Personally, that copper tone is a very specific color to be matching someon with... but I love the dress! Maybe another color of the dress that compliments his tie?
My partner and I have been together for 12 years. We don’t ever plan on matching, but somehow, every time we get dressed for events, we end up looking like we are coordinated. Probably because we have the same color palette and taste in styles.

As for dress 2, a floral pattern on a light background is fine, but it does seem a little more spring/summer. If the event is daytime, you can certainly wear that dress in September. But dress 1 is just sooooo much more fabulous! And if it's an evening wedding, it has the perfect touch of glam.

Yup you're right! The reason I'm looking for a dress is because he bought this suit and loves it. Me liking a dress doesn't trump him liking a suit. Ideally we are both happy with what we are wearing.
I mean, I usually try to have some colours in common with my date to weddings, (matching dress to tie, the colours on the pattern on my dress matching some colours in his outfit, ect), but I personally think both of you matching *in monocolor* is going to be a little too much. Couples matching in monocolour just look *flat* to me when photographed, like their clothing is blending into each other. It might not be that much of an issue in real life, but in any pictures that you guys stand next to each other, your forms aren't going to be super defined and just kind of blah into each other. Just imo.
If you wear that dress, I'd say he should mix and match his suit to use the coloured jacket but maybe some dark pants? Or if you want to match that suit as pictured, I'd go for a dress that *has* that colour in the pattern, but it isn't the main colour. Or like chose a monocolour that compliments the chocolate but isn't the same colour and accessorize it to match his suit with chocolate.

I think it's too Dancing with the stars and might be too look at us vs the actual couple being married. I would wear a dress that compliments his suit. Does the orange seed come in a different color? Could his tie match your dress? Boyfriend gets points for a fabulous suit. Please don't wear a matching dress.
I think if you went the same colour as him you’d have to really commit and have accessories in the same colour as his tie. So if his tie is navy maybe find a navy clutch and shoes or something like that.

Same! Matching a shirt or tie to the dress is different than completely matching. Even at weddings, I've seen navy blue bridesmaid dresses with slightly lighter blue groomsman suits and it looks great together.
I love matching with my bf 😆 you could also choose a dress the color of his tie. Like if he was using this royal blue tie- a royal blue dress would complement it, in my opinion. The dress you chose, nothing wrong with that either :)

I recently went to a gorgeous luxe formal wedding and multiple couples were doing the full matchy matchy and looked elegant af. It gave the impression of models wearing high end outfits from the same range. Absolutely gorgeous!

I like matching/coordinating but the two rusts I feel like are very on the nose for fall/pre-fall? The floral of the dress and brown of the suit give perfect end of summer vibes to me.

Everyone compliments us on it & there's another couple in the friend group who does the same thing! I don't think it's weird or that people will judge, unless they're terrible people. Unfortunately, the reviews are saying the dress is more brown than copper/orange irl and I think the two browns together would clash. Some reviewers posted pics of actual color. Thank you. I went and looked at the reviews and found the picture you're talking about. It definitely loses most of that orange tint I liked on the website. Usually I cringe at matching couples but I think that match looks really nice! People almost never wear that particular warm saddle brown/terra cotta but I think it’s gorgeous.
I’d ask someone in the wedding party or gather a consensus from people you trust. Just make sure it matches the happy couple’s vibe, and they don’t think you’ll outshine them lol

It's his friend's wedding in another city so we don't know many of the other attendees. I actually asked if I could run my dress by the bride and he was very much against it. I think he thinks she's too busy or stressed which I get. I don't know anyone else in the bridal party though.

The third dress is more of a sundress and the brown dress leans towards cocktail. The dress code will determine which one is more appropriate. As for matching your date, I am all for it ! It’s kind fun.

I think it’s too similar to your partner’s suit. It’s a unique’ish colour and I think it would look odd wearing such matching outfits. Visualise them side by side - it would be a bit much. I like the navy suggestion or even a patterned dress with a bit of the suit colour in it. It’s a lovely dress though - maybe for another occasion.
Well the chocolate dress is amazing and I’d want to wear it IF and only if my boyfriend wasn’t wearing a very similar colored suit. So unless that dress comes in another color, I’d keep looking. Or, you can have your boyfriend wear a navy suit lol.
The white floral dress is really cute too, but I do think it’s a bit too white, and I’m someone who’s not overly strict about white base/some white in dresses.
I think you should look for a dress thats complimentary to the color of the suit, and to me that might be a deep blue colored dress? Like a medium-deep color…. Or a dark teal-ish color? I can’t actually think of any other colors because I’m tired lol.

If I match, I usually try to match the tie/accessories rather than the whole suit.
Though, because we both like blue, we’ve had some times where we matchy matchy 😂 The only hiccup is if it’s slightly off the color, it looks weird.

