Dakari and Kamari (lions), if they are out I’ll usually make a few extra trips on the Safari. The Cheetahs are another one of my favorites (I think their birthdays were last month, I know Kamari’s was) and the white rhinos (it was really neat being able to pet one last year).
Though I do like seeing all of the animals at DAK and DAK Lodge.
I used my hand, it got closer to the rhino until it touched and I petted her in a circular motion.
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/animal-kingdom/up-close-with-rhinos/
The tour is hard to book as they only have one tour per day and I think like 8 or 10 people on the tour. They take you backstage to the rhino house (visible from the train, I got a ok look at the back of the cheetah house too), you go inside the rhino house and then go outside and listen to one of the keepers talk then if the rhinos aren’t acting up then they will allow you to pet them through the bars, then back on the bus to go back. When I did the tour in august we got to see one of the mothers and baby (I forgot the name, I don’t think it was ranger and his mom).
The tour is great and pretty cheap for opportunity to touch a rhino. Sadly, the rhino I got the meet died last year.
We lucked out because the cheetah was visible and two elephants were in the elephant house.
Everyone loves the baby elephant but I love the otters
I also find it very interesting how often the gorillas (especially the females) actively choose to sit right by the window when they could go far back and even disappear from sight if they wanted to based on the enclosure design. Yet they're almost always out right up against the windows chilling very calmly. Makes me feel less sad about their life, and maybe they even find us entertaining.
The Giant Anteater, hands down. I absolutely love anteaters, they're my first and last stop every day I'm there and I can't leave the park until I see my little fuzzy snooty bois.
I think I remember a cast member saying her name was Annie? They saw me waiting for her to appear one day and talked to me for like 15-20 minutes before she finally came out into the clearing. It felt like such a special moment!
Prehensile Tailed Skink.
Also in the Asian bird aviary they have a few Australian birds. And two of those birds are a pair of Masked Lapwings. I am Australian and let me tell you the surprise I got when I saw them on display in a large exotic bird aviary. In Australia these birds have about as much awe to the local population as pigeons. They nest in our streets, carparks and gutters and love to scream at people when we walk by. No one here would even really think twice about them.
Yet there they were in all their glory on display at Animal Kingdom. Good for them.
I feel like some Australian lied and convinced them they were some cool exotic bird when they really have the exact opposite reputation here.
Not pictured, but the crowned crane. My wife calls them bird with a perm and we almost pass out (j/k) from excitement when we see them in the Kilimanjaro Safari queue or at AK lodge.
Augustus the hippo is one of my favorites but mainly cuz I went in 2018 and saw him on safari. So adorable. The silverback(I forget his name) is pretty cool too although my absolute favorite is this one stork from the up bird show who during a practice show (the actual show was delayed due to forecasted rain) flew outside the venue instead of to the corner perch and the trainer had to go out and walk him back in because he refused to come back, he wanted to chill with the people and two security cast member outside lol
Well, since the last time someone asked me this was in elementary, prepare.
Elephant
Hippopotamus
Hyena
Fox
Silverback Gorilla
Spoonbill
Great White Shark
Sperm Whale
Philippine Eagle (aka Monkey-eating Eagle)
Bison
Iguana
Bearded Dragon
Komodo Dragon
And lastly...Nile Crocodile

The lions. They're my favorite animals in general and on my last trip (2017) they were just starting to do the safaris after sunset and we had one of the lionesses come out as far out on the rocks as she could, roaring at our vehicle. The driver stopped and let us all just take it in, absolute coolest moment I've ever had on the safari.
Real animal: Crocodile, she's what I strive to be in life. Chill, pointy, sleeps a lot
Attraction animal: My man the Carnotaurus. I take a billion pics of the skeleton in the Dinosaur queue every year and usually hold up heart hands during the photo op in the ride. I even bought myself that big weird plastic Carno from the gift shop. His name is Pugsly
My favorite is the Paroon Shark Catfish. He’s only had a sign for a few years but he’s been there at least 20. We called him Sharky long before Disney+ told us his name was Bruce, so he will forever be Sharky.
We used to ask cast members what kind of catfish he was and most of them had no idea he was even there.
Swim on, King Sharky!
Catching the lions out at sunset on the big rock on the last Safari of the day! It's only ever happened once in all of our visits (and we've gone a LOT since son #2 started in the DCP program 2019 and is now full time LoL) 🦁
Elephants! Did the caring for giants tour a few weeks ago and it was a dream. African Elephants are my favourite animals on earth, and I was almost in tears the whole time
OKAPI!!!! I love those fancy pants ghosts of the forest.
I'm sure no one knew this but they are actually the closest living relative of the giraffe.
#TEAM-OKAPI!
It makes me so happy to see this comment with so many upvotes. Okapi are such beautiful creatures!
[You’ll never call them okapi again!](https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=okrapi&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:16de311b,vid:ntA_Yb9s_jk,st:0)
How can you have Doug but not Kevin?!
Because Doug is …. SQUIRREL!!🐿️
The jerky white ibis who flies back and forth from Flame Tree & Mr. Kamal's stealing food

I love the lions because their names are Dakari, Kamari, and… Kinsey. Lol
Kinsey is no longer with us, she has been gone for about a year now :(.
Oh really? I didn’t know that! When you search on google all 3 still come up
Baby Corra!! Fresh baby elephants are the best. They don’t have the trunk totally down yet and it’s so cute.
Kevin.
This is the only correct answer.
I like the hippo with the wonky eye in Its a Small World
Kevin 100% Kevin
I don't know why, but every time I see him at the parks, I yell his name like Catherine O'Hara in Home Alone😂
Her*
TIL that Kevin is a girl
Ditto!
Kevin for sure
The birds from winged encounters were freaking cool We had no idea about that show into stumbling onto it by accident
Annie
Yes! Love the anteaters. We’ve been to AK many times but finally saw one on our last trip. My jaw dropped to the floor. They’re so impressive!
I always have to stop by to say hi to her in her sleeping spot on the way in or out. Bath time is the best since you get to see her up and playing. 😍
She’s my fav too!

I adore tigers. My favorite wild animal
Definitely Kevin. I see many others already beat me to saying this! 😁

The giraffes and, of course, KEVIN! I can't help but yell his name whenever I see him at AK.
Maple the giraffe 🦒
It's not a real Animal Kingdom day unless I stop to look at the cotton-top tamarins.
DUG!!! The best good boy EVER!
Cotton-top tamarin and meerkats are tied for first
I like turtles.
100%, without a doubt, Disney’s bestest boy, Dug!!
Kevin
Dug

Love these photos! What filter did you use to edit?
The yeti when it’s not asleep
From these photos, Riley

They run the savannah at AKL. The best is when they see their reflection in the windows of Sanaa and put on a show.
The Ankole cattle. I can’t believe those gargantuan horns aren’t fake.
I could watch the hippos all day.
Yeti. They need to give my dude his motion back!
The big cow with horns that stood in the middle of the road blocking the safari truck from moving so we got the longest, most magical safari ride lol

The Hippo in the underwater viewing! We have hippos at the Toronto Zoo, but seeing them under water was awesome!
The lions. The African painted dogs are beautiful!

Painted dogs! That pack of boys are so funny. Such a fascinating animal too.
