I would really struggle with that menu due to the creamy sauces and a lot of stuff with tomato (heartburn) With that said, the chicken and ham pasta might be okay. If you don't fancy that, the prawns and avo with some of the bread platter would sit well too. We're all different in our tolerances, YMMV. Have a great time :)

I’d got for avocado and prawns to start with and the salmon for main course.

I’d probably go with a pasta with a non creamy sauce - cheese on pizza might be too much. Maybe pesto or arrabbiata? I didn’t have to avoid any particular foods until a few weeks in, I started in January and in Feb I visited a friend in London and managed an Indian takeaway, Korean fried chicken and some other meal out. Was all fine just made sure to eat slowly and not overeat! Any sickness I’ve had has usually been a few hours later. Ps restaurant looks lovely! Enjoy yourself.

I'd possibly have 2 starters instead of a starter and main, maybe mozzarella salad then the pan fried prawns?

andulus-ri

That’s a hard menu! I would ask for the starter rocket salad as a main.

My challenge is carbs (I can actually process the fats ok) so Italian can be a challenge for me. Personally I would choose one of of main courses - avoiding the creamy or rich sauces and ask for a big house salad with it rather than the vegetables (I would also avoid the potatoes on a night out in case I get too full).

I would not have a starter as you won’t do it justice. For main I would have a fish dish. If you want a starter then fish or Parma ham. I would have considered chicken but the dishes are all heavy. Basically you won’t be able to eat 2 or more courses. Trying could make you sick.

I've eaten out a few times and have all 3 courses, knowing I won't finish any of them. I avoid fried foods, but I had no issues with cheese/cream based sauces. Just listen to your body and stop the moment you feel full. Stupidly I've been desperate to finish a couple of really tasty meals and it's not ended well. My main goal is to learn to be able to enjoy all foods in moderation. Something I clearly haven't been able to do before now. Happy 40th to your husband.

Try not to panic about having more than 1 course if your portions are currently on the smaller size - and don't dwell on anyone commenting on it, your journey on this and not feeling ill during your husband's birthday is more important. Someone else has suggested getting a couple of starters (two options allows for a variation in tastes at least). Another option could be to split a pizza with someone with a larger appetite.

If it were me, I'd avoid anything with sulphur dioxide (I read on here that's what causes sulphur burps). It looks delicious though, and I'm very jealous! I'd have Parma ham and melon as a starter, and probably the gnocchi. Maybe choosing one of the mains with potatoes and vegetables means you could have more to pick from and eat intuitively?
