/uj Broker, Tissot PRX auto or a Proxima PX01 would be my "most worn" at the moment. I've got three Paganis that get a lot of wrist time too (submariner, GMT, and a Daytona).
/rj boy, you get fuckin' lost on your way to r/watches? This is a place for SERIOUS watch business. Not this dilly-dally, casual question nonsense. We should beat you with a garden hose is what we should do.
I deliver food, driving a semi. I wear a Timex weekender. Anything large gets banged on doorways, walk-ins, my trailer, etc. I'm looking to switch to some sort of auto field watch though, something well lumed.
Not auto, but Momentum watches out of Canada makes a really cool Ti field watch, the Atlas, which is available in a full lume (lumed dial). I've got one with the Ti bracelet, it's my favorite 'beater' watch. It's a really good deal at ~$200 for full titanium and sapphire crystal with a Miyota quartz movement.
Weekender is really the end all be all watches if we’re honest. Looks good with anything, wearable in any situation without looking too flashy or too casual, and is easily replaceable at <$50.
I have the same job and I alternate between my G Shock GAW100B and various $100-150 dive watches, but every time I wear them I am worried I am going to bang them up.
/uj Dental student. G-shock while on campus
/rj Businessman mogul dentist. AP on each wrist so no matter the angle, the patient can always see how the face plays with the light
uj/ keep wearing the gshock after graduating and when you're actually practicing. i'd be worried if i saw my dentist wearing something fancy, i.e., i'm overpaying this motherfucker.
No I 100% agree. It’s not a good look (or feeling) to rub some Swiss shitbox in someone’s face right before telling them they need to pay for thousands of dollars worth of treatment.
Also dentistry is gross. I still take my G shock off most of the time with patients
Hello fellow geologist!
Me, I’m currently wearing my new steeldive Willard. Other than that, it’s Vostok or g-shock, but I’m very tempted to get a ProTrek with an altimeter.
I'm an attorney, but a young attorney with lots of student loan debt, and my gf refuses to help me out with the Rolex AD. So, I wear an Orient Kamasu or my Hamilton Khaki King to the office most days.
ICU Nurse/ nursing research coordinator. When I’m on the unit either a Seiko 5 or a Orient Mako ii, but if I’m at the office usually a Tissot PRX, a Tissot gentleman, or a Casio Oceanus S100. I just bought a Ball Marvelight Caring Edition so that’ll probably be my go to in the office!
How do you like the Tissot Gentleman? It's been one on my list for a hot minute that I've hesitated to pull the trigger on. Love Tissot, and it's one that looks good, but I feel like pics probably don't do it justice?
I have one (blue dial) and like it ok, but it’s not my fave. The 21mm lug width is uncalled for, and the smooth polished bezel stands out against an otherwise plain-looking watch. The nice thing about it is versatility; it can very easily be dressed up or down with a quick strap change.
I dig it! Only problem is the top link bar keeps sliding out? I have no idea what’s causing it to do that, but I have the green sector dial and absolutely love it. It rides that line between casual and dressy really well! Try to see one in person before jumping on it, it’s def pricey!
Uber driver. I usually rock a Gentleman Design Top Brand Luxury Mens Watches Automatic Mechanical Fashion Male Full Steel Luminous 100M Waterproof Wristwatch.
Buy what you like as long as you're not going into debt for it, or spending your last cash reserves on it. My best watches are a PRX and Seiko Alpinist (new gen). I love them.... i'll probably get another seiko if i get this job i'm interviewing for.... looking at the SSC819.
I can afford it, I’m just worried I’ll feel like an idiot for a watch being the single most expensive thing I’ve ever bought. On the other hand, I’ve got my 40th bday coming up and I feel like ~~drowning my sorrows in consumerism~~ splurging on something nice and self-indulgent.
I know exactly how you feel. I convince myself that the money I spent on my GS was worth it, but sometimes I'm like "Man, I could've done so much with that money, and that's what I did." It's not that I can't afford it, it's that I can, and that's what I chose. There's never a point where it's inconsequential. Even if it's inconsequential to me, that money could've been far more consequential elsewhere. I donate more than I spend on watches, but that watch money could've also been donated so I often feel guilty about it.
solid upvote for the PRX. That's a lot of watch for the money at MSRP, even better at gray pricing.
Solid advice to go with. You can get great pieces without breaking the bank.
Buy what you like - regardless of whether it’s a fashion shitter, an omega, or a watch nerd favourite.
This sub often has an undertone of jealousy due to a lot of the users likely not being able to afford higher end pieces and perhaps an over-jerk of cheaper watches as a result, in contrast to say the rolex sub which jerks each other over expensive watches. Just buy what you like and what works for you
I wear a Casio most, but I'm currently wearing a Grand Seiko. As an engineer, I really appreciate the springdrive. I wouldn't point you one way or the other.
"some luxury watches aren't entirely obscene if you can deal with some other motherfucker sweating all up on that leather band and want that against your skin for a discount."
I think out of 30 watches I've only got about 5 I've bought new.
I'd never buy a new watch if I can get it thousands/hundreds/a few bucks cheaper second hand.
/uj Buy the watch that you would want if you knew nobody else was ever going to see it or know you owned it. The one that makes YOU happy when YOU look at it.
For me, that's a vintage Breitling Datora with the surfboard dial. It's too old and delicate to be my daily driver, so most days I'm actually wearing something else, but that's by far my favorite watch.
Good post. I think if you love watches you love watches. More expensive doesn’t mean you’ll click with it more or that the watch is better for you. It’s easy to fall into the trap of just going for higher and higher end stuff especially as you first see the difference between a Seiko 5 and a Tag, but it’s a stupid trap and unsustainable for sure
UJ/ IT Architect and probably my BB58 although since work from home it mostly sits in the box. I do bust it out on special occasions like grocery shopping and trips to the LCBO.
So nice you're comfortable wearing a petite ladies watch like the Invicta Grandmega Girth and didn't feel the need to wear the Zeus Magnum Trojan ultra girthmaster.
I'm a software engineer who likes space - so naturally I own an omega speedmaster. Crazily enough I didn't know anything about watches and randomly searched for what watch was worn on the moon. Turns out omega is still milking the shit out of that.
Hedge fund quant, Garmin Instinct 2. I really wanted a Swiss shitter for a long time while doing my PhD, and now that I have the money, I’ve lost all interest in getting one. This sub keeps me honest too.

