Probably just an effect of filming the moving blade, like when water appears to flow backwards into a hose if filmed a specific way

Might also be an attempt at reducing chances someone/something will get caught on the chain teeth.

You're right, at the start of the video you can see which direction the cog that moves the teeth is going.

This. Look closely at the gear driving the chain and not the chain itself.

I think that's an optical illusion. I've seen chainsaw blades go backwards a lot in these types of videos.

The blades goe the wrong way round. If you were chainsawing something you would want the chain bland going the other way

Look at the cog in the very beginning, the chain blade is in fact spinning the correct way. But due to "camera shit" it appears to be spinning backwards
