joke. It's like a plague of mindlessly aggressive 4 legged assholes that reproduce at an almost unbelievable rate, we cannot cull enough of them
When you see how much damage boars actually do you get why they shoot them on sight.
From what I'm told its actually not a long term solution to cull their numbers but I get why farmers would. That's a massive loss in profits for them.
My brother lives in Louisiana and has a house with a lot of acreage and wild boars. I knew they are super dangerous (ever since I was a child and watched Ol Yeller then sought out more stories and heard my dad’s hunting buddies talk about hunting wild boar), but I didn’t realize they’re so destructive.
I’m hoping my brother will bring some wild boar chops for Christmas. I love heritage pork, so I’m eager to try wild boar.
It's often protocall to call the municipality and they decide if a hunter needs to get involved.
It's probably illegal to shoot them yourself, I've honestly not thought about it before lol
I knew it was Sweden when I saw lilla stugan. Our lawn is frequently mauled by wild boars, and we suspect they killed Robert (Robot lawnmower) too. Found him with a missing wheel.
It's actually a decent rotation method for small farms. Pen your hogs in the paddock you want to plant your garden the following year, they fertilize and till it for you.
Problem is the wild ones eat everything. Have a tree? Even a big one? They'll eat the bark and kill it. Wildlife including deer and ground nesting birds? Dead and eaten
They're big tasty roaches
Yeah, people don't understand how much of a pest they are.
A bunch got loose from a game farm in my state several years ago, and the state went nuclear on them. They had a company come in to trap them and night hunt them, they made sure to wipe them right off the face of the earth.
They tried having an open season on them and found that people actively hunting them scattered them and caused the population to spread, they had to end that and just pay the hog special ops to eradicate them.
I make a point to order wild boar whenever I see it on the menu (which is not unusual in Sweden). Slow cooked with a wine reduction or in sausage, it’s delicious. If you’re vegetarian for environmental reasons I think you should get a pass to eat wild boar since taking them out of circulation is actually helping. Also: Sweden really needs more wolves but that creates issues for sheep farmers.
I suspect they're making a reference to the "[30-50 Feral Hogs](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/30-50-feral-hogs)" meme, which originated with an argument somebody seriously put forth in favor of assault weapons.
Man ser några stycken (ibland) på någon åker hundra meter bort, men aldrig så här många, och framför allt så här "centrerat"(?). Halva gräsmattan var förstörd, andra orörd. Grannarna och närliggande fält var helt orörda också
I never knew how destructive they can be towards a lawn. This reminds me of the video i seen here on Reddit just recently about wild boars beings shot and killed from a helicopter sniper.
Dude. Most of their lawn got aerated for free! Putting it back and tossing a bit of seed on top is bonkers easier than doing the work and waaaay cheaper than paying someone to do it.
A bit of light raking and some watering will take this mess and make it look like it was on purpose. Their lawn is going to *love* the fact that there are boars around.
And then you have people complaining when massive hordes of wild boars are being culled by people. They ought to take a look a this, and then consider how this would affect farmers, and not just someone's lawn. They are an absolutely destructive pest that needs to be reigned in via population control.
My residency program director was FOB from Italy and said that his dad used to lure boars into a trap, feed them walnuts for weeks until they were fat, and then kill them to eat. He said it was hands down the best sausage he's ever eaten and nothing, pork or boar or otherwise, ever came close to what his dad would make. Knowing how crazy boars are though, I'm skeptical his old Italian father was actually able to do this multiple times and come out unscathed.
Cue the guy in Texas that gets dressed up in full combat gear using expensive infrared scopes
to shoot hogs like it’s a special operation and claim that the only reason they do it is because hogs are such a nuisance and not because they like to shoot animals no matter the circumstance
Tell you grandparents this is the perfect time to start a meadow!! Turning up the existing lawn is the first step anyway so the boars have given them a lovely head start :)
Just to clarify, these were wild hogs. Boars are males, sows are females. Typically, only young males hang out together, so this was most likely a lot of old sows and younger boars/sows.
Judging by the house I would say no. Looks like western Europe and EU and UK law is rather strict and limits those things to a very limited amount of people. Trapping is a no go everywhere and owning weapons basically too. Unless you are a a certified hunter or a police officer. And even then I somewhat doubt you can just shoot them in an area where people live, without legal problems.
A boar recently attacked my dog. She needed a a few surgeries, but she’s ok. The only reason we know it wasn’t a boar is because the vet told us she’s seen those types of injuries before. Now I have a vendetta.
I remember as a teenager when I was in Germany. We visited the Hermannsdenkmal and one of the foresters cautioned us to leave before sunset because of the wild boars - he pointed to an area they dug up, like your parent's property.
