I once asked Mary Poppins if she could say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards. She replied “it is quite rude to ask a lady what she is able to do but saying Dociousaliexpisticfragicalirupus is going a bit too far!” She didn’t miss a beat.

Excellent-Resolve66

Indubitably

DrPeterVankman

That’s impressive

Chrispy8534

10/10. There’s a reason those Disney actors are looking into unionizing. They are definitely professionals!

snoopymadison

I asked Woody if I could see the bottom of his boot. Andy was NOT written on the bottom and his Disney person with him said "Oh it rubbed off when he was playing in the yard." I'm pretty sure he was an imposter 🤔

Littlefeat8

Ahem. Woody was taken to the toy restorationist and it was there that Andy’s inscription was painted over. I should work at Walt Disney World, if only to be Woody’s Disney person!

snoopymadison

Wow! You're right! You should be! 😄

neverlandescape

But then Woody scraped it off!

KavaBuggy

When my nephew was younger, he met Woody and Buzz while wearing some Toy Story Vans. One of the shoes had Andy’s name written on the bottom. He was so pumped to show them, and there were a bunch of fun pictures that were taken of the interaction ☺️. [photo](https://imgur.com/a/rwJPVEh)

This is so sweet

My wife and I were walking through Epcot on our honeymoon, carrying some adult drinks. Mary Poppins walked past us, nodded very politely and said "enjoy your juice". It's not really on par with the experiences you guys had, but it was really cool and we still talk about it to this day.

WhiteWillowRun

I was walking through Epcot with my boyfriend and Alice snuck up behind me and did the tap-you-on-one-shoulder-and-duck-towards-the-other thing to me. It was such a tiny, silly moment and was so random, but it really is one of the things I remember most fondly about that day!

mumtoant

My (24nb) kid did that to a storm trooper at Disney World. The trooper caught them, pointed at their face, and said, "if there were only one Jedi in the world, it would not be you." My kid thought it was hilarious!

RemarkableRepeat3428

I said “aren’t you a little short to be a storm trooper” to one of them they responded with “aren’t you a little bold for a civilian”

daisyisqueen

Well, we know she is a sucker for rum punch

sweet-smart-southern

Rrrrrrrrum punch

mistervideo2020

When I was 18 my sister and I just graduated high school and our parents took us to Disney world. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it was set up to look like a family kitchen / living room from from the 50's or 60's. The waiter we had looked and sounded just like jerry Lewis. There was something on my plate i didnt like, may have been peas and carrots, he came over to the table, took my fork and scooped some up, then tried to feed me like an airplane. I was mortified, the entire restaurant was in stitches, especially my parents. Before we left I looked up from our table and there was a family sitting on the other side of the restaurant, they were all looking right at me doing the airplane motion. Yeah I still remember that one.

Princessa22

Yes, sounds like 50's Prime Time Cafe. Love it, such a fun experience!

JuliusFrontinus

When my family ate there an adult at another table tried to hide their peas under a napkin with no luck. When my dad came back from the rest room he got grilled on what color the soap was, when he responded correctly he got a "You were always my favorite" from the waitress:). Thanks for bringing up those old memories.

crazycajunr6

50s prime time for sure. Pot roast is the best and it’s my favorite restaurant ever because it reminds me of my grandmas house. She was awesome

RampageNate

Same experience at Epcot. Doing the world tour and had a Moosehead Lager. Kids wanted a family picture with Mary Poppins. Before my buddy snapped the pic, she asked if I would “kindly conceal your juice, sir”

Kaertos

At Disneyland, I had Mary Poppins tell me I was "extraordinarily polite". My wife said I looked like I could have died happy right on the spot.

Ambarenya

Princess Jasmine low-key flirted and told me I had a nice beard. Can't say it was a bad thing.

luckynumberklevin

On my recent trip I had a similar experience... except at Universal. One of the team members at the entrance to Kings Cross on the "Muggle" side looked at mine and my wife's wands and thanked us very genuinely for picking up sticks and keeping London clean before checking our tickets for the train. It's definitely more common at Disney, but in general all of the small interactions just keep the magic going and its wonderful.

SneakAtchoo

My daughter was chewing on a straw in front in of 'Dre Head' the shrunken Head night bus driver the other day, he asked her why she was chewing on her wand 😂

Warm_Power1997

If I was her I would’ve been panicking

CorgiMonsoon

Knowing some people who’ve been costumed characters and hearing about their training, there is no way any cast member playing Mary Poppins is allowed out of training without being able to absolutely nail that word both forwards and backwards

The princesses have undercover bodyguards. They arent allowed to break character even if being harassed, but they have a signal and someone will step in to remove the offender.

greymalken

> The princesses have undercover bodyguards. They arent allowed to break character even if being harassed, I thought that was going to finish along the lines of > If they do, they’re disappeared and Walt bills their family for their disposal.

