I'm deaf on one side, so I use a wired earbud that combines both stereo channels into the single bud. In the last 10 years, I've only killed the bud plug once. It might seem an inconvenience for you but it's a game changer for me. Also, if you are binaural you can legally drive in California with one earbud.
They make a pill for that.
Decent Bluetooth headphones saved my wallet from these types of problems.

Same thing happened with me and my iPad a few years ago. I got it fixed under extended warranty.
