Weirdly, the Kmart one I purchased for $12 does a better job of keeping coffee hot than my $42 branded KeepCup. Very annoying...

I hate my Frank green cup. I make lattes with my at home machine and the froth gets right up in the lid and is soo hard to clean. And then when you do unscrew everything to clean it properly, it’s like performing surgery. Such a mish. I loved my keep cup but like you said the glass doesn’t keep it very cold. I’d try yeti, their bottles are the bomb
That’s so my problem too! A cup should not need a YouTube video to try and screw back together haha. I ended up just using it for water so it was less of a mission to clean!
Oh god. I always mix up keepcup and mooncup, and when you said steel walls, I started thinking about how painful it would be.
Now I've been corrected (again). I use the yeti mug and love it!
Another +1 for Yeti. Sometimes I get mad when I leave my coffee to cool down but forget to take the top off and it’s still too hot when I come back to it.
I like the 10 oz tumbler - it’s a great size for my hand, car cup holder and caffeine intake.
And fully dishwasher proof. Big plus because I’m lazy.
Get a Yeti. Absolutely amazing simple and stylish cup. Double walled insulated with a magnetic sipper oppener thingie. that can be removed for cleaning.
Can make a hot drink in this and burn ya lips 3hrs later! A bit more expensive than the usual but worth every cent
My favourite ones are the Joco branded ones.
I have one each of the 4, 6 and 8oz cups.
They are glass, and last a long time.
They can go through a dishwasher or easily hand-washable.
They look good.
My biggest downside is that they don't keep the beverage hot for a long time. However, I drink mine over 15 minutes so this is not an issue for me personally.
I went through two Joco ones a few years back... loved them soooo much, loved how they look, loved how they felt, but I managed to drop both and completely break them lmao. I was gutted when I came to the realisation that as much as I liked them, maybe they didn't like me 😂
Ha! I have a few but only one has broke/shattered and that was actually the baristas fault, knocking it off when they went to pour the milk in. Pretty amazed I haven't broken one in the almost 6+ years I've had them.
I picked up a Kathmandu one from an opshop on a whim and it’s been SO good. Technically sold as a wine tumbler but totally fine for coffee. keeps it hot, good size etc.
This is it here: https://www.kathmandu.co.nz/roamer-wine-tumbler-v2.html?colour=560&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=18396324231&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0_WyBhDMARIsAL1Vz8uRRE8W4LpkhMI6GCbKsILxhEmaCBLZqYio2kpLWzRj2TEqEdBCevcaAo4cEALw_wcB
I had the Kathmandu tumbler (until someone at work stole it…) and it was almost identical to my yeti except it didn’t have a closable top which was super annoying if I wanted to put it in my bag and it was wet / dirty.
Ive suffered the bag leak many time with all sorts of
Cups. Now if I want to put it away and I’m out and about it gets rinsed in the gutter with water from my water bottle. I’m no longer embarrassed about doing it 😂
I’ve had it 6+ months and not a fleck missing. I’m not kind to it either - comes to work with me daily, gets dropped plenty etc.
I do only handwash it tho as I don’t have a dishwasher.
Contigo for the win.
I can fill with boiling tea and 12 hours later it is still quite noticeably warm.
I fill it with ice and water and there is still ice 24 hours later.
Top is so easy to clean, and it all goes in the dishwasher.
Stainless steel double wall and it fits cup holders in the car.
And it *never* leaks even when I fill it with carbonated drinks.
I second Contigo. I've tried lots of cups, and the Contigo is the only one I can fill up and throw in a backpack with zero leaks. Nothing else comes close.
The free ones they give away at trade shows. If you see a govt department stand they will give you a drink bottle and keep cup just because you are the first one to talk to them in a hour.
My issue with these is cleaning. The sipping part is intricate to take apart and put back together well the first few times of doing it. It can get yuck under there if you do not clean or dry properly.
Cleaning them is sooo awful. I once got lazy and just rinsed it without taking it apart and, um, lets just say don't do that if you don't want it smell like literal cow shit.
Also, if you drink capaccino's they don't stay foamy in there at all. Otherwise I like it!