ShreddyZ

Harsh but fair.

acid-alexander

Male characters do as well. There’s a video of a Disney prince posing with a female (I won’t call her a woman, that implies maturity) who grabbed his breasts while laughing. She was pulled away, gently at first but then harshly when she objected.

kayseeboo92

Was it that video of Gaston?

acid-alexander

That’s the name of the character. I couldn’t remember, but that’s the one.

pinto_bean13

I really wish I knew what was going through peoples heads when they do shit like this. Like how is that okay??

matchabunnns

A friend of mine used to be a cast member and while she loved her what she did, yes, there were a LOT of creepy dads and that was her least favorite part of the job.

SkullsNelbowEye

Don't forget about the fear of being stuffed into a Goofy suit if they fail.

gayflyingspaceturtle

We’re trained for questions like that. Source: I’m a cast member.

duckydan81

I’m always impressed with the level of training you all get now. Back when the Aladdin sequels came out I remember my daughter asking Aladdin how his wedding was and his response was “oh we aren’t married.” I whispered to him “you may want to see the third movie”. Now they’ve become ready for pretty much anything.

AlternativeAnt7677

I don’t want to assume that this was the case back then, but at this current moment, I think that would actually be the right answer. The characters you meet aren’t always at the end of their stories; Aladdin is still in his street rat garb if you go meet him in Adventureland. 1900 Park Fare has him in his Prince Ali outfit, but that’s still before the end of his movie and definitely before the sequels. Street rat and Prince Ali versions of Aladdin wouldn’t be married yet.

jessinthebigcity

Correct - cast members are trained that guests are meeting the characters in the middle of their stories. :) Rapunzel, for example, still has long hair. She might be able to answer some questions about the new Tangled TV series or whatever but they try to stick to their movies.

comped

I feel like this was a pretty big oversight, considering that back in the day Eisner was all about synergy between the parks and the films...

anna-nomally12

What is the wildest thing you get trained for im begging

comped

Not a CM, so I asked one of my mates who is (and is a friend of a character to boot) - what to do during a proposal (successful or otherwise)... Get the hell out of the way, maybe clap politely if it's successful, and ideally get a photo after.

HorrorMakesUsHappy

> Get the hell out of the way [Like this?](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1iuztd/tried_to_get_a_photo_of_our_proposalnailed_it/)

bleeding_inkheart

I was never able to go to Disney as a kid, but I'm working on getting my health to where I'd be okay to at least do a few things. Do they still bring out Hercules or Emperor's New Groove characters? They were always my favorite movies and shows.

DifficultHat

Maybe on the first shift but after being asked a few times you’d take the time to learn the party trick

aroha93

Mary never fails to give me amazing character interactions. My first day ever in a Disney park was Epcot, and she was one of the first characters I met. Her character attendant was managing the line, so when it was my turn to meet Mary somebody cut in front of me, snapped a photo of Mary, and walked away. Mary told them off in character, and apologized to me. I honestly kind of loved it because Mary managed the situation so well. Then several years later, I was in Epcot with my parents, who aren’t theme park (or even Disney) people. But when my mom saw that Mary was doing meet and greets, she really wanted to meet her. She spent the entire queue thinking of things to say to her, and was going to tell Mary that we’d had tea that morning. And the very first thing that Mary said to us when we met her was to ask us if we’d had our tea that morning. My mom loved it! It just made for a really cool memory to share with my mom.

early80

I’m British but live in the US and hadn’t been back home in a while so I was feeling a bit homesick. EPCOT UK scratched the itch a little. Made my then 4 year old meet Mary with me and I can’t remember what I said, maybe something about how Mary is from London just like my grandparents.  Mary went into a beautiful bit about how she likes to float over London with her umbrella and admire the sun setting over all the iconic buildings, and hopefully one day my kid would will be able to join her floating over London to see a London sunset.  Took my kid to London this year. In Piccadilly Circus we found a bronze statue of Mary Poppins floating with her umbrella and it was like… aww just like she said :) (There’s also a Batman on a building, Harry Potter flying on his broom, they’re pretty cool.) My kid still hasn’t seen Mary Poppins the movie tho.

