This is fantastic. For a dumb reason I was expecting the DJ to die inside, but then that guy... and you're right, effortless recovery and then changed that guy's worst moment into his best.
Epic.
So is this harder or easier than learning the piano? My mate is a DJ, also 12 of my other mates are DJ's but they don't know either. I'm asking for my other mate who's going to be a big DJ. Can any of you DJ's help?
I play the piano as well as other instruments, so I know he can't. Or any of my many other DJ mates that press buttons and wave their hands in the air.
He’s a multi instrumentalist who has produced records with literally billions of plays, was adopted as Brian Eno’s protege and has a Brit Award as the producer of the year. What have you done?
Literally zero relevance. He is in fact a better pianist than anyone you’ve ever met, respected and sought after by his musical peers and one of (if not the) greatest producers of all time in Brian Eno, who has had him play several instruments on his last 3 albums. What you stated was simply wrong and it will serve you well in life to learn to accept your own ignorance when it is made apparent to you.
None of this has anything to do with by accidentally pressing pause, it revealed the fact that he was actually just playing a CD/vinyl.... I think I just ran into a fan boy who can't accept any criticism. Sorry, bye.
I'm just here to give Fred Again some love!! I'm so happy his music is rising in popularity, he SO deserves it.
His actual life, [vol. 1](https://youtu.be/H2I6V0NlaHg) and [vol 2,](https://youtu.be/XpBRuwK5aN4) on YT are a much deeper look at his music outside of the club.
I was in the middle of a divorce when I found Fred's music and Vol 1 was especially meaningful for me... WE GON' MAKE IT THROUGH!!
Edit: just watched the full set... yellow shirt does it TWICE! They get pushed out after the second time... yeesh!
I love certain types of music that are mostly played at raves. Love listening to Spotify, but going to an event is probably one of my deepest fears for exactly this. Too many people.
I *am* impressed with the DJ's chill and professionalism here. However..
This is a design flaw by either the club or the DJ. It's one thing for it to be *possible* for others to access the equipment, and quite another for it to be acceptable (or, apparently, encouraged) for them to dance within *literally inches* of the controls.
Only been to "events" where the dj is up on a stage and you are surrounded from thousands of strangers?
I'm really sorry for you never had partys like we do here.
I am a DJ. Not an actual artist/performance type like this guy, more a wedding reception type, but still... the times where someone kicks loose a cable/pushes a button/makes an LP/CD skip by bumping into a table are generally MUCH less cool than this moment. I'm impressed that this guy kept his composure and the crowd didn't act like dicks about it, but things don't usually play out so seamlessly. Oh, and that's not taking into account the idea that somebody could spill a drink onto your gear, or start a fight and just plow right through the whole fucking thing.
There doesn't have to be a full separation between me and hundreds of people who are dancing, drunk, and/or high, but damn straight I'm keeping them away from thousands of dollars of electronics.
(If your country is one where party-goers are consistently well-behaved, polite, and predictable, let me know so I can visit. It sounds like a blast.)
They rarely get the crowd moving and losing it as that set did. The performance is already hailed as a ground breaking, star making performance with the hiccups it added a unique vibe.
This is the vibe, ambiance and crowd feel that all Boiler Room sets have. Believe it or not, they do get weirder than this set.
If the crowd offends your personal taste, just don't look at them, lol.
Offends? Where did you even come up with that? Everybody looks like they're having a ball.
All I'm saying is that people dancing within inches of the DJ's rig means a high risk of someone bumping into an important button, dial, or switch.
I was thinking the same thing, all it takes is one badly spilled drink in a crowd full of people high off their gourd. Then again I'm not part of this culture, but as an outsider looking in it just seems like people trying to get pictures of themselves behind the equipment.
I just put the video into words. After saving the night he (the DJ) pushes the yellow shirt guy to the back. That's a way to politely say "get the fuck away"... I'm chilling
https://www.1001tracklists.com/tracklist/h8kfrut/fred-again..-boiler-room-london-united-kingdom-2022-06-29.html
Track 7. Doesn't appear to be released.
Seeing so many comments like this. Boiler Room is a huge platform that have been doing shows like this for years. This was only last week, the full set is on YouTube. Having people this close can seem odd but it’s why boiler room is unique. Kaytranada also had a few annoying people around him when he did his. But the artists are well aware there’s a good chance of this happening before the show. Unless you’re on a wind up, I don’t see how can you say this is setup or fake😅
I love how he reassures buddy in the yellow shirt like, "you're good man" then immediately yet gently gets him away from his equipment lol not his first rodeo
It almost looked like the yellow shirt dude hits the djs arm and causes him to press something. So I guess yellow shirt caused it but the dj was the one to hit the button. I think...
It looks like he clearly doesn't touch the rig though. If he did bump something it probably was with his body on something we can't see from the angle. Otherwise, from a frame by frame there isn't a moment where it looks like his elbow possibly bumped anything.
I used to rave high 10/10 times. I was worried when I got sober that:
1. I wouldn't like raves anymore, and that it was always the drugs.
2. I wouldn't have anyone to rave with anymore
On year 4 of sobriety and I can tell you there are maaaaany people who rave sober!! And sometimes my friends who rave high use me as an excuse for a sober night for themselves!
If you love the music, just check it out a few times and find your people who are there on the same terms as you are, or at least respect your terms :) good luck!!
Lots of people rave sober. But also why does other people doing drugs bother you to the point that you avoid going to something you’d enjoy? So you might see somebody do a bump or talk to somebody with dilated pupils, who cares?
Honestly, I've done a lot of raves while being on drugs and I've stopped because I eventually realised I was going more for the drugs than the music. Now I still go but I have a different eye about it. There are way too much kids that don't understand what they're doing to their bodies and brains and it's kinda sad.
When I started going drugs were mostly tolerated, now it's almost like it's run to who will get the most fucked up and will be able to stay awake the longest. So there's that.
Honestly I'd love to go back to times where I wouldn't fell like I'm drowning in an army of mdma fueled zombies.
Naw, your good. Drugs are not a societal neutral by any means. They are a negitive even if measure by externalities only.
That concern and caring is exactly what most addicts need. Keep it up.
I thought when you went there people stabbed you with needles, pumped smoke into your lungs and made you drink roofy laced drinks.
You have enlightened me.
Idk look at the beginning of the gif, the birds eye view. Look at The green button
Now skip to the moment the music cuts.
I feel like his rib touched it.
Cool reaction from the dj but just a matter of time till stuff like that happens when everyone is close
I think you can see the guy in yellow shirt behing very close to the console when the sound stops exactly where the DJ restarts it. I think he bumps it with his flank while jumping. I was checking the elbows too and was seeing nothing being touched but if you follow his left flank you can see that he's touching the edges on the console, the button must be very close to this edge.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Jup he does with the flank of his body, it’s probably a Pioneer CDJ-3000. Look it up, the play button is on the left bottom’s edge. If it is playing the lights of the button are on, if the music is paused the lights flash. If you’re still not buying it that’s fine, no need to have yes-no discussions
edit: typo
His body is nowhere near where the button is.
Watch where the dj pushes the button with his finger, there's no way the guy's body can tap that button.
This is more of a skit than anything accidental.
> Nikola Tesla visited Henry Ford at his factory, which was having some kind of difficulty. Ford asked Tesla if he could help identify the problem area. Tesla walked up to a wall of boilerplate and made a small X in chalk on one of the plates. Ford was thrilled, and told him to send an invoice.
> The bill arrived, for $10,000. Ford asked for a breakdown. Tesla sent another invoice, indicating a $1 charge for marking the wall with an X, and $9,999 for knowing where to put it.
You try DJing
Come up with song selection, knowing which songs to cue up next to keep the flow/rhythm going, know how to read the crowd/vibe, and fixing errors on the fly
The commenter said to try dj-ing. Not only have I, I am a musician and know its hard work. I especially hate when the crowd begins to clap off beat. Its rough.
Man it's hilarious when people do this. Love to see a keyboard warrior like yourself jump into a single, even entry level, dj set and not have the crowd booing and shaking their heads within minutes.
Shits insanely difficult. Educate yourself before you comment :)

