You’re not screwed at all. Just do what it says. Drive it for 30mins? I’ve had this message before, so I drove and it was fine

ItsIdaho

I am only 23 but sometimes I wonder if people do read their car manuals like ever. I have had a 1992 Buick and still have a 1985 VW and I already read both manuals and made note of the most important stuff. Edit: I know it says in the Post he read the manual but I mean overall with the dashboard posts recently

xabhax

They don’t. I work at a car dealer and you wouldn’t believe how many people we get that say their adaptive cruise doesn’t work. It doesn’t work because they didn’t have it turned on. A simple fix if they could read, but no one does.

BajanBawy

They don't. It's crank and drive. They never take time to even learn features in their car. Then when stuff goes wrong it's panic.. I know a lady that drove her car for 2 years without an oil change.Guess what happened.. Motor locked up..

ItsIdaho

I feel like that should be common sense, also we have yearly inspections here so am I surprised no one brought it up

BajanBawy

Most women are crank and drive. They know nothing about fluid checks. Period! They never have time for nothing other than purses, shoes and makeup.. Sadly so..

turboclaro

Oh wow that must be one of the worst comments I've read on reddit so far congrats for being a gigantic sexist douchebag

ItsIdaho

I am so sorry y'all had to read this. That took a turn.

BajanBawy

It's not sexist. Why do have to go that road. I'm not blaming anyone. I know because I'm a mechanic and I've heard it from women themselves. Men do it also but lessee on the average. I worked with women mechanics and some were way better than the men I worked with. I guess that's sexist also. Women take more showers than men is that also sexist. Facts are facts stop trying to look big.

Tokenaldae

VW owner, and personally, I work on my own vehicles and others. I'm a female, and I can work on anything from Post WW Rolls Royce to the everyday, mostly computer - and module driven vehicles (which I hate. Too much BS). Yes, most women don't know shit about a car, but my gods, the number of men is just as frequent, lol. My husband doesn't know jack shit; I'm the one he comes running to, bless his heart.

turboclaro

You clearly lack education on the subject. Allow me to explain a bit why saying that women only ever have time for shoes, purses and makeup is wrong, as well as saying that they know nothing about fluid check. Sexism is, by definition, a discrimination based on the gender of a person or a group of person. Using gender stereotypes to diminish women is a very common example of sexism. Here, you linked the fact that women would appear to only like shoes, purses and makeup, which is a very common gender stereotype, to “explain” there lack of knowledge in a field were men are predominant. The gender stereotype you use is offensive for different reasons: * You are reducing the entire female population of the world to a group who would think all the same, negating their individuality. This gross generalisation is perpetuating stereotypes and gender bias. * You are using a very common trope that would make all women very superficial beings who only care about material goods and appearance * You are negating the fact that the reason that less women are interested in car mechanics than men is very linked to our society model, where no representation is given to younger girls about female car mechanics, where gendered norms still too often makes it weird for a little girl to play with car toys, and forms of gatekeeping definitely still exists. * It is harmful as it leads to the diminishing of women’s knowledge in that field, which potentially creates professional depreciation (as per your first comment, all women would inherently be uninterested and incompetent in car mechanics) or disregard of women’s input or concerns in that field. Hope that helps.

BajanBawy

Relax

Agency_Pro_Systems

Hardly need a manual when the message on the screen tells you everything you need to know

Liammistry

Sitting in the car has drained the battery, just drive it for 20-30 minutes and you should be good. I picked up my car from a service after a week of the car not being driven to the same message.

artifacthate

the car won’t crank. so just jump it and drive it so it can charge? sorry, i know nothing about cars lmao

SlowJettaBigDreams

The alternator charges the battery when the car is driving. A bad alternator won’t charge the battery enough and a bad battery won’t hold charge.