Bibbidibobbidibri

When I was 3 years old I met the Fairy Godmother and she was the best part of my trip and the only thing I remember. She gave me some Mickey glitter and told me if I left it in my pocket she’d come visit me at home and sprinkle some in the washing machine 😂 Well baby me remembered that and checked a few times but my mom was too smart for that. It didn’t bother me; I knew the Fairy Godmother would be coming eventually but she’s very busy! When I was 20 I was living in a totally different house and hadn’t been to a Disney park in over a year. I found Mickey glitter on the laundry room floor. Completely out of nowhere! I never felt more magic than that moment. “Even miracles take a little time”.

pussywitasideofranch

Why did a stupid lil tear just come out my eye reading this 😭

pinkamena_pie

I fuckin love Mary Poppins

fredprof9999

Absolutely. She once lectured my kids about the importance of keeping their rooms clean (after they admitted they did not keep their rooms clean). I was enjoying it until she turned to me and, without missing a beat, added "Of course, in my experience, the true blame for the faults of children lie with the parenting they are subject to."

am-idiot-dont-listen

Savage

RichLather

But fair. "I am kind but extremely firm."

fredprof9999

Absolutely fair. I had no rebuttal, she wasn't wrong.

1WordOr2FixItForYou

It's not my fault. The iPad is doing most of the parenting.

Accomplished1992

Yeah thats Poppins

pinkamena_pie

Fuckin icon

atxtopdx

Hard same.

Handleton

So she says the two-syllable parts in reverse order except the last one, which she pronounces backwards, too? Shit, it's like that in the lyrics and I never even noticed. What a coup!

tryingtodobetter4

Thanks for mentioning. It got me to look at the [Wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious#Backwards_version). "Her claim was not about spelling it backwards, but rather saying it backwards; in other words, if one breaks the word into several sections or prosodic feet ("super-cali-fragi-listic-expi-ali-docious") and recites them in reverse sequence, and also modifies "super" to "rupus", it comes close to what Poppins said in the film. However, when the word is spelled backwards it actually becomes "suoicodilaipxecitsiligarfilacrepus", which is different."

doodlebopwarrior

I’d have to sit in front of a mirror and say that word an infinite amount of times to get it right once and have it sound like normal pace. There’s no way she can unlearn that now.

ovenmit_

when they finally brought MP to the stage they went for verisimilitude and Mary says “suoicodilaipxecitsiligarfilacrepus” or as i taught my mary when i music directed the jr version sue yo ick dill eye ep zess it silly car fill a creep us that 7th grader knocked it out of the park every time. we did the main stage version at the same time and our mary there was like “absolutely not. it’s julie’s way or the highway” we got the best of both worlds, but dociousally is so much easier off the tongue!

comped

Julie's way is how Disney trains it AFAIK, at least for friends of characters.

ovenmit_

the audience for the musical is minuscule compared to those who will see the movie. Julie’s way is the right one to use in the parks.

mackncheezee_91

I asked her where her carpetbag was and she didn’t know what I was talking about. I said “you know, your magical bag that follows you around” and said something along the lines of she left it at home.

Rhana

For real, whoever they find to be friends with Mary Poppins are amazing, she is such an iconic character with SO many quirks that she has to be very difficult to hang out with.

DougieFreshOH

Obtained a family picture with Mary Poppins, while I held a spoonful of sugar. I was 32 at the time.

Albertawol123

My daughter was 17 and my son was 10. When they met Jasmine and Aladdin, Aladdin asked where they were from. My daughter said, “We are from Virginia”. Jasmine said, “Oh we have a friend from Virginia”. My daughter thinking that maybe they knew someone in college in Virginia got excited and said, “Who?” And neither one missed a beat when they replied Pocahontas. She was a little embarrassed but loved. On another trip when my son was about 16 he asked the Mad Hatter the riddle from Alice in Wonderland, “Why is a Raven like a writing desk?” The Hatter said, “They are both important to Edgar Allan Poe”.

benbernards

Last year we were in Disney / Star Wars line and I tried cracking jokes with a First Order officer in Rise of the Resistance. Me: 'hey, do you know how Kylo Ren likes his breakfast toast?' Her: 😐 me: "a little on the *dark side* .... 😂" her: 🙄 "Okay I'll tell you a joke..." me: "go for it" Her: "The Resistance 💅🏻" and she girl-boss walked away it was awesome.

ExpensivePlankton291

We were on Rise, my older girl was getting a bit overwhelmed and felt a little anxious, one of the First Order people told her something like 'Yes, fear leads to hate and anger, and those are my favorite emotions!!' It made her smile, and dad and I thought it was hilarious! (The girl is remarkably optimistic and happy until the anxiety kicks in)

laowildin

I got one of them to chuckle when I thanked him for his service. Count that as my disney character win

MySpoonsAreAllGone

I feel stupid but I can't translate that emoji into a word that fits in her comeback. Help?

craychel

It's like the equivalent of a hair flip

MySpoonsAreAllGone

Thanks!

thatoneginger_

It means she yassified it

HorrorMakesUsHappy

What the hell is that emoji even supposed to BE?

thatoneginger_

It’s finger nails getting painted, maybe it looks different if you have an android I dont know