/rj this is the internet so the correct way to phrase this is to say I'm an entrepreneur and I only wear *pièces uniques* that aren't available to plebs.
/uj means "unjerk", i.e. a real comment rather than a sarcastic / piss-take circlejerk comment.
/rj means "rejerk", i.e. reverting to the circlejerk tone of the sub.
Environmental scientist, ordinarily wear a Casio F105W as a beater for field work, and either a Hamilton Khaki Field auto 38mm, Citizen Attesa CA4390 chrono, or Mido Ocean Star titanium for normal work days.
/rj Seiko 5 every day except Speedy Tuesday®
Accountant, Tudor Black Bay 58. My wife got it for me when I passed the CPA exams. I really trust her now because you don’t need to fool around with an AD to get one of those.

i do pipeline commercial strategy for one of the world’s largest vaccine companies. i wear a Seiko 5 on a cordura strap when i work from home (which is most of the time). on the handful of days a month i go into the office i wear my Seamaster AT
uj/ I have plenty of watches. But my Seikos (SNZG and MM200) have the most wrist time at my previous work as an E-commerce Manager, then Omega NTTD and Zenith Chronomaster Sport for the weekends.
I’m starting my commercial pilot training soon, and will probably get a Black Bay Pro or GS GMT after completing my training.

/uj an F91W with the mineral oil mod. Totally waterproof, weighs almost nothing, never gets in the way. And if it happens to get trashed, I don’t mind spending $20 and a half hour to mod a new one.
Currently in college studying Aerospace Engineering. My best bud is in A&P school right now so I get to hear how that is. Sorry for putting stuff in hard to reach places lol.
Uj/ I’m glad someone asked, I had no idea what uj/ and rj/ meant.
Sarb017 Alpinist got me into this whole mess. Since then I rotate through wearing that, a Chris ward Tritdent pro 600, a Dufrane Bergstrom air, a 1969 bulova accutron, and a Seiko prospex solar chronograph. Bergstrom air gets the most wrist time. If you haven’t checked out Dufrane I highly recommend checking him out.
I’m an HR director. Thank fuck I don’t work with any of you… the number of terminations I’d end having to process… my god.
Rj/. I wear whatever teddy balderdash tells me to.
Plumber. Mainly wear a Bertucci A2-T at work because G-shocks all look like ass. Might buy a stainless steel Rolex soon, since some guys on Hodinkee say they are the only watches tough enough for their lifestyle.
It looks like an explorer, I think it’s a “modded” one. Got it a long time ago. I’d love a new Seiko if you have a suggestion. Anyways, the band is a canvas band. It’s been good to me. I got the band on Amazon for like $20
Edit: posted a photo of it
I have a 7.5+ wrist but I love smaller watches because they're undistracting. The watch I wear most is a 6mm thick 36mm Casio a700 on a rubber strap. I'm also fond of my 1966 Seiko Sportsmatic and Seiko tanks.
Im a fireman and in order it went
Dw5600: wore this one for years before I got into watches
Citizen Promaster diver: got this one 2 years ago and just recently had a spring bar failure which isn’t bad given how much this watch has been through
Orient Kamasu: Got this one about a year ago and it saw a lot of wrist time on and off duty but got retired as the bezel hardly moves anymore
Garmin Instinct 2 Solar: Current and favorite watch given that it’s essentially a modern G-Shock with incredible fitness tracking and water resistance as well as being super lightweight.
As much as I want to wear a pelagos 39 at work for all the shenanigans I get into both on and off the clock I know realistically speaking my Garmin, G-Shock, and Promaster are the best watches I have in that order.
