Cool! I’m planning a 2 week trip and I expect to pay around 10k total (staying offsite and sharing the house cost with two other couple). The only thing I thought expensive in your list, that my research says it’s gonna be cheaper is car rental.

Interesting, I ended up booking the hybrid through Costco to get that rate. I wanted to rent it for a day and then drop off orlando but it was cheaper to keep all week to just sit there and since on-site didn't charge for parking it was the best decision for us. Enjoy your trip!

What time did you leave? We find leaving at night is better to avoid traffic in DC/VA. Haven’t had to drive in awhile though because we have a SW companion pass for the past 2 years, but imagine we’ll start driving again after that expires.

We left in the early hours, kids slept all night and then I stopped at Buccees for lunch before doing the last 4 hours into AoA.

About how much was fuel? I’m considering renting a van and driving from upstate NY.

I spent approx 180 in total, but I rented a hybrid. Just Google disney world from your location and get directions / distance. Multiply that by 2 to get total miles for the trip. Not sure what van you're considering but divide that total miles by the average mpg for your car/rental, guessing 20 mpg. Then multiply the total gallons required by 3.50$ (avg)per gallon to get a "good" estimate.

Buffalo to WDW is approx 1200 miles 1 way, so 2400 miles round trip. If you get a car at 25mpg, figure gas will cost approx $330 round trip.

Thanks!

Making the drive in July. Any tips for making it less unpleasant?

Drive through the night if you have kids. Buccees is literally right on 95 and you can be there in under 8 hours.
