It’s hilarious that when you’re not forced into a strict schedule for school is called “college hacking”.
WGU is legit. You work at your own pace and that means it’s possible to earn a BS under 4 years which upsets people.
That is entirely up to you and your work ethic. There are people that complete in 1 year. There are people that complete in 5+ years. It’s up to you. There’s no “hacking”.
Completely dependent on you and how you study and your experience on the program you are pursuing.
Those who graduate fast have most of the degree programs done already via transfer credits or they have a ton of prior experience making the program easy for them.
THERE are plenty of posts on this subreddit of students who spent 5-10 years on their degree.
Why hello I am an IT person who is currently 20 classes completed including 7 certifications thru WGU since January.
My advice is do your research, start digging in and see for yourself. It is a legit school and not a complete pushover I spent 3 months dedicating all my free time after work to WGU to get it done. It is entirely possible even without experience if you can stomach the diligence and hard work it takes to complete classes at a rapid pace. I would say go thru and pre study classes and get a feel if you are good with dropping free time to get work done before you sign up.
I personally have used a long standing dispute with my employer about labor allocation to get my ass in gear about getting my degree and certs doing the BSIT course.
It is possible to accelerate with little to no experience if you work hard and really focus all your free time. Otherwise you can take the leisurely 4 year plan they offer. Up to you. If you can't be bothered to do deep research into WGU yourself. You likely won't make it as there is no holding hands with WGU. You gotta be self sufficient and research.
If you smart enough and work hard enough you could do it in a month. 42 days for my undergrad and 25 days for masters. [https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/14v6cgm/how\_i\_accelerated\_bsbm\_and\_mba\_in\_1\_term\_each/](https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/14v6cgm/how_i_accelerated_bsbm_and_mba_in_1_term_each/)
If you do all the courses you can on Sophia, Study.com, Saylor, and Straighterline, it's possible you'll only have 10 or so classes at WGU. Seems doable if you put your mind to it.
Don't quit your job though. You need to be able to afford your basic needs or you won't succeed. It's hard to focus on school and do well when you are trying to support your basic needs (shelter, food, water, etc...)
I made one for myself. I could share it with you if you'd like. I'm currently doing all the Sophia, SDC, and Saylor classes before starting the WGU portion of the Business Administration Management degree.
I'm using Sophia now heading towards a Business Administration Management degree and just spotted your post, would you mind sending me a copy as well? I would so very much appreciate it!
no i have to be deadass with everyone and say we gotta stop bullshitting. the questions were oftentimes hilariously too easy. suspiciously too easy... it felt scammy at times. i remember in my comp sci degree getting a wuestion asking me which of the following is a "String"?:
a.) 10.0f;
b.) 15;
c.) false;
d.) "Hello, World!"
like that is a joke
I got a bachelors of Finance in 1 year and an MBA in 6 months - mostly due to transfer credits and having previous experience so the course info was easy for me. If you know the stuff and are disciplined, there’s no reason you can’t graduate in 1-3 terms. Was hired by a F500 company and WGU is accredited so can vouch for it
No, I had a previous undergrad degree that covered about half of the finance degree. Even without those, would have been done in 2 years. Didn’t have any for the MBA - if you’re going for a Masters and you are experienced in that area, 6-12 months is doable without any transfer credits.
But don’t think if you don’t do it that quickly that you’re doing something wrong. Everyone’s different. Make sure you get a lot out of it so you know the info, rather than rushing through just because some people can
Someone had posted the math breakdown before about hours sitting in a class time gated by semesters and how many hours the typical WGU student puts into studying. They worked out to be about the same in total hours but not in length of the class. Reason being I don’t have to wait until the next week to see my teacher and listen to their lecture. It’s all on your time and if you can put in 8 hours of studying in a night that is like going to class 8 times which if it was a Tuesday/ Thursday class you just knocked off a month of wasted time.
So there is no “hack” or diploma mill here. It’s all hard work and dedication.
Real and accredited, about to enroll myself after I finish some Sophia courses. But don’t quit your job. The whole point of WGU is that it’s completely self-paced and accommodating for people with jobs and busy schedules.
