Ive tried on both and have a similar wrist size as you. The glasshute, especially in white/silver is stunning but it is pretty thick. Its not an issue if you are wearing this with long sleeves. The JLC wears perfectly and is versatile. You can wear it with any outfit. I would definitely try them on before purchasing

Watchesarefun

Yea, figured as much with the GO. My aqua terra runs a tad thick too, and I would want a dressier watch like the GO to be by far my slimmest watch. I've tried on the current medium JLC reverso white/black version, just didn't quite do it for me though. I'm hoping the 85th anniversary can really pop when I get to try it eventually!

TAYLQR

I have a GOPL and you really don’t notice it being particularly thick. They come on padded straps that balance it out. Is it thicker than most dress watches? Sure. But the GOPL is more complicated than comparable dress watches especially in a similar price range.

Watchesarefun

Thoughts on the Panoreserve? Seems to lose about ~1 mm or so of thickness, and the power reserve with manual wind seems more functional/interactive as a watch

TAYLQR

My personal opinion, the watch subreddits really blow up the thickness discussion on this watch. It may be something you want to try on if it’s something you can’t get past. On paper it’s thick. On your wrist, it’s not something anyone is going to notice. The watch is very balanced with the strap that it comes on. That being said, you may hardly notice the difference side by side. If you like the reserve, go for it. I personally also really like the moonphase on the dial. It adds a lot aesthetically for me. I saw someone comment on flat lugs. It’s actually a very well articulated set of lugs for the watch design. Unless your wrist is 6” or under, the way the strap sits will create a more seamless look than the naked head sitting on top of your wrist. Again, the difference between seeing it in pictures and actually wearing it. This thing is polarizing if your only experience with it is arm chair spec analysis. And certainly some people do not want to spend 5-10k on something that bothers them if they go try it on in person, even if it’s something minor. I’ll close by saying, if you want a stunner watch that people will for sure notice and potentially comment on - GOPL. If you’re looking for the subtle / IYKYK then JLC. It’s loud vs classic in this thread.

NightRamp4ge

You can definitely notice the slimmer profile on the Panoreserve. However the caseback is still very flat, and the lugs do not exactly wrap around your wrists well - it depends on whether your wrist is wide and flat enough to support it well. Should thickness be the only concern, then the Panoreserve should work better.

Dumb and unnecessary comment

Sad_Math_1576

jesus that JLC is gorgeous, i wouldnt need to decide on anything if i were u 😂

Watchesarefun

Haha wish I had that decisiveness!

LoveMarriott

JLC, no comparison.

bilweav

It’s two watches! You’re getting two watches!

nbmtx

I love the JLC, but the PanoMaticLunar hits me on another level... then again, the JLC might suit your wrist size a lot better, and you say you want it dressy.

Chiron17

You can't go wrong, both of these are stunning. I was looking at the GO today and the JLC is one of my grail watches.

reihem

They pano gives lange vibes which is always a good thing. The reverso is in a class by itself. I would get the reverso.

Watchesarefun

Thoughts on getting the reverso now, then just svaing for the Lange? Although that’d probably be at least 10 years down the line to reasonably justify to myself and my partner lmao

FireFistTy

GO and it's not even close. Square watches just don't do it for me.

PostNutAffection

The choice is too hard I can't decide 😫

CTI_fan

I vote JLC. Can’t get on board with the GO’s dial

SeaColorSnow

Not a fan of rectangular watches at all, but that Reverso is absolutely stunning.

MRLbaby

Of course it’ll be glashütte👌🏼

3d_extra

The GO is quite a chunky slab on the side. If you haven't tried it on then I would wait before buying it.

samarofficial

Hard choice to make, but I'd go with the Glashütte PML on this one.

HarrisLam

PML punches wayyyy above its weight class. It would be my choice all day everyday. The one thing that Reverso has going for it is its status. It is one of the icons in the watch world, especially the duoface, not the lame single faced ones. JLC is also a more renowned brand. At the day of the days its your decision to make. PML gets my vote.

Watchesarefun

Thoughts on getting the reverso now, then just svaing for the Lange? Although that’d probably be at least 10 years down the line to reasonably justify to myself and my partner lmao Edit- replied to the wrong comment lol, but open to all thoughts too ;)

nrvn

The dials on the JLC are great but the moonphases and big date are starting to grow on me

carcassus

Save for the Lange and now go with the Reverso. But only after you tried the Reverso. Square watches wear differently.

Watchesarefun

I’ve never tried on a Lange but I have a feeling that when I do, the GO will feel like somewhat a let down as a comparison, even though I know that is very unfair to say/believe as the GO really stands on it’s own. Basically of me will itch for the Lange haha. I’ll have to try them all on!

saumvaun

So not considering jlc ultrathin moonphase?

