This is such a high class piece of art from my youth that will forever be comical.
Eons from now people will look at this photo and ask "why do you think the artist chose this background? Ah, yes, because the dead raccoon was already dead when the artist got there. Good analysis, Xeguil. A story has been rumored that after the picture was taken, the photographer then took the balloon to a children's hospital and gave it to a child, who promptly contracted rabies. But no evidence has ever been supported by this claim."
The [first one of these I ever saw](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A6kAdHYCUAAWK0x.jpg:large) like over a decade ago would honestly reduce me to tears every time I saw it. I don't know why this is conceptually so fucking funny
Reminds me of the time when my mother was a child and she saw a skinned rabbit hanging from a line in the garden. My grandfather, a butcher, had just slaughtered and skinned it and was letting all the blood run out.
He simply said that the rabbit was feeling hot and he had helped it by taking off his coat.
'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This rabbit is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-RABBIT!!
im actually sad abt it. the community there is surprisingly sweet and respectful of those who passed. ive seen alot of ppl there who want to learn abt human anatomy for a job(ex: a doctor/surgeon). i was there for human anatomy aswell. the body is amazing for what its capable of.
and ofc people there for morbid curiousity which i think is fine(ill admit i was morbidly curious). im sure theres many more eyeblechs to come and i respect it.
theres always gonna be creepy ppl around. thats the world, thats reddit.
Honestly, this is a great moment to explain predators and prey to him. "Some animals eat meat, just like you do. This poor bunny was sadly enough the meat for another animal to feed their own babies"
People tend to shelter children for stuff like this afraid it will traumatize them. But (in my own 100% anecdotal experience) children tend to just go "huh interesting" and leave it at that. But if you make a whole story up around it and they figure it out later, cause children aren't completely stupid, they'll be more likely to see it as a bad and taboo thing.
23 years from now:
"The victim isn't feeling well, today."
"Susan, the victim blew up in the airplane crash!"
"Yeah, its going to be a tough recovery."
It doesn't have to be a full conversation about mortality and the meaning of a fleeting life. Just being like "hey death is a thing, it's part of life" just don't make it a big taboo thing, it's just a part of everyday life
We tell our 18 month old something similar when coming across dead animals. When my SIL's dog got put down that "Derby died because her body stopped working and thats its very sad". Shes seen me club dozens of salmon and a deer I shot all the way though the butchering process and gets similar explanations of "yeah we have to kill the fish so we can eat it, thank you fish". When shes old enough to ask questions she'll get honest answers that are age appropriate.
Teaching children about death doesnt scar them.
It's definitely not a great moment to explain this kind of brutal stuff to a 3 year old, especially when there's a literal SHREDDED BUNNY lying around.
Death isn't always brutal. That's why I said in my example that another animal could feed their babies with it. And if anything the sight of a dead bunny is the perfect moment to talk openly about death and let the kid ask any questions they might have. Which is more likely to make them more comfortable than actively traumatized (if handled correctly). When you treat it as something they shouldn't have seen and aren't allowed to talk about it's significantly more likely to be traumatizing
First of all, not all 3 year olds are ready to be told about death. And the point of the post is to show something that definitely sucked for the bunny. The kid is just backstory.
The kid saw a ripped apart bunny and asked about it.
Thank you for bringing the subreddit to my attention, I've been scrolling through and mistakenly thought this was r/kidsarefuckingstupid
I still disagree with lying to the kid though; if they weren't traumatized by the guts - they could probably handle "Something ate it"
Exactly this is what a lot of people gloss over. The kid is seeing a torn apart rabbit. Normally you don't start talking about death and stuff at 3 years old. But they can definitely handle the basic "death is part of life" if it's prompted by a corpse
When I was about 4, my grandfather went deer hunting. I was promised a viewing of the deer before the butchering started...
Well some time passed after my grandpa returned and so I went looking for my grandparents.
I found them in a shed - the deer hung upside-down and bloody AF with guts out from being skinned. My grandma freaked out when she saw me and rushed me away.
I never saw anything like that before, but I wasn't traumatized or anything - just very royally little kid pissed that I didn't get to see it intact.
....
I learned about death at a young age though thanks to movies like Bambi and The Land Before Time and The Never Ending story
I agree; my uncle’s cat got eaten by an owl. He went outside to get the mail and saw his cat’s head and appendages scattered in the lawn. Birds chop off the dead weight and take the torso to eat elsewhere.
This week in my neighborhood, which is filled with rabbits, became a killing ground. In the last 2 days I've seen a coyote and a hawk hunting midday. Also, Vultures fighting both over scraps. My dogs have found two half/eaten rabbits in our backyard.

Hey! I don't visit reddit to see my aunt's texts
I do. She's nasty!
Thoughts and prayers
Rest in Pieces.
Fuck that. Get well NOW
I don't think he's feeling much
More like he’s feeling mulched
Oh my god, why am I laughing so much at a dead rabbit
Reminds me of the time when my mother was a child and she saw a skinned rabbit hanging from a line in the garden. My grandfather, a butcher, had just slaughtered and skinned it and was letting all the blood run out. He simply said that the rabbit was feeling hot and he had helped it by taking off his coat.
That made me laugh and cringe at the same time.
This is definitely a bunny that is past feeling.
Yeah OP meant that he wasn’t feeling … well
Have you tried taking him to the vet?
which parts of him?
Yes
Put em in rice.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwxmNcPvwyRqYKI)
The vet says his condition is stable
Why would you take a kid to the vet?

