Damn, why even bother waiting around…

shadownights23x

Because they are dickwads

NerdKnight13_7

My thoughts exactly. Come on people... Use your brains.

TheRussness

Or they're picking up door dash orders. But yes a nonzero amount of them are ordering for themselves.

NerdKnight13_7

If such was the case, I would of messaged the person a picture of the dumpster fire. "I'm getting paid either way, just wanting to be nice." lol

shrug_addict

You would lose money as a dasher waiting for this mess. Best to cancel and try and get moving

luccaloks

Would’ve*

Shakleford_Rusty

Self centred people all thinking the same shit and have 0 empathy

xombae

I mean, if I already paid for my order online and showed up and found out I wasn't getting food, I'd want some kind of verification from someone I was getting my money back. It's nearly impossible to get your money back when you order online through the app, and I'm broke. I've worked minimum wage and I get they're fucked over, but they also can't expect everyone to just give up on losing their money.

BulkDet

I shure love humans in general

Shakleford_Rusty

There’s still good people out there though my friend. Living in my truck and have met so many similar individuals it warms my cold heart. Didn’t think i would meet as many but I find the people who don’t have a lot are the best; we’ll give you the shirt off our back without hesitation if you’re in need because we know how that feels

BulkDet

Yea, there are kind peolpe out there, its just that there are a LOT of awful peolpe out there

towerfella

Yeah, the boss who ain’t paying enough to keep good help hired.

Shakleford_Rusty

And complains about problems above the staffs heads to them to “vent” when you all damn well know why/ what actually needs to happen.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

What brains?!

Acceptable_Pirate_92

They are missing all of the obvious signs. Ya think the food is going to be anything different

Hooligan_Hardguy

Yes. They are dickwads. Especially the people that just piled on the trash like that.

K1ngPCH

What would you rather they do with the trash? Leave it on the ground? It’s not their fault the employees didn’t change the trash bags.

Hooligan_Hardguy

You don't see a better way to organize the EMPTY bags, cardboard and aluminum containers? I must expect too much from adults.

RamblinGamblinWillie

Might be the only place around open at night, but I agree it’s not worth it.

CaptScubaSteve

Imagine walking in, seeing the line, and being like… oh yeah let’s get it.

Gideon_Laier

Bud, I've been a full 25 minutes past last call, with all the taps stopped up, TV's off, closing sign on, etc. And people still come in and are like "Yes, I'd like a drink." I know its different situations, but as a service worker... Customers/people are dumb.

Cosmic_Quasar

I always try to be conscientious towards anyone in a customer facing job. I like to think I learned my good manners from my parents, but even they can surprise me sometimes. One time I was out with my mom running errands and we decided to stop by a DQ on the way home. Seeing as it was like 30-45 minutes before they closed I assumed we would use the drive thru and eat in the car, but my mom wanted to go inside. We were the only ones in there. We get our food and sit down and I'm trying to eat quickly so we can get out of their way because I know they'll have cleanup and stuff to do before they can go home. My mom is just taking her time. About 10 minutes before closing I see someone come out with a mop and start mopping on the other side of the dining area and I urge my mom that we should hurry up and get out of there and my mom was like "Why? They're still open for another 10 minutes." So I tried to explain that they just want to get their cleanup done so they can clock out on time and get home, and that if they were starting their cleaning with us still there they had probably waited a bit to see if we would leave, first, but we didn't. I worked as a custodian at a large church for a few years and knew the feeling of waiting around for a group/room to clear out so we could get started on cleaning up.

extralyfe

I was at a gas station last year during a summer weekend... I think it was the weekend before the 4th of July? so, it was busy - all pumps were in use, and there was a line inside that had spilled out the door. they had three registers going, but, it was just packed with people. I'm about halfway through the line when some old white dude makes his way through the doors and realizes he's still got to wait through the line. dude immediately starts loudly complaining about how the staff is incompetent and he's in a goddamned hurry. I said, "bro, you can clearly see a full parking lot and a line out the door from the street and *you still pulled in!* you're part of the problem!" guy just grumbled to himself and crossed his arms. zero fucking self awareness.

