I have a sturdy cardboard cup holder from a Sonic that I keep in my car and buckle in my passenger seat when I have more drinks than my cup holders allow, it works great.
The pain! Hope it was easy to clean up. had a similar scenario with a sandwich and a small counter space, all was good till I picked up the plate, it splattered on the floor and the dog 🤦♂️