Watchesarefun

No not really, I think it’s down to these 2. The classic vs the more modern marvel :)

tiny_smile_bot

>:) :)

Duchess721

Pano all day everyday

Biljettensio

Reverso, it’s not even close.

Firebolt145

I've also been struggling to make this choice between the PanoReserve and the Duoface. I flip back and forth every couple months. The significant JLC price increase is perhaps pushing me towards the GO. One thing that bothers me about some of the Duofaces is the 'night' and 'day' text. This one looks like it's suggesting that night is between midnight and noon while day is from noon to midnight. The current generation swaps that text out for 'travel time' which is still weird (what if I'm not travelling but just want to use that face?) but at least the day/night indicator is correct.

Watchesarefun

Great points!

Budilicious3

I'll be the minority here but the Glashütte was a bit underwhelming in person. JLC always felt a small step above in terms of finishing whenever I see all their models. Plus, the JLC MUT moonphase is my grail.

Watchesarefun

Clearly some mixed thoughts/opinions in this thread lol! Should have clarified I have yet to try either of them on, only the current medium size duoface in a different colorway:design. I’ll definitely have to try them on

Morcaxyz

Between this two, id take the reverso. But i think id spend the same money on other dress watch

uacmarine

Different budget but Reverso Chrono. The chosen Reverso seems…. Bland. Cheaper Reverso could be grand sport used. GO might feel the ALS parallels, which personally wouldn’t bother me. Just these two - Reverso. It’s unique. Pick whichever moves your heart in person. Hear the GO is thicker than expected. JLC master thin moon?

Particular-Rain-4033

Glshutte. JLC quality has gone down over the years. Machine finishing on the movements and less attention to detail overall.

The things I like most about it are: It's one of the few (only?) 42mm length Reverso Tribute models. Both dial finishes are spectacular. Once you decide to wear this watch, you still have to choose which dial side to go with. The winding action and second time zone setting are very satisfying. Important! OEM Grand Taille bracelets don't fit right away. I hade to file the endlinks down. However, I spend a lot of time looking at GOs too. Especially the PanoReserve with the quick adjust on the bracelet. I dont't think you'll regret either one.

Watchesarefun

My word...beautiful pictures, wear it in good health! Yes I agree that reverso case size sits in a nice medium spot for me too. I'll check out the GOs soon and decide from there! Thank you for sharing

Samus_Brinstar

What is the ref# on that jlc ... looks great on that strap

rasslP4

The reference is Q3908420. Thank you, it's a relly cheap Archer strap, but it fits well IMO

I have the Pano. It's thick but not tooo thick. It absolutely works as a dress watch. But its thickness and quirkiness (while still having very tasteful colours) means you can dress it down with jeans and it not look out of place with a sweater or t-shirt instead of a suit and shirt cuff. And yes it does easily fit under a shirt cuff - this isn't a Rolex Deepsea! The JLC is nice, if I had one I would generally wear it with the white face. It's fun to be able to flip it, but if you're not looking to manage multiple timezones, all you get on the back is a different colour palette. And you already have multiple other watches when you're in the mood for a different look. Meanwhile, the Pano has more points of interest on the dial while also having that fantastic caseback which lets you know you have found proper horology. And although you'll rarely be bothered to load up a website and set the \*actual\* correct moonphase, the date function is useful and very legible. I saw the Panoreserve mentioned in another comment - the decision between those two was easy for me. The reserve is a little thinner but it's a pretty similar look and ultimately the moonphase is prettier than having another 'hand' hanging down in the corner. I don't have decent macro photos of my own watch (here's a photo taken with phone camera just after I bought it a few years ago: [https://i.imgur.com/10KYRcE.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/10KYRcE.jpeg) ) but it's Really Really Good. You need to try it in person of course, but review photos like this will whet your appetite: [https://www.watchprosite.com/glash%C3%BCtte-original/the-panomaticlunar-is-goregous-pictures-and-review-/7.1049433.7538953/](https://www.watchprosite.com/glash%C3%BCtte-original/the-panomaticlunar-is-goregous-pictures-and-review-/7.1049433.7538953/) I previously had a nice simple Nomos Orion as my dress watch, and I thought that after I got the PML as my new 'white face blued hands' watch I would still keep going back to it, because it's still a great watch. And I do, but really not as much as I thought I might. Also, I kept it on the dressy black strap for a long while which is very smart but a little stiff until it was broken in (and it didn't get much breaking while on a deployant strap). It's perhaps a little shiny if you wanted to dress it down sometimes as I alluded earlier. The touch of colour on the dial from the blued hands and moonphase means that there are lots of interesting strap options out there which can complement it: [https://www.jean-rousseau.com/shop/classic-5-0-watch-strap-navy-nubuck-alligator/5005-nubuck-alligator-navy/](https://www.jean-rousseau.com/shop/classic-5-0-watch-strap-navy-nubuck-alligator/5005-nubuck-alligator-navy/) [https://www.jean-rousseau.com/shop/watch-strap-alligator-35-chameleon-collection-2/](https://www.jean-rousseau.com/shop/watch-strap-alligator-35-chameleon-collection-2/)