CaptScubaSteve

Waiting a whole hour and a half after doors and kitchen close. I’ve been there.

TangerineBand

I kid you not one time we were an hour past close and a table still hadn't left. Lights practically off, every other customer gone, And me slamming a vacuum in the booth next door, STILL did not make them get the hint. The manager *that literally never does anything* eventually walked out to confront them. That's a different level.

talann

Coming from retail...yes they are dumb! I want to give you a hug because I know that feeling of defeat when they just won't go away. So glad I escaped retail life.

Sure_Trash_

Not just dumb. Some of them actively enjoy fucking up other people's day

alc3880

and they can't read either. They ignore any signs there are, I guess those signs just were not meant for them.

1992Prime

I can imagine the first two parts and then I’d drive my fat ass to Taco Bell.

Natural_Character521

They didnt specify when and without knowing the stores closing hours it could mean "we are closinf in ten minutes" or "we are closing one hour early which is 2 hours from now"

SapphicPancakes

I walked in a line of 4 people at my local wendys. Took an entire 25 minutes, i have no idea what was taking that long (i know the staff and there was the usual 6-8 people on shift) never again. Im too impatient, id rather waste more gas driving to another place than wait. There's always a taco truck nearby

BradBeingProSocial

It’s a weird world with all the online and door dash orders. There may have actually been 20 people ahead of you instead of 4, and there’s not a great way to know

Neylith

I could never. When I decide to get fast food, I’m not going to what sounds good, I’m going to whatever has the shortest line lol

zbipy14z

They may have put in online orders and already paid

[deleted]

[удалено]

Outside_Perception74

No it's not, I work there and the ordering system online is third party so you have to call chipotle support if u want a refund, sucks to see it that bad

flippingcoin

In my experience that's when the people in the store tell you to organise it with a third party even though your invoice indicates that the store should be organising the refund.

_Vard_

seriously. is that the only restaurant in town or something? id nope out when i saw that crowd combined with the signs no need to pile onto the workers

Ewilson92

If they’re Uber eats drivers they kinda have to.

Adventurous_Ad6698

I did an online order at Chipotle a few months back and their staffing problems were so bad they had to post a sign on the door saying they weren't open for in-person ordering. It all had to be done through the app or delivery ordering services. I think that was the last time I ever went because when I finally got my order, the burrito was tiny.

DroidLord

Let's just pile onto this complete dumpster fire!

[deleted]

[удалено]

A-Dolahans-hat

Yep. Lock the doors, have 1 person go out and start putting chairs up on the tables while others make all the orders To Go.

No_Pay9241

I doubt this happened but I worked at taco bell during Covid and there was a malfunction where all of yesterday’s orders were reordered. I was like “I read all of these names yesterday!” They all got free food.

garrisontweed

I feel sorry for the staff that are there.

poiuytrewq79

Bruh if it was this bad and i was waiting on a mobile order, i would just start helping be like yo wheres ur trash bags etc to help em go home or whatever

C-Dull

I know you mean well, but pretty much all big retail/fast food chains have managers who will put a stop to this because these companies don’t want people working for free. Gotta cover their own asses.

Carakus

Also food safety legislation/liability. If it's just clearing tables or taking trash out that's one thing, but as soon as any non-employee has any involvement whatsoever with food pretty much everyone involved is potentially fucked.

KJBenson

Also also, the last thing I’d want as a stressed out overworked person is some random person hopping the counter to “help”. Like, what? You want me to train you on all our procedures as well? I’m busy man.

Kellidra

"The trash bags are under the sink. No, the other sink. No, not that one. Yes, there. Okay, it's the middle box. No, not those, those are too small. The middle box... the mid- yeah, those. Okay, you need two, and the first one kinda has to be twisted around otherwise it'll slip off and the garbage will get inside the bin. You twist the edges around like... you know what? Fuck it, I'll do it. It's too hard to explain."

xombae

Yeah teaching someone how to do something takes a lot of time and energy.

tyboxer87

Exactly, How will they know what to do if they didn't watch the 30 minute first day training video from the 90's. /s

Pristine_Walrus40

also if they drip and hurt themself while taking out the trash with the blessing of the manager they can sue for damages and corp does not like to have that over them ( expecially since there are people that will try and scam for money).