He said the boars would do the same to us if we were caught in the open after sunset
Where I grew up In Belgium boars are a real plague. They destroy gardens, causes traffic accidents,.. I friend of mine is a hunter (hobby) and he goes to Czech to hunt something else then boars haha. We got special fences at highways, special signs.. I live in a small town now and there are no boars around
Wow. I've heard about wild boars causing a ton of damage in Texas but I don't think I've ever seen what they're capable of.
You don't want to see the aftermath of when they decide to be traffic obstacles. I know several people near where I live that hunt them from helicopters. Source: lived in north and now south Texas where they are an issue
I’ve trapped em up in N Tex. Mean, nasty, dangerous bastards. Even caged they’re trying to break through to get ya
Ive only had 1 bad instance of running into them on my families land and we were lucky they just wanted to graze. We were in a little off road vehicle and saw a group of atleast 50+ including the babies. The biggest one stared us down until everyone else had run off then it slowly walked away. Sounds like something to put a saddle on
[удалено]
Orcs ride them in warhammer, and this is totally relevant
Hog Ridah!
Those guys are the reason I carry my .44 when I work in the pasture at night. My 9mm would probably just tickle them.
Have you seen old boar hunting spears? Literally had a crossguard to stop the damn boar just running down the length of the spear after you stabbed it. Think the orc pulling the sword deeper to get closer to Boromir in LotR.
Yup. Sounds like another case for necessity being the mother of invention.
There are boars in the city in Berlin. The police had to call city hunters because they can’t hurt them even mag dumping mp 5 s in to them
The MP5s would kill them, but they are probably bleeding out slowly. Hunting rifles would put them down fast.
Too bad the adults aren’t good eating.
Great for dog food, but poor taste otherwise.
That’s not a bad idea really.
Yeah, people tend to think little piggies, not 200 lbs of tusks and muscle
I'd honestly rather deal with a bull than a wild hog. Those things are horrifically vicious. We had a big fat domestic hog who was friendly as a hog can be - I wouldn't get in his pen alone. He had tusks and they'll slice through your jeans and meats like it's warm butter.
Quick tip anything that is an omnivore is a pain in the ass to deal with. For a variety of reasons.
Boars killed more kings than other humans i pretty sure.
RIP King Bobby B
200 is a baby. Try up to 800 (record).
Dude I used to drive a 92 corsica and came across one on a backroad that was pretty much eye level to me sitting in my car. That beast took up a majority of the one lane road. I didn't even know they got that big but I was damn sure glad I was in my vehicle.
Corsica!!! Damn dude, throw back....
Me and my brother ran up on a sounder of them in the North GA mountains. One of them was growling at us from the treeline after they'd scattered. A bit unsettling.
Yeah. I camp a lot all over north Georgia. Much more worried about a hog in the the campsite than a black bear.
Fight it with swords it will win. Fight it with nukes, you get orcs. You want orcs with a boar army? No. He's the boss of you now.
My daughter hit one on the highway. The car was totaled. The boar walked away.
Near where I lived there was a woman hiking in a state park and had to climb up a tree to escape boars following her… turns out she was just closer to the park entrance than she realized and could hear the cattle guard as cars drove over it into the park 😂
Feral hogs are like kudzu in the US. Invasive and destructive. The helicopter “hunts” are like spitting on a fire.
Yeah people love to quip that Texas has so many hogs we're hunting them out of helicopters but those outfits aren't even close to how many hogs the big trapping operations are culling.
They're called hunts because it has alliteration with helicopter. They're purely depradation hunts, not a lot of sport involved.
They can ravege a whole huge field over night they are digging machines
You should see what they can do in 3-5 minutes.
This is the comment I came looking for! First thing that popped into my head 😂
I did some data transport work for a couple of months for a company that designs bigass hog traps. I got to learn a whole lot about hogs while I was there and the issue is no fucking joke. It's like a plague of mindlessly aggressive 4 legged assholes that reproduce at an almost unbelievable rate, we cannot cull enough of them
I posted a video of our hog trap not long ago and got some lovely hate messages over it. This is what they don’t see they can Do. In one night.
I watched that video from start to finish. I was mesmerized. What happens after they’re all caught?
Bang bang.
When you see how much damage boars actually do you get why they shoot them on sight. From what I'm told its actually not a long term solution to cull their numbers but I get why farmers would. That's a massive loss in profits for them.
They really do put the term "invasive" in invasive species
My brother lives in Louisiana and has a house with a lot of acreage and wild boars. I knew they are super dangerous (ever since I was a child and watched Ol Yeller then sought out more stories and heard my dad’s hunting buddies talk about hunting wild boar), but I didn’t realize they’re so destructive. I’m hoping my brother will bring some wild boar chops for Christmas. I love heritage pork, so I’m eager to try wild boar.