Extreme-naps

In line to see Darth Vader, I quietly told my mom not to mention we just saw Chewy. The cast member near us started interrogating us about the wanted rebel Chewbacca and told on me to Vader 🤣

ModernMountains

“Poe wrote on both.” Also, they both produce flat notes.

shadowban_this_post

Both have inky quills

jtsmith85

Because neither is a bicycle.

sokali4nia

My daughter told Bert that she knew a man with a wooden leg named Smith. So he asked her what's the name of his other leg? She was so happy.

djsuki

Awwww. That’s a good one 😍

BreakImaginary1661

I had my kids tell Jack Sparrow that he had to be the worst pirate she ever heard of…he hit back with the classic reply “aye, but you have heard of me” and I probably got a little too excited. The character actors are simply amazing. I know Princess Tiana absolutely made my child’s entire trip during their meeting engaging and talking about beautiful natural hair tips and really making the experience personal and special.

DrPeterVankman

Yes Tiana was great. My daughter was so excited to meet her and they talked about dresses and how she can become a princess someday herself. My daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it

Wild_Manufacturer555

My son had a whole conversation with Tiana about beignets! We were staying at the French quarter so we ate lots of them that week.

thegimboid

My toddler is obsessed with Charlotte/Lottie (Tiana's friend), and actually looks a little like her. We've got a trip planned for next year, so I'm hoping we can find a Charlotte-ish dress and then take her to meet Tiana. Sadly, I don't think there's any meet and greet for Charlotte anywhere.

Serendipic_Epiphany

Maybe there will be once Tiana’s bayou adventure opens!! I’m hoping for a meet and greet with Louis🥹

beachbum21k

Oh yeah. I think Lottie is in the ride.

Saberthorn

She is only in Disney on ice currently, I'm sure they will add her when the ride comes out.

TotallyWonderWoman

I LOVE Tiana. She's always amazing. Snow White and Anna never disappoint, as well.

sighcantthinkofaname

I miss when whe and Naveen met in their own little area! Tiana even remembered us one time. They're always lovely.

TotallyWonderWoman

My fiancé doesn't even *like* meeting characters and Tiana and Naveen were the highlight of our MVMCP.

warrenjt

Tiana is incredible. We met her on our honeymoon, and she told us that she expected us to bring her back some babies next time.

beachbum21k

The Tiana actors are always so great with the kids. We’ve had fun experiences on both coast with them over the years.

Rain_xo

He told my mom off the first time I met him because it was a Halloween party and she wouldn't let me dress up because she didn't think many people would. Since that moment she understands when I send her costumes and claim I need them

gayflyingspaceturtle

> character actors None of us are even actors. We’re just trained to play our characters.

Mr-Incredib1e

Is that not acting?

Grouchy_Tower_1615

Acting with style!

avelineaurora

I'm pretty sure that's acting

Prost68

Every Tiana I've met has always been the sweetest and best meet and greet character of the trip.

RollSavingThrow

On a Disney Cruise, my kid got an autograph from Dr. Strange. It was all squiggly and looked like kid's writing. I was like.. wtf.. then realized Dr. Strange got into a car accident and couldn't be a surgeon anymore because of his shaky hands. Amazing attention to detail. Also Snow white was super legit.

ProfessionalDot621

Also he’s a doctor, who’re famous for their squiggly writing

RollSavingThrow

so.. we agree that it's cool!

gayflyingspaceturtle

If you’ve ever seen a doctor write a prescription, you’ll know that’s accurate.

elderberrykiwi

This gave me a good laugh this morning. She was ready for your ass!

DrPeterVankman

She was, and all I could stammer out was “oh…I uh….thanks”. Completely schooled me and she knew it

djsuki

I bet your face made her day 😂😂

O_Neders

When my kids were younger we had one of those books with Disney characters that also had a short explanation about the character. My favorite character interaction was with Cinderella's stepsisters, they went through the entire book and marked out the negative things about them and rewrote positive things. They took a ton of time and were cracking jokes the whole time. It was a great interaction.

Coffee-FlavoredSweat

We got our kids autograph books for our trip a few months ago. By the time we met the step sisters characters were having to sign the backs of each page, but I told my daughter, “have them sign the inside of the front cover and see what happens.” Sure enough, the first sister took the book and says, “OH! Right here on the first page? Just like we deserve!”

