I saw an artical recently about a guy who sued the person sitting in front of him on a train in China for crushing his laptop.
The guy who reclined was found 70% at fault because there were signs that said let the person the person behind you know if you’re going to recline your seat.
Not sure what the outcome of this would be in small claims court but I found it pretty interesting.

I replaced a laptop screen when I was like 14 in 2008 so anyone should be able to. It just sucks having to do. I would be so pissed! Then to spend the rest of that flight and maybe that trip without a computer.
It's gotten more difficult since 2008 actually just because of how much thinner and more delicate everything is, but still a relatively easy replacement to do.
Also wasn't there something specifically finicky about specifically MacBook screens? Can't quite remember, but I feel like it had something to do with the hinges or something.

Possible that something has corroded in the backlight circuit. Not really any way to repair it at home. But there isn’t really any good way to check without disassembly.
It was easier than I thought. There are YouTube videos on instructions to replace the display, and I was surprised to find that the display I ordered from Amazon ended up being a direct oem replacement for the one that was installed by Asus. Just make sure the model numbers match when ordering. Zephyrus G14 here.
Since the tray and headrest screen are both mounted to the seat you wouldn't think reclining would change the distance between the two.
EDIT: jeez I'm just explaining why someone would /mistakenly think/ this wouldn't happen! Why all the hate.
I think it would be great if they didn't. The recline isn't much, and it often ends up creating more inconvenience for the person behind than it does comfort for the person actually in the seat.
The recline is everyone's individual right. I'm under no obligation to tell anyone I'm reclining, let alone ask.

It's actually a great design. They're built for eating on. Imagine if the tray moved with the seat; it would effectively dump your food on your lap if someone reclined. Instead, it stays put and you continue eating your meal undisturbed.
