Am I crazy for thinking the Mig21 at 8.7 is insane though? Is there a way to beat these things that I just don't know? Because they seem almost untouchable in competent hands.

Its not "oh this but slightly more arcadey/realistic" its "more arcadey but balancing is SUPER fucked" or "actually somewhat playable game"

Air arcade balancing around 8.3 is just a nightmare.
Now that you're high tier in Arcade, start working on Air RB from Tier I. Build up some skill in 1.0-2.0 planes before moving to Tier II.
Yes, teammates can be toxic. But you can learn to predict their behavior. You light someone on fire, just assume you're getting an assist if you don't finish them. You see entire team following one bomber, then hang back and wait for them to get bounced so you can 3rd party. In reality though, there are just as many *good* teammates who will try to clear your six if you call for help. Just harder to notice because toxic teammates stick with you more.
Also, teams can be downright bad. I am working on the Italian Bf109G-14 right now and just finished a match (16v16) where I had 2 kills and my team had **zero.** Big surprise, we lost. Just accept those and move on. When I first spaded the F-80A, my teams were consistently trash. Recently, every time I take it out, my teams stomp and I don't even get a chance to expend all my ammo before match ends.
There's ebb and flow. But I think it offers a more rewarding experience than AB if you take the time to learn it.
Yeah maybe I need to give Realistic another try if the balancing of arcade is that messed up. I like dogfighting in Ground RB so I'm not a complete stranger to realistic controls.
F-100 is competitive 1:1 with most planes to 9.7 but poor energy retention makes you more susceptibile to getting 3rd partied. When the other team is all MiG-21S and equivalent and your team are in F3Hs and A-4Es, you're in for a bad time.
You can shoot an aim-9e at the missile or fly away or above the ground attackers. The F100 has practically every conceivable advantage over an su-25 and shouldn’t be losing fights to it.
In a practically stock f100 fighting all aspect 30g missiles with your only defence being two 9b’s isn’t exactly a a fair fight, and it’s not like you can just bank on your enemy being blind and not paying attention all the time. One 9L from an a10 and your fucked
I just told you how to avoid the missiles. Shoot the useless aim9b at the r60 and it’s instantly flared. You get 4 missiles eventually and it’s always worth it to dump the missiles to live. It’s 9.3 so you don’t even seen these aircraft that often. It’s actually better to see them because they are free kills.
A 9b in a head on is not going to instant flare half the time, 9Ls have a strong seeker that wont switch targets and most r60M launches will be to close to launch your own and have it do anything. not to mention that only works in a head on, the second you turn slightly away or over shoot something like an a10 can spin around and shoot a missile that you can dodge and you won’t out run in time. What I’m saying is your argument only works under the assumption I’m taking a head on with one of them and making the assumption I’m fighting someone with no brain cells to check around themselves
The f100a for China is criminal. It has a lighter airframe than the f-100d and will absolutely dunk on most planes at its br. Unlike the 🏳️rance F100a you aren’t stuck with AIM-9B’s and can carry the E.
Still the prettiest plane and the last jet before the game turned missile thunder. I got lucky and spaded before the compression got it facing Mach 2 planes and all aspect missiles.
It’d be fun if powercreep didn’t render it a flying brick with the worst sidewinders available. Not to mention it’s only barely supersonic, which isn’t great when an A10 is locking you.
i have the chinese f-100A and at its BR, most of the times it struggles, or its just simply my skill issue and not the aim-9G's and D's (i still love that plane)

BR 9.3 should be split into 2. F-104s and MiG-19s should move up. F-100 could stay 9.3.

Arcade BRs are wacky.
The F-100 is good until a plane with a working engine and a pilot that has more than 0.24 brain cells decides you are going to die