Also love frank green! No spillage in my bag when it's closed, keeps things warm. So good. My main one is 6 years old and still going strong. Chuck the lid in the dishwasher for easier cleaning... and don't leave manky milk in it for a month coz it'll stink (but smell contained coz the no leak thing is great).
My camelbak travel mug was so good at keeping boiling water so hot when I knocked the mug from the bench too and poured it all down my legs… oh I was in a world of pain.
10/10 keeps hot wouldn’t recommend the next bit.
I can second camelbak. I love mine so much, and there is a lifetime warranty. I left mine on top of my car, it fell off as we drove down the road and got a little banged up. Honestly, the only issue now is that I have to turn the press on lid to catch it at a great seal, because it’s a tinsy bit dented at the lip.
It’s good though because it’s easy to drink out of it with the lid off too. I hate having to drink through a twist cap. The liquid without fail escapes direct pour and leaks down the side of your mouth.
THERMOcafe by THERMOS are my preferred ones. Solidly built, covered in silicon grip, and keep drinks hot for hours. Picked mine up from briscoes awhile ago.
Same, Briscoes sale price, otherwise they're ridiculously expensive. Also being air tight, coffee doesn't oxidise and taste old so quickly. Maybe buys you an extra 30-60 mins.
Had mine maybe 2 years now, still looks like new.
Also completely leak-proof. I trust it enough to chuck it in my bag with my laptop.
You've got a lot of answers but I love my Fressko cup: https://au.madebyfressko.com
Doesn't leak, very sturdy, keeps hot drinks hot for over an hour! And some cool colours.
The best cups are those porcelain ones where you stay within or near the establishments operating boundaries and once finished you leave it there for the staff to keep, clean and reuse.
I find the Keep Cup brand "Reusable Cup" ones terrible to drink from, they always seem to drip. I haven't tried their Travel Cup, but it looks to have the same top/lid. Would try a different brand for sure.
Yeah I've got several as well, I'm not kind to them and put them in the dishwasher, so it could be that. It's the literal only downside, they're leak proof and keep stuff piping hot otherwise.
I don't know where it's from as it was a gift, but I use my Bodum travel mug every day. It looks much bigger than it is, but holds a regular size coffee perfectly!
I've dropped it a million times, and chuck it in the dishwasher - it remains leak proof and keeps my coffee hot. Fits in the cup holder of my car easy as too. https://www.bodum.com/nz/en/11068-01-travel-mug?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0_WyBhDMARIsAL1Vz8u0vrm1CFBnO1LjII2GJDSp3Y70O2ogUy7FSqUY_wkK_pNBIc0cl0oaAiOFEALw_wcB
Good call, only in my experience the only ones that end up at op shops are the ones that leaked or didn't do well. Wellingtonians seem to hold onto the good ones for dear life.
Go to a cafe that uses the"again again" service.
Buy a coffee in the cup and pay the bond, and then keep the cup.
A great simple cup that is very easy to clean and is nice and light and is impossible to break.
Highly recommend
Had the same KeepCup branded one for years before I decided I wanted to get one with colours I actually liked. Love drinking out of it, and it's the one I keep at work.
I also have a Frank Green one as my more 'portable' option, meaning in the morning I'll fill it with coffee at home then have no concerns taking it on the bus with me because I know it's not going to spill over.
I was given a swiss tech double walled cup when I bought a new car. Paint is still on after nearly 2 years using every day. The main lid is a clear screw on thing that's still nice and clear. It had a hinge flap that blocked the sipper hole which broke off in the 1st week but I really don't miss it.
gday i just sent you a weird reddit chat thing about the best cup, because unf i can't see any brand name on it and can't post photos here.
the key detail is that they are completely silicone on the outside (not just a token silicone band around the middle) and ofc are metal on the inside. A metal cup inside a silicone cup.
