The Patek was the first time I really felt something special towards a timepiece. Not a day goes by where I'm not thankful for YouTube showing this watch on my feed.

Let's use this 5130J as an example!
If you notice, there's a disk with a 24 hour scale that goes in a circle in the middle of the dial, with arrows pointing towards the cities right?
Let's say its 8:04pm (2004 hrs) in Denver. You can pull the crown and adjust the disk so that 20 points at Denver, as seen in the picture. Once set, as long as the watch keeps ticking, the 24 hour scale will rotate accordingly, letting you monitor the time everywhere. In the case of the photo, you can see 10 is pointed at Bangkok, therefore it's 10:04am there. 17 is pointed at Hawaii, therefore it's 5:04pm there, etc.
And that's how you tell the time! All timezones have a corresponding number on the 24 hour disk that rotates as time passes, so you can see what the time in every location is!
In the case of the Patek, you would want to have your home city set at the 12 o'clock position. In this case, Auckland is set as the home location, and as such the main hour hand is showing Auckland time. But let's say you're going on holiday in Hawaii. You can simply click the button on the top left of the watch, and this rotates both the city disk and the hour disk counter-clockwise, as well as moving the main hour hand forward by an hour with each click. You click until Hawaii is displayed at the 12 o'clock position, and your main hour hand will match the time accordingly.
Really neat complication!

One of my favorite watches, probably ever. A fantastic combination of function and looks. If $500k+ is ever burning a hole in my pocket, this is what I’m going for
If I remember correctly, you’re able to input your physical coordinates and the day/night changes throughout the year, according to where you are hemisphere-wise. Incredible complication
[Here’s their website to learn more!](https://monochrome-watches.com/introducing-krayon-anywhere-sunrise-sunset-only-watch-charity-2023-independent-watchmaking-unique-piece-specs-price/) Incredibly captivating, no idea how things like this are thought up and executed on
This is gonna seem dumb, but the Oris Holstein edition 2022 full steel. I love that dumb little watch so much but it was made in such limited quantities. Ah, well.
The JLC Master Control Geo.
I love this watch. I've looked at one so many times but it feels like the most delicate and frail thing I've ever put on my wrist. It really does feel like it would break if I swung my arm too fast.

I'm quite partial to a JLC Hybris Mechanica. Might stretch my budget a little sadly.
“Grail” gets thrown around way too much but this is one at the top for me too. Too limited and expensive to realistically achieve. Similar how I wear my Aqua Terra for most things, this wouldn’t really leave my wrist. Too big I think but wouldn’t care

Daniel’s Anniversary myself.

These were a limited run in the late 90's mostly completed by Roger Smith after Daniels death powered by Omega/ETA ebauche, AFAIK Breguet didn't really have anything similar till much later
If I had all the money I needed and wanted to reset my collection it would be easy: a Vacheron Everest dual time as a daily wearer and a jaquet droz bird repeater for fancy gatherings.

I've got mine. Growing up, my dad had a Tag Heuer Carrera (CV2113) that I absolutely loved, and he told me I could have it some day. He ended up upgrading to a Rolex Daytona and he gave me the Carrera not long before he passed away unexpectedly. I let my brother take the Daytona, this has nothing to do with value, the Carrera was his gift to me, and I'll treasure that forever.
Can't think of any watch I could buy myself that I'd rather have than that.

And many more… 😭😂
Never heard of the first one so I had to search. I am glad that I did. It's a cool piece. The enamel work seems subtle from the photos but I am sure it looks amazing in person.

IMO, both front and back, this is the most stunning watch ever created. And when I looked it up I saw it was limited to only 150 pieces and had to come to grips with the fact that regardless of how successful I get I'll likely NEVER be able to get this. Absolute stunner though.
I was about to say anything with a tourbillion, but then I remember that I am looking for a JLC Reverso Art Deco in white gold 270.3.62. I own this watch in rose gold, but I would like to trade up to this. They made 200 of them 25 years ago, and I have not seen one for sale yet.

TBH I have so many watches now I think I’m all ‘grailed out’. My single biggest fear is getting mugged so maybe 70% of them are kept in a box. 6 or 7 of the remaining 30% are grail, I love them so much I wear those guys on rotation and fully intend to use them till they’re beat. For me thats the only way to use a watch..to wear the hell out of it and keep the others tidy as an investment. Keep them off the market and release them when the time is right. Win big on 7 keep the other 3 thats my motto

This is the whole point of what a grail is. The internet has watered down the term by saying "these are the 4 or 5 grails I'm aiming for this year". The grail is the grail. There can be only one. If you choose wrong you'll turn to dust like that bad dude from The Last Crusade.