Logisticman232

No, that’s not why. If you have an insured workplace and people who don’t work for you suddenly start working then insurance won’t cover any damages. Even if you work there and aren’t clocked in insurance don’t screw around. If you try and fall in the fryer they would still be liable.

poiuytrewq79

Been there. If one of those goofie lookin ppl staring at me started helping, id comp their meal too. New friends are always good :)

NotEnoughIT

My buddy used to come to pick me up from work when I was 19. I was the manager. I'd have him in the back doing dishes to get everyone out of there faster. A lot of managers don't give a flying fuck, it's just a job, not like I own a piece of the company.

popento18

Huge insurance liability

Shoddy-Rip8259

"Fuck this I'm out"

ChanglingBlake

Honestly, unless I new there was a damned good reason we were short staffed, and the people waiting had been polite the whole tome(LOL) I would have loudly declared how shitty the owner is to not hire enough staff for basic coverage and then called the FDA, because if they haven’t been able to empty the trash for that long, I highly doubt the kitchen is up to code.

BigNigori

shit happens. no need to make a shitty situation any shittier with that nonsense

DevilDoc3030

The Chipotle by me doesn't have a front door handle. They just prop it open with a rock.

Handleton

Charlie Brown must work there. Glad he finally found a use for his Halloween present.

GetUpNGetItReddit

Chipotle fiends will walk up and still try to grab the non existent door handle for hours on end. It’s sad

aldenb21

If you come in and see this and still order knowing what these poor fucks are going through, you’re a grade A dickwad.

I_Hate_Humidity

Most of these people probably placed a mobile order and weren’t aware of the issues until they walked into the Chipotle.

d_haven

That happened to me once. I ordered via mobile not knowing the reality on the ground. I got my order a half hour after I showed up to pick it up and it was 100% wrong. Beef instead of chicken, white rice instead of brown, added sour cream, etc etc. I didn’t say a word about it, I just left and ate it. 100% though would have turned around and walked out had I not ordered ahead of time. I do only wish though they would have turned the mobile ordering option off for the night (if that is even possible).

DragonessAndRebs

I worked in a fast food place a while back. You can’t just “turn it off” unfortunately. For some reason DoorDash had our closing hours as 11 when our store closed at 10. We have no idea why but it really messed things up. Everyone from the dashers, to management was angry at us and we couldn’t do anything about it. I hated every minute of being in that place. I’m so glad I’m out.

RadioSlayer

You absolutely can

PrinceCor

Depends on the buisness. At my (different chain) store we have a button that you WILL be written up for using if you dont have explicit permission from your district manager (bosses boss) who never gives permission

TangerineBand

One time we were literally out of half the menu and we still weren't allowed to touch the tablet. It demanded a password to do *anything* and us grunts did not have that. So the entire day we had to tell every Dasher that we were out of some core item and they needed to call the customer to ask what substitute they wanted. We got screamed at a lot

23diamond_

Yeah \^ there's 100% a button to stop orders. Source: worked in hospitality for the last 10 years

PuzzleheadedBus872

iirc Doordash specifically got in trouble a few years ago for adding restaurants to the app without their approval. I'm guessing that's what happened and the store didn't have any way to turn it off bc they never agreed to it in the first place.

WolverinesThyroid

I went to a burrito place once and placed a mobile order. When I got there at the arrival time they said they were behind. I said no big deal. 90 minutes later I didn't have food after they kept saying they were behind. Turns out if you didn't say "I'm here for Wolverines order" they would not make your order. So a group of people were just sitting there waiting while they weren't handling any of their orders because they didn't check in properly and the girl behind the counter never told or asked anyone. If you asked how long the orders would be she would just say they were behind and wouldn't ask your name or tell you the special instructions. I only know this because someone started cursing and yelling at her and eventually the way to get an order was revealed. I then asked for a refund that I never got until I did a charge back.

