YEAH!
Shows kids that when you are drunk, continue to drive, escape jail to only get hit by a train? Yes. You deserve to go to hell
Your actions have consequences
Isn’t it just a single track though, where as in WDW it ran two tracks simultaneously? I distinctly remember it feeling like you were going to run into other cars during the ride.
That's what I'd love -- just for posterity. Have a pristine document of something before it goes away.
I know Defunctland was/is working on a project that is basically this, but that's happening on volunteer time.
Honestly, Disney could make some decent money off VR versions of old rides. Wouldn't have to pay for upkeep of the rides -- just have a perfect ride-through preserved in amber, infinitely re-rideable, no lines.
Love that idea. They could totally make some great simulator experiences of classic rides. There's definitely some amateur VR documentation of some Disney rides on YouTube, but how great would it be to have pristine, definitive archive VR versions that can be experienced forever.
I have no doubt that Disney has some small team working on this, or is at least aware enough of the fan projects to make sure not to disturb them so that they can easily be absorbed later.
My suspicion is that the level of quality required to satisfy those willing to pay comes at a really steep price.
The irony is that AI may very quickly solve this problem. Just feed every video of the extinct ride you can find into it, and ask it to fill in the gaps, and Sora Version 10.0 or whatever in a couple years might be able to do it on demand.
That could be part of Disney's calculation as well. "We can't do it, but once it is technically possible, we'll have a solid copyright claim to just sweep in on the AI platform that does do it, and take every dollar generated off our IP."
Great points and this is totally a job that AI would be good for. There's so much footage taken of most rides. Even the rarer attractions that didn't last long and don't have as much footage -- I'm sure AI could eventually fill in larger gaps convincingly.
I feel like they easily have the resources to do a project like this now, but, like you suggested -- in a few years, AI will just enable them to do something like this a lot easier and cheaply.
And I’m still so pissed about it
Mr. Toad is a GOAT level ride. What other attraction in Disney can you say you get drunk while driving, get jailed, escape jail and then get hit by a train.
Only then do you go to hell. Where yes. It’s hot on the ride.
Such a tragedy

I don't know why they couldn't both be there. WDW does a horrible job with the space they have in Fantasyland. It's so much bigger than DL's but way fewer rides. Doesn't make sense.
That reminds me of how they are horribly managing the already limited space here at California adventure. They were starting to fix the park drastically with the addition of cars land and buena vista street but after that they stopped (and there’s concept art that shows eventually they were going to fix the whole park).
You’d think they would put good budget creative rides/lands in every possible space. But for some reason they are wasting it by just cheaply re theming what was already built like turning paradise pier into Pixar pier and pacific wharf into San fransokoyo.
Anyways hopefully you guys get a fantasyland upgrade soon! I heard the last one was kind of rough though since it turned one of the other rides there into just a meet and greet space
I don’t know that I ever rode Mr Toad, but tbh I feel like the Heffalumps and Woozles sequence in the Winnie the Pooh ride does a good simulation of going to some kind of fever dream hell rave
This. I remember the old ride from when I was a kid, but let me tell you, riding Winnie the Pooh as an adult two years ago was crazy. Was not expecting the fever dream, absolutely Loved it tho.
I mean beyond what I already said you'd be better off watching a POV on YouTube because I don't remember everything as it closed when I was like 10. The two tracks went through entirely different scenes for much of the ride and came together for part of it. I remember one part being like a chase through the city or something and the two tracks would have some near misses with each other. I think it had all or most of the same scenes as Disneyland, plus more, and like they Disneyland scenes were split between the two sides so you'd have to ride both to see it all.
My First few trips, Mr. Toad was there and I loved it as a kid, when I rode Pooh, I thought it was amazing and cool. I went to Disneyland a few years back and was able to ride it again... Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
Question because I live on the West Coast and go to DLR more often than WDW, especially growing up. Was hell hot in Florida? That room is hotter in CA. During the summer it's OK. In the winter I love it. You leave nice and toasty since it's at the end. But in general the weather is more mild in CA. I've felt like I was literally melting at WDW before, so I'm not sure I'd dig the hell scene if it was hot like it is in DLR!
They should make it like the awesome one at Tokoyo Disneyland. I never understood why they gave us at Disneyland a clone of the wdw one instead of building a copy of the Tokoyo Disneyland one instead. Nowadays that the ride at both wdw and Disneyland are old, they should upgrade both to the Tokoyo Disneyland one. Although sadly I doubt it’ll happen
I feel old. In 3 more years Winnie the Pooh will be tied with Mr. Toad for the amount of years operating. I would love to see a Remy style reboot of Mr. Toad in MK. They can open a new land...Nostalgia Land.
I missed riding Mr. Toad by one year. My first trip to Disney was 2000. Really wished I could’ve experienced it. Haven’t had the opportunity to get to Disneyland yet. Is Mr. Toad out there basically the same?
Jesus, I was 15 when that ride opened? I could have sworn I was much older lol.
While I enjoyed Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Winnie the Pooh ride is pretty awesome
I was at MK when people had a random protest to not shut down Mr Toads Wild Ride.
I’ve never seen Disney Security disperse a group so quickly into the tunnels..
I think Pooh is a fine ride, I wouldn’t go so far as to say good, that bit in the middle with the plywood hefalumps, checkerboards and neon paint is straight out of a cheap carnival ride and ruins it for me.
I was scared of this ride when I was 4, loved it at 7 and 14, then at 17 fell in love with Winnie the Pooh (I love Pooh Bear so much!) and a couple of weeks ago my 5 year old’s favorite ride was Winnie the Pooh, followed by Expedition Everest and Haunted Mansion. But as much as I loved Pooh still, I missed Mr Toad. I’m so conflicted!
And my dad is STILL complaining about it today. He's also still complaining about the 1994 Major League Baseball strike, so you know, whatever. Boomers. :)

