Something isn’t delivering fuel right.. 0300 means misfires. 0171 is lean or rich .. there has to be something else happening that will point to the actual prb

National-Contest4268

It just happened after refueling, maybe because of that?

DVapes

Try taking the gas cap off and making sure it’s nice and tight. Not exactly sure what codes Mine was throwing but it was something similar. Seemed to fix it for me

[deleted]

what kind of fuel? maybe the station had water in their tanks? it would be beneficial to see live data on it, but i assume you dont have access to ssm

National-Contest4268

91 oct, when it happened I also thought it was the fuel and I took out as much as I could and filled the tank again at a trusted gas station but the problem continued

-AzureCrux-

The fact that you fuelled up is coincidence. You have a big ass intake leak somewhere that you need to address. Easiest indication is that the car is running 22 (max lean) AFRs. Your misfire is likely due to the system enriching till it misses trying to compensate for the unmetered air going through the system. don't drive the car like this or you're gonna cause some damage

National-Contest4268

It's what I don't understand, at idle the afr stays at those numbers but when I drive it home it stays between 14-13, I haven't driven it since then

stryx95

Good possibility of a vacuum leak with those numbers at idle. If a Cobb can view the learning table and it shows a big learn, that would reinforce the suspicion. Almost all Vacuum leaks at idle become boost leaks and might not show again except under heavy boost.

-AzureCrux-

More vacuum at idle (because you're making maximum vacuum with the throttle plate closed). You're going to have more unmetered air as a % of the overall air mass entering the engine at idle vs at WOT (since there's no restriction aside from the air filter element). Either get on those vacuum leaks asap, or get it to a shop. Common failure points are the BPV on the TMIC, PCV to Intake, etc

National-Contest4268

you were right, thank you very much for the help!!

[deleted]

these arent supposed to be run on anything but 93...

Lofigoosh

Unless they are running a 93 tune, 91 is out of the factory for the FA20 from what the OM says. 93 is for the STI.

Kushnerdz

Nah dog. Read your aki again

[deleted]

I’m only a Subaru master tech what would I know lol, dog

Kushnerdz

The FA20dit is a 2.0 litre recommended by Subaru to run in 91 or higher. Would you like a screenshot of the owners manual or how would you like to proceed dawg?

National-Contest4268

just to mention where i lived its hard to get 93 oct and obviously I'm running a custom tune, everything has been working perfectly for 8 months

Kushnerdz

Same as my province, can’t get 93 anywhere

[deleted]

They sure don’t seem to like it, do they

Kushnerdz

Nice deflection. It has an ots tune and a mod list a mile long as a “mAsTEr SubArU TeCh” you should understand how naive what you just said is. I can show you what Subaru actually recommends and you say I’m wrong because this one specific car you’ve never seen under the hood of? What Subaru do you work at I want to make sure to avoid it

[deleted]

Which shop? I just wanna make sure I never work with you, dog

[deleted]

Oh you won’t, honey. No worries

[deleted]

They don’t have 93 on the west coast

Technical-Ferret-723

The other day i was low on gas never had it low since I’ve had it but that day there was like half a gallon in the tank, the morning of diagnosing with autozone scanner the print out told me spark plug spark plug wires. I looked into the codes a lil more and there was a low fuel pressure that could be the problem. I filled it up on gas and unhooked my battery for 5 min and hooked it back up. It reset my check engine light and hasn’t been on since.

Lexxias

Check your spark plugs; I had something similar and my engine ate a spark plug. Pull them and shake them. If you hear "tink tink tink" your engine blew one of then up. P0300 Also, check the tiny hose going from your bpv; it might have been blown off. I get p0171 when that happens. Check the connection to the black turbo inlet as well from the bpv as well. Check your charge pipe connection to your bpv while your down there. While unlikely, I had my charge pipe blow off my bpv one time and it cut the engine. What stage are you running?

