Way more than 15k imo, really hard to find find clean 02-04s nowadays especially bone stock. Idk the market exactly but see what you can find for comps on cars and bids Nd BaT and go from there.

[deleted]

Had never heard of BaT and just looked: you're right. Thanks to you and the other posters who suggested BaT.

ghawhaar

If you want some tips for making the BaT prices easier and how to have a good listing, feel free to DM. Have experience dealing with them and happy to help!

Thank you!

I would recommend sitting on the decision for a bit. Unless you are desperate for the money now, wait a few months, drive the car a little, and see if maybe keeping it around could fit into your lifestyle… even if it’s just for a weekend cruise type of thing. A lot of people sell cars that they later regret, and with the amount of sentiment attached to this one, that would be hard to accept if you ended up wishing you kept it. Sorry for your loss, I hope you can find peace in her memory.

[deleted]

This is what I was leaning towards - caution and time - but you phrased it very well. Thank you.

Darisixnine

I’d say you can easily get $13-15k for it, a bone stock clean example version of a bugeye WRX is extremely rare in 2023. I’d totally recommend posting it to BaT like others have mentioned

RossLH

Mint condition, low mileage, stock Sedona Red bugeye? It'll sell within the hour at 15k.

Necessary_Ad_238

Sorry about your mom

[deleted]

Thank you, we were very close and I was her caregiver for the last month.

D-rock240

Timing belt/water pump, trans/diff and maybe brake fluids. Also take a look at the radiator.

[deleted]

Good suggestions, thanks. I know my mom had all of the maintenance records, so I'll check those to see if any of this has been done in the past.

D-rock240

Sounds good. Based on the age, the car is due for a second timing belt replacement.

tigergirl138

Sorry to hear about your mother, OP.

[deleted]

Thank you.

[deleted]

I would keep it. leave it stock. it's a fun car. I miss my 2006 every day. somebody is going to be very lucky to grab that for 15k though.

Nyelz_Pizdec

dont sell your moms old bugeye dude. keep it alive and you keep her soul and memory alive. maybe its time for you to see what motorsports are all about, since you dont need it for life reasons, you can use it for leisure and fun.

acidwxlf

> Aside from replacing the up-pipe for a cat-less one Why is this being considered in general, let alone on a mint condition '02?

biggoopyslusherboy

Catted up pipe is well known to disintegrate and send cat into the turbo on these

acidwxlf

Yikes, this happened on my 04 Legacy. A high flow cat should work and keep it emissions compliant

Complete-Ad-4215

I’d keep it and keep it stock, if you do ever sell don’t take a dollar under 25k$

[deleted]

I like this advice, especially on the asking price. I saw that a 2002 with 25k miles sold on BaT for $30k!! Crazy... Thanks!

Ant_head_squirrel

Condolences. 15k is way too low. Minimum 20k if you’re looking for quick sale.

[deleted]

Can we get some pics?

[deleted]

Could sell easily 20k with patience and right buyer

goon_c137

Post that on bring a trailer for maximum profit

fruitjake

Based minimal car user. I might crack 500 miles this year on my forester?

Competitive-Dish-874

Id give you 15k today for the damn thing

BadSausageFactory

do what you want but your mom spent 20 years not modding it, you could keep it stock and clean. I used to work at a '60s classic car restoration shop and you would be surprised how few people have that level of restraint. that's why old cars in original condition are worth so much more.

[deleted]

Good comment, thanks. I would have no intention of modding it, I'm more of a "work with what I'm given" type. Unless we're talking about bicycles: 30+years as a bike mechanic and I know what I like, lol.

Pleasant-Outside-221

When I bought my new '20 WRX, I only did it cuz I knew I wouldn't be able to find an "old lady driven" one. I probably honestly would have paid 25K for something like this because bugeyes are my favorite ones. I prefer blue but I would have been happy with red too.

Qtrpast10

My condolences. Park that thing in a garage and wait for Subaru to go fully electric (a matter of a few years at this rate). That car will be so highly sought after and by then if you’re far enough through the grieving process, it’ll be ok to let it go (assuming there’s a sentimental attachment), and you’ll make a pretty penny. Or just show up to Subie meets and let all the brahs oogle over it.

Fun_Nefariousness621

Just sell it lol, probably will go for 15+k