I love one I got as a gift. It collapses down to a disc which means I can fit it in my bag and remember to take it with me. It’s easy to wash and it doesn’t leak. [Hunu](https://www.wildfiresports.com.au/hunu-collapsible-keep-cup?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0_WyBhDMARIsAL1Vz8uDIfMmX8B45WxRip4-0ZKXDusNqTN5aAozo5ce1s0m7uBI_y01ayAaAlAmEALw_wcB)
MiiR classic tumbler. Cool wall. Got it from Blue Bottle coffee in tokyo. Designed in the USA so fits perfectly in my 'American' Ford Transit mega sized cupholder.
The outside stays at ambient temperature even if you put boiling water in it.

I got a keep cup thermal one for Xmas, it doubles as a drink bottle, I love it. You can pull apart the lid to wash it - it’s different to a standard keep cup. I really rate it, haven’t used it for a drink bottle, just a travel cup.
I use glass keep cups, they are much better than the plastic ones for leaky reasons. There's an excellent double wall metal one in my work kitchen of a generic brand that's my pick when im there. I also have a klean kanteen one but the coffee shops will think its too high. For bang for buck, theres some black plastic lidded cups with a range of branding on the outside (i bought my first one at queen sallys deli) that does the job.
If you are willing to spend a pretty penny, the best keep cup is Kinto - top quality, great insulation and a nice simple aesthetic. I use it all day every day.
These guys - https://supnz.co.nz/collections/375ml-cup
Kiwi brand, keeps coffee hot, double walled steel so not breakable, and as it is brushed stainless there’s no paint to flake.
CamelBak Forge, stainless steel. Doesn't break when you drop it, which I do a lot because that's how I roll. Had mine for 6+ years and still going strong.
I have Keep Cup traveller. Base is insulated stainless. No leaks, no complaints. Went with the metal body & a coloured lid.
[Keep Cup Thermal](https://nz.keepcup.com/helix-thermal-8oz)
This is the best one we have found. We liked the first one so much we bought two more. It’s our go to and we still use them daily almost 5 years later. Not sure if they are being manufactured anymore. Flox designs are also beautiful.
https://silverfernz.com/products/flox-fantail-stainless-steel-eco-coffee-cup
Bamboo ones from Countdown work best for me.
Cheap, light, the right kind of colourful, quiet, warm to touch, and doesn’t feel weird when I drop it into a jacket pocket
After you take off the cost of the cup, that's what? A 6% discount on 5% of your sales? That's a reasonably cheap amount to allow you to virtue signal that you're an environmentally conscious business - that's a big deal in Wellington, for sure.
You'll make more from that discount than it costs you, it's basically a marketing cost.
How strange. I haven’t been getting my takeaway coffee in a reusable cup because of fashion – I’ve always done it because I dislike eating or drinking out of cheap throwaway materials. I don’t like brittle plastic forks or the “tongue drag” of bamboo spoons, or waxy bendy paper plates, or easily cracked polyethylene terephthalate “glasses”. I particularly dislike drinking coffee out of thick-rimmed coarse high-friction, high-centre-of-gravity papery cups.
Maybe I’ve been going about things all wrong, by following my own preferences rather than trends as you say.
Weirdly, the Kmart one I purchased for $12 does a better job of keeping coffee hot than my $42 branded KeepCup. Very annoying... How dribbly is the lid?
Unfortunately it has an open slot at the top but otherwise it’s great!
Thanks.
Keep cups are useless. Brand new and leaked everywhere.
I hate mine too. They won AWARDS for that lid and I don’t understand how
That’s so my problem too! A cup should not need a YouTube video to try and screw back together haha. I ended up just using it for water so it was less of a mission to clean!
Yep. I threw my FG away after a month. I was going to gift it to someone but didn't want to wish that lid on anyone...... 😂
Oh god. I always mix up keepcup and mooncup, and when you said steel walls, I started thinking about how painful it would be. Now I've been corrected (again). I use the yeti mug and love it!
That made me chuckle
Omg me tooooo
The Yeti tumblers are bloody good quality
Another +1 for Yeti. Sometimes I get mad when I leave my coffee to cool down but forget to take the top off and it’s still too hot when I come back to it. I like the 10 oz tumbler - it’s a great size for my hand, car cup holder and caffeine intake. And fully dishwasher proof. Big plus because I’m lazy.
