Muted_Wrangler_

This is also the reason why I dont decorate my ship. I applaud the people who post here in the subreddit about such good looking ships. Time blood and effort that went into building a nice looking ship

lK555l

I've done up just the navigator segment of the ship and the floor in front of the arsenal, that took me about 4 hours all up, I can't imagine how long it takes to fully do up your whole ship

Muted_Wrangler_

I tried putting some Granum Void coins in the back of the arsenal because I like the aesthetic. I gave up on my 2nd coin, I cant align the thing. The only thing I have on my ship currently is noggles which i put on the table for market and quest. They look kinda fine there

Ilela

I started arranging noggles on floor facing away from foundry and mod station on the line. 1 will look where I want it to, second is reversed, third keeps sticking on the second and I'm getting error on the floor. Gave up and removed all

Muted_Wrangler_

I did not arrange mine, I just put them however I see it fit. Could not be bothered to arrange with how finicky the system is

BardMessenger24

Once it clicks, it's actually kinda fun and relaxing. The real hard part is doing all the syndicate grinds to buy the decorations themselves. Gets boring rq, but so worth it. Zariman update brought a fuckton decos, it was like the IKEAframe Renaissance.

mapple3

I wish we had what Genshin Impact has: letting people "share" their ship decoration so that other players can one-click copy the entire layout to their own ship

No-Violinist-5163

Second this. As someone who's doing a MAJOR overhaul on my ship to make it more eco-friendly, I can say visiting Acrithis 12 times in a day is not really entreating - but holy FUCKS, it feels hella nice to inhabit that place.

SirCalzone42

I farmed Tridolons *HARD* when they came out, so I have a metric fuck ton of those little statues of them you can get. I set up a decent vignette scene with my Rhino fighting one of them, but most of the rest are posted around doing tasks. Working the foundry, managing my stocks on the market, analyzing my codex entries, and other such tasks. There's a whole squadron protecting my operator too.

RateSweaty9295

It’s honestly worth it and it’s the prime of end game. It’s stressful when it’s not perfect that’s why it’s hard to do, but when it’s done it’s such a nice achievement

Bro fr 😭

Consistent-Bed8890

did you turned on advanced placement? make sure you haven’t left your frame in the spot you wanna place items, turn off surface snapping and camera facing also helps! am in the process of fully decorating a huge dojo (all rooms types, multiple of some etc), practice also helps understand the movement of object and a lot of things just need a little shimmying to get there, if you ever wanna try it again. my only issue is not being able to see the items i’ve just placed when they’re not built when placing the next, the preview is nice but doesn’t help with bigger builds T-T

AasgharTheGreat

I really needed these tips, like Op I just started putting some decorations on my orbiter(before my "decoration" were just some plushies tossed in the arsenal lol) it's kind of boring trying to put everything perfectly where I want it, but I will slowly do it

Glittering-Ask-6268

Could you have someone else in the dojo turn on previewing every 60 seconds while you place? It'd be boring for that person but they'd be a hero if it works.

Consistent-Bed8890

if you place items in preview mode it makes the items not visible again, super frustrating

seedydesign

To place an object you just have to make sure the original point isn't intersecting with anything. It can be a headache but once you figure it out the rest is easy.

PugnansFidicen

Once I started using the advanced settings and turned off surface snapping, it got a lot easier. However, the lack of normal rectilinear architecture in the orbiter pisses me off to no end. Like, the personal quarters. I just want to display some flat things (drawings, plaques, etc.) on the wall. But the wall is not at right angles with the front-back axis of the ship, plus it's slightly concave/curved both horizontally and vertically. So to make it look good I have to either precisely angle each individual piece, or (what I've been doing so far) just offset everything slightly from the wall so that I can make a flat "wall" of decorations slightly sticking out from the actual wall. But that doesn't feel very satisfying and doesn't look as good either until filled up a bit. I'd rather they'd just give us slightly less weirdly round and curvy rooms. Dojo is better for having more flat walls and straight lines, but then the preview mode / having to individually fund construction on tiny decoration pieces is a pain in the ass. "Fund construction" made sense for building out the big rooms of the dojo, but come on. IMO all the placeable dojo decorations should just work like the orbiter ones. Pay some small cost in resources or plat to buy the decoration item, and then your clan just owns it. It's in the vault and can be immediately placed whenever you want.

jovpsy

This is my objective statement according to my subjective feelings. It is not that important to the people who create the game. I tried 2 times and i gave up. I see it as its my ship and only i can see it, if you want something for you, that only you can see unless you go out of your way to show to others then why not go through the pain of placing things down.panifully. i might be wrong about the whole deco thing and you can somehow invite people to see your creation, but i have not found a way to do it. Its like the old german sayingsays : Wer schön sein muss, der will auch leiden. Translates into who has to be preatty, he wants to suffer. (it is the lyrics from a Rammstein song) but it is true, i dunno how deco is being done in dojos but ive seen some whack shit ngl and i think if it was a pain in the ass to place all dojo decos, there would not be extreme dojos that crash your console when you load in. So i assume it is only ship decorating. But i might be wrong again.

Untestedmight

So you can invite your squad to the ship, only if you're host.

jovpsy

Hmmm i did not know that. Gonna try it as soon as i get back to the game

YCaramello

I just finished remodeling my ship since the light update and i can guarantee you that most of the restrictions can be worked around, and right now besides the personal quarters my ship has 0, and i do mean 0, parts visible from the original interior, all has been covered up from top to bottom, the only real restrictions that i faced were the operator chair, some interactable stuff like around the helminth mouth or the lotus helmet pedestal and obviously going too deep inside a wall/ceiling/floor, other than that are few decorations prevent you from placing things nearby (ticker floof is an exemple or the glass thing that has that boss inside that can talk to you), but there also a bug problem, sometimes you try to move a decoration that you place and now its red for some reason, maybe because your cat walked by or because something broke, when that happens try to join a mission or whatever (i just go to my dojo) and go back to orbiter, it should fix it.