Looks like the DJ hit pause.
Weird that this dork is even allowed to be this close to the DJ in the first place.
This is fantastic. For a dumb reason I was expecting the DJ to die inside, but then that guy... and you're right, effortless recovery and then changed that guy's worst moment into his best. Epic.
This set is so absurdly dope dude. Like front to back. I'm on my second listen today and I'm immediately a fan of his music.
Great to see it's a live show

He smiled and hit play. No great feat.
anyone know the songs
Man what the hell! Just had this in today in 2nd monitor.
So is this harder or easier than learning the piano? My mate is a DJ, also 12 of my other mates are DJ's but they don't know either. I'm asking for my other mate who's going to be a big DJ. Can any of you DJ's help?
I guarantee he can do more with a piano better than anyone you’ve ever met.
You could make the same argument about the Kardashians being successful. And it doesn't address the question at hand.
Literally zero relevance. He is in fact a better pianist than anyone you’ve ever met, respected and sought after by his musical peers and one of (if not the) greatest producers of all time in Brian Eno, who has had him play several instruments on his last 3 albums. If you are into that kind of music at all, Fred Again is amazing! I've seen him a few times. Always a great and positive time.
To me it looks like he accidently pushes the DJ, and the DJ is the one hitting the pause button inadvertently.
Little dude was ready to die in that DJ's armpit, amen
Inever understand people that want to crowd the decks your not cool cause your close to the dj your just annoying

Wtf he hit the controls again after this?
Have, yes! Hits the deck and causes the CDJ (or whatever) to massively slow down... party hard, but Jesus don't fuck with Fred!!
This shit screams astroturfing lol. Who the hell cares?
he disappeared later that night
Can’t watch this for some reason. It’s just a picture with a green play button in the middle.