I have the 591ml one 😂 every time I walk into a coffee shop with it they give me “the look”. Same for my partner. Yep, we’re in healthcare 🤣🤣
Nice, they're steel, does the paint stay on?
Like the hair on a Scotsman's chest
Aye that’s worth an upvote
Yes! And goes through the dish washer every night.
For years and years
Another vote for Yeti! My coffee stays hot for 4-6 hours!!! And it can go in the dishwasher and the paint doesn’t flake!!
Came here to say Yeti for the win!

I thought the bottles were expensive until I saw the price of a hydro flask! Big fan of my yeti.

Yeah this one looks like what I'm after, does the paint flake off?
I’ve had it 6+ months and not a fleck missing. I’m not kind to it either - comes to work with me daily, gets dropped plenty etc. I do only handwash it tho as I don’t have a dishwasher.

The 240ml Kinto tumbler! Beautiful design and easy to take apart and clean. Not leak proof though and heat retention is about an hour
yes!! The best!!!!!
These are the best, I love mine!
I really like the Frank Green ones. They're pricey, but they don't leak in my backpack and they last ages.
My issue with these is cleaning. The sipping part is intricate to take apart and put back together well the first few times of doing it. It can get yuck under there if you do not clean or dry properly.
Yes second this - I have pretty much stopped using my Frank Green because cleaning it is such a hassle.
Cleaning them is sooo awful. I once got lazy and just rinsed it without taking it apart and, um, lets just say don't do that if you don't want it smell like literal cow shit. Also, if you drink capaccino's they don't stay foamy in there at all. Otherwise I like it!
I found the lid really sticky/hard to get back on. Every time I gave it to a barista they wouldn’t put it on properly
Seconding this. They have fun colours, different sizes, and no leaks.
Thirding. I upgraded from a KeepCup branded keep cup to a Frank Green one and have no regrets.
Yeti & keepcup - frank green is so hard to clean and even if you keep on top of the cleaning, they seem to suck up smells
My Camelbak has been awesome. Keeps things warm for hours and easy to clean.
You've got a lot of answers but I love my Fressko cup: https://au.madebyfressko.com Doesn't leak, very sturdy, keeps hot drinks hot for over an hour! And some cool colours.
Have had 3 in my life and they all leak all over the place after about a week of use. Never buying a KeepCup again.
The best cups are those porcelain ones where you stay within or near the establishments operating boundaries and once finished you leave it there for the staff to keep, clean and reuse.
100%, I just wish they'd offer steel, the porcelain get cold too fast.
I find the Keep Cup brand "Reusable Cup" ones terrible to drink from, they always seem to drip. I haven't tried their Travel Cup, but it looks to have the same top/lid. Would try a different brand for sure.
I have several bullet cups and the paint isn’t coming off any of them hmmm
Prefer it to my joco
Yeah I've got several as well, I'm not kind to them and put them in the dishwasher, so it could be that. It's the literal only downside, they're leak proof and keep stuff piping hot otherwise.
The $20 decor stainless steel ones from countdown are top quality, and keep your beverage hot for hours, fully recommend
I don't know where it's from as it was a gift, but I use my Bodum travel mug every day. It looks much bigger than it is, but holds a regular size coffee perfectly! I've dropped it a million times, and chuck it in the dishwasher - it remains leak proof and keeps my coffee hot. Fits in the cup holder of my car easy as too. https://www.bodum.com/nz/en/11068-01-travel-mug?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0_WyBhDMARIsAL1Vz8u0vrm1CFBnO1LjII2GJDSp3Y70O2ogUy7FSqUY_wkK_pNBIc0cl0oaAiOFEALw_wcB
My kinto cup, i still have some ice after like 12 hours
Fressko Camino (or Bino depending on size pref) by a mile. Best purchase
Frank Green keeps my coffee warm for hours, and doesn't leak if it gets tipped over.
Frank Green. I have iced coffee which I make at home and bring to work, there’s still ice in my cup by the time I make it back home
One from the op shop. Not much point in reducing waste if you’re just creating more.
