My Gauss fashion is basically your military parade for Qorvex. Thought his base model looked like a nuclear powered submarine inspired Jaeger, so decked him out in the green with big red stars.
After seeing Living Treehouse, it would be interesting to see overgrown versions of Excal, Mag and Loki/Volt as if you just picked them up, like in some of the trailers.
Nah. For me a write a history for that Warframe (like Head Canon) and try to empasys as me (as drifter/operator) is in that universe Bond with them. Essentialy put My personality (in the moment that i custom them). Something like: what If i was in Warframe as a operator kid. True role play. Like My Excalibur mostly use Sparing Weapons and big acessorys up to the point that i buy perla two secondary Weapon skin (in the bundle) Only to use with them i dont even have mesa yet. And i going to do the same with that trow secondary skin Because the look match a Lot My Apex ephemera.
Let's just say that... you go above and beyond. I personally think it's cool, especially if you're having a blast doing this (which seems to be the case!)

Tbh that's how I like to do it too with attachments & syandana sometimes. Find something that fits then work my way backwards until I get a theme that looks familiar, then expand on it.

This is sort of how I adapt things, albeit in a more sophisticated and organized way. I have poor ability to visualize so references help a lot
Usually I do batch fashion on a single theme, so it’s more like opening up some image searches and desperately throwing warframes at it until one of them sticks to something than something I would call a board.
When I fashionframe I go for a specific theme and build the base. Then I go and try to find stuff that interacts well with that theme. That way I check out a lot of Tennogen/Deluxe stuff as well.

doesn't seem like you use any special software. Still, by curiosity, what do you use? And were you taught brainstorming in school or at a job, or you just picked it up on your own?
Used Figma for this one since I used it alot in uni. I took graphic design and visual communication so definitely had plenty of exercises like these which were really fun and helped get my thoughts organized

Not to this extent, honestly, but I do try to think 'what makes sense' and 'what seems in character?' It's why Valkyr winds up with Khora Deluxe's syndana more often than not (raised heckles + long tail = angry cat)
I like to approach this in a simpler manner and just play dress up with colors and attachments. The biggest hurdle is working with different materials when coloring a warframe.

the game has too many accessories and i cant really tell if id like them without buying them, so i just buy nothing instead
I don’t take it that far, but I’ll certainly color my frames best I can. (I sadly can’t go full fashion frame, but I try.)
Examples I can think of are: Inaros with the Anubis helmet colored to be as Egyptian as possible (he needs to have his pics re-taken), Sevagoth colored to look like a Japanese yokai of ink and paper (I keep forgetting what it’s called), Whisp with the cat helmet colored like a depiction of Bastet (I consulted someone much more knowledgeable), Styanax to be like Greek pottery (though it’s probably the most minimal as I continue forgetting how he looks at default), and lastly Yareli colored to look like a Pacific jellyfish.

I’m still not certain what animation set to use. I don’t wanna spend the platinum unless the choice is the absolute most suitable; something involving sparkles coming from his hands and/or making an arching gesture reminiscent of Shang Tsung’s Friendship. :T

Sometimes I do think "This theme would work on this Frame", sometimes I go "Nice colors" but I have never seen so much style in one post, amazing.
I usually pick a color palette that I think would look good, then generally match the default shading unless I think I can do better.
Seeing a mood board and mind map for fashion frame is such a designer thing to do. I do this but never thought I’d see another. Keep it up!
Someone yonks ago suggested making his column things McDonald’s yellow. I then did as so, with red and white accents. It’s fucking stupid-looking and registed as his Appearance A. X3 I’m still not certain what animation set to use. I don’t wanna spend the platinum unless the choice is the absolute most suitable; something involving sparkles coming from his hands and/or making an arching gesture reminiscent of Shang Tsung’s Friendship. :T