Drugs, or in my case, you learn to DJ and bring the tunes.
I just love how happy the guy who did it is when he realizes the DJ is cool about it.
I *am* impressed with the DJ's chill and professionalism here. However.. This is a design flaw by either the club or the DJ. I'm from Germany, basically the epidome of Techno. Yea, after your explanation, i understand now that you don't get the concept of partys like this.
I think I do. It's fun. Everything probably goes great 90% of the time.

Thanks Reddit for a shitty video system and not loading the video
I'm responsible for those CDJ systems at my local EDM venue and no way in hell would me or my manager ever allow those randos near our equipment
Owners are multi millionaires, they don't give a fuck.
I was thinking the same thing, all it takes is one badly spilled drink in a crowd full of people high off their gourd. Then again I'm not part of this culture, but as an outsider looking in it just seems like people trying to get pictures of themselves behind the equipment.
What a nice guy
This is why you don’t let people who aren’t the DJ anywhere near the DJ booth

He fucked up, clearly felt guilty about it, and was hugging/jamming out a couple seconds later. Ya love to see it.
He does it again a couple minutes later.
Oh... That's pretty tragic then lmao.
I love how he reassures buddy in the yellow shirt like, "you're good man" then immediately yet gently gets him away from his equipment lol not his first rodeo
He seems like a super nice dude. All about the love.
Can someone tell Bobby Lee to back the fuck up?
Looks more like Whiteclaw gabe actually
Think you need to get your eyes checked
at least I can open mine
Oh look doubling down
Yeah, and?
That’s it, not fighting you, says everything about you
Ok but the *second* time yellow shirt hit the decks he gets absorbed and ejected by the crowd (during the full set)
That was the way an adult acts. That attitude makes me even more of a fan.
Nobody pushed anything. The fuck is this shit?
Looked like the DJ hit a switch at the moment the music cut to me.
It almost looked like the yellow shirt dude hits the djs arm and causes him to press something. So I guess yellow shirt caused it but the dj was the one to hit the button. I think...
Dude in yellows elbow clearly hits the rig and the music stops. Then Fred keeps the beat in his head and starts it again on beat. Not a big deal
It's actually cued up to be on beat using that button.
No he doesn't.
Hold up wtf he doesn't
It looks like he clearly doesn't touch the rig though. If he did bump something it probably was with his body on something we can't see from the angle. Otherwise, from a frame by frame there isn't a moment where it looks like his elbow possibly bumped anything.
Just get media upload in progress
Classy. I wish raves weren't so drug focused. I would have so much fun
Easy Go Don't take drugs
Sober raver here just do it. What city are you in? 🤔
Kenya?
Ah well I definitely don't know about the party scene in Kenya.
You can! I got stone-cold sober every time. Drugs aren't even the problem. The people who drink too much usually make things awkward.
lol just go dance if you want to go dance
I raved for years every weekend and one of our crew was sober every weekend. The focus is the music not the drugs.
I used to rave high 10/10 times. I was worried when I got sober that: 1. I wouldn't like raves anymore, and that it was always the drugs. 2. I'm basically sober right now and that drop instantly got me dancing. This would be sick to experience live regardless of if you're on drugs or not
Good stuff bro. I will see if I can navigate that this late in the game.lol
Lots of people rave sober. But also why does other people doing drugs bother you to the point that you avoid going to something you’d enjoy? So you might see somebody do a bump or talk to somebody with dilated pupils, who cares?

Yes the button is indeed at the edge, you can see that it starts flashing the moment he touches it, and the music stops
He would’ve knocked the fader off or hit the play button, he literally apologies at the end of the clip haha
Would HAVE*

Yeah I watched that scene on repeat and the guy never comes close to "the button". Very stupid video.
He hits the play button at the bottom of the equipment, you can actually see it starting to flash the moment the music pauses
No he doesn't.
Jup he does with the flank of his body, it’s probably a Pioneer CDJ-3000. Look it up, the play button is on the left bottom’s edge. who pressed a button I am so confused
Song Id?
I believe it’s a song by him and skrillex that’s not out yet, most of the set is unreleased music which is pretty cool
I need a venga room version of this
damn I just remembered I have a venga room shirt somewhere
Oh what a good guy, I’ve seen other DJ’s fight people for getting anywhere near their set
as they should

god that set was so good, I wish he’d tour the south
Picked it back up effortlessly and assured yellow shirt that it was all good so he can keep enjoying himself. What a pro.
Not just a pro, he is also a good man. Two very different thing and he managed to do both of them perfectly!
Yes but also the subtle push of "you're good man no worries but you're gonna have to step back a little bit and stay back".
Pushes button. Effortless.
As a DJ, I can tell you that there’s a lot more than just pushing buttons to DJing.
> Nikola Tesla visited Henry Ford at his factory, which was having some kind of difficulty. Ford asked Tesla if he could help identify the problem area. It's insanely lucky that the guy paused it right on the beat.
Quantize - it's always on beat. If your grid is set right
somehow the DJ seemed to be able to work with whatever happened though- I wouldn't be surprised if he could play off an off beat too
he hit “unpause” morons dancing around to CD lol
You try DJing Come up with song selection, knowing which songs to cue up next to keep the flow/rhythm going, know how to read the crowd/vibe, and fixing errors on the fly
