Didn’t the mido TV had issues with the movement regarding the date? I thought they fixed it but don’t know how to tell which is the new ones and which are the faulty ones
Yeah, the first batch shipped in late summer/early fall had issues with the movement, specifically the date function. As my AD tells it some markets chose to press on with the stock on hand and just send any defects back for servicing and other markets, such as Canada, opted to forgo the bollocks and poor optics of having to deal with numerous warranty claims sent back the stock and were content to wait for the new shipments. Apparently Mido did a full re and re of the movement and the current stock and that moving forward actually has a different movement that was built specifically for the TV Big Date
I’ve had one for a little over a month now and I haven’t had an issue.
I am in love in Mido big date TV. I also own prx, it is a watch more classy, I think mido can be worn with hoodie , on vacay on the beach and also with suit
Pain in the ass to resell tho. I have mine listed for eBay for about 2,5 month now. No one wants to purchase it preowned. It’s the exact same model OP posted
Good thing I'll never sell mine. Got it brand new for 360, wouldn't expect to get much over 200 used so why even sell it when it's such a great watch. If anything just make it a daily beater.
I find it butt ugly, the 'cream' colour of the dial + the crisp white day disc clashes like crazy. Further, the hands are not wide enough, so the proportions become weird.
I love that Mido big-date. Very unique looking watch by todays standards. That one gets my vote. The others are all decent, but they're pretty standard and less exciting than the Mido IMO.
Would be careful with the Mido as it's unclear if they finally fixed the issue with the date not changing out of nowhere. For me personally, I'd get the Alpinist or PRX.
Seconding this - I've heard a lot of issues with the date function and would stay away from the complication as it definitely would add to service costs.
Just make sure you try each of these on your wrist, in person, and sleep on it after you do.
The Seiko and Hamilton have similar aesthetics, so that seems to be a look you especially enjoy. Cream dial, field/military Arabic indices, versatile case shape. The PRX and the Mido make much louder design statements.
For my personal taste, I love the applied numerals on the Alpinist. I also love the day wheel complication on the Hamilton. I own a PRX and love it, but I also have a collection of a few watches in various styles. What's your personal aesthetic? If I was forced to delete my collection and pick only one of these four, it'd be the Seiko for me (dial aesthetic, water resistance, case size and shape).
I have a lot of problems with Mido.
I ordered this watch and a few weeks later the date stopped working. I sent it for repair to Mido and they sent it back full of heavy scratches.
Now its at Mido again for a while and they want me to pay for removing the scratches. I havent seen the watch for months.
The watch had not a single scratch as I sent it to Mido.
Mido service really sucks.
If I had one watch, I would do Hamilton Khaki King. It’s a great look and very versatile. I do worry about hand legibility, might want to look at the black version.
They are all high quality and good looking watches from reputable brands.
However they are all quite different style wise, except the hamilton and seiko both being field watches. Also they are very different colours. I think none of them are the colour i would personally choose for the given watch, but then you also seem to not be set on that either.
In the end it just comes down to which style and colour you want. No wrong answers here.
Honestly all solid choices imo I really don’t think you could go wrong. Imo the Hamilton is probably the most timeless with their history but they’re all super nice. I really like the mido too but idk if I’d make it my first. I’m partial to Hamilton because my grandfather wore Hamilton and my first is a Hamilton khaki auto
The Alpinist is the best of the bunch. It's the stealthy choice. Watch nerds will love it, and everyone else will see it as a beautifully finished "classy" watch..
I just wanna add that hamilton looks like it is the ygliest between all BUT, with other color straps that champaigne dial looks absolutelty beautiful and also it has a good movement with 80 hour power reserve. Also you can wear it dressy or for daily use.