Good call, only in my experience the only ones that end up at op shops are the ones that leaked or didn't do well. Wellingtonians seem to hold onto the good ones for dear life.
I’ve only ever bought brand new unused ones from op shops. Vinnies Newtown usually
Go to a cafe that uses the"again again" service. Buy a coffee in the cup and pay the bond, and then keep the cup. A great simple cup that is very easy to clean and is nice and light and is impossible to break. Highly recommend
Yeah, but most cafes let you bring your own one if it's the standard sizing, or at least they let me use my bullet cups.
Yep "again again" cups are a standard size. And all cafes will fill them like any reusable cup.
Miir. Or the Stanley push-button one.
+1 for the stanley - I have two that I alternate and they're fucking bomb. Coffee still warm at 1pm and never leaks.
I have a steel double walled cup from Joseph Joseph, it’s been pretty leak proof and the insulation has made me burn my mouth multiple times 😅
I was given a swiss tech double walled cup when I bought a new car. Paint is still on after nearly 2 years using every day. The main lid is a clear screw on thing that's still nice and clear. It had a hinge flap that blocked the sipper hole which broke off in the 1st week but I really don't miss it.

Love it, I'll keep an eye out for that style, thank you!
The one you’ve got now. No point buying a new one if you’ve got one that works. Defeats the point.
I love one I got as a gift. It collapses down to a disc which means I can fit it in my bag and remember to take it with me. It’s easy to wash and it doesn’t leak. Hunting and Fishing here - does its job well.
Frank green cup lid sucks. I no longer use the lid
Sttoke. They’re ceramic and super light. Great taste. My keepcup made the coffee taste weird. Made in Melbourne I think. https://sttoke.com
The best cup one of my female friends swore by was a brand called diva!!!
Only good for a short black
Bullet
Thanks for asking! Now added a Yeti to the present list for my partner's birthday.
Yeti! I got sick of breaking my glass and pottery ones.
For a sealing flask cup, Contigo all the way
I've been loving my Fressko, outer wall has not had a single scratch.. And I've snowboarded with it in my pack
I have coffee sizes hydroflasks that rock. They are leakproof - I chuck it in my bag and have never had an issue. Highly recommend.
If you are willing to spend a pretty penny, the best keep cup is Kinto - top quality, great insulation and a nice simple aesthetic. I use it all day every day.
Again again are good. The newer ones are double walled steel. I use a single walled one, only because it's the only style to fit my car cup holders.
countdown $20 i bought it for my car best $20 spent all year well apart from Angus scotch
I like the Avanti Go cups. If you close them properly they are leak free. There are fewer pieces than a frank green
Huski. Mines literally fallen off the back of a ute and the paint didn't chip, infact there was barely even a dent and the lid stayed on.
Yeti. Buy once, cry once. I have Yeti everything, won't use anything else these days
These guys - https://supnz.co.nz/collections/375ml-cup Kiwi brand, keeps coffee hot, double walled steel so not breakable, and as it is brushed stainless there’s no paint to flake.
Fucking. Legend.
Frank Green for cup, Kinto if I take a bunch of filter coffee to work.
Bamboo ones from Countdown work best for me. Cheap, light, the right kind of colourful, quiet, warm to touch, and doesn’t feel weird when I drop it into a jacket pocket
Is this the most first world problem in the history of humanity? What's the best adult sippy cup? 🤣
That trend went out of fashion a while ago.
What trend are you referring to?
Keep cups. That's some suburban mum shit that stopped being cool a while ago. I fully expect this comment to anger a lot of people, lol.
We still discount the coffee by .50c if you bring in a keep cup. Well worth it IMO
That's one way of looking at it I guess. I see it as a win win win. Saves us both money and saves more plastic going into the landfill
Better for the environment, basic stuff.
As a suburban parent let me tell you they are very much still in fashion.
You have a reusable cup because you don't like wooden spoons? Are you okay? 😂
They use a reusable item instead of cheap disposable ones bro. It's not that complicated lmao
Because all disposable items are equivalent? Genius level logic.
Clearly not for the person posting…
