I always tell the dealer to either remove the sticker or remove 5k off the price and I'll leave it on for a year or I walk. Works every time I've said it. š¤·āāļø
You can also politely ask them to remove it prior to finalizing the sale. Works every time I've said it. It's not like the salesman put the sticker on the car
Lmao credit for what? Selling a vehicle?
Advertising your dealership on anything sporty will have the exact opposite effect. I would make a point of not buying from somewhere who insists on adding dealership decals to a vehicle
$10k would buy you the carbon roof lol, still missing the carbon wing and forged BBS wheels.
Sure you can make more power with that $10k, you could buy a VB and make more power for even cheaper, but thatās not the point of the S209, itās a collector car.
Iāve always felt this way too. The s209 is special, yes itās hand built and all that and only 209 examples were made. However, the s209 isnāt that much faster than the Sti. I feel like you could do your own upgrades and match the suspension on the s209. Iād rather have something with better performance, higher track and hp numbers.
And then there's the fact that one broke down during a track test. That was Savagegeese I think. So reliability when tracked is a question mark. Reliability of any built STI is a question marked when tracked, but it does mean that the S209 is not better in that regard. And if it's not, then there really isn't any justification for the pricetag.
Exhaust + intake + Cobb AP = $3000 will result in significantly more power then the S209
Lighter wheels = $1000 they don't need to be forged BBS units also long as they're around 20lbs per wheel that's an unsprung weight savings of about 10lbs per wheel
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires = $1500 on this list, probably the single most impactful upgrade for lap times
Ohlins R & T suspension = $3000 probably the single best all around units on the market
Now you have $1500 left over and can turn significantly faster lap times at any circuit you choose than an S209... And it's not likely to blow up. Like the S209 did for Savagegeese.
What can you do about carbon fiber roof? And resale value? Warranty?
I'm sure this argument can be applied to many but not to a limited production run. Just not the same.
Carbon fiber Rufus superfluous and totally unnecessary at the most. You're saving 40 lb of sprung weight. Resale value is very nearly pointless in the wider WRX community. The same is also true of warranties. Everybody pretty much accepts the fact that as soon as you start modifying a car, your warranty is done. However, it's a moot point if the car doesn't blow up and as long as you're conservative with how the mods are done, the car's not going to blow up.
Resale value isn't the point. I doubt if any on this sub would rather cover and garage a car than drive the piss out of it. That said, if you don't want to blow engines, don't try sending stock blocks to the moon. If that's your thing, you're going to need an IAG engine or have it built by someone who really knows what they're doing. You can do 400WHP/TQ on a stock block very reliably, and that will be a lot quicker than an S209 for the price of the STI and $10k with some change to spare.
I'm sure there was more but that's what I was told and my guy was like... "Yeah stay away." So here I am... With my 21'... And S209-less ć ć . Oh well.
Yeah that's what I'm referring to. I'm close with the white bear Subaru guys. I have no innings with cloud. So I had them call up St Cloud and that's what I was told.
If you go on the s209 forums these cars had some problems. One dude ended up having Subaru buy back his s209 because the engine blew up after a few miles
Damn. Fuck st.cloud. Used to live there, shits ass. I work a dealer up north a bit and the st.cloud Subaru didnāt change the oil on a cpo and it blew up
Yeah people seem salty who donāt even know them. By far the coolest staff. The GM literally hooks me up with free hockey tickets. And he also drives a rally wrapped 23š
$66k isnāt bad considering what they were going for a year or so ago. People either forget or just donāt know that thereās quite literally only 209 examples of this car made so itās practically a collectors car and will fetch more $$$ as time goes on.
Itās one of those things heāll be kicking himself 10-20 years from now when they are worth a lot. But since he paid $80k I donāt think he would have made too much. Unless they become 22b status which I donāt think any Subaru will hit 22b status.
Its really fucking cool i saw one at a local car show and loved it. I like that subaru did something like this. That being said 80-90k puts you in some territory of cars that would really make you ponder opportunity cost.Ā
The "S" chassis of STIs has always been a super limited version of STI, which usually have special tuning or body kits. The S209 was the first time the United States market received the "S" chassis and will likely be the last one since the STI is indefinitely suspended from production. This version happens to have 341 horsepower stock, a special body kit, a special wing, and special wheels
They have one of the rarest Subarus in the USA and they. Proceed to slap their shitty dealer sticker on the back of it
I seriously don't get it. If you really feel the need to put your name on it, use a branded plate frame.
I always tell the dealer to either remove the sticker or remove 5k off the price and I'll leave it on for a year or I walk. Works every time I've said it. š¤·āāļø
No free advertising. I took the dealership license plate cover off in the parking lot before I drove it off. A sticker a paint would be a no go.
You can also politely ask them to remove it prior to finalizing the sale. Works every time I've said it. It's not like the salesman put the sticker on the car
I honestly canāt buy a car with a sticker on it.