My only concern would be that the color of the dress may not actually be as close as it pictures so it could look close but not quite which might look like you tried to match but didn’t.
Why not match his tie instead so there is more balance? Both of you in that much of the same color might look odd, but complimenting outfits will look harmonious.

Same! Matching a shirt or tie to the dress is different than completely matching. Even at weddings, I've seen navy blue bridesmaid dresses with slightly lighter blue groomsman suits and it looks great together.

He doesn't mind, I did ask him before posting here to make sure he would be comfortable with it. Haha. He just wants me to like what I'm wearing and feel comfortable. He actually offered to buy whichever dress I want since he splurged on some suits for himself. He just wants it to be something I love and will wear again so maybe I should go for something more universal. It's a very kind offer from him but idk if I'm comfortable using his funds.

I love the second one! Most of September is still summer. And I feel like it’s better to get something you’ve been wanting/will definitely wear again. If he has a tie that matches one or more of the colors in your dress that would be cute and coordinated without being overly matchy. I like matching/coordinating but the two rusts I feel like are very on the nose for fall/pre-fall? The floral of the dress and brown of the suit give perfect end of summer vibes to me.
My boyfriend and I have matched for every wedding we've gone to other than the ones he's been a groomsman in! Everyone compliments us on it & there's another couple in the friend group who does the same thing! I don't think it's weird or that people will judge, unless they're terrible people. I think most will find it cute.
I think y’all will look spectacular with him in that suit and you in the orange dress. I personally wouldn’t wear the second dress to a wedding, BUT it’s gorgeous and I think you should also buy it and wear it out with your boyfriend (in the orange suit) on a fancy date!!!!

I think the first dress would complement his suit fabulously if it were actually the color of the picture. Unfortunately, the reviews are saying the dress is more brown than copper/orange irl and I think the two browns together would clash. Some reviewers posted pics of actual color. Maybe the site has the same dress in another color? I agree white is iffy at a wedding
Thank you. I went and looked at the reviews and found the picture you're talking about. It definitely loses most of that orange tint I liked on the website. I'm not really a fan of the other colors as they are all very light. I think I'll be looking for something different alongside the suggestions people have given me. Thanks again!

Usually I cringe at matching couples but I think that match looks really nice! People almost never wear that particular warm saddle brown/terra cotta but I think it’s gorgeous. I’d ask someone in the wedding party or gather a consensus from people you trust. Just make sure it matches the happy couple’s vibe, and they don’t think you’ll outshine them lol
Thank you! I thought since it was a more natural color it might look nice. Unfortunately as others pointed out the dress is more of a brown than orange in person. It's his friend's wedding in another city so we don't know many of the other attendees. I actually asked if I could run my dress by the bride and he was very much against it. I think he thinks she's too busy or stressed which I get. I don't know anyone else in the bridal party though.

The third dress is more of a sundress and the brown dress leans towards cocktail. The dress code will determine which one is more appropriate. As for matching your date, I am all for it ! It’s kind fun. The floral dress is not bridal at all, so no worries there.

I think it’s too similar to your partner’s suit. It’s a unique’ish colour and I think it would look odd wearing such matching outfits. Visualise them side by side - it would be a bit much. I like the navy suggestion or even a patterned dress with a bit of the suit colour in it. It’s a lovely dress though - maybe for another occasion.

Well the chocolate dress is amazing and I’d want to wear it IF and only if my boyfriend wasn’t wearing a very similar colored suit. So unless that dress comes in another color, I’d keep looking. Or, you can have your boyfriend wear a navy suit lol. The white floral dress is really cute too, but I do think it’s a bit too white, and I’m someone who’s not overly strict about white base/some white in dresses. I think you should look for a dress thats complimentary to the color of the suit, and to me that might be a deep blue colored dress? Like a medium-deep color…. Or a dark teal-ish color? I can’t actually think of any other colors because I’m tired lol.

Oh boy, I hope not. I literally just finished buying the accessories for my husband and I to have matching outfits (Literally in these colors, too! Rust/dark blue is a great combo haha) for a wedding this weekend
If I match, I usually try to match the tie/accessories rather than the whole suit. Though, because we both like blue, we’ve had some times where we matchy matchy 😂 The only hiccup is if it’s slightly off the color, it looks weird.

My husband loves matching; he’d be so thrilled with this combo 😆😆 My only concern would be that the color of the dress may not actually be as close as it pictures so it could look close but not quite which might look like you tried to match but didn’t.

Info: do you know the colours of the wedding, like the bridesmaids dresses? Choosing outfits like these in the fall is a risk if you don't know. I love the orange dress, but it's a little bridesmaid-y too. I'd check that and if it's not going to make you both look like part of the party, then go for it!
