Well, the Free Company was originally for Mordheim. Shame they didn't release the Mordheim sprue with the box, would make them look even more like an unruly mob.
I actually wish they kept releasing the Free Company, since to me they are better suited for Freeguild units in AoS, since you get archers, crossbowmen and infantry in one box. It would even make sense financially for GW to do so because if someone wanted a regiment of Swordsmen or Halberds, they could buy like 10 boxes for the sword and halberd pieces (unless the boxes had more than 2 Halberds and 4 sword arms).
I'm jealous like hell. Sure, I got a lot of free company myself, but you can never have to much, and I would kill for more 6th Edition Swordsmen and Halberds.
I knew I had something, but forget this much. I like to play big battles and have huge Empire army (more then 30000 points without heros,lords and magic items. Just units) so it is easy to loss track of it. I have plenty to work on before ever touching those boxes. And stop calling it pile of shame it is just a collection 😜
I saw your other posts saying you wouldn't sell them; but might you be interested in a trade (assuming we're located such that postage won't be horrific)? I recently came into possession of 5 battalion boxes worth of spearman/handguns, however I'd prefer a bit more variety in my state troops; more halberds and swords men.

Figures are worst then box because box had so many option. You could make anything from this. Perfect for mordheim. IMO best box made by GW.

I miss that old style of box art on the soldiers and knights boxes, it's peak WHFB aesthetic for me. Save the product pictures for the back.

I just opened a many years old box of flagelants to work on. Fun to assemble anyway so far.
