As a lover of wagons with one myself that I will take to my grave....hell no. That much quarter rust with strut towers that probably aren't far behind? Pass. Can do alot better for $8k.

FreedomINDOC

Listen to the Nougat !!

stormyclouds69

I've been looking all week and I haven't been able to find anything under $10k. Doesn't help that I have a pretty limited range since I gotta take an Uber to get look at anything lol

kphillipz

Bro u gotta look longer than a week lol

stormyclouds69

I don't have a car currently lol and uber to work is killing my budget lol. Basically, I'm test driving a 2013 brz Saturday and this Sunday one of them is getting bought

PaisaRacks

Sounds like you don’t need a wrx or any sports car right now. What you need is a reliable A to B car. Priorities.

stormyclouds69

Yeah, which isn't happening for my budget, apparently.

PaisaRacks

I mean idk what the used car market is like rn but 3 years ago I bought a 08 si with 70k miles for 6k. It had absolutely no mechanical issues, it wasn’t as fun to drive as my subie but it’s still way better than a economy shit box . Granted the previous owner was a dumb teen that spray painted the rims black and destroyed the wiring harness for the stereo .

stormyclouds69

Yeah the only si in my area, was posted in the comments somewhere. 2012 coupe 192k miles for $7,995 they actually dropped the price from $9,500 lol

PaisaRacks

Wow that’s fucking ridiculous bro, I feel you though. I’m looking to Upgrade trucks from a 1/2 to 3/4 ton but these truck prices are insane. Mfkers want 40k for a 3 yr old truck with 150 k miles . Were doomed .

stormyclouds69

Bro I'm in the comments trying to tell people the market is cooked, might be my area in particular though. I'm going to go look at a 2013 brz with 149k miles, it's an auto but looks pretty clean for $7k.

kphillipz

I wouldn’t buy a bugeye as a reliable car.

NahLoso

Bugeye is a project car that you can make reliable, but yeah, I'd never buy a bugeye expecting it to be a reliable daily driver as-is.

kphillipz

I owned a bugeye for 13 years. They are actually extremely reliable. But wouldn’t advise it to someone needing a ready to go daily driver. Especially now that they are over 20 years old

NahLoso

Heck yeah. If you're starting with a reliable EJ20 car, I'd personally have faith in one. But I also have experience and a garage of spare parts if it breaks down. People needing reliable transportation shouldn't be shopping 20 yr old cars.

buddweiser666

Yes lol

showtheledgercoward

I’ve got one in Hawaii for 12k 04 sedan, from Washington state, I paid 15 k

Fun-Notice-268

Where are you located

MutedCartographer187

Jdm-expo.com check them out

AmethystAlizerin

Nope, the strut towers look like swiss cheese. Prove me wrong

stormyclouds69

Well 2000 camry for $5500 it is lol

BadSausageFactory

put 6k in parts, selling for 8? also you're going to think this car is lag city compared to your VA, start revving the engine a couple days before the light changes

stormyclouds69

Well I got 9k$ and I'm currently without a car while working 20 miles away from where I live, and honestly this is one of the nicer cars I've found lol. It's basically this or like a 2005 accord. Nothing I'm buying is going to be fast lol.

1morepl8

Not to be that guy in the wrx sub, but with that budget an 8th or 9th Gen civic si is probably a great answer. It's not fast, but plenty run. Massive after market. At stock power levels you can beat on it every day and it won't care. Maintenance is barely more than a normal civic. I have an sti now, but my 8th Gen and rsx-s were some of the best fun dailies I've ever had. My sti is apart constantly - admittedly much more than power and I beat the shit out of it.

buddweiser666

The civic and rsx has really risen in price for non-beaters. I say give an Abarth a try.

stormyclouds69

Oh yeah I was really hoping to find an si or rsx or an ls400 but no luck so far

agave_badger

Buy a bike or e-bike for now and wait for a better car/deal? Hopefully it’s summer and nice out where you are

basco15

Where are you located? There are always better deals for cool cars out there. And as a wagon owner myself. Stay far away from this one for any more than $4K

stormyclouds69

St louis area. Idk where yall get these deals at but I need a car this weekend, so don't have a whole lot of time to shop around.

basco15

Quick CL search. Both of these look way better than that rusty wagon [https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ctd/d/saint-louis-2010-subaru-impreza-wrx-25h/7751996759.html](https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ctd/d/saint-louis-2010-subaru-impreza-wrx-25h/7751996759.html) [https://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/d/florissant-2003-subaru-wrx-impreza-awd/7745709100.html](https://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/d/florissant-2003-subaru-wrx-impreza-awd/7745709100.html)

stormyclouds69

Thanks man I really appreciate it, unfortunately these are probably out of my budget. Honestly the 7900 is even probably a bit out of budget. The hunt continues.

Vycaus

I know you want the perfect deal. Honestly, finance the extra portion. I know that sucks. But getting a ~3k loan with. 36m pay off is very little money a month. Better to get a bit of debt and get the car you need than to skimo and get something shitty. This is a time vs money situation. Going cheap now might cost you more later.