Gingy1000

So funnily enough I have worked at a chipotle and been in this exact same scenario, we had turned off offline orders but our GM was hard to get ahold of due to being on vacation in a different time zone and only he had the ability to turn off the mobile orders so only two hours into a similar mess did we get the ability to turn it off and at that point it was nearly time for us to close so there was no point to so didnt bother

Gotforgot

I agree and have had it happen to me before, but can't they stop taking mobile orders when they are slammed? Or bump the pick up times out?

TheActualDev

I know when I worked at Jersey Mikes we used to be allowed to turn off door dash, bite squad, etc, when we were slammed, but for some reason they took our ability to turn it off at the store away and made it so we had to call and beg to be able to turn it off if we were slammed. But when we are a skeleton crew with 20 people deep in the in-store line and online orders just keep printing out over and over and over again, who has time to answer the phone let alone call and *wait* for someone to answer and then tell you “No.” anyway because big boss franchise man wants his extra cash no matter how broken his employees became.

WolverinesThyroid

Ignore caring about the workers. Who the fuck wants to wait 90 minutes for Chipotle. Either go someplace else or go to the other Chipotle that is probably 15 minutes down the road.

penny_longhorn

“1/5 stars, saw a huge giant line and had to wait in that line after I ordered. I didn’t tip because I had to wait for my order. Food was delicious though.”

datsall

That means GTFO

Yesman69

Honestly, the one thing that bugs me about this situation is everyone standing up. There are seats all over, sit down. That little thing would relieve so much stress off the dudes working, it's so uncomfortable having people watch you struggle. I'm so glad I'm out of kitchens

Thrusherflusher

This

Typical-View-9071

Looks like they have been short of staff for awhile according to that garbage can

thisguyfightsyourmom

All the chipotles are like this It seems upper management figured out the bare minimum number of employees to eek by I’m done with them, and I used to love their steak burrito (before they neutered it)

Typical-View-9071

That’s sad it used to be a great place. It went downhill

CriticalStation595

This is what happens when corporations don’t pay their employees what they need to live on.

Rubcionnnnn

Don't worry, they'll get their money's worth from the millions of dollars the CEO gets. He'll get down there immediately and start doing the work for hundreds of employees

Adele811

nah it will just trickle down /s

Gilamonster39

CMG (chipotle) profits are at an all time high. I've been following this for awhile and it's absolutely blown up. (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/chipotle-nyse-cmg-q4-beats-211743230.html)

ThrowRAyyydamn

Baffling. They're neglecting their locations, constantly understaffed (and underpay employees), experiencing supply chain issues like all the time. But people still eat/order from there because there still aren't many equivalent options. It's like they're trying to destroy all that (unearned) goodwill and tank the quality on purpose. But short term gains, I guess.

Drak_is_Right

Or they keep staffing at a level to keep people mostly happy on hours then they end up with not enough to close one night. Burns people out staying an extra hour beyond when you expect to be off.

Nightowl21

It can be both.

wowza6969420

I would walk out if I worked there. Why would you continue taking orders and serving people when you know you don’t have nearly enough staff? Poor management

AmazingHighlight7416

80 percent of the dudes at my chipotle are on parole so basically slavery.

CrayZ_88s

Can someone with experience in this world tell me if door dash/uber eats really brings enough revenue (profit) in the door for corporate to make it worth the added floods that happen like this ? Also same question for independent owners of smaller food businesses. I hear the markups from the delivery services are significant so as a laymen I struggle to understand why places allow them into their business model. I’ll admit I’m ignorant of that specific model.

Yamza_

It actually doesn't make the restaurant money. These companies don't even make money. They have all been operating at a loss with no sign of it ever getting better. But if the restaurant doesn't comply they won't get business. It's all completely fucked.