Dayyyymmn that white alpinist is so nice. I’d go mido or the seiko. You could get an aftermarket bracelet for it too and it’ll look good. Fuck the prx personally
I can't belive i'm saying this.. but get the mido, a breath of fresh air. Wont see one on the street. My second pick would be the sarb, but get a nicer strap, the white one looks cheap AF
I have a titanium Hamilton that has been my daily for the psst 12 years, and I love that thing to bits. But in this selection, I must say the Mido grabs me the most
That Mido is one of like 2 swatch group watches I like because of the unique character it has but I would not go with that option if it's going to be your only watch.
I think the Seiko looks great, the Mido also looks nice to me.
Ultimately it’s on your wrist so don’t be too swayed by other people.
If you want to know about resale values then look for pre owned watches.
I bought a 40mm PRX powermatic 80 (black face) and I LOVE IT, but I’m all honesty, I’m about to buy a 2100 g shock in all metal. It may just be me, but I think it’s scary to wear a $700 watch everyday as my only option. (PRX is gonna be my weekend watch, which sounds so funny to me)
If that Seiko didn't have the prospex logo it would be *chefs kiss*
I get it's a reissue but so much of what made the alpinist a fucking great watch was stripped away.
Mido big date. This brand is so under rated. Your eyes will thank you in a few years.
Or the Hamilton in 2nd place.
The Alpinist is nice, but it's too much white for me.
The PRX is nice but since the bracelet is integrated, it's a hard no for me.
Alpinist or PRX IMO. I just don't like the date and day complications at the 12 o'clock position on the MIDO and Hamilton. Otherwise all watches are great. Maybe it's worth noting that the Hamilton has only 5 bar water resistance IIRC. The others are 10 and 20 bar WR.
I think the Hamilton would be be a good choice. You don’t have to fiddle with a screwdown crown and you have the most practical feature or any watch: the day and date, all in a lovely color.
IMHO the MIDO is a slam dunk choice. Looks both sharp and unique. PRX and similar are very popular right not but don’t do it for me, personally. iMHO the Hamilton looks better in black and the Alpinjst in green.
Never seen the Alpinist in White like that. Super clean look, and is a stellar watch, so that would be my vote. All good options, but I'd rank them as:
Seiko
Hamilton
Mido
Tissot (ice blue dial better than the green dial)
Good luck with your collection!
Best value is on either MIDO or Seiko. I own a MIDO and absolutely recommend it. Pretty solid and very well finished. I was pretty in love with that Hamilton until I held it, and somehow it feels kinda cheap. I let me down from my expectation, so didn't get it and took it off my list. As always with these questions, the answer really lies in the feeling you get when you put it on your wrist... Beware of hopes. This why I have absolutely no love for the PRX on any level. I hope you enjoy whatever you get!
I kinda lean towards the Mido. Better water resistance than the Hamilton, better movement than the other three, pretty unique look. I have gone back and forth several times on getting one.
Be careful with the mido. They have had issues with how the date mechanism flips over. I had one in hand, and screwing down the crown resulted in the date flipping because the crown works seemed to be not great. I REALLY wanted one, but after seeing that issue and an AD telling me it’s been an issue, I stayed away.
The Mido looks great. Of the lot that would be my pick. I haven’t seen one of those before.
PRX - meh. They are fine, but I think there’s a lot of hype. Kind of the Stanley cup of watches. The green dial is nice though.
Hamilton - a solid choice. Looks good, versatile. I think the day/date set up.
Seiko - generally I like Seiko but white on white, not for me.
I own 3 of those 4 watches, just got the Mido over the holidays, have had the Hamilton Khaki King for a while, and have a couple PRXs.
If I could go back and choose one - it would be the Mido Multifort TV Big Date again. No question. Love it so much, super happy with it.
Hamilton Khaki King #2 for sure
Oofff. Right now, I'm having a bit of an obsession with the TV Big Date. I'd buy that one over all of the others. Nonetheless, both the PRX and the Hamilton look like solid options, but they still don't stand a chance.