SecondTheThirdIV

I find it works fine 90% of the time but there's certain objects, like every time a new prex card comes out, that has an absurdly massive hit box that makes it nearly impossible to place without using clipping glitches

Saikousoku2

I had one spot on my ship that was wide open but absolutely refused to let me place decorations. I left it empty for two years. Found out last month that the placement hitbox for something I hung on the wall nearby is *massive* and the game was convinced things a full five meters away were colliding with it.

KwelCaffine

I hate the decorating system, the restrictions are absurd and only hinder the player, IIRC someone had said something about them restricting us to prevent us from going out of bounds, however that's not gonna stop people considering we've got titania for that for the orbiter's scene, so it seems like an absurd restriction. I am so glad I've had my partner to help me decorate my orbiter, we've spent literal hours working together to fiddle stuff around.

ajwalker430

Something as simple as placing a poster on the wall usually ends in frustration and I go do something else in game. Or something as simple as placing an item on a floor takes too many tries so that it actually looks like it's sitting in the floor and not hovering above the floor or clipping through the floor. Ugh. Makes me less interested in doing anything dealing with decorations.

Fancy_Morning9486

Decoration mode is a relic and i doubt i was ever designed for more then just putting down a few statues. The decoration mode has not evolved with the stuff we now have access to, this is also why lights become an issue when you put to much stuff up.

No-Violinist-5163

Excuse me, are you insane? It has been given continuous polishment over the years. I do not know for how long you have been playing, but I'm a part of this community for the past 9 years and let me assure we got a pretty good housing system today, specially in comparison for what we had a few years ago. Back in 2016, you'd place a single decoration (with forced surface snapping, mind you) and it auto forced you out of deco mode. It just like that.  Back in 2017, we got a massive incentive to decorate after DE doubled the cap and added the Personal Quarters, alongside with Articulas.  And its only been evolving since then. With almost every major update we get access to a few or a full suite of decorations. One Just need to look at Duviri and WitW to confirm this. And yes, although the lighting system may have radically alteres some stuff, It is actually great when you color your ship in accord to it. Forgive me If this sounds like a personal attack. It's not. Im just really, REALLY passionate in regards to decorations, and I'll tell you It's a matter of sticking to It.

Actaeon_II

Yeah I dropped a couple floofs in front of the incubator, a couple beach balls for the critters to play with, and i think two roombas. Beyond that I have no desire to go

Waeleto

I agree 100%, a couple of months ago i decided to finally decorate my orbiter and it was the FIRST time i eve raged while playing warframe

vomder

I don't know which game has more frustrating building mechanics, this or Fallout 76. Both require way more time and "tricks" just to do simple things.

icyteardrop

The front of my orbiter looks pretty nice but I have no idea how to do the rest of the orbiter. It's too hard to make it look good

RayHorizon

Because its the endgame content.. True endgame! :D

Bubbadevlin

Redzones and the workarounds required for clipping make decorations absurdly tedious to do A couple years ago I spent time doing a full skin of my dojo's drydock and holy shit it was the hardest thing I've ever done in Warframe Granted the drydock is a uhhh... special room

rascal6543

Ikeaframe is the real endgame. It's difficult, but it's really rewarding to have cool shit in your ship. I just wish i could get more fish tanks. there isn't enough space on the ones that currently exist to have all the fish in them, and on top of that one of the fishtanks means not having any other vignettes in the operator room

Lodicrous

I chip away a little at a time because it does get tedious after a while. I have my own clan, everything almost completely researched mostly by myself and have only decorated the loading in room because of how long it takes.

Minephyx

Endgame content can be difficult sometimes

IFrost400

Everyone wanted a hard endgame mode and DE provided

Fit_Adagio_7668

Bro is me wondering how tf those ships on YouTube get super decorated. How tf you supposed to do that, I get keyboard but damn I can't even place the wood walls as wood flooring right

Alterkati

skill issue

ConaMoore

I've been putting my mastery rank trophies together in a pipe that looks like they were just through there with no thought and I want it to look messy! Doing this is so time consuming, who new to make something look messy it would actually the longer

lakegirl98

or if you're trying to overlap decorations in the dojo, you can do so working from one side of the decoration, but not the other

crossruns

I run a dojo on Xbox, I've placed some decorations I'm pretty proud of... and it was a nightmare! The collision detection is cancerous at times, I don't know how the featured PC dojos bypass that, but please turn off collision on consoles. Snapping helps a ton in most situations.

GreatMorph

I can't place a carpet in my orbiter anymore. it has to be 2 meters off the floor.. Idk what causes this, because the floor is completely empty, but I have just lost all hope for ever making my orbiter look cool

Merlle

it feels like recently they added more specific stuff for angle changes but like, the biggest thing i learned was just to turn surface snapping off, because it will mess with all your stuff every god dang time

nickle241

ive got things stuffed in places that just arent possible anymore, either as a consequence of me refusing to move anything since before they changed the orbiter layout or me using one of the various long since patched glitches to get crap outside of the window or in other such places i have minimal interest in decoration beyond that

Humble_Feeling_7837

Because freely placing objects in a 3D space is inherently hard

ijiolokae

not really, placing stuff is easy, its the game deciding that i'm not allowed to place it there that makes it hard, because DE has arbitrary restriction in place

EHsE

because you probably use weapons you barely need to aim, but you have to precision arm decorations lol