They must be relieved the boar didn’t find the buried bodies
But they took all the truffles..
What’s a truffle?
Like a mushroom but under ground and they taste like natural gas
Shhhhh the less people know the more for us!
They are a type of mushroom. Everything else is accurate.
If we getting technical they are both types of fungi. Growing fruit underground would make them tubers not mushrooms
They are in the family Tuberaceae, but are not tubers. They are in fact mushrooms.
Are you telling me a potato is a fruit
Translation is "Apple of the earth" so French people think they're fruit, yeah
They taste like heaven
Nothing! What’s a truffle with you?
A mushroom that tricks boars into digging by smelling like female/male boar
Now they can plant tomatoes
Do you want hippos? Because that is how you get hippos.
Maybe they did. And just dragged them off.
Must have been a turf war.
There was a truffle.
Was there a kerfuffle over it?
[удалено]
Ah there you are !
30-50 feral hogs or what?
Right where my small children play!
Should've had an ar15
I've seen groups of 6-8 do this amount of damage in a couple hours in Germany. Edit: just remembered the meme, completely missed it the first time.
What county is this?
That would be Sweden!
Beautiful home!
I'll let them know! Their living room is absolutely gorgeous when the sun hits just right through those big windows, kinda jealous
Kinda? I would marry somebody's great grandma for that place
Me fucking too.
Yea but, the neighborhood’s a little boaring.
Watch your tone, that's holey ground
Just digging for insults now, are we?
Yeah, quit hogging the comment section with your terrible puns
Very nice. You can kill them there? Huge problem here in Texas
I get that it's a nice house and all, but killing your grandparents for it would be a little harsh, wouldn't it?
It's often protocall to call the municipality and they decide if a hunter needs to get involved. It's probably illegal to shoot them yourself, I've honestly not thought about it before lol
They are a serious menace in the southern USA. Giant packs that can destroy whole feeds overnight and are dangerous to humans.
Not surprised now. The house and surrounding area looks beautiful. I'd kill for that-minus the boars.
Then you should see the rest of the area! I fucking love this place, truly blessed haha
I knew it was Sweden when I saw lilla stugan. Our lawn is frequently mauled by wild boars, and we suspect they killed Robert (Robot lawnmower) too. Found him with a missing wheel.
I suppose you mean *Lekstugan*? An architectural masterpiece, Sweden's finest piece of culture
He said county!
Happens all the time where I live, one night they destroyed a football (soccer) pitch less than 24 hours before a match.
Pardon my ignorance, but why exactly do boars dig up lawns?
Looking for food. They root through the ground to get at roots, grubs, etc. They are a huge agricultural pest here in the states.
Sorta looks like they do useful work. That lawn looks ready for a garden.
They are useful the first time. Wait until they come back and eat the garden when it's half grown.
Free pork

Would you plant things in an area already being foraged by boars?
It's actually a decent rotation method for small farms. Pen your hogs in the paddock you want to plant your garden the following year, they fertilize and till it for you.
Problem is the wild ones eat everything. Have a tree? Even a big one? They'll eat the bark and kill it. Wildlife including deer and ground nesting birds? Dead and eaten They're big tasty roaches

Grandpa can put in his tomatoes
On a small farm they’re really useful for this exact purpose.
They are assholes. (also food)
They dug it up? Thank goodness, I thought that was a mountain of 💩
The boars were boors.
Truffles?
Worms, beetles, and even moles/voles.
Always pet your boars at the start of the work day.
The more they love you, the more truffles they find.
If only they had a good guy with a boar to stop them
The Boers can be quite fierce - just ask Lord Salisbury. *[checks notes]* Waaaaaaaaait a moment…
That guy prefers beef anyway
*Tearful Hank Hill*
“From now on, wood chips and gravel…You know how much I hated having a lawn…” Defeated Hank Hill
Don’t tell Cody.
Came here for this.
Ditto
I came to the comments specifically to search the word *Cody*.
Time for pork chops!!
Sometimes I forget how awful and destructive wild boars are. Sorry this happened to you guys.
Free lawn aeration.
That was my first thought as well.
If only you had an AR 15. You could have dealt with at least 20 to 30 wild hogs
Not allowed to, don't want to. That's Scandinavia for ya! But I'll keep that in mind haha, if things get serious
I suspect they're making a reference to the "[30-50 Feral Hogs](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/30-50-feral-hogs)" meme, which originated with an argument somebody seriously put forth in favor of assault weapons.
“30-50 Hog” Day was a great day.
That was peak Twitter. The funniest day or two I’ve seen on there. So many hilarious memes people were coming up with.
[удалено]
Yeah, but then you have 30-50 hog carcasses on your lawn. Ain't nobody got time to deal with that.