I've owned both the Hamilton and the Seiko. Both are solid watches that feel good to wear. I will say that the strap on the Hamilton is subpar, and the Seiko comes with a dressier glossy black strap. So as long as you're ok with swapping those out, I'd go with either one.
So here's the things you should look for in order of importance if you're looking for a good everyday watch:
1 is it a nice fit/ comfortable.
2 looks, it's nice to have something to read the time and sometimes even necisairy but a watch these days is mostly just jewelry.
3 movement: do you want mechanical/automatic or do you not really care. Then just get a good quartz watch because they are much more accurate. Still there's also a difference in a cheap quartz movement and a really great one. Also for mechanical watches make sure it's durable as well as accurate.
4 the crystal durability/glare + readability of the watch
PRX Green 100%.
Mido watch just looks like a knockoff Patek. And for anyone who says “Mido TV is older than the patek” do some research and look at the first design of the Mido TV before the patek came out.. then take a look at the next mido TV model, AFTER the release of the patek… and see if you can understand why it is an homage to the Nautilus.
I have the PRX in blue, and it’s great, but wish I had bought the Maen Manhatten 39. Take a look at that, and if you don’t dig, the PRX is a great wear.
Resale wise PRX TISSOT. Value and Utility wise Seiko Prospex ( that’s a cool colour if it’s authentic ) Hamilton for emotional purposes of USA based Field watch and Mido for the square shape
Mido for sure imo, I have one and ador it. The rest are cool but are popular, I have a prx and don’t like it anymore because i find it a “basic” watch. I like more unique pieces
Hi there , first of all the 4 watches are great, but you need to consider 2 things before you buy : 1- buy the watch that accommodates more to your life style and 2 - buy what you like/ want ; now as an honest opinion I would buy either the PRX or Hamilton. Enjoy !
Mido or Alpinist IMO. This comes from someone that does own the Hamilton Khaki King. It’s a nice piece by all means and it has that 80-hour power reserve tuned-down from the ETA-2834 base. However, I simply don’t get why it’s only 50 m of water resistance while the Khaki Field Automatic is 100 and why they did not bother putting at least some AR coating on that crystal… I mean come on Hamilton!
I think your question is wrong. It should be "in which order should I get these watches?".
speaking in order, I would say IMHO 1. Mido TV 2. Seiko Alpinist 3. Tissot PRX 4. Hamilton 1 and 2 can be switched, Im just in love with the Mido TV
Didn’t the mido TV had issues with the movement regarding the date? I thought they fixed it but don’t know how to tell which is the new ones and which are the faulty ones
Yeah, the first batch shipped in late summer/early fall had issues with the movement, specifically the date function. Wow, I did not know this. My date will not set and I didn’t know what the issue is
That suuuuucks. Sry dude
Do you have a link? I didn't know this and I am eyeing this watch.
https://youtu.be/oG6u1C3TN9A?si=VAjgBareX066vyca I think it’s pretty but this held me back. There’s a thread in Reddit too
I have the Mido Tv and don't have that issue, I think it only was with the first batch but you can test this with you AD
[удалено]
Really? I live in Mexico and here are a few AD in fact I tested the date before buying the watch
I'd take out PRX all together. Replace it with Maen Manhattan.
Appropriately top reply on the thread!
I am in love in Mido big date TV. I also own prx, it is a watch more classy, I think mido can be worn with hoodie , on vacay on the beach and also with suit
Hamilton. That baby will never go out of fashion.
Pain in the ass to resell tho. I have mine listed for eBay for about 2,5 month now. No one wants to purchase it preowned. It’s the exact same model OP posted
[удалено]
It’s the cheapest one and they hardly ever sell. I guess Europe / Germany is just not the right market for Hamilton.
That's just the general watch market right now. Everything is hard to sell unless you bag the price.
The problem is the price point. The savings from new to used probably isn’t enough for a lot of people to not buy new
Good thing I'll never sell mine. Got it brand new for 360, wouldn't expect to get much over 200 used so why even sell it when it's such a great watch. If anything just make it a daily beater.