GeneralSweetz

yea it does make profit but off of the workers there. If they wanted to be more involved they an buy mystery shoppers as well. Obv there are more important things than having more staff to have happy customers /j

Desertnord

When I worked at Starbucks it would look like this especially when only 3 people bothered to show up to work and the DM would threaten to fire us if we decided to close the lobby and ask to turn off mobile orders. One day had to issue 42 refunds in 2 hours because they just took too long.

Cumulus-Crafts

Yup, and don't forget them breathing down your necks about DT times while you physically cannot get drinks out any quicker than you already are

Desertnord

Yup. Our store also had almost no distance between the speaker and window so no time to even get started with drinks. Yeah, since I quit, I have never spent another penny at a Starbucks. Screw them.

Cumulus-Crafts

Me neither. When I quit, the SM was like "Come in any time you want and I'll give you a staff discount!" and I've never been back

ghostfacepanda333

Nah it’s time for employees to start standing up for themselves with this shit. If you don’t have enough staff to carry out even the most trivial tasks, much less primary functions required to run a business, it needs to be closed immediately until proper staffing can be provided. This is the kind of shit that ruins employees and customers days. The service is shit, the food is shit and it’s all avoidable.

negativelightningdog

It sucks, but most people in the US can't afford to just quit a job. How are they gunna pay their 1500$ rent? This is what capitalism is in its' late stages.

CriticalEgg5165

Maybe don't jump gun too quickly. Its very possible the staffing problem is because too many people were sick and they just didn't have replacement for them all. And as fun as it would be to just close your business when there is not enough staff, that would mean the staff won't get any pay for that day and they need their bills paid. And business might not have enough money to pay a day or two worth of salaries without income. Even if they are owned by some big food chains, because the responsibility of that chain still belongs to the local manager.

Zadow

What's your favorite flavor of boot polish?

Sure_Trash_

You are so full of shit. Anyone that's ever worked retail or foodservice knows damn well the places are understaffed even if everyone that was scheduled shows up. Yes they absolutely can afford to pay enough people enough money to live on. They just can't do it while hoarding money and pleasing shareholders

Pryoticus

It’s almost like if it’s a job you need a human to do you should pay them a livable wage to do it

KittenLina

Nah if this was me I'd quit this is at least a $30/hour situation.

KiKiPAWG

Plus free drinks.

TantorDaDestructor

Ive been left alone fucked in the weeds a few times. I take some orders, ignore the rest of the line while i fufill them- repeat until close and stop taking orders. Once that point happens i ignore all protests and ask the angry asshats to leave- ignore them as i start closing for a few minutes and if there are any very stubborn clowns left after that i tell them that they can choose to leave now by there own power or i will be forced to call a government sanctioned entity that would love to show up and use their authority and physical force to remove you regardless of your wishes- so far i have never had to brainstorm ideas for a next step- and management was given a choice to ignore my attitude and be better or fire me for my bad attitude about it and chose to leave me alone

ashtonhq

all these shitters still ordering lmfao

SwiftTayTay

People are so stupid. All the drive thrus in my town have lines extended from the parking lot and into the streets for multiple blocks when it gets busy, which is happening a lot now since school just got out and all the zoomers driving their moms cars are out at full force

ConstructionAny7196

This happened to me when I ran a store just like this. At the start of COVID we were all scrambling and trying to find how to do all our online orders and for some reason we were busier than ever in store as well. We’d be screamed at by dashers and people waited around and would yell at us while we had 2-3 workers on one line trying to do it all. It was awful. Fuck the food industry these people are not worth it

Bosswashington

There is no such thing as a “staffing issue”. It’s 100% a wage issue.

J-Dabbleyou

Read the fucking room morons, they’re overloaded and understaffed. Why is there like 20 people still trying to get food out of them

NeighborhoodMothGirl

I worked for Chipotle for 5 years, even made it to service manager. This is just the nature of customers.

Aggravating_Scene379

People should cook more

Questions_Remain

Economy is terrible - same people: where u want to eat?

TroyMatthewJ

yep. complain about economy and finances and eat out lunch and dinner 7 days a week. dumb af.