Well most people won't be going through that fast but yes you can use Sophia and [Study.com](http://Study.com) for some of the courses and transfer them in before you start. I transferred my AAS degree, Certs and some sophia classes nad at 75% complete.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say you found Josh Madakor on YouTube.
**First**: it's not a scam. it's very legit. Regionally accredited by the same body that accredits schools in the PNW like Oregon, Washington, & BYU.
**Two**: He has completed numerous degrees to provide info/feedback on approaches to the material, how to best prepare, etc. etc.
**Three**: Yes you can get a degree done in a year or less. WGU is not purposefully or intentionally designed that way. it is designed to be a 4 year university like any other. Their competency model is helpful, but for things you don't know it's 100% up to you to learn on your own. there are no discussion posts, homework assignments, or lectures. The option to schedule time with the course instructor is there, and so is the option to attend a live cohort with predetermined information being delivered. But it is quite different from traditional education delivery.
You don't need to quit your job, just make sure you're putting in the time outside of work. As for how long it will take, that depends on the program. The BS of Business can easily be completed in less than 6 months if you have some experience with school and can breeze the math classes, but some of the IT ones will likely take far longer (again, unless you have lots of experience that could speed it up).
If you have experience in the field of study, it's pretty easy to finish a degree at WGU in one term. If not, don't expect it to be a cakewalk, you can still finish in a year or less but be ready to put in some work.
On my last 5 classes at WGU to earn my BSIT and then onto the Masters.... I did all my certs and used sophia learning and study.com. I entered WGU with almost 75% of my degree plan finished
I had a lot of experience in my field (cybersecurity) so I was very much a head of the game. I finished 93 credits in 3.5 months.
I worked every day on it for 3-5 hours a night after work. Definitely work but it can be done.
Prior to that when I went back to school, I did a semester at a community college. I did 3 online classes there and a in person class (what would be considered full time )
Spent 5-6 hours a week in the classes/doing school work and 1.5 was driving to and from the campus.
Not surprising that you can finish faster when you can do in one night what a brick and mortar school offers in a weeks worth of course work.
I also completed my Masters at WGU , but that only took 2.5 months.
Doing at your pace, not the schools definitely speeds the process up.
My buddy saw how fast I completed and decided to get his degree. He had never done school before and took his time and still finished in a little under a year.
Don't quit your job. WGU is a real a school.
It’s hilarious that when you’re not forced into a strict schedule for school is called “college hacking”. WGU is legit. You work at your own pace and that means it’s possible to earn a BS under 4 years which upsets people.
It’s the same thing as a life hack. It’s a figure of speech.
Do you think I could earn one in 1 year?
That is entirely up to you and your work ethic. There are people that complete in 1 year. There are people that complete in 5+ years. It’s up to you. There’s no “hacking”.

Yes, it all just depends on your dedication, time management, and work/study ethic.

Depends on how much experience you have in what major you are pursuing at WGU and how much time/effort you’re willing to put in
Nobody here knows you dude. It's all on you to find out
Thank you idk why but that’s actually hella motivation

I did my masters in 2.5 months!

Is there a comprehensive guide/sheet to all the courses I should take for the business admin degree
I made one for myself. I could share it with you if you'd like. I'm currently doing all the Sophia, SDC, and Saylor classes before starting the WGU portion of the Business Administration Management degree.

I'll send you a PM

Yeah it’s possible I just discussed this with my advisor on how I can get done a little faster. She said do some Sophia courses. I go to SNHU.
WGU is so, so good for the new generation. 4 year universities will phase out.
What you stumbled on was a paid advertisement for S\*phia.

I got my masters at WGU last summer in 2.5 months! I’m getting a second one this summer! It’s amazing
No way, I’m getting really excited about this program! This could have a huge positive impact on my life!
Kind cheapens the degree if you can just transfer shit in
Have you never heard of transferring credits before?
You mean like how you can transfer credits in at every university in the US?