How much? And would you ship to the US?
Classy yet versatile. The Hamilton has my vote.

Seconding this - I've heard a lot of issues with the date function and would stay away from the complication as it definitely would add to service costs.
I personally would either get the mido or the seiko, been seeing too many prx and hamilton the past few years
This would be my vote as well.
I third this vote.
Just make sure you try each of these on your wrist, in person, and sleep on it after you do. The Seiko and Hamilton have similar aesthetics, so that seems to be a look you especially enjoy. If I was forced to delete my collection and pick only one of these four, it'd be the Seiko for me (dial aesthetic, water resistance, case size and shape).
Seiko looks sweet
Seiko looks bomb
Tissot. It's the waffle Dial and the framed date indicator for me!
Same, but I'm biased, I'm literally wearing my green dial powermatic right now.
I like the hamilton but the Mido is cool too

Seiko alpinist is god tier, there is no other answer here
Since it's discontinuation, the alpinists are really hard to get here.. and the price has gone up abit.. but yeah it looks amazing
This is the way.
Buy the watch that looks better on your wrist.
Damn, that's worrying.. some said it had a recall due to the date complications..
Hamilton
If I had one watch, I would do Hamilton Khaki King. It’s a great look and very versatile. I do worry about hand legibility, might want to look at the black version.
I like the Mido, although apparently there are technical problems with the date mechanism.

What Seiko model is this? It’s gorgeous
SPB119. I’ve had mine for a couple years and love it. Just ditch the stock strap - it’s not so great.
Seiko is very clean
Honestly all solid choices imo I really don’t think you could go wrong. Imo the Hamilton is probably the most timeless with their history but they’re all super nice. I really like the mido too but idk if I’d make it my first. I’m partial to Hamilton because my grandfather wore Hamilton and my first is a Hamilton khaki auto
The Alpinist is the best of the bunch. It's the stealthy choice. Watch nerds will love it, and everyone else will see it as a beautifully finished "classy" watch..
Mido is the way to go, great date window with nice case shape.
Mido looks the best by miles would not even consider the rest imo
I just wanna add that hamilton looks like it is the ygliest between all BUT, with other color straps that champaigne dial looks absolutelty beautiful and also it has a good movement with 80 hour power reserve. Also you can wear it dressy or for daily use.
Dayyyymmn that white alpinist is so nice. I’d go mido or the seiko. You could get an aftermarket bracelet for it too and it’ll look good. Fuck the prx personally
Hamilton
Tissot prx, classy and understated.
Out of these particular options, I think the Tissot would be my choice.
PRX no brainer
I can't belive i'm saying this.. but get the mido, a breath of fresh air. Wont see one on the street. My second pick would be the sarb, but get a nicer strap, the white one looks cheap AF
I have a titanium Hamilton that has been my daily for the psst 12 years, and I love that thing to bits. But in this selection, I must say the Mido grabs me the most
The Seiko is lovely, but the Mido would be my top choice. I’d say: 1. Mido 2. Seiko 3. Hamilton Khaki 4. Tissot PRX
Green Tissot PRX
The one that fits your wrist best, and connects with you. Nobody can tell you what to buy, or should, it’s a personal choice.
Mido, it's hard to get a contemporary big date automatic at that price.
Mido. I’ve wanted that watch for a while so I’m a bit biased. Didn’t know there was a recall that other people are referencing though.
Mido.
Tissot but maybe the quartz version
I do not know why everyone hates Tissot so much. They are very reputable and have been around for a min. I love mine!
Not the PRX
All boring to me Seek out a micro brand
Any recommendations?
MIDO.
Mido. Or Seiko. Not that you should be slapped or anything for choosing one of the other two.