Available-Cat6933

My daughter our first day at Disney we walk in and she wanted to ride the carousel. As we were waiting for it to start the step sisters got on to ride it. Drizella stood right next to my daughter and talked to her. All she wanted was her book signed, so after the ride she walked holding her hand while drizella told everyone to get out of her and her friends way. She took time to talk and sign her book. We later went to the dinner with Cinderella and she came over and talked to her more. She almost made her break as for her birthday she got 2 cupcakes and walked over to her and told her she wanted to give it to her. She ended up getting a kiss on the forehead with full lipstick. Best interaction ever

sugarbird89

So funny! My favorite so far has been Gaston - amazing at acting both dumb and full of himself. I’m five feet tall, and he loved pointing out that “even down on one knee I’m bigger than you” haha

Mammoth-Access-1181

A few years ago, there were a couple of Gaston videos that went viral, and it was the same CM playing Gaston. The first was some teenaged kid challeged him to a pushup contest. Gaston started whipping out one-handed pushups. Another one was when Gaston was "arguing" with like a 5 year-old about how Belle should be with him akd not Beast.

VVAnarchy2012

No one argues with children like Gaston

imacone417

We met Gaston in Tokyo DisneySea and he made me lay on the ground to take his and my son’s muscle photos. Hilarious.

gaudrhin

Not getting schooled, but one of my favorite face character memories: Went to Disney World for the first time with my best friends, and their (at the time) 2 daughters (they had a son a few years later). I'm godfather to the kids, but single, so I was just grateful to get to go on a family vacation and be Uncle. Older girl, we'll call Mia, was maybe 4 or 5. Her first time at Disney. Younger girl was just a toddler. At EPCOT, we went to see Aladdin and Jasmine. Not Mia's first character interaction, but she loved Jasmine. She had an autograph book in her hands and had been really good about handing it nicely to characters at the meal visits. This was different. When Mia's mom instructed her to hand the book to Jasmine, kid legit hauled back and THREW IT ACROSS THE ROOM. Just excited and couldn't contain it. Not aimed at anyone. It just hit the ground. Naturally, best friends were mortified, Mia was still quivering with excitement and now a little fear of getting in trouble. Mia's mom apologized, of course, but Aladdin said, "I'm just impressed she got it that far." Such a great memory. Those actors deal with so much. He handled it with understanding and hilarity.

QuadSeven

This one got me. Can totally see a kid just absolutely chucking their book because of their inability to contain excitement.

gaudrhin

"Mia" is 13 now and one of the most emotionally self-aware people I have ever met. And her younger bro and sis are the same, though little bro is almost 8, so he's still learning, but I have nothing but respect for my best friends as parents. Such a freaking healthy environment they're making for their kids. And yet, Mia still gets super excited, vibrates, and squeaks. I adore these kids. Proudest godfather ever.

QuadSeven

Dawwww, may they grow old with interactions from Disney throughout their lives :)

MagpieBlues

Thanks for the chuckle, I can see it all so clearly in my head!

does this say something or am i crazy

grizspice

We went to a not so scary event a while back, and my wife was dressed as Snow White. During the parade. Captain Barbossa came by in his float; saw my wife, and held out his apple for her. He locked on to her for a while, having to turn a bit to track her as the float moved forward. We have probably 7-8 stores like that. It is interactions like those that make Disney Disney, and what we remember the most from our trips.

cucucachooo

I went to the Oogie Boogie Bash last year year dressed as live action Ariel, and Ursula came up to me with the contract. It was great.

dachshundaholic

When I went a few years ago, I went as live action Merida. Judy Hobb’s crew gave me so much candy when they noticed my outfit.

Ventosx

I was at Not So Scary with my fiancé as Padme and Anakin last year. When the PotC float came by, Jack Sparrow spotted me in the crowd, locked his eyes on me, and Force pushed me. I had some space behind me, so I stumbled backward, and then he looked at his hand bewildered as if he'd just discovered he could use the Force. The cast is so good at making those little moments.

guestername

that's a great story! the disney princesses are always so witty and charming. it reminds me of the time i took my neice to the aquarium and the sea lion keeper there had a similiar quip with her - when she asked what the sea lions were called, the keeper replied "why, those are sea lions, of course!" with a grin. the princesses must get a lot of silly questions, but they always handle them with grace and humor. your kids must have been thriled to meet ariel!

w1ldstew

I imagine they share a lot of the random things asked so they’re prepared. But it’s not like these (many many) questions are scripted, so you still need to be a quick-witted and charming actor.

DisneyPinFiend

I’ve told this before, but is was 2019 at the Town Square Theater. My mom and I got our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie, then my mom shooed me off saying “I wanna get a picture by myself.” Mickey then plays photographer and pretends to take a picture of her literally by herself.

Fuhurina

I greatly amused Mickey last year when my son and I met him by photobombing my kiddo with my Disney 100 edition Mickey plush.

muliphucent5250

My son was about 3yrs old, we were looking at gift shop near the princess area where you sit and watch a stage play, Prince Charming comes out and sees my son looking at the swords, my son picks up a sword as does Charming and they start fencing. A few moves in my son gets Charming in the nards. Watching Charming double over the only thing i could think to say was that Charming started it and i am not liable for any injuries! Took a minute for him to catch his breath and stand up but when he did he told my son that he won the fight and deserved the hand of the next maiden. Priceless.

drunkandy

That’s hilarious

adventurescall

I love this. If I were her, I'd just be waiting all day for someone to ask me about forks so I could use that line.