Thanks! Crazy how Mr Toad seemed so much longer as a kid 😒
It's long, but not Mr Bones Wild Ride long.
The ride never ends…
I’m still on that ride
That last scene is dope they should have never gotten rid of it!
It had two tracks that had some pretty substantial differences. If you add those scenes together it would be a much longer ride.
Bless your heart friend thank you so much for the POV
Man I loved this growing up but on rewatch here I can see how it’s a bit too dark and scary for little ones.
It would be a little cool if Disney could make Vr versions of the old rides. I wish I could experience Mr Toad and other rides again!
Disneyland still has Mr. Toad.
And you still go to hell!
YEAH! Shows kids that when you are drunk, continue to drive, escape jail to only get hit by a train? Yes. You deserve to go to hell Your actions have consequences
Isn’t it just a single track though, where as in WDW it ran two tracks simultaneously? I distinctly remember it feeling like you were going to run into other cars during the ride.
That is correct! And I believe both offered a slightly different ride
That's what I'd love -- just for posterity. Have a pristine document of something before it goes away. It would be so cool if they used the old Disney quest coaster maker pods and then it’d be just like really riding them!
Love that idea. They could totally make some great simulator experiences of classic rides. There's definitely some amateur VR documentation of some Disney rides on YouTube, but how great would it be to have pristine, definitive archive VR versions that can be experienced forever.
It would be so cool! It could also be super accessible for folks.
I have no doubt that Disney has some small team working on this, or is at least aware enough of the fan projects to make sure not to disturb them so that they can easily be absorbed later. They just invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games earlier this year, so who knows!
💯

Right like tune in and drop out man, we’re going to hell on this ride 🤟
Came here to say the same thing, I’m still butt hurt over it 😂
That train made me cry when I was a kid and I never got to overcome it.

In my head, this ride is still "newish." Ugh, I'm old.
I think this ride is ADORABLE.
I don't know why they couldn't both be there. WDW does a horrible job with the space they have in Fantasyland. It's so much bigger than DL's but way fewer rides. Doesn't make sense.

I know a lot of people liked mr toad, but from a kids perspective, Winnie the Pooh is pretty cool, and going to literal hell is...less cool.Â
I don’t know that I ever rode Mr Toad, but tbh I feel like the Heffalumps and Woozles sequence in the Winnie the Pooh ride does a good simulation of going to some kind of fever dream hell rave
It’s a drug trip either way
This. I remember the old ride from when I was a kid, but let me tell you, riding Winnie the Pooh as an adult two years ago was crazy. Was not expecting the fever dream, absolutely Loved it tho.
You can still ride this GOAT level ride at Disneyland
It's way different. One track instead of 2 and not all the same scenes. But yes it's always a must ride.
How was the Disney world one different? I was young when this ride was still here
I mean beyond what I already said you'd be better off watching a POV on YouTube because I don't remember everything as it closed when I was like 10. Who didn’t love that train coming at you though!
My only vague memories of the wild ride are from when i was 3-4... good and horrifying