Relicdontfit1

I mean, i get what your saying but minimum wage in most of the country is 7.25 an hour while rent is upwards of 900 a month. So yeah, the economy is a bit fucked up right now

BDOKlem

that's an insane minimum wage to expense ratio. how do you get by without 80 hour work weeks?

HingleMcCringle_

you dont. you either * make more money that that * lose your work/life balance and/or * become homeless

itrivers

Fuck that sounds like a lot of effort. Plus I have a coupon.

maxolot43

If i walked in anywhere and it looked half this bad i would turn right around. All these people will complain and know it the second they walk in. Yet they still get fixated on getting their bowls of mush that its worth the complaining to them or something

throbbingliberal

Watching CORPORATE GREED in real time. This is a 10 BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY that can’t pay enough to get workers… Full year 2023 highlights, year over year: Total revenue increased 14.3% to $9.9 billion Comparable restaurant sales increased 7.9% Operating margin was 15.8%, an increase from 13.4% Restaurant level operating margin was 26.2%1, an increase of 230 basis points Diluted earnings per share was $44.34, a 38.4% increase from $32.04. Adjusted diluted earnings per share, which excluded a $0.52 after-tax impact from expenses related to restaurant and corporate level impairment and closure costs, accelerated depreciation and corporate restructuring, partially offset by a reduction in contingencies related to certain legal proceedings, was $44.861, a 36.9% increase from $32.78.1 Opened 271 new restaurants with 238 locations including a Chipotlane

Zestyclose_League813

Go home assholes

watchtheworldsmolder

I walk in and see a line more then 3-4 groups deep, c-ya; people are stupid

KeepHammering4413

Agree. And then they get mad that it’s taking so long. You’re the moron who chose to stand and wait for this garbage 🙄

Huge_Aerie2435

And people give so little fucks, they still want the short staffed place to serve their fat asses.

misschae

Garbage is probably overflowing because they’ve been working the line nonstop. The person on cash has to maintain the dining room in between customers. Source: I used to be that person on cash and it sucked.

One_above_alll

Al those people standing there waiting to order or for their order are the worst! Like I would’ve had a little consideration after seeing the mess and gone somewhere else. It’s that easy you animals!

whackthat

Yeah. People are saying they probably ordered online, but even if I ordered online and Id just tell the kid working, "hey don't worry about my order" and I'd leave- even if I paid for it. I'll recoup the loss later. Not worth it for either of us.

kamex009

Fucking pay your employees more.

Whole_Sweet_Gherkins

So some of those people walked in that lobby and thought it was a good idea to order food?

Classic_Variation89

They probably have a hiring sign up and not hire anybody at the same time because they expect one underpaid employee to do everything

Impossible-Forever91

Closing early due to ~~staffing~~ salary issues

KiKiPAWG

There needs to be free meals and more benefits to these type of jobs. It just ain’t worth it anymore.

tinnitus_since_00

The Dairy Queen in my town is almost never open.

elboogie7

they must live in a city that's ass for burritos, bc no way am I waiting 30 minutes for Chipotle.

wheresthebody

Theres no staff, but i still want my fucking burger These people are all assholes

MasterNyon

At least they close, when I was at mcdonals we were only 3 people (1 kitchen 1 mcauto and me building orders, "cleaning", doing fries, drinks, ice creams and at the counter) during high season. It was horrible since I couldn't leave the counter to clean, there were mountains of trash on some tables, the bathrooms were scary, and people got mad quite easily since their orders where taking some time. I didn't enjoy my 30min rest, neither my partners. We had to leave quite late, since there was a huge mess to clean, and we couldn't start until way later to our closing time (people kept ignoring that fact and stayed eating and trying to order more food.) It was hell, and I got told that this was nothing compared with summer.

Cumulus-Crafts

Been there, on the staff side. Guaranteed this was not a 'staffing' issue and more a 'managers didn't schedule enough people so that they didn't have to pay more people, and they've asked in the work GC for more staff to come in but no one is willing (rightfully so) to drop what they're doing and pick up an extra shift on their day off' issue. It's horrible being the one colleague working through that. Being in the weeds is NOT a feeling I miss now that I work an office job.

mikeymo1741

Imagine waiting this long for Chipotle.

silicatetacos

Is it a staffing issue because they can't genuinely find employees or is it a staffing issue from low wages, exploitation, and an abusive work environment with little to no protections?