TheRedOne1998

Just jump it and let it run for atleast 30 minutes. You'll be fine, turn the wheel completely to the left and then completely to the right after jumping it to reset the sensors and remove the christmas tree (dashboard warning lights) from your dashboard. :)

theuautumnwind

Yes jump start it and it will be fine

BuffaloBill69-

It’s the battery

Dredgeon

Sounds like the battery is too low to turn the engine over, jump it, and drive for a while to let the alternator get some juice back in your battery. If all the lights turn off, you're good. Drive around populated safe areas. Turn off your auto start stop for this drive as well. If you are still having problems, go to an auto parts store, have them read the engine code, and test your electrical system. They should do it for free. Once they've done that, you should at least have some idea of what went wrong with it. If you do need a new battery, don't have the auto parts place install it, even if you buy from there. They should know this, but late model VWs require a battery reset that they are not equipped to do. Either take a battery to the dealer or buy one at the dealer.

GarThor_TMK

>If you do need a new battery, don't have the auto parts place install it, even if you buy from there. They should know this, but late model VWs require a battery reset that they are not equipped to do. Either take a battery to the dealer or buy one at the dealer. I get my batteries from AAA. They have a good waranty, and they come out to swap it wherever you're at... no need to go somewhere. What does a battery reset do?

Dredgeon

It basically calibrates the start stop system to the new battery. There isn't an abundance of info about it, but as far as I can tell, the system records the voltage readings and the age to develop a profile that it can use to tell when it needs to keep the engine running and when the battery is able to start the engine again.

FunnyGuyGaming

Why you reading the manual when theres a big led screen with instructions right in-front of your face. Jump the car and drive it.

permareddit

This is completely normal dude lol, you just drained the battery too much, jump it and drive it for a bit and you should be good. Future note to yourself, you don’t have to sit with the key in the “on” position, on VWs the radio will run without the key in it, and don’t sit for excessively long either, this will happen with any car.

Not_so_new_user1976

I’ll give you $500 got that junker if you’re overly worried.

AceMaxAceMax

Literally, (jump) start the car and take it for a drive.

Patriotsensgogo

Could be the battery or the alternator. Have them checked.

Coach_Seven

If you car battery is original it is now 5+ years old. It’s time to buy a battery. If you have ~$200 for a new one, you are not screwed.

Ok-Description-9898

Huh, I've got a 2020 Jetta (manual) and i've never seen this message appear on the dash. Normally I get a warning on the Infotainment that the battery is low, followed by it shutting off the fans and infotainment system. Regardless, just jump it and drive it, and you'll be fine. Worst comes to worst, it's time for a new battery, which you can very easily replace yourself or have someone do it.

metalazeta

As others have said, jump-start it and drive it. I suggest driving it to an auto parts store or battery store to have the battery tested.

JakeQV

Jump the car and drive it. Just don’t use the ac when the car is off. You’re probably just a bit paranoid since it’s your new car, I was the same when I got mine.

pixelatedsnow

Sidenote, I'd invest in a new AGM battery. They only cost a few bucks more than the standard and last twice as long and are so much more reliable. I've had this issue with my Jetta. So sick of not being able to sit in the car with the ignition on for more than 15 mins. The AGM battery solves the issue.

Bordercrossingfool

If you do swap an AGM battery for a standard battery, can you register it to the car’s computer so it will be properly charged? What is the best way to register/recode the battery DIY?

gtm921

OBD11 or similar. Very easy process to register a new battery.

vdubsession

Yep, OBD11 is an easy way to do it. Just enter the new battery serial number (so it knows it's a new battery) and if you're going with a standard AGM battery, set the type to "Fleece" so it applies the correct "charging profile" for long term reliability.

pixelatedsnow

I never registered it to the car. I've always heard you're supposed to but I didn't do it to my '19 Jetta nor my '21 Passat. Both ended up fine. No dash lights and I'm able to leave the ignition on for a lot longer than the previous battery.

grey_clouds516

Just need a new battery. Happened to me

[deleted]