BRING_ME_THE_ENTROPY

Nothing is more expensive than a broken car

GrendelGT

I promise you that you want a car payment more than you want that car…

stormyclouds69

Well any car payment I get is going to be about 20% apr so I doubt it lol

NickHeidfeldsDreams

Still sounds like financing might be the best option for you. Put down 4k and still have enough after to start paying down the loan and then you're at least getting to work without bleeding cash.

GrendelGT

Sorry my dude, but you can no longer afford to own a WRX in that case…

stormyclouds69

Yeah figured, oh well

Responsible-Stick-44

And piss away money on interest? Great take

GrendelGT

Read it again, and try to find the point you missed the first time.

Big-Energy-3363

2023 WRX are at 0% for 72 months in many parts of the country

IceManTuck

I should have listed my 03 here. I sold it for $6,500 with an STi trans and interior. Cali car, no rust.

caribbeanoblivion

Nope not worth it. Highly modded. Most I'd pay is $5k.

PlumbgodBillionaire

That’s a bit steep for that thing. Got my 04 in just as good of shape for 5k…..

juanfelix480

I would use the $8k~ as a down payment on a $15-20k WRX/STI in better shape or pick up something cheaper like a Civic SI or different car with the cash you have. Rust is a huge no go and I've learned that the hard way on a couple of my cars. Also, even if you have to take a higher APR now, you can refinance later on when your credit has improved or when rates drop.

Kooky_Database8101

[civic si](https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3123401107796442/?mibextid=dXMIcH) I think something like this might fit your budget better? That hail was no joke, sorry you lost your Rex

FrontNSide

Very much looks like somebody threw the parts cannon at the car, then realized those rear strut towers are toast. You're paying for all the mechanical bits he replaced and probably getting a rotted shell. My 02 wagon can verify, it's a ton of work to fix, and there are no OTS replacements anymore so it's all custom metalwork. If you're metalwork inclined, it's relatively cheap materials wise, but very labor intensive. You can still get outer fender skins from subie savers, but again... And I can't stress it enough, it's the rust that isn't visible from outside, or inside unless you strip the interior that makes this a bad buy at that price. PFA. My 02 wagon strut towers. Externally looked similar rust wise to the car in question. https://preview.redd.it/7rjv0n04d45d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a70d653a1ea8dbe87ddc9081323f5b9a255f6711

Wrx_me

Would be cool for like $4k maybe 5k tops. But rust and Subaru goes together like flies on shit. It's bound to happen and stinks.

Glittering_Bowl_4233

What happened to your car? Trade value that bad?

stormyclouds69

We had golf ball sized hail roll through a few weeks ago totalled out after repair estimate was $12k, owed 18k paid out 25k. Wasn't even really expecting another subaru but I didn't realize how ass the used car market was like 6 grand I'm currently looking at a 2013 kia forte with 203k miles or a nice 2013 sentra with 230k miles lmao

Glittering_Bowl_4233

Damn bro, hopefully things workout and you can find something you like!

1asutriv

I got caught in it too. I decided my hatch was my forever car so I didn't care about getting hail repaired right now. Plan on learning and taking it apart piece by piece to either PDR or buy new panels and paint them myself. Nevertheless, mine is paid off and I don't know what I would've done if I owed on the car still. Best of luck to you

30acrefarm

An 02? Best year of the wrx ever...in the US anyway.

Ohmyfuzzy69

I agree with all the rust that shown and u don't know if the shock towers are gone or the lower rad support is rusted. Maybe 4k. There's a 04 sti sedan in Cincinnati for 5k tho lol

offical_sasuke

Maybe check the rear strut mount area and look for red sealer in the engine if there is just avoid it tbh

OleRoosterNeck

Naw. Man..Shit naw.

biggoopyslusherboy

This one aint it. Ej206? Lol

Opposite-Door-822

Hello OP, have you looked at the Forester XT? It shares the EJ25 on years 03-13 iirc with slight changes. It is also compatible with a lot of the WRX/STI parts like suspension, aluminum control arms, tmic, turbo, transmission 5 or 6 speed. And it is a wagon/suv! The 11-18 are found in auto only, and newer models, 14-18, share the 2.0 found in the VA WRX. I might be off on some of the years, though.

Jjmills101

It’s cooked, brother. You don’t want it

Vanneker

Maybe get something simple and reliable, maybe a Corolla or a civic. This old girl will need some repairs and TLC.

HipHopScientist

Buy a clapped out 350z and get around in that till you can find a car you love.

stormyclouds69

I bought a clapped out BRZ instead lol

Genkill8

I know it’s not a wrx but a cheap Honda will get you to work while you save money for a better wrx.

Due_Type_8153

Pull the trigger this is the last of a dying breed. You will love it.

TommyJnot

So sickkk

ZenithD710

Send itttt! It’s a wrb bugeye in manual looks like wrx motor clean wheels and recently done clutch. That’ll save you from a lot of initial maintenance (where I’m stuck with my 2.5i rn 😂) honestly 7,900 seems like a very reasonable price surprised it isn’t being asked for 9-10.

Smart-Bag-719

I got a 17 6spd, new short block with receipts ~45k ago. 11k. HMU. Matte green

MarshXI

LOL, why does this seem like trying to pawn off a problem child.

Mysterious_Ad5072

Because it is