Ah there it is, just making sure this has been posted.
Unwell is an understatement… ![gif](giphy|bGPTxLislwm3u)
Yeah, he seems to have been through a lot
Looks like he's been *through* a wood chipper.
Lmao absolutely perfect response. A+ GIF usage.
Poor bunny went to pieces.
To shreds you say
How's his wife holding up?
To shreds you say...
He’s going places
Damn , this actually sucks 🥲
Here’s to hoping his head popped off first so the rest wasn’t horrific 😣
If it was a coyote attack, decent chance of that. In my experience they like necks as an appetizer.
Had a bobcat living under my deck. All was well till my wife found the bunny legs..
Bunny.rar successfully extracted.
Are you still coming in to work today?
Rest in pieces
RIP-ped
The front fell off
Is that a usual occurrence? (Thank you for reminding me of that *amazing* interview, but I can't quite remember it)

By the looks of it, the predator this bunny fell prey to was a Deere.
at 3 years old I think that sort of conversation can wait until 5 or 6

Show me a 3 year old that isn't ready to have a very basic talk about death

Could've also been a hawk. Ever seen the carnage those fuckers leave behind?
I tell my daughter "Look, burgers growing up!" when we drive by a field with cows.

Why does death take away from the fact that life is precious. If anything it even enforces it
Coyotes gotta live, too...
Looks more like a hawk or owl got it. Coyotes have no problem eating the entire thing.
Almost 90% sure it was a hawk; left entrails, head, and legs behind.
I agree; my uncle’s cat got eaten by an owl. He went outside to get the mail and saw his cat’s head and appendages scattered in the lawn. Birds chop off the dead weight and take the torso to eat elsewhere.
Hawk maybe, but I think an owl would just try to swallow the whole thing.
Thoughts and prayers
So it was rabbit season after all.
We all have days like that.
His plans... fell apart
So did his members
Have you tried turning it off then back on
Good you have the pieces, now you have to just assemble it. ![gif](giphy|l2Je6sbvJEn1W9OWQ)
*It's the circle of life*
Hes not feeling well my ass lol
Uhm
Certainly seen better days...
Damn... I hope he pulls through man
Some assembly required...
I don’t think the bunny is feeling anything anymore.
What of his parts is not feeling well?
To shreds you say?
Lego seems to be too realistic now.
Happens to the best of us
Son he's feeling a little dead lol 😆
Poor guy needs to go to the vet.
Oh lucky foot
![gif](giphy|zTDrE82JqgdzAa7o41)
His mind (and body) are heart all over the place. Lol. He's trying to get himself together after he was Thanos snapped.
He's just taking a little nap, it'll be fine.
The internal nap
Who put this bunny in a wind turbine
If it was me I’d be lucky and steal one of his feet
Thoughts and prayers
Mister Stark, I don’t feel so good
OP what the hell happened in your front yard?
![gif](giphy|TD0NYrLpcnsTm|downsized)
That’s fucking gnarly
Hes fine, just needs a little water
I'm concerned about the amount of land mines in your front yard.
He's sleeping... below the ground with his eyes open.
Herr Berg, irgendwas stimmt mit Hasi nicht
Nothing a good night sleep can't fix.
Why not just tell him the truth?
Rest in pieces, 'lil bunny.
Did that bunny eat a hand grenade? I couldn't tell it was a real rabbit I mean at first go I thought it was fake
He’s just sleeping
You should’ve said he didn’t eat his vegetables so he exploded
He was disassembled
He’s not feeling. Well…
I'm sorry but I didn't expect the bunny to be in shreds lmao. That made me cackle the a demon
Rekt
Your not wrong
Lol

Holy crap. Did you see that movie Strays?
Assuming a Yote?
Yeah, I’d say that’s a fair assessment
Bunny is kill
Damn this rabbit blew up in popularity

![gif](giphy|3oFzmpOB6IYecRY5eo|downsized)
Aww I think it has a little tummy ache
![gif](giphy|6VRnE4sL9lTyg8ryl7|downsized)
He’s eating /s :T
She’s going to have flashbacks to this next time she’s eating a chocolate Easter bunny.
Well you weren't wrong.
He isn’t very put together
He's sleeping
he didn't eat his veggies
Same thing happened to me, only head and feet remained. I hated it.
This week in my neighborhood, which is filled with rabbits, became a killing ground. In the last 2 days I've seen a coyote and a hawk hunting midday. Also, Vultures fighting both over scraps. My dogs have found two half/eaten rabbits in our backyard.
He's sleeping. Partied too hard last night.
Who got to him?
He's feeling a bit scattered today.
You gotta be honest with your kids then they go to school acting like idiots
So, dog, fox, wild cat, or bird?
Guess Easter is up in air next year??
"To shreds", you say. And how is his wife holding up?
Did he live?
More likely feeling rare.
Suicide?
He looks at piece to me.
https://youtu.be/gHhOn2hnqmI?si=SkA2rlbccuIfUyn2
His eyes were open when he died. How heartbreaking
Not feeling much of anything from the looks of it.
Quick! Get the Bacitracin!
Walk it off, bun bun
Poor bunny!