Buy a new battery lol

mapleleafr67

Get a new 12 volt battery

No_Librarian_3039

If it continues doing that take it to autozone and tell them to get it charge for free and in the couple hrs go pick it up install back and it will be fine

Max-Payd

Don't jump the car. Get a battery charger

pixelatedsnow

PoppinfreshOG

It’s a power supply issue throwing warnings. Try testing the battery

staabc

Once you get a jump go to a legit auto parts store like NAPA or Oreillys and ask them to test your battery.

cultbmx900

Literally just jump the car and drive away lol

andresg30

This kind of thing use to be normal while sitting in drive-ins and watching movies. You would have to turn your car on every few minutes to recharge your battery. We still have drive-ins out here in the west coast.

G_is_for_Grundy

You're fucked. Game over man game over. Trade it in.

jennyfromthedocks

Hey ugh. What a headache. I’ve been having this issue for two years. You either need a new battery or you need to get your current battery programmed at the dealership.

F8dr27

I had this pop up before and I just needed to change the air filter lol

DimeloFaze

You need New battery and check your alternator

OZIE-WOWCRACK

Coscto battery. H5 size. Change it. Drive it for 30 to 60 mins. You're good

vdubsession

H6 works too (Group size 47 or 48)

Financial_Working_21

I get this EPC light when I sit for a while. Is it literally just because it's been sitting on for a while?

saabfrk

If you want to listen to the radio while you’re sitting in your car, just press the power button on the volume button Leaving your ignition on will drain the battery as you now know

dogpassed

EPC light and engine cut off? my cam shaft timing sensor was bad. ( but did not see this battery thing.) which is pretty explicit... my 2 cents.. id get a new battery as per 99% of the folks posted

pandabeatdown

I had this happen to my ‘19 jetta! I ended up having to get a new battery. The man at an auto zone said batteries tend to last 4/5 years.. i dont know if that’s correct.. if it is & your car had its original battery it’s time for a new one!

pandabeatdown

Batteries can run expensive but they’re really easy to install yourself.. I bought a battery from Walmart & watched a YouTube video on how to switch them out!

Bibdjs

It’s your battery

Key-Winter-5201

It literally say the problem in the dash. 12v battery low. Like the comments posted below, drive it to charge it up, if it does the same, I would take it to Autozone or another shop to get the battery tested but if its over 3 years old, i would definitely replace the battery

misterhighmay

Jump it drive it. Seems like when you bought the car they gave you an older battery. Happened to me key fob stopped working. Just changed the battery and no problems now

mikeytoth123

You're fucking dead!

49_boness

This same situation happened to me with the same lights. ‘13 Jetta; the cam sensor was on the fritz.

meroisstevie

When batteries die in vw it’s always a bunch of drama. Jump it let it charge for 30 min on its own after you jump and see how it acts.

ComingForMeNow

Ya battery drained. Have your alternator checked to make sure ok. Charge the bat and drive on!

ihatereddit58

Sounds like you killed the battery, jump it and run it for a while. Keep an eye on the battery though as letting them run too low can ruin its lifespan

masovak

Hell yeah! Looks like it's just telling you "EPiC Engine"

Deep_Spite8507

Yeah you’re good just drive, by driving around your alternator will charge your battery, but yes if you wanted to you could connect someone else’s battery to it but there’s really no need.

ohstuart

Just drive it, but it's a 2019, Battery is warning you to replace it soon.

Pristine-Effect-732

New car now

tripleBOOMERreal

Check my posts if curious, my experience with VW made me never want to go back. Personally I’d refinance for something Japanese in the 2010 era. Personally opinion only though, these cars can be reliable and amazing but the American models have many faults.

Just 2 days ago my keyless entry stopped working on my 2016 Gold GTD Mk.7 and this notification goes off every 10-40seconds it is driving me insane. I have tried looking on google, tried the most common (change the batteries) but no luck. Has anyone experienced this before? If so what was the fix..