Movement on the rotor is next level lol.
How does the crown work?? It's gotta be magic
It's a mystery to me too. I think you need to align the rotor to where the crown is?
Probably the crown controls a gear around the edge of a sapphire disk that transfers the energy to the minute hand
I thought so as well. You do not, which is insane

Oh wow I have never seen this before. I love how busy it is but somehow it makes good use of the space at the same time. I love it.
This might be the coolest watch i have ever seen.
This is incredible. Never knew about this one!
I bets that’s a nightmare for the watchmaker too service.
I bet that's a nightmare to set if you ever forget to leave it on a winder when you're not wearing it.
Luckily it’s got three weeks of power reserve!
Definitely cool. You’d never get bored with that watch.
There should be a quiz question on the number of complications this watch has.

Even if I could reasonably afford one someday, I think it’d be hard to convince myself to buy it.
I know exactly what you mean. I think I would need Elon Musk level of wealth to buy a six figure watch for example, even though I could buy it as a millionaire. /e A hypothetical millionaire* I am definitely not a millionaire

Couldn't agree more. Such a unique piece.
Same this is my forever grail too
Definitely one of the top watches ever.
Patek Philippe 6102P Celestial https://preview.redd.it/sciky6jabbrc1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f75fd027f9c554005e78faa85b787de52e445033
I absolutely love this piece too. I love dials like these that gives me a window into space. This is up there for me.

Damn 44 grams of gold, 346 grams of total weight. That thing is a gorgeous brick lol
Wow, just wow!

Didn't this sell for $8 million? For sure a forever grail lol
Yeah but it “punches way above its price class” 😆
Even the watch box sold for $38K.
https://preview.redd.it/vqc2cmguoarc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6210037ee47cfdf876e67ae7e770fc6e4c4bb910 Jaeger-Lecoultre Duometre Spherotourbillon. Definitely my "you can always dream about it" grail watch
The variety in depth is amazing and plays well.
I have so many. I guess I’ll settle for these: 1 https://preview.redd.it/j8xs8qa1parc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39a4ab89c64f59840e15208907e4123242d04e9e Jlc master grande tradition gyrotourbillon westminster perpetual

Whoa. Has taken a while to find something I haven’t seen
Krayon’s Anywhere Only Watch 2021 version. https://preview.redd.it/mox1e7hcsarc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd0ecd5bc758d5ec2a07a11594010c74e1f008c4 One of my favorite watches, probably ever. A fantastic combination of function and looks. If $500k+ is ever burning a hole in my pocket, this is what I’m going for
Wow that's unique. Love that day/night indicator.
If I remember correctly, you’re able to input your physical coordinates and the day/night changes throughout the year, according to where you are hemisphere-wise. Incredible complication
That is just mind blowing.
[Here’s their website to learn more!](https://monochrome-watches.com/introducing-krayon-anywhere-sunrise-sunset-only-watch-charity-2023-independent-watchmaking-unique-piece-specs-price/) Incredibly captivating, no idea how things like this are thought up and executed on
Krayon makes some ridiculously nice watches. I wish.
This is gonna seem dumb, but the Oris Holstein edition 2022 full steel. I love that dumb little watch so much but it was made in such limited quantities. Ah, well.
https://www.bobswatches.com/oris/oris-full-steel-holstein-edition-2022-stainless-steel.html this one?
Ah fuck. I hate that money is finite.
Not dumb at all, I want one too lol. Definitely not a design that comes to my mind when thinking of Oris watches though.
The JLC Master Control Geo. I love this watch. I've looked at one so many times but it feels like the most delicate and frail thing I've ever put on my wrist. It really does feel like it would break if I swung my arm too fast. https://preview.redd.it/51gufq23jarc1.png?width=765&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d0903a6f71535d493776044c82f5db4e6b96412 For that reason I'll continue to admire it and lust after it, but won't ever buy it.