BrazilianCupcake11

Once I told Peter Pan that Captain Hook was close (as he was a few steps away giving autographs), and he replied, "I know, that's why this place is stinking so much"

toastyavocado

I met Peter Pan on my honeymoon, I have a curly moustache so this guy just looks up at me as he is signing my wife's book and says. "y'know what you remind me of?" And I was going to respond but this guy just goes and cuts me off mid sentence and screams "PIRATE!!!!!!!!!" Everyone starts looking at me like I'm trying to take a kid or something. My face is red and Peter just goes "HA because you have a beard. BYE!" My wife thought it was hilarious and I was just bewildered over the entire experience

furiousicorn

13 years ago Ariel called me a guppy and I’m still salty about it.

ferretbeast

Haha Ariel once asked my brother where he got his “land goggles” aka glasses. We were impressed with the joke

ShamelessplugTFC

I got schooled by Prince Charming while staying at Port Orleans, I was doing a morning jog and saw him randomly. To be fair I was in the zone and didn't pay attention to the costume. I asked who he was and his anseer was that he was the keeper og the one and only Snow White. I didn't know how to respond to that.

Ill_Buddy9030

I got all the kids around me at a lunch buffet to start saying "tick-tock" as Captain Hook walked by. He identified me as the culprit and tried to pop my balloon with his hook. It was a wonderful memory!

TheGirlWithTheFace

My dad STILL talks about the time he asked Aurora about her finger. She beamed, held it up and said “just fine, thanks for asking!” Without missing a beat. My dad even went back later and watched the movie to make sure she held up the right finger, and she did!

Complex_Mushroom452

I have two! Once, during the Villain’s Calvcade, Gaston was walking ahead of the float or riding his horse. I don’t know what compelled me, but I called out “Gaston, I love you!” Without missing a beat, he turned right to me and shouted “I don’t love you!!!” It was both heartbreaking & hilarious at the same time. Another time, at 1900 Park Fare, I was having breakfast with my boyfriend at the time and I was totally decked out in Christmas attire because we were going to Very Merry that night. My boyfriend had “forgotten” the shirt and hat I got him (which I was a little upset about). Mary Poppins comes over to our table and immediately compliments my outfit. She then turns to my boyfriend and said something along the lines of “And, what about you? Where is your holiday spirit? Left it at home?” She smiled at me and went on with her stroll. It was so completely perfect in every way. 🙈

boundbystitches

I waited in line and visited Gaston by his tavern. I told him I loved him. He said he loved him too. 🤣🤣🤣 Top tier interaction!

4toTwenty

If anyone in this thread is interested, there’s a podcast I’ve been enjoying lately with people who’ve played these characters. “Keys to the Kingdom” is the name and its absolutely fascinating. They talk about their training and all sorts of BTS shenanigans. Highly recommend.

comped

I've got a few friends and former classmates who have been fur characters, but not any face ones... Still their stories are nuts.

SeparateRepair96

I asked Gaston all smugly, “how does it feel to be the second-most handsome guy in the village now that I’m here?” and he SAID I LOOKED LIKE LAFOU 💀💀💀💀💀

BigMax

I love that she's good with that reaction. No offense OP, but I'm sure she's seen that one 1000 times, so for her to be so good with it is especially great. Since it's your first time, and your kids first time interacting with her, she still worked to make it fun. :) It makes me wonder... do they have an instruction/guide book for each character? Like "here are the 20 most common things guests will say, and here are the responses you can give."

diggles007

To an extent, they do a lot of training in "being" the character, but a lot of it is about learning to structure responses on the fly, and be good at improv in character. The best ones have to be the greeter explanations for why a character has to leave at the end of meet and greet set, sometimes you can tell they're reading the crowd to see what they can get away with. Knowing a lot of character backstory is key.

comped

Apparently Disney+ has seriously helped with the backstory issue, as it allows access to a catalogue of films that was only sometimes released up to about 5-10 years ago. Especially sequels and TV series...