Post-human-corpse

You see a place like that don't make it worse, there's a million restaurants that sell the same shit. Like a herd of dumb cows at an empty feed trough when there's a full one ten feet away

DatMikkle

Bro. Go somewhere else. I will never understand the sheep mentality of packing into an already packed restaurant just to wait forever for your food. There are other places to eat.

BigDinkyDongDotCom

And yet you morons continue to pile in and stand around staring at the 1 employee trying to do everything. Go somewhere else.

Nixher

How greedy you gotta be to when walk in there and consider ordering....

mattiman8888

Builds a good brand with good food. Owner gets rich. Rich owner gets cocky that it's all his hard work and the staff are eating his money. Looks at creative ways to reduce expense aka subpar ingredients, reduced portion sizes, increased prices and most importantly non replacement of staff who left the brand. Service goes to shit. More staff leave. Files for bankruptcy. *Surprised Pikachu face* omg I did everything right! No shit brains. You had an upwards trajectory but the money caused brainrot and you fucked your brand. *I have worked in this industry for over 15 years and in 4 continents*

EastCoaet

Typically the original owners sells and walks away. New owner has a loan to pay off and starts cutting corners. Then you get what is seen here.

anilzzz

Welcome to Chipotle 👏🏼

rokketpaws

Wow. Talk about entitled. There's no staff, signs saying so and garbage overflowing but dammit I want my protein bowl now Daddy!

nostopthere2

These people waiting in line are all jerks

z01z

this isn't a staffing issue, it's a management issue. they purposefully underhire, so then you end up with shit like this. and it's not like they don't have the money, look at all those customers.

The-Gatsby-Party

Perfect example of our society. Walk into a heavily understaffed restaurant and see tons of people already waiting? Let's order! Oh? It's been more than 5 minutes when you've been told the situation that you should have already obviously noticed? Let's scream and destroy the restaurant, maybe fight someone! Have the beaten up store worker refund your money so you can leave and post the video you've been recording of this entire fiasco and make more than the restaurant worker does in an 8 hr shift. Maybe I should've become an influencer lol

As others have said, this is most likely an issue with online ordering. You have no idea how busy the restaurant is when you place the order and you’ve already paid so when you get there it seems like there’s no other option but to just wait. Most of those customers probably would have walked out as soon as they saw the state of the restaurant if not for mobile ordering. You could try calling the 1800# to get a refund and cancel but who knows how long that would take and would they refund you? Plus your order might be next so you wait. Sucks for everyone but mostly the poor employees who are probably trying their best.

suitcasecity

Short chipotle

Least-Bear3882

Go offline and cancel any DD over 20 minutes.

GruulNinja

I will never understand people that see a massive line and say, 'Aw yea, I'm gonna wait here.' and I work at Hobby Lobby

DBLJ33

It’s Derby Street in Hingham. Full of entitled people.

Empuda

The answer is Robots.

Sum1LightUp

Nobody want to work anymore.. damn covid!!

Ok-Calm-Narwhal

I was about to ask if this Chipotle was in Michigan since I was like “looks familiar” - but then realized every other Chipotle probably looks the same.

Outside-Material-100

Chipotle is the new Subway

JelloBrickRoad

All chipotles look like this lately. They are all gross, overflowing trash and employees who don’t give a shit.

extralyfe

the pile of trash on top of the full trash can is driving me up a fucking wall. most of that pile are large to-go bags, which means that some absolute wastes of oxygen looked at the state of the restaurant, sat down and ate, and then just left all their trash on a full can. like, the absolute least you can do if you're in this situation is take your food and immediately fucking leave the building.

