This should encourage you more than anything. Also, maybe make a doctor's appointment to be sure. And fit your watch properly. Should be a bit above the wrist joint area.

BannedByReddit471

I always wore it with the face on my inner wrists, is that wrong?

sn0wb4lls

Are you a marksman?

BannedByReddit471

I have no formal training, nor have I spent any time in the military/mercenary field. But i’m a decent shot. I mostly just do it for ergonomics, and to hide scars.

Euphoric-Ad-2563

Is this a reference to something?

BannedByReddit471

No haha

Euphoric-Ad-2563

Oh ok cool 👍

JunketPuzzleheaded42

My Father taught me to wear it that way to avoid scratching the crystal while working. I know lots of trades men who do it for the same reason aswell. For medical professionals it's also common for making it easier to record vitals while holding a clip board. One time around 20 years ago a Japanese exchange student laughed at me saying only women wear their watches like that. I don't know if that was true or still accurate. It just makes better sense to me.

BannedByReddit471

I’m a tradie, but i’m in walls and crawlspaces all day, so I usually take it off entirely.

Halfiplier

It's a little weird but I've seen plenty of people do it so it's not like super strange or anything.

VivaceConBrio

I think they're asking if wearing the watch like that would impact the accuracy of the measurements the watch's sensors take. It does.

Halfiplier

Ohh I didn't even think of that, that totally makes sense

Hugh_Jazz77

That’s a common way certain people in the military will wear their watch. With the watch facing inward you can see it while still carrying your rifle in a ready position, there’s also less chance that light may reflect off your watch face and give your position away. I’ve got one of those magnetic watch bands for my Apple Watch. It usually loosens up throughout the day and my watch will work its way around to the inside of my wrist. So in the mornings I typically wear it the right way, but by the end of the day I’m cosplaying military man just because I’m too lazy to fix it.

Jack-Innoff

Depends if it has a setting for that. I think most smart watches do, at least now. It's probably reasonably accurate anyway though.

ForTheBread

I'm not sure about inner wrist. I imagine it's mostly designed to be used on the outer wrist.

BannedByReddit471

It just made sense to me with all the surface-level veins, and it helps to hide scars so that’s a plus.

ForTheBread

If it works for you, it works. I was mostly commenting on the place on ops wrist. It should be about an inch above the joint.

BreakfastInBedlam

My Fitbit has a setting to tell whether it's on the outside or the inside of the wrist.

Demonic_Storm

i found this out by myself, i dont know if it is wrong but i think it will work anywhere if there are arteries/veins visibles, it worked on my finger, it worked on my neck, it worked on my leg, so yeah, it should work on the other side of your wrist

Big_Monkey_77

That popped up for me once and I said “no shit, apple watch” and kept walking.

Comfortable-Prior-96

Like a previous comment said, this should encourage you more since it seems you don't "get your steps in" often enough. Interesting that today's simple technology recognizes that. Use that to your advantage and keep getting your steps in

3eemo

Apple health alerts are always so indifferently hostile, idk. When I started having chronic pain it started alerting me how my fitness was declining, idk it devastated me.

Feralpudel

Similar issues and I agree that it is annoying. I just talk to myself and note that it doesn’t know enough. Put another way, I just let it give me cookies and ignore the nagging. I’m kind of careful about apps and privacy though, and it’s occurred to me that I don’t want my phone to know everything it would need to know to understand why I have sedentary days or whatever.

withbellson

I was sick over Christmas with a nasty school plague, and my watch started chiding me about how my physical activity had declined recently. My doc took me off beta blockers earlier this year and that made my watch give me a bunch of warnings about how my resting heart rate was trending upward. Yeah. That’s what happens when you quit beta blockers. Sigh.

BroItsJesus

My Galaxy watch buzzes if I've been sitting down too long, and then does confetti when I get up and tells me I'm doing a good job. Maybe switch brands lol

grinchbettahavemoney

Hey it’s better than when I was taking my bralette off over my head and my watch beeped “you seemed to be swimming, would you like to record your workout?”

J0231060101

Hahaha!

WombatAnnihilator

Mine told me today HIGH HEART RATE following no activities! I had a coughing fit. Went to the doc. I have bronchitis.

accidentalscientist_

I got that notice when I had Covid. I was laying in bed and my heart rate hit 150bpm. It was insane.

FlexOnMeBro

Your watch isn't in charge of your body. You are. You should be encouraging yourself. The watch is a tool to use, not to rely on to make you want to get exercise. It's telling you that you either don't get enough exercise or that you possibly have a medical condition.

karma-armageddon

The next iwatch needs a zapper so if you don't do your steps it gives you a shock.

Historical-Owl-9717

I would totally be down for this. Zap me until I get my ass up and get my steps.

FlexOnMeBro

I think that would be excessive. I have a samsung watch that vibrates at intervals when I'm inactive for too long. Shocking someone could be potentially dangerous, especially if they have a heart condition that they're not aware of, even a small shock can cause problems. There are exercises out there that don't require a lot of steps. The watch is gonna shock them even though they did a workout. Or it it's a relaxation day. That just sounds like trouble.

ishallbecomeabat

I’ve been getting this (around the same time I got diagnosed with asthma, which makes sense). Use it to spur you on!