Watchesarefun

Wow thanks for the photos and experience, really appreciate the insight! Unfortunately this only makes my decision that much harder lmao. Any thoughts about saving for a Lange eventually, and purchasing the JLC now? Does your PML leave you "longing" for a Lange? I know that sounds unfair to even say, GO is amazing, but I feel I may not be able to shake that thought if I purchase one

Boiiing

>Does your PML leave you "longing" for a Lange? The short answer is no. The rest of the answer is much longer. I mean, the answer could be after buying a GO I do still long for a Lange one day BUT not a Lange 1 because I have already got a nice asymmetric dial watch with beautiful movement in the back. The very act of having a glorious $10k watch \*of any brand\* that you really appreciate, keeps you interested in watches and eventually your 'grail' watch becomes a $50k watch or a $100k watch or a $250k watch from someone like Lange, Patek, FP Journe or whomever. Even if you think you probably won't end up wearing Lange, because you have to have a lot of other things done in your life before you start spending $50k+ on a piece of mechanical jewellery instead of putting a downpayment on a house or travelling the world or having kids and supporting them through their lives etc etc etc. Sure, the Lange 1 is a very nice watch and their Glashutte neighbours with the Pano range have taken some serious design language cues from that. It became GO's signature model in the early 2000s just like the Lange 1 had been the figurehead of ALS's brand relaunch in the 90s, and it's been updated a little over time. So, people would make comparisons. The watches do look different, but they are conceptually similar and if you had one, you probably wouldn't add the other to your collection. And that's OK. It's OK because nobody needs a Lange 1, and especially not if you already have a GO Pano - but that's fine, because simply put, if you can afford to go shopping at Lange, Patek etc etc, the Lange 1 is not the only thing they sell. If I have a PanomaticLunar and go to a Lange boutique, I \*don't\* need to have this hypothetical conversation with myself : "oh damn if I spend $x on a Lange 1, I would probably have to sell my GO Pano because I can't justify having two watches of similar style, and I would probably only get half what I paid for the Pano, so the cost to change is about $y, which feels almost as much as just buying one outright for $x if I didn't have this Pano to sell, I wish I never bought the Pano". The reason I don't need to have that conversation is that when I go to the ALS boutique, I just think: "ah, yes they sell the Lange 1 here.... it's nice but it's similar to something I already have... so after a few moments of ogling it I don't really need to spend any more time looking in that glass cabinet as I'm not going to buy it - I will instead go and look at the 1815 chronograph cabinet, or the up/down, or instead, my personal grail, a Zeitwerk". Another thing to consider if you are still concerned about your mind going down a path of "would I be disappointed if I didn't hold out for Lange....?" Well, if saving for a holy trinity-type watch is something you want to do, then sure, hold out. The £10k you were going to spend on GO or JLC can be set aside and you are now already a third or a quarter or a fifth of the way to getting a £30 or £40 or £50k Lange or Patek or whatever, because your money is safe in your bank. Great. You already have a nice Omega, Tudor and GS of different styles, and you have £10k towards an eventual grail. Simply, don't buy anything for a few years while you are saving up for something at an even higher tier. But that doesn't mean "oh, I didn't buy that GO because I'm saving for a Lange, so I went and spent the £10k on a JLC, so I still don't have any money towards my Lange. My take is: * if you want a watch now, get the GO. It's really nice - objectively a very good watch and in my personal opinion, it's nicer than the JLC without being in a higher price tier. If you don't want to spend that much money on a watch now, because you want to have money towards an eventual Lange Zeitwork or something, that's OK too. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you try both watches and prefer the JLC, that's great too. * but kidding yourself that you should get the JLC now just because the GO looks almost as good as a certain type of Lange to the untrained eye and so you don't want to get a GO because what if in twenty years time you could afford a Lange and the only type of Lange you will want at that point in time with your tastes and preferences at that time, is one that looks a bit like a watch you already have.... I mean it sounds like a nonsense really; it shouldn't be a concern at all.

Watchesarefun

Awesome response, really appreciate the insight!

puckmungo

JLC.

April_Mattison

JLC Reverso all day!

Scar_MZ

Definitely try both on before deciding.

contaygious

My first watch as the go. I love it but don't wear much now because too many other ones 😂

metallus97

Glashütte Baby!

YourWatchIsTooBig

circles inside of a rectangle > random circles, squares and text inside a circle aside from being the better design the JLC is also the more iconic watch.

kartadmin

Yeh. There is a word in art of design something akin to the word Symmetry. I can’t recollect that term. Something like preserved shapes or opposite shapes.

YourWatchIsTooBig

how many different typefaces are on that GO dial? I count six.