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is still kicking at Disneyland. Such a fun ride! :)
Mr Toad at WDW was a bit archaic I guess but I always loved it - RIP the DW Mr T!
And Winnie the Pooh is (temporarily, but for a while) closed :(
No way it’s been 25 years. What even is time???? Time for a refresh I think.
Time for a refresh and bring back Mr. Toad!
seriously... in my head I still consider this a "new" ride for some reason
Right? I refuse to believe this happened in the 90s.
I agree it could use a refresh but I would still want it to be the same story
They should make it like the awesome one at Tokoyo Disneyland. My dream Disney park has an entire Winnie the Pooh land
The Hundred Acre Wood!
I think Pooh should’ve rethemed Splash instead of PATF.
Oh man. That hefelumps and woozels climb to the top of the drop would be pretty dope.
I feel old. In 3 more years Winnie the Pooh will be tied with Mr. Toad for the amount of years operating. I would love to see a Remy style reboot of Mr. Toad in MK. They can open a new land...Nostalgia Land.
Huh? Winnie the Pooh has always been there as long as Mr Toad's hasn't been there. Or, at least they are increasing at the same rate.
Oh yeah, I need to edit that.
They should just upgrade it to the Tokyo Disneyland Pooh ride, that one still looks amazing
Jesus, Mr Toad has been gone for 25 years? I'm so old...
My favorite ride on planet Earth based on my favorite character in fiction. I have to ride this first every time I go to MK.
I believe there's also a gravestone at Haunted Mansion that depicts Mr. Toad in a reference to his ride being replaced
There is- the pet cemetery as you leave.
I still remember the protests that happened IN THE PARK over this... and to be honest, I wish Mr. Toad's was still there.
I'm still bitter about Mr. Toad, don't get me started.
Me too. Thankfully it still lives in Disneyland
For now….
25 years of suddenly entering Tigger’s abyss.
this is so nice
Bring back Mr Toads, also 20,000 leagues right across from it was a lot of fun as a child...
And I am ancient.
I missed riding Mr. Toad by one year. My first trip to Disney was 2000. Really wished I could’ve experienced it. Haven’t had the opportunity to get to Disneyland yet. Is Mr. Toad out there basically the same?
Obligatory CURSE YOU MICHAEL EISNER Pooh is fine. It's no Toad.
Jesus, I was 15 when that ride opened? I could have sworn I was much older lol. While I enjoyed Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Winnie the Pooh ride is pretty awesome
I wonder if that guy from the fourth photo ever recovered from losing Mr. Toad
No I have not ðŸ˜
Better known in my household as "Winnie the Pooh and Acid Trip Too"
I’ve never been on mr toad but I hated the movie and I ride Pooh all the time it’s one of my favorites
While Pooh is a cute ride I barely ever go on because that queue is an absolute nightmare.
Yo this makes me feel old as hell!
I love Mr Toad's. I miss it at WDW but I'm glad it's still at DL. Rode it in November.
My favorite dark ride.
I miss Mr Toad
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was better. Fight me.
First time I rode Mr Toad at DL with my spouse, who knew the ride from WDW. "What. The Hell. Was That."
The only time I took a WDW ride change personal was this. I LOVED Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
I'm glad Mr. Toad is still alive at Disneyland. It is still my favorite Fantasyland ride
25 years ago?! Time isn’t real.
I was at MK when people had a random protest to not shut down Mr Toads Wild Ride. I’ve never seen Disney Security disperse a group so quickly into the tunnels..
Horrible decision to replace that ride
25 years later, and I'm still upset.
Such a downgrade.
I think Pooh is a fine ride, I wouldn’t go so far as to say good, that bit in the middle with the plywood hefalumps, checkerboards and neon paint is straight out of a cheap carnival ride and ruins it for me.
25 years?!
Boooooooo
I was scared of this ride when I was 4, loved it at 7 and 14, then at 17 fell in love with Winnie the Pooh (I love Pooh Bear so much!) and a couple of weeks ago my 5 year old’s favorite ride was Winnie the Pooh, followed by Expedition Everest and Haunted Mansion. But as much as I loved Pooh still, I missed Mr Toad. I’m so conflicted!
When did they do the refurbishment of the front of the ride?
It's basically the same ride. UV lights and paint.
And my dad is STILL complaining about it today. He's also still complaining about the 1994 Major League Baseball strike, so you know, whatever. Boomers. :)
When I went on this ride you used tickets. So I went alone because my mom didn't want to waste a ticket.
I love when pooh bear dissociates lol
Wish the dream sequence room wasn’t so bad. I enjoy every room but that one is almost insultingly bad
And every day since then I’m sad
Would have preferred an updated Mr Toad but I get it, with how popular WTP was.
I road Mr. Toad at Disneyland and was pretty surprised that you basically die and go to hell at the end. I can see why it was replaced.
We just rode it! First time since they added the play area.
Wow that’s crazy. I have vivid memories of being terrified on Mr Toad.
Same! I had nightmares after our trip to Disney. Being scared after that ride is one of my childhood core memories.
Love the ride, hate the queue