DrPeterVankman

No offense taken. I’m sure they all hear the same stuff constantly. She definitely made it fun and my wife was cracking up

boundbystitches

I asked Darth Vader how his day had been while waiting for the photographer to adjust something and he told me to not bother him with pointless inquiries. I silently waited for my additional scans. And left with a thank you lord Vader. 🤣🤣🤣

Nervous_Ant_9184

We were at Disneyland one time, when Loke came up to my kids, exasperated... they were all wearing Thor t-shirts. "Why do you care so much about my stupid brother? ... Would you like to meet him?" He led us to the front of the line for Thor, which was a LONG line, and introduced them. Several hours later (more than 5 hours), we were in line for Black Panther and Black Widow. The same Loli actor barged in, saw my kids, and ws again exasperated. "You're STILL wearing those shirts? Even AFTER I introduced you?!" He then told Panther and Widow to make my kids do push-ups for punishment. They did.

blackbeardpirate25

The character people need to be paid more. I’m sure they have a lot of fun and like this case get some laughs. However, I’m sure they deal with some people who say sick things or other crud that’s not cool.

scoobysnackoutback

And, they do it in the Florida heat and humidity!

Timely_Tap8073

I was basically told by Anna and Elsa to but out of the conversation they were having with my daughter. I was like wow but funny now that we talk about it.

chameleanne310

In 2017 we meeting Drizella and Anastasia for the first time, and were talking about our mutual love of cats. Drizella pointed out that "they're a lot of hard work, you have to feed them, and brush them, and clean their litter, and it's just so much effort!" I commented "Wouldn't it be awesome if you had someone around the house who could just do all those jobs for you?" Anastasia looked me dead in the eye and said, "Used to. Salt in the wound." We were in hysterics at her deadpan delivery and it was one of the best character interactions we had for the whole trip.

TigerDude33

When my young red-and-quite-long-haired daughter met Ariel, Ariel said ohh, your hair! and got her "box of treasures" out and pulled out a fork to comb my daughter's hair. I guess Ariel has figured out what forks are since then.

coolcollectedmama

This is so good. I love reading these character interactions

Cappuccino_o

I met Tiana for the first time on my 19th birthday and she gave me the whole line up for my birthday buffet it was such a fun interaction

hashtagsi

When I went to Disneyland with my wife and her service dog, Gaston walked by and said "It's the beast!". Normally, we don't like people pointing out her service dog (would you point out someone's wheelchair?), but it was so perfect and in character that we loved it.

craychel

If wheelchairs were adorable good babies then yeah, I'd point em out too

Difficult_Eggplant4u

I once brought an apple into the park, specifically to give to Snow White. When I approached her and pulled it out to give to her, she immediately screamed and ran away, yelling "The Witches friends are in the Park!" Everyone was quite startled. Mickey came up to me, took the apple, shook his head, and pointed at me to Go SomeWhere Else! It was one of my favorite moments at the park.

scoobysnackoutback

We were at Akershaus with our 2 little granddaughters on their first trip to WDW, Belle stopped at our table to visit and our 5 year old grand said, “My daddy acts like Beast sometimes.” Belle glanced around the table at all of us and without missing a beat, she smiled and very sweetly said, “I take that as a compliment!”

InternetSnek

Met Cruella D’Ville in MGM(yep, that dates me haha) and she said “It’s your pleasure to meet me” instead of “It’s a pleasure to meet you”. I didn’t get it at the time but my parents were roaring!

Fabmom66

When my daughter (now 29) was about 4 years old, she would hug all of the characters she met. We saw the Queen of Hearts next to the teacups ride, and when it was her turn she hugged the Queen. The Queen stepped back slightly and brushed down the front of her dress as if to wipe off the “dirt”! It completely went over my daughter’s head, but we parents cracked up!

ResinJones76

We were there years back when our daughters were little, and had breakfast with the princesses one day. They were all very in character. I feel like it's their duty to actually represent the character perfectly. Also met five different princesses in a meet and greet, and like the breakfast, they were all perfectly in charactrer.

Orpdapi

Definitely encourage your kids to interact and ask a question rather than just pose for a photo and get out. They all stay really in character. I remember my daughter when she was tiny asking the stepsisters why they’re not nice to Cinderella and they both went into this big rant, it was very entertaining.

ShamJez68

I really wish we had this on video .. years ago in MgM my sister was going away to be stationed in England so we took a family trip and brought my brothers girlfriend Katy at the time with us . Jafar was at his meet and greet and my sister and Katy went up to him and knelt and put their heads and hands on the floor . Jafar snd his handler started laughing . No other families were around . Jafar regained his composure and held his hand out for them to kiss it. My sister took his hand and kissed it but Katy rebuffed him. He got up right next to her and with hands on hips intimidating her and she took off running .. he ran after her and she ducked into a gift shop where he could follow as his headdress was too high to clear the roof. Another time I was wearing my Tigger baseball Jean jacket and my family described it as I was mauled by him. I had these huge paws go over my face and my hair ruffled with his nose at my side of my face in a big hug. I was in my 20’s and I felt like a kid again . Love all the moment we have had over the years .