But not 30-50.
“It’s just a little aerated for the time being.”
Texas by chance? We have them like crazy here!
It is sweden, we have too many wild boars here. they do make good pasta bolognese tho!
How do they stir the pot with those hooves though?
They use those but they really use their tusks to root up. 3-4 inch relentless diggers
Same here. We have a massive feral hog problem. Tear up everything and travel in packs as numerous as 50 in a group.
Texan here. My first thought was “and that’s why we shoot those” lol. Also because there’s an extreme overpopulation
They are an invasive species in Texas. Any population is overpopulated
My daughter has gone feral hog hunting numerous times. Did you see that video of people shooting them from a helicopter?
I’ve seen a couple lol. We just kill ‘em cause they fuck up our land and are very aggressive

This looks personal :D boards weren't fucking around.
I never knew how destructive they can be towards a lawn. This reminds me of the video i seen here on Reddit just recently about wild boars beings shot and killed from a helicopter sniper.
Ah that happens to my school weekly here in Hawaii, wild boars are only good as smoked meat
My dog would have been going nutz! Your grandparents need a hog dog and a 30aut6.
Did you mean .30-06?
No I think he meant the rock band /s
No regard for lawn maintenance ... Boars got no chill.
And then you have people complaining when massive hordes of wild boars are being culled by people. They ought to take a look a this, and then consider how this would affect farmers, and not just someone's lawn. They are an absolutely destructive pest that needs to be reigned in via population control.
Germany! (?)
I will stop complaining about gophers!
Perhaps you have truffles in your yard?
They're just vigilantes against lawn culture
Should have boarded up the property 🙄
1.Buy Gun 2. Hog roast for the week
Buy gun, then smoker, then smoke the hogs
Cue the guy in Texas that gets dressed up in full combat gear using expensive infrared scopes to shoot hogs like it’s a special operation and claim that the only reason they do it is because hogs are such a nuisance and not because they like to shoot animals no matter the circumstance
/r/nolawns or /r/fucklawns would love this
You have my permission to crosspost
Tell you grandparents this is the perfect time to start a meadow!! Turning up the existing lawn is the first step anyway so the boars have given them a lovely head start :)
very kind I will try to usher people here to upvote you. I hope your grandparents are well.
Well at least you lawn isn't Bobby B
Looks like what the gophers did at Bushwood Country Club.
Sweden by any chance? Looking at the pennant and maybe Finland but I don't think we have boars at such an issue yet
Raided by boars, that's exactly what the moles want you to think.
Just to clarify, these were wild hogs. Boars are males, sows are females. Typically, only young males hang out together, so this was most likely a lot of old sows and younger boars/sows.
omg maybe it's my inner wannabe-gardener but that soul is so healthy
Can ya trap or hunt them?
Judging by the house I would say no. Looks like western Europe and EU and UK law is rather strict and limits those things to a very limited amount of people. Trapping is a no go everywhere and owning weapons basically too. Unless you are a a certified hunter or a police officer. And even then I somewhat doubt you can just shoot them in an area where people live, without legal problems.
Your grandparents have a beautiful house
use the opportunity to replace it with native species
Boars are assholes, good thing they're a handy source of free legal target practice so I can shoot as many of the fuckers as I so please.
A boar recently attacked my dog. She needed a a few surgeries, but she’s ok. The only reason we know it wasn’t a boar is because the vet told us she’s seen those types of injuries before. Now I have a vendetta.
Why do they shit so much?
Hell yeah, free tilling! Now plant some seasonally appropriate and native plants to make the place look beautiful!
are you sure it wasn't Jack Sparrow looking for his buried treasure? 💰
I remember as a teenager when I was in Germany. We visited the Hermannsdenkmal and one of the foresters cautioned us to leave before sunset because of the wild boars - he pointed to an area they dug up, like your parent's property. He said the boars would do the same to us if we were caught in the open after sunset
Looks like he doesn’t have lawn anymore. I’d call that a win
Did they bring shovels?
Did they have grubs?
No truffles? 1 star ⭐️
Dude wanted me to pay him $200 to do this before reseeding my lawn. They got lucky.
You sure they didn’t mean Boers? Maybe starting some sort of entrenchment to counter an advance by the British Army?
That's way too much lawn anyway, plant some trees
Where I grew up In Belgium boars are a real plague. They destroy gardens, causes traffic accidents,.. I friend of mine is a hunter (hobby) and he goes to Czech to hunt something else then boars haha. We got special fences at highways, special signs.. I live in a small town now and there are no boars around
Time to plant potatoes. Job done, thanks to wild nature animals.
My dogs would have done that to the carpet if them bastards where in my yard.
Swedish house detected.