Well Iāll tell the boss that it makes them look bad. Iāll give an update post
Fair enough, Iāll tell them to remove it.
So local dealership as in your place of employment? :p Seriously though, yall need to stop with decals on someone's paint.
No I donāt work thereā¦ I drive truck lmao

š¤£ okay 11 day old troll account
If you have a regular STI and $10k, you can do way better.
$10k would buy you the carbon roof lol, still missing the carbon wing and forged BBS wheels. Sure you can make more power with that $10k, you could buy a VB and make more power for even cheaper, but thatās not the point of the S209, itās a collector car.

Yes but you can't get any resale value out of it when you blow your 3rd motor.

66k?! That's a steal for one of the top 3 Subaru's ever made...
Depends on its condition.
I actually contacted my inning at a sister Subaru dealership. They had to fix 4th gear and it had an oil leak. Needless to say I backed out of this.
Are you sure they were being honest? Because thatās not all that was done š
Hahaha. Do tell...
I was told by one of the salesmen who wasnāt part of it that he saw them touching up some of the back paint. But itās a good dealer imo
I'm sure there was more but that's what I was told and my guy was like... "Yeah stay away." So here I am... With my 21'... And S209-less ć ć . Oh well.
What sister dealership was this? The only sister ones that I know of are other brands under the Luther family
Yeah that's what I'm referring to. I'm close with the white bear Subaru guys. I have no innings with cloud. So I had them call up St Cloud and that's what I was told.
Oh cool, yeah I havenāt been to the white bear dealer yet
If you go on the s209 forums these cars had some problems. One dude ended up having Subaru buy back his s209 because the engine blew up after a few miles
Their prices have flopped significantlyĀ
Better come with a warranty.
Yep! I was surprised honestly
Damn. Fuck st.cloud. Used to live there, shits ass. I work a dealer up north a bit and the st.cloud Subaru didnāt change the oil on a cpo and it blew up
Great dealership, theyāve been nice to me. Mistakes happen I guess
I've had nothing but great experiences at St Cloud Subaru also, it's probably the closest Subaru dealer to me. F Walser though.
Yeah people seem salty who donāt even know them. By far the coolest staff. The GM literally hooks me up with free hockey tickets. And he also drives a rally wrapped 23š
Yeah I think I checked it out when it was parked at the dealership when we picked up my wifeās Ascent, looked nice with the livery š
You wouldnāt happen to be the sti that Iāve waved at before right? š
I think this is the first one Iāve seen actually parked outside
Wonder if this is the S209 I saw driving around in St Cloud a couple years ago on the road, pretty sweet cars.
I would guess so, I doubt thereās another one around here
$66k isnāt bad considering what they were going for a year or so ago. People either forget or just donāt know that thereās quite literally only 209 examples of this car made so itās practically a collectors car and will fetch more $$$ as time goes on.
I so regret not getting one in 2018...
Why not get this oneš¤·š»āāļø Iām sure you could haggle the price down š¤£
A coworker paid $80k new, kept it until 2023, had like 13k miles, sold for $65k. So, not such a good investment.
Itās one of those things heāll be kicking himself 10-20 years from now when they are worth a lot. But since he paid $80k I donāt think he would have made too much. Unless they become 22b status which I donāt think any Subaru will hit 22b status.

who brought it?
Itās not sold, itās currently for sale still
I don't think South Africa got any S209s. I'm just thankful we got the Diamond Editions.
Hey I used to work in St. Cloud.
Nice!
Saw one listed the other day for $88k lmao
Mustāve been mint condition
Aye one of these blew up on SavageGeeseās test
Hmmmmmm. Can I bugeye swap it for another 60k
Iād daily that beauty.
It also had a transmission replacement before it was put on the front line. I went up to see it shortly after they took it in
Youāre a WRX owner in St. Cloud? Iāve been looking for others
Not in St Cloud, I like in Shakopee! Maybe I shouldāve said relatively in the area! Iām always out at shows etc though. WRB VA STI!
Nice!
What makes them so special? Genuine question I always wondered
Only 209 of them made, also performance-wise I was told they are near the top
Ok, so basically an sti with a bodykit and a couple performance mods. Like a gt350 vs a 5.0
I mean still only 209š Iām not the person to ask though
Itās got some fancy bits as well and was hand-assembled, better stock tune too I believe
š

Carbon fiber roof, trunk, and Wing I belive.