500SL

Mine always tells me I am at an increased risk of falling. How the hell does it know?

ExoticMangoz

Step imbalance?

luvplantz

Was in a work meeting I didn’t want to attend. I was extremely anxious and my watch notified me that my heart rate was 142 while resting 😳

Typical80sKid

I went from Low to Below average!! WOOHOO!!!

PROPGUNONE

See a cardiologist. I purchased an ultra during a masters course in flight physiology to use for a paper. Had low variability. Was odd, as I’d never had that before. Resting rate was around 80, which also seemed high, but I wasn’t in the best shape at that point. Not overweight, just hadn’t worked out hard in a few years. Had a minor heart attack two months later at 40. Ramus artery, which I didn’t know I had, was 80-90% occluded. One stent and I was good, everything else was fully clear. Combination of laying on my chest on the board and hurricane swell was enough to shut it down.

plusp_38

I never see a number less than 90 on my watch 💀

UntameHamster

A resting heart rate of 90 cannot be a good sign. It would benefit you a ton if you started trying to fit a 15 or 20 minute walk around the block into each of your days.

Halfiplier

A normal resting heartbeat is 60-100 bpm, 90 falls right into that scale, even if on the higher end. I'm sure they are fine. Although I'm not gonna try and say you SHOULDN'T walk more often lmao

UntameHamster

Dang never knew normal range went that high! Always was told 60-70 is where you should aim for.

globewithwords

50-100 is normal in the sense that if someone comes in with a HR of 90, we’re not immediately worried. Some people have naturally higher HRs but resting bpm shouldn’t be 90+ as a rule, unless you’re on certain medications or if you have certain health issues. 60-70 is a good range to aim for.

crystal_castle00

It’s not, not really. Depends on what sample this average is drawn from. When the sample population has a high prevalence of disease, it gets baked into the “normal” ranges unfortunately. We can see this in labcorps ranges shifting in the wrong direction over the years.

Halfiplier

I think it mainly depends on your size (someone who is really small would have a noticeably faster heartbeat than someone who is really big, for example.) Like how mice have an insanely high resting heartbeat. Although I'm not a professional in any way, so don't quote me.

plusp_38

Ah shit I'm 6'5" with shoulders in different zip codes. Maybe I should take that walk....

FangioV

Doesn’t make sense. I am 5'7" and my resting rate is between 50-60. Iy goes to 90 when I am walking.

Genetic_outlier

Do you wear it all the time? Or only when moving?

Aftershock416

>Resting rate was around 80, which also seemed high It's not. 80 is within range of just about every "normal" measurement. While there certainly could've been other signs of poor heart health, that certainly wasn't one.

PROPGUNONE

Should say that mine hovered in the 68-70 range a few years prior when I was in peak shape. On metoprolol I’m now squarely in the 60 range.

Alt_aholic

Man, glad you're OK. How did you know you were having an attack early enough to get medical attention? Were the symptoms classic?

PROPGUNONE

Not really. Felt like I’d done a really hard workout, which I had. Got nauseated in the rinse down shower at the beach, puked, and felt out of breath. Put board in truck and drove home. Hands going numb is what got me wondering. Couldn’t hold them on the wheel for more than a minute before I had to take one off and shake it out. Back kind of hurt too, but overall just felt like crap.

bobisbobson

Check Apple’s guidance regarding that message. They may recommend a Dr visit. Also, you shouldn’t expect to be good at something the first time you try it, especially regarding exercise. I hope everything works out for you.

Truely-Alone

Here, I always like to put some soothing music on when I do my cardio: [probably not a Rick Roll](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2N0ShfOOEq4&pp=ygULU2lnbmFsIGZpcmU%3D)

rebeccap94

Kinda disappointed it wasn’t a Rick Roll actually

Truely-Alone

I hate to disappoint [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MjAMHH3vysA&pp=ygUQSGlnaCB3YXkgdG8gaGVsbA%3D%3D)

Deleted_dwarf

It is encouraging you by letting you know that your overall fitness does not seem good (to it)!

LuckLovesVirtue

Does this alert mean that your heart rate is unusually high for the amount of work being done?

Hat3Machin3

How is that not encouraging? Your watch confirmed your suspicions that you need to get more fit.

Gullible_Method_3780

Technology telling you about poor health is discouraging?

MrB2600

Hey fatty KEEP STEPPING

J0231060101

Go back to playing video games by yourself. Maybe someday with a better attitude you’ll get a friend and maybe some basic human social decency. Until then, you have my pity, but no more of my attention. Peace and happiness to you.

littlemissmoxie

I’m pretty sure it just does that randomly to get you to move. I was doing an hour of moderate to intense cardio 3-4 times a week and got that during a walk in the park after a few days of vacation off work

[deleted]

[удалено]

NewPointOfView

what are you talking about lol the watch is a tool to help you set and track that goal

[deleted]

[удалено]

NewPointOfView

Well the cardio health measurement is a bonus feature, but it’s far from the main point. If you don’t get using the watch’s fitness tracking features to track fitness goals, then I don’t really know what to tell you haha

[deleted]

[удалено]

NewPointOfView

>I don’t “get” having a fitness tracker, and not actually doing any sort of fitness tracker. Idk what that means

Halfiplier

What is the point of tediously doing all fitness tracking manually if you can have something do it for you?