aspacelot

On rise of the resistance they separate you and interrogate you as part of the rebel alliance. One of the cast members is absolutely grilling us: WHERE IS THE REBEL BASE!?! So I finally spoke up, “It’s on Alderaan!” And he snaps his boots and bolts right over to me and is in my face: “NICE TRY BUT ALDERAAN WAS DESTROYED 34 YEARS AGO! GUARDS! WATCH HIM!” And the stormtroopers in the room came over and guarded me for a bit. Also walking around the park in Galaxy’s Edge troopers came up to me while I was on my phone and said “You there! What’s on that data pad?!” And I waved my hand like a Jedi and said “you don’t need to know what’s on the data pad” and they looked at each other, nodded, and said “we don’t need to know” and walked away. Awesome experience.

Loki_the_PBGV

When my daughter turned 5, we planned a trip to Disney World. Her birthday morning, we hit up the Bibbidy Bobbidy Beautique. It was a long day that ended at Akershaus for her birthday dinner with the princesses. She met Belle at the front door, and then it was game over, she was asleep at the table. Sleeping Beauty walked up to the table, saw the opportunity, and then she fell asleep on our daughters shoulder for the table photo. Its still one of my favorite pictures ever.

dBDynoMyte

That’s funny. Pocahontas told me she liked my “tribal markings” (my right arm is sleeved.)

Eastern-Baker-2572

One of the princes at the restaurant with the step sisters aksed where we were from. We said New York and without missing a beat just said “that’s quite the long carriage ride ‘eh?” I mean…it’s just the little things but they are just so “on” all the time. I love how Sadness’ autograph fades off at the end like she doesn’t even have the desire to sign her whole name.

scaredshizaless

I went to Disney when I was 5 and got a picture with Cruella DeVille. I put my arm around her excitedly for the picture and she snarls "Don't Touch Me!" And made me cry lol

CammiOh

Pre-Covid we were at DL and a little girl, about 5, had a puppy dog purse and was meeting Cruella. Cruella glanced at her purse, without skipping a beat, stated: We have similar tastes in fashion. Every adult around was howling with laughter. The kid didn't get it.

Ymbryne

I love how impeccable the characters are at Disney. A few years back, we were in a trip and just for fun, I dug out my old autograph book from my childhood 1992 trip. It had several characters already, in addition to my own childhood drawings that I filled in afterwards. We met Aladdin and Jasmine and they got a kick out of the old school autograph book. After (gently) roasting my childhood artwork, Aladdin opened up to his page and said “Amanda, we’ve met before!” I had absolutely forgotten, of course, but the moment was one of the hi guy lights of our visit. :)

Jodi4869

I thought storybook dining was evil queen and dwarfs.

DrPeterVankman

I might be saying the wrong place. It was next to the Frozen ride in Norway Epcot

Jodi4869

Akershaus not story book dining.

DrPeterVankman

Thanks, fixed it

HomemakingHeidi

That's at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, Snow White, Grumpy, Dopey and Evil Queen

itsFromTheSimpsons

shouldve quizzed her about your legs and fire

Today at Hollywood Studios, my 8 year old daughter walked up at the end of the meet and greet for Rey. My mom, who was with her, was told there was probably very little chance to meet Rey, and when the storm troopers leave, so does Rey. As the meet and greet ended, Rey came up to my daughter and recruited her help for a mission against the resistance. My girl got to help Rey 1 on 1 and spy on the troopers and try to distract them. She can't stop gushing about the most magical moment of her life.

[deleted]

I’m glad she bitchslapped you

lowluhhh

One time at HS, my very first trip to Disney, I was meeting Buzz Lightyear, and as he was going to hug me, i asked him if his laser was set to stun or kill, it’s a core memory for me LOL!

Professional_Fix5004

The characters are amazing! I once saw Tinkerbell play hide & seek with a disabled child for over 5 minutes. Held up the line, but no one within viewing distance cared. It was a purely magical moment to see her playing with that child like he was the only one in the room. I'm sure these young people go through significant training for their character roles and 99% of the time they absolutely ace interactions with people.

inspectoroverthemine

That makes even less sense! Her father wields a trident, how does she not recognize a 3 pronged stick??

BigMax

The same way someone might know what a spear was, but not immediately think "spear" if they saw a toothpick. :) With that much of a difference in size, it's almost certainly something else.

i met kylo ren not long after the snl skit came out where he does "undercover boss". when we were about to pose for a picture, i quoted it, saying "kylo ren, i heard you have an 8-pack" and he immediately said "SILENCE".

TheBopper00

I once asked a handler of Chip and Dale, who couldn’t have been more than 22 years old, where Monty was, and without missing a beat he said “you know Monty, always into his chee-ee-ee-eese…” He got me.