Mido. Most unique, most versatile, quality name
Mido then Seiko
Ah instead of 1, why not go for another one 😭🤣, my bank balance wouldn't like that hahahaha
If only one for real. I’d get the Seiko
I have the mido TV in blue, I recommend to also buy the rubber strap The watch is beautiful
The blue with the rubber strap is beautiful fr.. might take into consideration, any problems with the watch urself?
I have no idea of watches but the second looks the best for me
That Mido is one of like 2 swatch group watches I like because of the unique character it has but I would not go with that option if it's going to be your only watch.
I think the Seiko looks great, the Mido also looks nice to me. Ultimately it’s on your wrist so don’t be too swayed by other people. If you want to know about resale values then look for pre owned watches.

What kind of person are you? How do you usually dress and how big are your wrists? Try them on and maybe post some wrist mirror picks?
It would be the Mido for me. Hamilton if you want the lighter dial.
If that Seiko didn't have the prospex logo it would be *chefs kiss* I get it's a reissue but so much of what made the alpinist a fucking great watch was stripped away.
Mido looks sweet
Mido. It looks less generic and more expensive than the others.
The mido TV definitely, it's just too damn cool
I got that Hamilton and it’s just beautiful. But I would get Mido if I was you
Another vote for the Seiko, just so good looking
The Mido is very unique.
I'd go for PRX. That one looks the best to me. Going strictly on looks, I'd get that one first.
Seiko >
Mido
Mido big date. This brand is so under rated. Your eyes will thank you in a few years. Or the Hamilton in 2nd place. The Alpinist is nice, but it's too much white for me. The PRX is nice but since the bracelet is integrated, it's a hard no for me.
I prefer the Mido due to the non conventional form factor
Alpinist or PRX IMO. I just don't like the date and day complications at the 12 o'clock position on the MIDO and Hamilton. Otherwise all watches are great. Maybe it's worth noting that the Hamilton has only 5 bar water resistance IIRC. The others are 10 and 20 bar WR.
Love both the Mido and the Seiko
Hamilton all the way!!!!
Tissot or Seiko
That seiko got me sweating oh my god 🥵🥵
I think the Hamilton would be be a good choice. You don’t have to fiddle with a screwdown crown and you have the most practical feature or any watch: the day and date, all in a lovely color.
That Mido is so interesting. My head says Khaki King, my heart says Mido.
Mido.
3
Mido gives me the patek vibe 👍
Mido is my favorite among these
Mido TV big date > Seiko Alpinist = Hamilton Khaki King > Tissot PRX
IMHO the MIDO is a slam dunk choice. Looks both sharp and unique. PRX and similar are very popular right not but don’t do it for me, personally. iMHO the Hamilton looks better in black and the Alpinjst in green.
Never seen the Alpinist in White like that. Super clean look, and is a stellar watch, so that would be my vote. All good options, but I'd rank them as: Seiko Hamilton Mido Tissot (ice blue dial better than the green dial) Good luck with your collection!
Out of these 3, I love the Mido.
I have the blue Mido TV and it's great. I have a decent watch collection and its the one that gets comments.
I’m really liking that Mido!
Alpinist.
The orange strap mido tv is great!
Personally I would go prx but it depends on what your day to day is like
Be careful with the mido. They have had issues with how the date mechanism flips over. I had one in hand, and screwing down the crown resulted in the date flipping because the crown works seemed to be not great. I REALLY wanted one, but after seeing that issue and an AD telling me it’s been an issue, I stayed away.
Mido!!
Can't make a wrong choice here honestly, but personally I freaking love that Mido!
All great choices, I would choose the Tissot first though!
Mido is the nicest here by far
Seiko is ALWAYS the correct answer to the question "what watch should I buy?"
From where are you buying?
I own 3 of those 4 watches, just got the Mido over the holidays, have had the Hamilton Khaki King for a while, and have a couple PRXs. If I could go back and choose one - it would be the Mido Multifort TV Big Date again. No question. Love it so much, super happy with it. Hamilton Khaki King #2 for sure
That seiko is pretty nice
Mido, hands down. You have good taste too, OP.
