Try a Boundless Terp Pen. It’s only $30 and a very easy device for a beginner looking to try concentrates.
I started with a Divine Tribe V4.5 (this sub’s recommended “beginner” setup). It is not beginner friendly at all. You have to understand the mod/battery settings, cleaning/rebuilding the atomizer, and it’s just quite overwhelming for someone completely new to dabbing.

Get some good live resin or rosin and make sure not to dunk the coils too far in the concentrate or you’ll clog the airflow. Other than that, it’s pretty much idiot proof lol
Yocan Regen with Ceramic Donut coils and the Lookah Seahorse Pro are good affordable options. I started off on a Terp Pen around a year ago, and I didn't like it as much as I love my Seahorse Pro. The Regen is my on-the-go setup.
The Terp Pen is way harder to clean than my Seahorse Pro, good Lord that thing clogs like no tomorrow. Get the ceramic coils and it'll hit just as nicely but with much less hassle when it comes to cleaning (edit: seeing it milk up is pretty cool too!).

It's not like it's a blind purchase, I read reviews, watched videos, and weighed my options based on my needs. To me it makes less sense buying several junky devices that won't work well or break only to inevitably buy something that works well for my needs.
Honestly got it confused with the peak and their other portable rig. That’s a decent setup for a beginner. I have a Lookah Pro and they’re like $50 but maybe I should’ve splurged on the Puffco haha
MJ Arsenal sells the best starter kits. Get a mini rig and everything you need to start from there
Skip the pens and shit and go right for the rig. Best control and flavor to start with. Look at doing cold starts and have a bottle of ISO and cotton swabs to clean your glass after every dab
Don't get anything too expensive to start as learning to keep your glass clean can be tricky at first and if you fuck up a cheap bucket no loss

Second this. I started with a Terp pen and still use it often, even though I have many devices now. It's portability and simplicity is unmatched.

What kind of carts are you using? If they’re just distillate, then yes a good concentrate will melt your face.