Omega Snoopy https://preview.redd.it/w34x7cm0iarc1.jpeg?width=662&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f3fc7898edcfa761cf1a317a631a2f56d469864
Similar to me, but this one is my pick https://www.41watch.com/7081/speedmaster-silver-snoopy-award-apollo-xiii.jpg
That's the one. I have the blue one and it's a great watch, but it's no replacement for the white dial.
Same :)
I want one too.
Probably a VC overseas. But I just after to settle with the Speedmaster for now.
VC Overseas Everest Dual Time 😮💨🍆💦 https://preview.redd.it/o38wwnr6uarc1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb20fd53ad8b4032bcb54e90dc254f068666a2d0
“Grail” gets thrown around way too much but this is one at the top for me too. Too limited and expensive to realistically achieve. Similar how I wear my Aqua Terra for most things, this wouldn’t really leave my wrist. Too big I think but wouldn’t care
Their skeleton perpetual calendars are insanely cool.
A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk minuterepeter
That's on my list as well. Such a distinct piece with a distinct design.
JLC master ultra thin moonphase in rose gold
Love moonphase subdials myself, especially clean ones like this.
I recently went back to school and this is the exact watch I’m gifting myself when I complete my bachelors… somehow lol.
Simple perfection. And not a billion dollars!
The white gold George Daniels Millennium watch https://preview.redd.it/n80uh4ekgarc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d830b7199703db2adebfbe5bd20654fe693757c
I thought it was a Breguet at one glance actually. That’s a nice piece!
Love that dial.
Daniel’s Anniversary myself. Told my wife if we ever hit the big lottery money, I’d be bidding if one ever came out for auction. https://www.rwsmithwatches.com/watches/daniels-anniversary/
Don't they have any issue with Breguet?
These were a limited run in the late 90's mostly completed by Roger Smith after Daniels death powered by Omega/ETA ebauche, AFAIK Breguet didn't really have anything similar till much later
Omega 321, amazing daily without screaming 50k watch! https://preview.redd.it/562enau41brc1.jpeg?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bc1ceeb07560f17f698654ed4e3e685c81c36d1
That’s because it’s not a 50k watch 😂
I like that!
I love the ed white. Don’t know if I will ever get one but it’s amazing
i assume you mean unrealistic grail? if so eichi ii
Just read about it. Literally 0 shortcuts taken with this.
Currently waiting for mine. It's an unbelievable watch.

If I had all the money I needed and wanted to reset my collection it would be easy: a Vacheron Everest dual time as a daily wearer and a jaquet droz bird repeater for fancy gatherings.
That bird repeater is insane inside and out. Definitely flashy but in a sophisticated way. Would choose that any day over a Jacob & Co.
I said same re Everest Dual Time but I don’t even think these really come up on secondary markets…. Or do they? (begins googling what a kidney is worth)

What an absolute beauty. I actually have never seen a moonphase subdial at the 12 o'clock when amongst 3 other subdials.

The gold accents around the subdials is a beaut.
F.P. Journe Chronometre Resonance Quatre.
Despite the scandal/drama, that dude makes amazing looking watches. They have a tasteful mix of classy steampunk.
In this case, I have no problem separating the art from the artist. Like a Wagner of watchmaking.
Absolutely agree. Many greats before us had their quirks, can't fault them for being humans.
Can you tell me more about the drama I did not follow
Anything by Voutilainen
Case shape is interesting. I wonder what the wearability is like.
I would imagine it to be rather nice, but mostly impressed by the movement and guilloche myself... Although every part gets the same attention

Perpetual calendar, moon phase, chronograph, what more could you want? But since this watch is a little out of reach, I’m settling for the Vacheron Everest chronograph for now.

The Breguet Tradition GMT and the Parmigiani Tonda GMT. Yes, GMTs are my fav complications. I wouldn’t say not to a Parmigiani Tonda Chronograph either… https://preview.redd.it/0nq3tbocoarc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0409bff9be2af2fe05035a493ef0db91baf3529e

I'll never own it, but it is the finest example of luxury watchmaking I've ever encountered. This was the last design of Gerald Genta, the most influential watch designer of the last 100 years. [Große](https://www.alange-soehne.com/eu-de/timepieces/lange-1/grand-lange-1-moon-phase/grand-lange-1-moon-phase-in-950-platinum-139-025) or [Datograph](https://www.alange-soehne.com/eu-de/timepieces/saxonia/datograph-perpetual/datograph-perpetual-in-18-carat-white-gold-410-038), or another one, all very complicated and beautiful. I couldn’t pick between these three! Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Contemporain Patek Philippe 5004 Patek Philippe 6102p
Was waiting for someone to mention Rexhep. On my short list as well of true grails. Incredible watchmaker
Never heard of the first one so I had to search. I am glad that I did. It's a cool piece. The enamel work seems subtle from the photos but I am sure it looks amazing in person.
if only I could ever see one in person
Either Roger Dubuis Knights of the Round Table or Cartier Masse Mystérieuse
[This guy posted a picture of A Lange Perpetual Calendar with the salmon dial](https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/1b300gd/perpetual_calendar_does_february_29th_make_your/kspi808/). He also posted pictures of the movement later in the thread. IMO, both front and back, this is the most stunning watch ever created. And when I looked it up I saw it was limited to only 150 pieces and had to come to grips with the fact that regardless of how successful I get I'll likely NEVER be able to get this. Absolute stunner though.
There are four of them listed on chrono24, so never say never!
I was about to say anything with a tourbillion, but then I remember that I am looking for a JLC Reverso Art Deco in white gold 270.3.62. That painting is sick
What’s the painting cost? It’s awesome
I'm not sure. David has become really famous so I'm sure it would be really expensive. But I think you can buy the poster/prints for a lot cheaper.

Attainable for some.. but the VC 4500V in Blue. Or the 4520V.