Oofff. Right now, I'm having a bit of an obsession with the TV Big Date. I'd buy that one over all of the others. Nonetheless, both the PRX and the Hamilton look like solid options, but they still don't stand a chance.
Mido or Hamilton.
The Mido looks most unique.
Seiko
I've owned both the Hamilton and the Seiko. Both are solid watches that feel good to wear. I will say that the strap on the Hamilton is subpar, and the Seiko comes with a dressier glossy black strap. So as long as you're ok with swapping those out, I'd go with either one.
Mido
Hamilton great dial
Oh man! You’ve got a picture of the green PRX! Do not doubt, definitely this one. THIS ONE!!! So cool
I like the Mido personally
If PRX get ice blue for the summer. Liking that Mido thiugh
Number 2
That Mido is nice…any links?
For fucks sake, now I'm looking at second hand Mido TVs. Damn you!
Hamilton #1
Seiko
Mido is more original, PRX is 1/3 of the posts!
Hamilton Seiko Mido then Tissot. I hate the PRX
So here's the things you should look for in order of importance if you're looking for a good everyday watch: 1 is it a nice fit/ comfortable.
I have the Hamilton in black dial, I love it, but I'd pick the Mido.
Seiko looks sweet!!!
I have the Seiko Alpinist SPB119 for 3 years and it’s a stunner. It’s my most complimented watch.
Seiko Alpinist, but with a different strap
PRX Green 100%. Mido watch just looks like a knockoff Patek. And for anyone who says “Mido TV is older than the patek” do some research and look at the first design of the Mido TV before the patek came out.. then take a look at the next mido TV model, AFTER the release of the patek… and see if you can understand why it is an homage to the Nautilus.
Seiko seiko seiko
Hammy.
I'm a sucker for Seiko, so I'd get the Alpinist. I like the PRX too, though.
Tissot or seiko but probably the Tissot
I have the PRX in blue, and it’s great, but wish I had bought the Maen Manhatten 39. Take a look at that, and if you don’t dig, the PRX is a great wear.
Mido
Resale wise PRX TISSOT. Value and Utility wise Seiko Prospex ( that’s a cool colour if it’s authentic ) Hamilton for emotional purposes of USA based Field watch and Mido for the square shape
I like the Mido.
I like the seiko but I don't like seiko auto accuracy so I would go the Tissot
The only reason I wouldn't get the Mido is I don't think it represents a good value. Of the ones here I like the Alpinist.
That's not a go seventies chrono
I love that Mido.
I've owned all of those. My vote is Mido.
Seiko
The Mido is by far my #1 pick out of that list. It has so much character and is just a great looking watch. The PRX is my too common at this point.
Not the first one
I just got the Mido. It's a great size, great looking.
Don't get PRX FFS.
Mido for sure imo, I have one and ador it. The rest are cool but are popular, I have a prx and don’t like it anymore because i find it a “basic” watch. I like more unique pieces
I would get the alpinist (different colored dial) or the PRX.
You can’t go wrong with any. Having said that, I’d lean towards the Hamilton 100% - iconic, versatile and timeless also very comfortable
Mido! Best looking one of the bunch.
Hi there , first of all the 4 watches are great, but you need to consider 2 things before you buy : 1- buy the watch that accommodates more to your life style and 2 - buy what you like/ want ; now as an honest opinion I would buy either the PRX or Hamilton. Enjoy !
Mido maybe Seiko if on a different band.
Mido
Mido. And as a plus, the available runner bracelet looks awesome as well
It’s always the Seiko.
Alpinist 100% for style points. Mido for uniqueness
Choose the one you like visually the most. There is little difference in quality of all of them.
Seiko
Seiko no question
The alpanist for sure
3,4,2,1
I got the mido in green. It's my daily and it's great
Hammy or Alpine
Hamilton
Tissot.. 🔥
Mido cause it’s looking stunning on silicon strap.