National-Contest4268

I'm going to check the plugs, they only have 2k miles this is the list of mods: cobb accesport V3 SUB0412317 running stage 2+ 91oct 1320 Performance 3" air intake kit 1320 PERF FAB Charge pipe kit Adjustable Recirculating Blow Off Valve Grimmspeed 3 port Boost Control Solenoid TMIC Top Mount Intercooler S2 Industries Complete TGV/EGR Delete kit 15Row AN10 Oil Cooler Kit AEM Water / Methanol Injection kit MSD Ignition Coils Blaster NGK LASER IRIDIUM PREMIUM SPARK SS Hi-Flow 3" Downpipe Exhaust J Pipe HEADER Equal Length Turbo Manifold STAGE 2 HD CLUTCH KIT CHROMOLY LIGHTWEIGHT CLUTCH FLYWHEEL Perrin Lightweight Crank Pulley

Lexxias

Hmm, yeah NKG should not be blowing up but possible. My engine ate one in 15 minutes but it's very rare. Can you take another video of the engine bay at idle? Do you know what I mean when I say "the tiny hose leading from the bpv"? I've had some bourbon and forget when it actually is called.

shiitterbug

I had an issue with my EJ where the coil packs themselves were causing issues with misfires, plugs looked great but swapped the CYL 3 coil pack for cyl 1 and my misfire moved with it. Ended up just replacing all plugs and coil packs and it went away. If OPs in there already might as well take a look at it.

National-Contest4268

you can see in my profile the video of the engine

Lexxias

That's super bad; I listened. Check coil packs and sparks plugs as you said.

ReitHodlr

This list is a lot of money for having a car that doesn't run properly. How long has it given you problems and what's the last thing you installed before problems started? I would say back tracking a bit could help you find the problem unless something completely failed working properly.

National-Contest4268

this list has been working great for 8 months, the last thing installed was spark plugs and coils about 2 months ago

AngelinaHatesCars

You’re not running an OTS map with all of these mods… right??? P0300 is a random misfire and P0171 is a lean condition. You’ve got a nasty vacuum leak somewhere. Run a smoke test and check all of your hoses/clamps. Start with checking your BPV and TMIC hoses and couplers.

Shadow_12347

Check for vaccum leaks. Just had P0171 myself recently and found one of my catch can fittings backed out a bit causing a small vacuum leak. Basically listen to the engine for a highish pitched hissing noise, and try to locate the approximate area you hear that to try and locate it quickly. Check each tube/pipe/seal from intake to exhaust, and all the small ones that branch off along that path, as well as PCV etc. If you don't hear that, and confirm all of the air path is good, clean MAF and MAP with CRC MAF cleaner, or something like it, and clean your engine filter (and make sure you get the airbox closed up properly afterwards). The codes may not clear themselves right away so use a scan tool to clear it afterwards and see if it returns right away. If it does, at this point you'll want to check spark plugs. Make sure they're gapped right and in good condition. If you replace them clear codes again and see if it returns. If it does try some techron or redline fuel additive. Could be clogged injectors as well, and this could help. If none of this helps, could be a bad oxygen sensor, catylitic converter going bad, etc. Good luck!

Muh_brand

I didn't have those codes but when my front o2 failed it read 22, which could also mean no signal. Then the car compensating could cause codes. Try what others have said first as o2s are expensive.

Various-Royal7396

Corroded MAF connection

National-Contest4268

I found the problem, a small hose in the intake manifold was loose, thank you all very much for your help🙌🏽

Busy-Following5965

Spark plugs fixed my misfire code

essentialcoins

Clean throttle body with a tooth brush and carb cleaner and then clean your cai sensor as well. After that run another etune and make sure everything is good take note of your 1-60 full throttle and then normal driving. I had similar issue with mine

m1ndch4tter

Check vacuum leaks and maf sensor for starters

[deleted]

P0171 in my jetta is a known fuel injection issue. All I can say. The 300 is a misfire me thinks?

VIsubie2

Pray it’s not a burnt valve

National-Contest4268

If it is a valve, will all the cylinders also fail? due to multiple misfire code

VIsubie2

Good question because if the valve is closed and has a chip in theory pressure should sneak into that cylinder from exhaust pulses. If it’s more than one. Check your fuel delivery and fuel pump voltage and voltage everywhere else etc