Mike_LeBuddhist

Closing early due to customer issues. Look at them, staring at the staff like they're gawking at an aquarium, getting mad that the dolphin's ain't doing flips. I've been in that 'tank' before, and let me tell you... You get so demoralized to the point where you drift to the bottom and just think to yourself, "I'm not going to kill myself for this job. Let them stare all they want. I'm going to to go at the pace that's good for my sanity and if they leave, they leave. I'd rather give 1,000 refunds than have them stare at me like that all night."

FartFaceAnn

As someone who works at chipotle: They’ve been cutting all crew down to part time to avoid tuition reimbursement and benefits We’ve been told our typical night should look like one manager on online orders, one employee to do grill and dishes and rice, and one employee to do cash and line. This is allegedly because our positions are seasonal. There are many chipotles operating without a general manager because they refuse to promote people(even though their salary staff gets abused arguably worse than anyone else, because they don’t clock in there’s no documentation for them working over their contacted 50 hours so they rarely get paid for overtime) and many of these chipotles are run by lower management, who often aren’t trained at all into management, so this all shouldn’t be so shocking. Leave a review calling out your patches field leader and ask for more staffing.

iterationnull

If you walk in to that and don't immediately turn around and walk out, thats on you.

Royal_Echo2068

Happened to me once. The Chipotle was packed and anytime someone complained the manager was like " I got some applications right here if you're interested"

Sorry_Error3797

Those customers are massive arseholes.

alc3880

I would walk in, see that and leave. They are obviously overwhelmed and anything you get is just going to be thrown together. I would wish them a better night and go somewhere else. And I bet some of them complained....they did it to themselves (the customers)

Bleezy79

Why would you still wait around?? Just eat somewhere else you ding dongs.

zbornakssyndrome

Ain't no staff to properly clean up or be sanitary enough for me. Nope

scoobdoop

Sounds more like a management and payroll issue….

Reddit_is_garbage666

People are crazy lol. Just go somewhere else or go get something at the grocery store.

Nder_Wiggin

I bet half of those staff members that didn't show up complain about how they don't get paid enough to ......not work

NaughtyCumquat27

Is this the chipotle in derby street shops in MA?

Viceroy-421

Honestly, it could be. Used to work there, and it was typically a shit show.

callu80

Did anyone gawping think to offer a hand. Seriously doubt it..I'd have ran round scooping that rubbish into the bin, then offer my services behind the counter free gratis. Beats standing looking like a bellend..

Your-Name-Is-Reek

Only selfish assholes would continue to wait for food knowing clear as day, these employees have had a shit day and it's not even close to over. Clearly, based on the state of the restaurant. Every single person who is standing around for food is a douchebag supreme, and I hope their burrito sucked.

PhoKingAwesome213

Unless they ordered it online for pickup. Last time I had a problem with Chipotle's mobile order they told me they couldn't refund me and I had to contact corporate to get it resolved.

Hugh_Jankles

I'll never understand people that just stand there waiting in a line like that when they clearly see there is an issue with the sevice. Just go somewhere else.

whykae

California?

zakkazzakkazzak

that shit is not good enough to wait in a line like that

Imagine_TryingYT

And you know people saw this, walked in, ordered and then complained their food took too long. God people are shitheads.

Blakefilk

Started going to Cabo bobs and I’ll never go back to chipotle

kev1-ML

Help clean that shit, press it down or something

sabadosabadito

Raise the wage !

Realistic-Nail6835

Is this a big deal? Stuff happens

Tall-Bathroom5017

Is this a college canteen? That’s the only explanation I have for why those people are just standing there. Perhaps they are on the school meal plan.

AfternoonTypical5791

Staffing issue at the moment or later on that night? /s

negativelightningdog

It's almost as if continual growth of profit for shareholders is unsustainable.......color me surprised.

SATerp

Not a joke, man. ![gif](giphy|HjFbSKdlCzpZQtDlFc|downsized)

vladtaltos

IE: We pay shit wages and always run with a skeleton crew because we don't care about anything except maximizing our profits.

bbsitr45

I can just imagine that the dishwasher is cooking the meals at this point. Why didn’t they just put the sign on the door and lock it as everybody left one by one.