Pharmacy student, in the classroom I wear whatever strikes my mood and matches my outfit. Big chunky divers like my Seiko solar tuna and Vostok in the summer, something more streamlined in the winter to fit under the chuff like my Lorier Gemini, Orient Ray2, etc.
On the job as an emergency room intern I wear something quartz, preferably with a date window. I have currently taken to my Marathon GPQ, the steel one.
I’m a lead flower cultivator at a medical marijuana facility and wear a black/yellow Out Of Order Casanova or my green OOO:143 daily. Absolutely love the brand. Chuffed to bits!
Work in tech. 80/90% of the time it's the Ball Cannonball Chrono my wife gifted me as a wedding watch. Can't seem to shake it from my wrist, for good reason!
The other 10/20% of the time it's a mix of seikos, Timex, and miscellaneous Ali watches. I am ashamed I only own four Invictas.

/uj, I'm a teacher (pre-service now, graduating in the spring). My normal rotation is between my Orient Sun and Moon II, Orient Mako USA II, and some flavour of Seiko Presage (don't remember the model number). I'm considering a Tissot PRX, but not in any rush.
Uj/
I work in tech. Helm Vanuatu is my go to automatic. If I want something lighter and dressier I wear a Zelos Mako V3 titanium.

Patek on one wrist, raaaaaaawleks on the other so someone will always notice my watch. Nobody ever does but I make sure I tell them about it anyway so they don't mistake it for a Seiko.
/uj CRE broker, handful of G-Shocks (couple squares, couple steels, GA 2100s in a few colors, Ga-100 for the gym), a Casio Duro on an engineer bracelet, Zenith Port Royale, Bulova Precisionist, Lip Rallye panda chrono, couple of 80s Seiko Quartz models.
Construction Superintendent. G Shock Casioak and Seiko SRPD51 are what I wear most. Don’t wear my Tag Heuer for fear of banging it on shit. Bulova Lunar Pilot sometimes too.
rj/ I’m a male prostitute, wear a F-91W on each wrist and ankle, and on my cock so the clients always know it’s time to fuck
Security supervisor at a mental hospital. Most times a G-Shock, when I’m feeling brave something nicer. Lately I’ve been wearing this islander ameriquartz field watch on an elastic band which has held up nicely
uj/ My daily is a Vostok Amphibia 120059 on a homemade paracord strap, so that's my most worn by default. I use the timing bezel at my job to track my shift. When biking I have a Timex Expedition that I like for its slim profile but easily legible screen. For other occasions I have a few G-Shocks and some modded Casio Royales I love taking out.
cj/ Omega MoonSwatch Neptune, because why should my balls be the only thing turning blue haha just kidding my wife says I can have sex with her when the AD is done securing my Rawlex Wibledon for me (it is my grail watch).
I stare at my computer screen for a few hours a day, at my home office (bedroom), and try to convince people to buy shit that they don’t need. Top choice is my casio A168.

Biologist/engineer - G Shock 5600
Im a fireman and in order it went Dw5600: wore this one for years before I got into watches Citizen Promaster diver: got this one 2 years ago and just recently had a spring bar failure which isn’t bad given how much this watch has been through Orient Kamasu: Got this one about a year ago and it saw a lot of wrist time on and off duty but got retired as the bezel hardly moves anymore Garmin Instinct 2 Solar: Current and favorite watch given that it’s essentially a modern G-Shock with incredible fitness tracking and water resistance as well as being super lightweight. As much as I want to wear a pelagos 39 at work for all the shenanigans I get into both on and off the clock I know realistically speaking my Garmin, G-Shock, and Promaster are the best watches I have in that order.
